Chapter 24
Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash
Everything erupted into chaos! Ash and Jason charged Freddy simultaneously! Ash rammed his chainsaw through Freddy's gut while Jason swung his machete into Freddy's head! The blade cleaved through the side of his head and into his eye, knocking him off balance! Jason and Ash took turns delivering blows to Freddy's torso, causing shreds of flesh to fly into the air!
"What the hell is happening?" Carrie asked.
"No clue!" David answered.
Ash turned away from Freddy to see Carrie and David still standing in the same spot! "What are you doing?" he yelled at them! "Go, find that machete!"
"Don't need to tell me twice!" David said before running back towards the Voorhees mansion as Ash turned back to Freddy, who Jason was trying to hack at with his machete! Ash shoved his chainsaw through Freddy's back and revved it! Jason took the opportunity to ram his machete through Freddy's face! But Freddy barely reacted as the two weapons tore open his flesh!
"Two on one! No fair!" Freddy screamed! He snapped his clawed hand and vanished, leaving Jason and Ash to stare at each other on confusion!
"Ah-hahaha!" Freddy's laugh filled the air around the lake!
Jason!
Jason spun away from Ash, looking around for the familiar voice!
My special, special boy!
Jason turned around, looking for Mother's voice... and was suddenly met with Freddy Krueger's hideous visage!
Instinctively, Jason swung his machete at the hideous face!
Ash barely had time to duck out of the way of Jason's blow! He missed the blade by less than an inch and turned to his companion! "What gives, man? We're supposed to be a team!"
Jason swung again, causing Ash to block the swipe with his chainsaw!
"Guess you should have known, Ashy Boy!" came Freddy's disembodied voice! "Jason here doesn't play well with others! Ah-hahahahahaha!
Jason swung again, but Ash rolled out of the way just in time for Jason's machete to embed itself in the ice! Jason removed his machete and swung it again!
Ash, in a moment of quick thinking, raised his leg and kicked Jason in the crotch! Jason didn't even flinch as Ash stared at Jason, bug eyed!
"Oh...!"
Jason grabbed Ash by the collar and tossed him backwards into the air!
"...SHIIIIIIITTTTTT!"
"Batter up!" Krueger said, suddenly appearing in Ash's path! Holding up his clawed hand, Krueger suddenly formed a shimmering blue energy barrier around himself! Ash slammed face first into it, sliding to the ground with an "Ooof!"
The barrier dissipated, and Krueger shouted in victory! "A home run! A home run! The Cubs win the World Series!"
Ash, dazed, grabbed at the hem of Freddy's shirt, trying to stand! Freddy pulled him up and raised his clawed hand into the air, causing Jason and Ash to levitate!
Freddy then flicked his glove; Jason was sent flying in one direction while Ash was bashed repeatedly against the trees.
"Whoa! This would be a really good time to find the passages, guys!" Ash screamed as he was thrown up and down, to and fro, hither and yawn against the trees by Freddy like a pinball machine!
With a final throw, Ash was hurtled towards shore, crashing headfirst into a fallen log; his legs flipped over his head and landed flat on his ass on the other side of the log!
"Come on, Willy, it's over! The book has already given me the power to bend reality to my will!" Freddy said with a smirk as he approached, waving his claw to pick up the fallen tree...
Sitting behind the tree was Carrie and David, Ash lying in a heap behind them! Between them, drawn into the snow, was a circled pentagram with Jason's old machete and a piece of red and green fabric! Carrie held the book in her hand, looking up at Freddy with a smirk!
Confused, Freddy looked down at his shirt; a piece had been torn from the hem where Ash had grabbed it!
"No..." he moaned!
"Klattu!" Carrie said first!
"Stop!" Freddy screamed!
"Verata!" David yelled!
"Don't-"
"Nikto!" Ash finished the words, loud and clear, and everything went still! The wind died, and all sound ceased! It was as if the world had suddenly become... empty!
"What... What did you do?" Freddy asked.
Suddenly, the skies above exploded in a series of lightning flashes! The clouds stormed and swirled angrily above them before being ripped open by a bright blue vortex!
An ungodly strong wind with an equally ungodly loudness swept across the lake, pulling everything in its path towards the vortex! More lightning crashed inside the vortex, which yawned open like a mouth leading into Hell!
"Oh, shit!" David yelled! "We gotta get out of here, now!" Carrie scooped up the book as Carrie and Ash ran after him!
"No! I'm not leaving! It's my time!" Freddy felt himself being pulled towards the screaming vortex! Krueger grabbed at the ice and dug his blades down into it, anchoring himself to the frozen surface of the lake!
David finally made it to the shore and took cover behind the Oldsmobile! "Guys, where are you?" he shouted!
"AAGGHHHHHH!"
David looked over the hood of the car at Carrie, who was holding the book in her arms and trying to make her way to a nearby tree, but the vortex was pulling her two steps backwards for every step forward she took! Suddenly, Carrie slipped and fell on her back, sliding backwards towards the vortex!
"Carrie!" David screamed!
"Not this time," Ash muttered. He struggled against the sucking power of the vortex and went for Carrie.
"Carrie," Ash said. "Take my hand!" Carrie reached out and grabbed for Ash's hand. He felt her fingers in the palm of his hand, but her tiny fingers slipped away!
"Try again!" Ash yelled over the roar of the wind.
"I can't!" she screamed. Ash made a second grab for Carrie, holding out the chainsaw! Carrie lunged for it and grabbed it, but the unmoving blade cut deep into her palm!
"Agh!" she screamed in pain!
"Just hold on!" Ash pulled Carrie towards the tree and gripped her hand tightly! With a strong tug, Ash pulled Carrie into his arms, wrapping them tightly around her!
"You're alright!" he told her. "Now let's go get David-" Ash stopped mid-sentence and looked up as a heavy pair of footsteps fell near them!
Jason Voorhees was lumbering towards them against the wind like it were nothing but a damn gentle breeze!
Ash tried desperately to start the chainsaw, but the cord snapped and retreated completely into the motor!
"Oh, you cheap piece of shit!" He turned to Carrie and yelled, "Carrie, I need you to read something from the book!"
"Read what?" Carrie shouted.
"Anything!" Ash yelled.
Carrie flipped through the book and landed on a random page! "Here's something! Nipth Shimara Baheim!"
Out on the ice, Freddy began convulsing! The souls began leaving his body; with each one that left, his appearance became less demonic! His skin paled from blood red to a shade darker than sour cream! His teeth turned from pointed and fang-like to normal human teeth; his skin began to smooth out and his hair had returned with its original blonde color!
He was human again!
"No, this can't be happening!"
His blades slipped from their anchor in the ice and Krueger began flying into the sky towards the vortex!
"NOOOOOOO!"
"That's one down, but where is...? Aggghhhhh!" Carrie screamed as the machete was driven into her shoulder!
Ash turned to see Jason standing behind them! Or, at least, he thought it was Jason! The rotting hulk of a corpse was gone, replaced by a smooth-skinned, muscle-bound man with long, dark hair and a perfectly human face! The monster was completely human now, but behind the hockey mask, the same evil eyes stared out...
"DIE!" Jason screamed, pulling the machete from Carrie's arm to strike again! Ash swung the chainsaw around and slammed it against Jason's mask, knocking it flying away into the sky! From behind the wavy curtains of dark hair, Jason's eyes glared at Ash!
"Hang on, Carrie!" Ash yelled. He turned to his chainsaw. Carrie began clutching her shoulder but, in doing so, accidentally let go of the Necronomicon! The book flew high into the sky, pages fluttering in the wind!
"The book!" she screamed. "Ash, I dropped the book!"
"Forget the book and get out of here, Carrie!" Ash yelled. "This might be where Ash Williams finally meets his maker!"
Jason strode towards them, the wind finally getting to him and slowing him down! Carrie held Ash's waist tightly as Ash raised the chainsaw... Jason raised the machete...
WHACK!
Something came out of the trees and struck Jason from the side! The object was a blur as it was carried past Carrie and Ash! Ash recognized it as his Oldsmobile. But who was that in the driver's seat?
"David!" Carrie screamed.
Sure enough, David, flying out of the woods like a bat out of Hell, was behind the wheel of the moving death trap, the gas pedal of the Oldsmobile floored so hard it might have broken through the floor. On his face was a demonic smirk. Jason turned around to face David. Even through the mask, his anger was apparent.
"Say hello to mommy, you bastard!"
"David, get out of the fucking car!" Carrie screamed.
Carrie didn't know if David heard her! Horror flooded into Carrie's face as the worn-out car was lifted into the air by the wind. David looked out the window and opened the door. He took one final look at Jason, then at the vortex where the car was headed! David leaped out of the car and down to the ice twenty feet below.
Carrie tried to follow him, but a tree branch struck her head and rendered her unconscious before David hit the ground!
CRACK!
Something hit Freddy in face! He grabbed it with his hand and held it; it was the Necronomicon! A smile washed over Freddy's human face!
"Hahahaha! Now to set this travesty-"
A shadow fell over him.
"-straight?"
BLAM!
The Oldsmobile slammed Freddy in the face, carrying both him and Jason into the vortex! Lightning crashed and the clouds swirled around them to close the vortex!
No worries, I'll get out of this. After all, I have-
-THE BOOK!
The book was no longer in Freddy's hands; it was gone! Freddy looked up in horror as the light dissolved into a tiny pinprick, and he screamed! The sound of his death scream left the vortex just before it closed, and even though he was in another dimension, Krueger's death scream rattled across Crystal Lake!
Silence crept back into the forest. Over the distant mountains, the sun peeked over the summit, casting a golden aura over the lake. For the first time in over fifty years, Crystal Lake was safe.
