Unexpected Truths

Peter wasn't thinking. He had Sally trapped against the tree, kissing her possessively. One hand was on her side, his thumb slightly grazing against the side of her breast. His other hand had creeped up her thigh until it stopped just below the thin material of her underwear, her dress bunched up above his hand. His hands never ventured any further, earning a frustrated growl from Sally, though Peter had no idea what had caused such a reaction. Any fear he'd seen in Sally seemed to of disappeared as she kissed him back with the same fierceness as him. She grabbed him by his hair and forced him to press fully against her, leaving no space between them.

Peter loved the feeling of her body against his, any control he'd conquered over his hormonal body whilst in Storybrooke was long gone. She could feel every inch of him, and he no longer cared.

Except in the back of his head he did care, and it was only when Sally's hand had wandered below the waistline of his jeans that he panicked. He jumped away from her as if she'd burnt him. With a fair distance between them, he stared the ground silently unable to meet her eyes. He panted heavily as he tried to get his breath back.

Sally stayed exactly where she was, afraid to move. If he'd been brave enough to look at her he'd of seen the hurt confused expression on her face.

'Peter?' She whispered, her breath as laboured as his. Peter took another step away from her.

'I, I should get you home.' He stammered running a hand through his messy hair. He kept his eyes anywhere but at her. He started to walk off towards where they'd left the car, his cheeks burning. He heard her shuffle behind him.

Once they'd approached the car he heard Sally stop dead.

'I don't understand.' She said quietly. Peter stopped but didn't turn to face her.

'Did I do something wrong?'

Peter sighed. 'No.'

'Then what is it?' She asked, her voice trembling. Peter squeezed his eyes shut unwilling to have this conversation.

'I know I'm not….experienced…' Sally struggled to get her words out.

'Stop.' Peter commanded. He turned to face her. 'Just stop.'

'But, I don't understand.' Tears streamed down her face. Peter felt a need to hold her but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

'Come on, I'll take you home.' He muttered. He opened the car door and climbed in. He waited for Sally to get in before turning on the engine.

She didn't speak while he drove, her gaze fixed on her hands that sat in her lap. She cried as quietly as she could, not wanting to draw attention to herself.

Peter glanced at her and sighed.

'It's not you.' He said. Sally wiped her face with the back of her hand.

'Then why did you pull away? It's not like you're a…..' She trailed off as she noticed the deep blush across his face, giving him away. 'Are you?'

'I don't know what your talking about.' He snapped. Sally was gaping at him.

'You are.' She gasped. 'You're a virgin.'

Peter scoffed. 'No I'm not.'

'Then tell me why you freaked out back there?' She asked. Peter scowled.

'I did not freak out.' He spat. 'Why are you in such a rush to be a grown up?'

'Peter we've been moving at a snail pace.' Sally folded her arms. 'I'm not in a rush, but I'm ready for more.'

'Well I'm not.' Peter mumbled.

'Because you're a virgin.' She pressed. Peter didn't answer. He caught the light smile on her face.

'Why are you grinning?' He asked irritated. She kept her gaze out in front.

'No reason.' She said. ' I'm just a little drunk still.'

Peter stayed quiet, accepting her answer.

'So why are you?' She asked breaking the silence.

'What do you mean why?' Peter growled. 'What kind of question is that?'

'I'm just curious.' Sally said biting her lower lip. 'You're a hot guy in your twenties, you're very popular with the girls…I just assumed you had done it. Are you waiting for something? Are you religious? Or…'

'Can we drop this?' Peter snapped, his cheeks inflamed again. He wasn't sure if he could get any redder. 'It's not something I want to talk about.'

'Fine.' Sally sighed. She nestled into her seat and yawned. 'I'll just make something up.'

'Yeah you do that.' Peter muttered.

'Peter you get down here this instance or I will crush your little friend's heart.' Cora demanded.

Peter stayed floating in the air, still slightly out of reach from the guards. Wendy saw Will slip out but before she could follow a guard grabbed her by her elbow.

'You might want to stay for this.' The guard muttered. His voice sounding familiar, Wendy studied the guard's eyes, the only visible features under the silver helmet that wrapped round his face.

'Do I know you?' She whispered. The guard didn't reply.

'Crush it, see if I care.' Peter said to Cora folding his arms. Wendy couldn't help but feel a twinge of dread in the pit of her stomach as she focused on them again. Cora lifted a delicate eyebrow.

'You think I wont?' She asked. Peter shrugged his shoulders. Cora waved her free hand and the guard grabbed Wendy by her waist and threw her down by Cora's feet.

'Peter?' Wendy said confused. The Queen couldn't be talking about her heart, that couldn't be her heart in Cora's hand. She could hear her heart still in her chest. To reassure herself, Wendy placed a hand over where her heart should be. Her eyes widened in alarm when she couldn't find her heartbeat.

Peter would have laughed at her expression if they weren't in such a dangerous position.

Cora tightened her grip on the heart only to hear her favourite guardsman gasp in pain. Stunned Cora released her grip and then tightened it again, watching as her guard clutched his chest. Letting out a frustrated scream Cora turned back to Peter.

Peter was grinning widely.

'How?' Cora demanded.

'Crushing hearts is part of who you are.' Peter said. 'It was a an obvious move.'

'It doesn't matter, I don't need her heart to kill her.' Cora spat, she whipped round to attack Wendy but found her gone. 'Where is she?' She screamed.

Peter smirked. 'Oops, you should really watch your prisoners better.'

Cora rose her hand and sent a powerful wave of magical red energy at Peter sending him spiralling backwards.

'I will find the girl,' Cora told him walking towards him. 'And after I've dealt with you, I'm going to ensure she dies a slow painful death.'

Peter's eyebrows narrowed. Cora attacked him again but this time Peter held his hands up to defend himself. He didn't have enough of his strength back to take on Cora and he struggled to fend off the full force of the blast. He was pushed back hard in the air, his breathing laboured with the effort to keep afloat.

Ruthlessly Cora sent another wave towards him, this time causing him to fall into the jury's box. Peter hissed in pain as his back snapped the wooden bench the juror's had been sitting on. The juror's yelled in shock and scrambled out of the box as their Queen walked purposefully towards them. When she reached it she found Peter coughing up blood.

'I wish you wouldn't fight against me Peter.' She said. 'You won't win.'

Peter let out a strangled laugh. 'But I've already won.' He glanced down at his feet. Cora followed his gaze only to find his legs had disappeared. As his torso began to fade Peter gave her a brilliant smile. 'Peter Pan never fails.'

'No matter the cost.' Cora whispered. Peter's smile faltered as the rest of his face faded, his smile last to disappear.

Lilly had pounced into her friends bedroom completely unannounced and jumped noisily onto the bed. Sally groaned and flipped her pillow over her head.

'Go away.' She whined. Her head was spinning. Lilly tutted. Jumping up from the bed Lilly tore the curtains apart letting in the morning sun. Sally let out a whine.

'I came to see if you were alright. You left without saying anything.' Lilly said. Sally peered out from under her pillow to look at Lilly. She didn't look rough at all. Sally envied her.

'I threw up on Freddy.' Sally muttered. 'I humiliated myself.'

'I know, he told me.' Lilly bit her lip thoughtfully. 'So, who was the guy in the car?'

Sally grumpily sat up, sleeping was obviously a lost cause while Lilly was there. She sighed.

'He's just a friend.' Sally said. Lilly gave her an unimpressed look.

'Really?' She asked. Sally nodded her head.

'So who is responsible for that on your neck?' Lilly asked, a sly smile spreading on her face.

Sally's face flushed at the memory of Peter's lips on her throat. Her hand went to cover the mark and she rubbed it gently.

'It's just a bruise.' She answered weakly.

'That is not just a bruise.' Lilly retorted. 'Aw come on Sally, I need details!'

Sally sighed in defeat. 'Alright but you can't get mad, and you can't tell a soul.'

'I promise.' Lilly beamed. 'Now tell me who he is.'

'It's Mr Young.' Sally said nervously.

As soon as Wendy had hit the ground in front of the Queen she had felt a little lightheaded. She had panicked when she realised that her heart was missing but that was nothing to how she felt when she noticed she was disappearing. Wendy examined her hands in front of her, half curious, half mortified. The guard responsible for her, knelt down silently beside her, he too disappearing. He brought a finger to his lips, silently pleading with her to be silent. Nodding her head, Wendy squeezed her eyes shut as she felt the last of her vanish.

When Wendy re-opened her eyes she was startled to find herself in a clearing out in the woods somewhere. The guard next to her was taking off his helmet.

'Jefferson!' Wendy exclaimed. 'Is that really you? I thought you were dead.' Wendy hugged him tightly. Jefferson chuckled and returned the hug.

'I am sorry for that.' He said. Pulling apart Jefferson sighed. 'You had to believe I was dead for Pan's plan to work.'

'What plan?' Wendy asked confused. Jefferson opened his mouth to answer but noticed Peter re-materialising not far from them.

'I'll explain later.' He told her, gesturing in Peter's direction.

When Peter had completely materialised into the clearing Wendy rushed to his side, immediately fussing over his wounds.

'I'm fine.' He reassured her, swatting her hands away from his face.

'Peter I thought she was going to kill you.' Wendy said, her big blue eyes filled with concern. Peter smiled cockily.

'Peter Pan never fails.' He repeated his favourite phrase.

'Peter Pan very nearly did fail if it wasn't for me.' An irritated female voice spoke up. Peter looked up to see Tinkerbell fly down next to him. Wendy jumped at the sight of the small creature. Her mouth dropped when she realised it was a fairy.

'You should never of come here, especially not without me!' Tinkerbell pointed her finger accusingly at him.

'As if you'd of let me come if I'd of told you.' Pan said.

'Like I could of stopped you. What were you thinking? You could have gotten yourself killed.' Tink seethed. Her whole body radiated red with anger.

'Relax Tink I'm fine.' He said. 'How did you know I was here?'

'That stupid girl who thinks she can tell the future.' Tink sulked. 'She said you'd gone looking for a Wendy Bird.'

'I am not a bird.' Wendy said feeling a bit wounded. Tinkerbell studied her for a moment as if only just noticing her, before whipping her head back to Peter.

'Who is she?' Tink demanded.

'My name is Wendy Moira Angela Darling.' Wendy answered. 'And you are?'

'This is Tinkerbell.' Peter waved his hand casually introducing her.

'It's nice to meet you Tinkerbell. I've never met a fairy before.' Wendy confessed.

'You nearly died for a girl?' Tink frowned. Peter slowly got to his feet.

'I didn't nearly die.' He commented. Tink's scowl deepened.

'Thanks to me.' Tink shot back. 'If I hadn't of transported you out of there then you would all have been dead.'

'We are very grateful Miss Tinkerbell.' Jefferson said bowing deeply before her. Tinkerbell paused, unsure what to say.

'Oh yes, we are so very grateful.' Wendy added, curtsying. She wasn't sure if it was customary to bow to a fairy but she didn't dare not do after Jefferson had bowed so very grandly, she'd hate to be considered rude.

'Your lucky I knew it was you Jefferson otherwise I'd of left you behind.' Tink scolded him. 'And your lucky the Queen wanted you dead or I'd of definitely left you.' Tink told Wendy.

'Again we are very grateful you were there to save us.' Jefferson said smoothly.

'And what do you plan on doing with her now?' Tinkerbell asked turning back to Peter, deciding to go back to the matter at hand.

'I shall take her home.' Peter said. 'There is just one more thing that needs taking care of.'

'What's that?' Wendy asked gently. Peter looked at her, a soft smile playing on his lips. Wendy felt as though butterflies where flying around in her stomach.

'Jefferson?' He addressed the older man. The hatter fiddled about in his bag and pulled out a small box. Peter took it from him and opening the box he pulled out Wendy's heart. Wendy gasped as he held it in his hand, throwing the now useless box on the ground. Peter slowly closed the gap between them, his eyes trained on the delicate object in his hand. Wendy's breathing quickened.

'What's the price?' She whispered. Peter looked up from her heart to her piercing blue eyes. He looked taken back.

'The price?' He asked confused.

'For returning my heart to me?' She asked. With his free hand, Peter took Wendy's left hand and held it palm up. He placed her heart in her hand and then as gently as he could he guided her hand to her chest and as he pushed her heart back into her chest. His eyes never left hers.

'There is no price. I'm merely returning what is rightly yours.' He whispered.
