3:30 AM
"Alright! Alright! Wake up you sons of bitches! Get up!" a group of officers' order, banging their clubs across the prison bars. "We're not going to tell you all again! Get up or we'll make you get up" a female officer screams, staring into the cell across from her. "Open all doors in cellblock B, I repeat open all cell doors in cellblock B" the officer screams into her radio. A long buzz echoes against the brick walls as the bars opens for the starving prisoners, "let's go! Let's go, let's go!" the other officers order, running beside them blowing whistles in their ears. The last guard hangs back and escorts Raymond and his roommate out of their cells, placing handcuffs on them both.
"So do we still have a deal?" Raymond asks, tightly clutching the crumbled, newspaper picture of Tristan in his hands. "Only if we are even" the officer responds, glaring darkly at the duo standing before him, "We're even when I say we are even". The officer lowers his eyes in anger, "I wonder what the world or better yet your wife and children would say if they knew that not only did you know about a human trafficking ring, but was an 'active part of it'". Without hesitation, Raymond finds himself of the floor, recovering from the punch in the face he just received. Spitting out some of the blood in his mouth, light chuckling can be heard. "Just be sure to tell 'Dimples' I said hi when you are over there tonight Officer Lange" he teases. "What do you bastards want from me!" the officer screams, punching the bars, "Long term, you are going to get me out of here but short term I want a cellphone. One of those prepaid phones with the unlimited cards every week and as for roomie over here, since he is a lifer he just wants unlimited commissary. Snickers, popcorn, ramen and all that good stuff along with a microwave and Ipad, with internet access". Widening his eyes, "what makes you think that I can sneak all that stuff in here?" the pair laughing at the pathetic cop in front of them, the roommate replies, "I'm sure that you will figure it out and we better have it by dinner time, or else".
"Free, I need to talk to our delivery boy privately for a little while." Taking the hint, the older prisoner walks out the cell and disappears down the hall. "Now that it is just you and me, this is what you are going to do to help me get out of here. If you do everything I say for the next couple of months, then we will be even and not a moment before then. If you snitch or deviate from what I am about to tell you, then the deal is off and the world will know both of our dirty little secrets. Do you understand what I am telling you Lange?"
"Yes"
