The Adventure Saga;

The Beginning with Leaf Green

"You know," Fire said, pedaling along the Cycling Road with Dayna and Leaf beside him. "I'm really starting to feel out of place."

"You're not the only one." Dayna said, glancing at the motorcyclists that stared at them as they rolled on by. Truthfully, Leaf agreed full-heartedly with her two old friends. The bicycles that the three had rented looked rather, well... dinky next to the, huge, raging motorcycles of bikers who dominated the route.

"Hey, you!" it didn't take much for the trio to know that whoever shouted was shouting at them, but they kept pedaling on, hoping the voice was screaming at another biker on the route. "Hey! You kids on the dinky bikes!" Nope, definitely shouting at them. Suddenly, they found themselves surrounded by bikers, all of them looking rather menacingly in their jackets marked 'Charizard Gang', on the back. Their pedaling skidding to a stop, the trio looked at the bikers, wondering what they could possibly want.

The leader, who was covered in tattoos, Leaf noticed, stepped forward, smirking.

"What're all you kids doing riding down our bridge on them dinky little things?" he demanded, followed by a round of snickers from the rest of the gang.

"Just getting to Fuchsia City, that's all!" Fire exclaimed cheerfully. "We don't want any trouble," he glanced up at the bikers, a glint of warning hidden behind the cheery facade. "Right, gentlemen?"

"Depends." shrugged the leader. "You're on our bridge." he looked them over again, spotting the glinting badges on Leafs bag and Reds jacket collar. "I see you've both got yourself a fine amount of badges."

"What's it to you?" Leaf demanded. Today simply was just not her day, was it?

"Well, see, you need some strong pokémon in order to win all them. We," he pointed over his shoulder at the rest of his gang. "Like strong pokémon."

"And badges." a man with a strange twitch said. The twitching was really starting to freak them out, on top the fact that his voice sounded like he smoked a thousand cigarettes and then breathed in the noxious fumes of a weezing and survived. "Tehehehe, lots and lots and lots of badges."

"Not gonna happen." Fire said.

"Listen, how 'bout this? There's three of you, and well," he looked around. "More than three of us. We'll have a battle that developed only amongst gangs in the faraway Unova region." he paused, as if for dramatic effect. "The Triple Battle!"

"Tripple Battle...?" Dayna wondered quietly. Leaf widened her eyes.

"I read about them. Its three on three." she said.

"Wha?!" exclaimed Fire. "I always battled solo..."

"And I rarely battle..." Dayna whispered, squeezing Chuchu in her arms.

"I've never experienced this either," Leaf said, getting off her bike and reaching for a pokéball. "But if we want to move on, we need to beat them." she tossed the pokéball in the air. "Lets go, Flareon!" Fire and Dayna looked at each other, nodded determinedly, and threw their own pokéballs in the air.

"Vee, show 'em who' boss!"

"I'm counting on you, Eon!"

"Ooh, eeveelutions, very rare indeed." said twitchy guy as he threw a pokéball up in the air alongside the leader and another man. Out came a Steelix on the right, a Golom in the middle, and a Primape on the left.

"Alright, a type advantage!" exclaimed Fire, clenching his fist determinedly. "This'll be easy! Vee, Psybeam on Primape!" Fire watched arrogantly as rainbow colored attack shot towards Primape. The arrogance quickly turned to shock as the attack failed to reach its intended target. "What the...? What kinda battling is this?!"

"In triple battles, you can only hit two targets within your vicinity." said the lead gang member. "Which means your psychic type attacks can't hit primape."

"So that also means..." Fire widened his eyes as Primapes fist began to flicker orange. "Dayna watch out!"

"Eon!" exclaimed Dayna as Primape slammed into her grass-type Leafeon with a Fire Fist attack.

"Flareon, Flame Wheel!" ordered Leaf as she pointed to the towering Steelix. She knew that the pokémon in the middle could attack all of the one's on the opposite side. But that also meant that they could all attack her as well. And with a Golem facing her across the middle, she knew it would not bode well with her fire-type. "Guys! Make sure that we aren't fighting three separate battle! Coordinate your moves!"

"Coordinate?" Dayna asked, glancing at Leaf out of the corner of her eye. "Leaf, cover for me! Fire, keep attacking Steelix! Eon, Swords Dance!" Leaf blinked at the determined authority in the usually shy girl, watching as mystical swords that looked to be made of glass circled Leafeon while it did a graceful dance. Fire ordered Telekinesis to be used on his own Espeon, and Leaf watched in amazement as the pokémon lifted itself off the ground, gracefully gliding through the air. Leaf had to admit, she never thought of using her Slowkings Telekinesis like that; she always used it as a protection move.

There was some crazy strategy and battling skills hidden behind that boys goofy grin.

"Flareon! Flamethrower on Primape!" she ordered.

"Sunny Day, Eon!" Dayna ordered determinedly. Leaf nodded her head in thanks as her fire-type attack was powered up.

"Vee, Psybeam!" Fire ordered, staying true to his order from Dayna.

"Solar Beam!" exclaimed Dayna, pointing to Golom. Leaf watched as Dayna mimicked an combo that she had used many times, using Sunny Day to power up the move and let it hit on the first turn, not the second. And with swords dance, both Leaf and Fire knew that Golom would not stand from such a powerful attack.

Which was why all three trainers were surprised that, even after being blasted by such a powerful attack, Golom was standing, bruised and beat up, but standing.

"I-Impossible." Fire said, staring in awe.

"Snap out of it!" exclaimed Leaf. "Flareon, Lava Plume!" Flareon growled for a few moments, gathering power, growing stronger and stronger. Then, with a mighty roar of her name, fiery plumes of smoke and flame erupted from the fire-type pokémon, hitting not only the weakened Golom from across the pokémon, but also Steelix and Primape.

After unleashing such a powerful attack, Flareon felt drained and slightly tired, but stood tall and strong as rock-ground-type fell with a huge thud. The Steelix and Primape also fell suddenly, causing most of the bikers to back off nervously.

"Damn these kids are tough!" one said as he revved up his engine, and sped off, many of the others surrounding them following him.

"Wha- You cowards! You'll pay for runnin'!" exclaimed the lead biker.

"M-Mister," said the twitchy guy as the man with the Primape sped off. "I'ma runnin'!" he exclaimed, speeding off. Grinding his teeth together, he spat words of insults, and then sped off on his own, leaving the three trainers with them, their pokémon, and their dinky rented bicycles.

"Some bikers." Fire scoffed, irritated as he returned his Espeon.

"I have to say," Leaf said, bringing her pokémon back for a well deserved rest. "I was surprised by your ability to battle, Dayna." Dayna looked up shyly, returning her Leafeon. "I can vaguely remember you crying whenever pokémon battled."

"She used to cry in the middle of the battle when I met her!" Fire exclaimed, placing a hand on Daynas shoulder. "I remember when I challenged a trainer in Viridian. She ran away, sobbing that she didn't like seeing the pokémon get hurt."

"You were always so passionate about battling, Leaf, back when your dad was alive." Dayna said quietly, climbing back on the bike. "You may not have understood me, but you went with it."

"What'd you do to change her, Fire?" Leaf asked. Fire blinked.

"I just told her that battling isn't meant to show pain or punish the pokémon," Fire said with a shrug. "It's just tests of strength and bonds between you and your pokémon. If your pokémon is willing to fight for you out of trust and love, then when you battle, they don't see it as the trainers trying to hurt them, but as fighting beside and along with the trainer who loves them." he grinned. "At least, that's how I always saw it." Leaf glanced at Dayna, who was staring at Chuchu in the basket connected to her bike. She was blushing, Leaf noticed, refusing to meet neither hers nor Fires gaze. Fire seemed oblivious to this, though.

"I suppose every trainer feels that way as well." Leaf said thoughtfully. "But don't know how to word it. I always felt it, in every battle, with each and every one of my pokémon, but never knew how to describe it."

"You were always really smart." Fire remarked. "I'm kinda shocked."

"You'd be surprised," Leaf said. "What you learn over a journey."

The rest of the bike trip across the bridge went by quietly and uninterrupted.

"Wow!" exclaimed Dayna as she leaned over the fence to pet a Kangaskhan in its pen. "I've never seen a Kangaskhan before! How's your baby, big fella?" the Kangaskhan let a low rumble come from its throat as its baby popped its head out of its mothers pouch. It let out a happy cry when Dayna gave it a pat on the head, whereas Chuchu let out a somewhat jealous cry.

"She's really enjoying herself, huh?" Leaf said as she watched as she moved from the pen with the Kangaskhan to a pen with a family of Lapras swimming around.

"Yeah." Fire said, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Have you ever met one of those people who can somehow always make you smile, even if you're a complete stranger?"

"Mmm, yeah. Yeah, I can." Leaf said, remembering her father. He was like that, with his loud laugh that made even the most bitter sourpuss laugh straight on along.

"Well, Yellow is like that, only with pokémon. It's amazing, but she can somehow read their emotions, and can know what is wrong, just like that." he snapped his fingers to put emphasis on his point. Leaf was looking at him out of the corner of her eyes, and shook her head slightly. She could see it in their eyes, those two were head over heals for each other, but both were way to oblivious to see it.

Gary would be much better at these things than she was.

"Well, Leafy," she whipped around, though not surprised to see Gary. How in Arceus name did he somehow always manage to pop up when she was thinking of him? Hands shoved in his pockets. His words seemed... cold though, not cocky or teasing like she was usually used to. It was unsettling, really, and she couldn't figure out why. "I didn't realize you were traveling with other men."

"Gary Oak!" Fire exclaimed, raising his hand in a high five. "Fire Red, remember?"

"No." Gary responded icily, returning his attention to Leaf. "When did you start traveling with him?"

"What?" Leaf asked, scrunching her eyebrows in confusion. Slowly, Fire lowered his hand, the awkwardness becoming to much on his happy-go-lucky attitude. "He's a friend. We met up on the route to cycling road, and battled off some bikers. We were traveling here to meet up with you."

"I see." Gary said, response cold and icy as before, and then turned abruptly on his heel and walked away.

"What the-? Gary!" Leaf exclaimed, going after him and his quick strides.

"What happened?" Dayna asked Fire as she came up next to him, looking between him and Leaf, running after a boy with spiked up, hazelnut hair that she did not recognize. Fire scratched his head awkwardly, readjusting his cap.

"Really, Dayna, I can't be all to sure myself."
