Chapter 24:Beauty and her beast PART 2
Belle had gone to bed after the second hypnosis of today, she had told Amy she was awfully tired. That moment her thoughts went back to Mister Gold, she hoped that she didn't have to meet him once more. She found it fun to have something he wanted, something he needed. Yet the feeling of satisfaction went away faster than she thought. She started to see those eyes for her once again. Eyes full of tears. Those eyes were directly caused by her mother, she had locked Belle up. She knew it. Why would Regina visit Belle that often? Amy was mad and the Daniella in herself felt disappointed. Disappointed that her mother couldn't stop hurting people. She knew that behind everything, there was a pain in her mother that could never go away. She had never talked to Regina about it, there were certain subjects she found difficult to talk about. Love was one of them, Regina would always say she had no right to ask those questions and with that the issue was pushed away.
Ashley stepped next to her, she was carrying the books of the cellar upstairs. They used small boxes they were able to carry. They placed the books on the table behind the desk. At that moment Amy would put them in the computer. She gave them an exclusive number that they use to loan out the books. After that, she placed them on the small table. They still needed to do a lot books, only 400 books had been placed in the library, using a thematic placing system.
"I've always preferred the Dewey System myself." Ashley replied. "Amy, what's wrong?"
"I don't know, Mister Gold." She shook her head. "Rumpelstiltskin. I've never seen him this hurt. I actually never thought the man had feelings."
"He obviously doesn't, Amy." Ashley smiled. "He's a monster."
"I always thought so, you didn't see him, Ashley." She turned away as she stopped what she was doing. "He was truly hurt, there were tears in his eyes. It was the first moment I saw him as a human and not what he had been before."
"You need to go out…" Ashley smiled. "You, me, Belle, Ruby, Emma and Mary Margaret."
"I don't think a pub is my place…"
"You need it, just as much as I do." Ashley spoke. "You've been locked up between books for 2 weeks. I can help you from time to time when Alexandra sleeps upstairs. And Belle does everything she can, but we need a night out."
"A night out sounds amazing!" Belle stepped down the stairs. "I've been all stressed out about remembering, I need to have some fun. How about a nice movie?"
"That actually sounds delightful, Belle." Ashley replied. "We can have a drink afterwards."
"As long as we don't run in to Rumpelstiltskin." Belle replied. "I don't think I'm ready to talk to him yet. It's just I'm not sure if I love him or if I hate him."
"Surely love him?" Ashley raised an eyebrow. "I'm quite sure you hate his guts."
"He's a complicated man, Ashley." She replied. "A man like that surely has lost his heart some time."
Emma Swan came back to the house, Graham was supposed to follow up on what was missing. Yet he seemed to be busy with other stuff. He was always doing paper work and seemed distracted by issues he couldn't avoid. She stared at mister Gold, who was sitting right in front of her. There was a file in front of her. The name Lacey French was something she could clearly read. She remembered that was the missing girl. What did she have to do with mister Gold? And would she ever find the woman? If she did, she would capture her right away. There had to be a reason why Regina called her extremely dangerous. It couldn't be made up. She only knew that the woman had attacked Regina. Somehow she could understand, Regina was a difficult woman to respect. She ruled things with an iron fist and most people preferred to call her Mayor Bitch.
"Sheriff Swan, you can go now. I know exactly was taken and who did it. I've got if from here."
"No, you don't." Emma replied. "This was a robbery – a public menace. And if you don't tell me what you know, I'll have to arrest you for obstruction of justice. I have a feeling you don't want to be behind bars."
"Indeed not." He replied. "Alright his name is Moe French. He sells flowers, he recently defaulted a loan. A short time ago, we had a little disagreement over collateral."
"I'll check him out."
"I'm sure you will, assuming I don't find him." Mister Gold smiled a bit. "Let's just say, bad things tend to happen to bad people."
"Is that a threat?"
"More of an observation."
Belle stared at the crate in front of her. There was Daniella written on it. So it belonged to Amy, she knew that her persona in the enchanted forest had been Daniella. She knew they used to know each other, Belle had met her in the library of the small town near the dark castle. The crate was about her size, she had stared at it since she got books from the cellar. She didn't know if Amy would agree if she looked at it. Yet Belle's curiosity got the better of her. She pulled the side of the crate opening it up. Inside there was a gigantic cabinet, It filled the whole space of the crate. She reached towards the handles opening it up. Inside there were books, all kinds of ingredients and some unopened boxes. She grabbed one of the books, it was a bland cover. As she opened it up, she noticed magic spells. She placed it back for a moment, then she pulled another book in her hands. She stared at it.
'Daniella's dairy.'. She turned the pages on. She turned it to the last page.
'I know mom has good intentions, great intentions. At least she used to be. Vengeance has tainted her heart and she's convinced to use the curse. I can't do anything else, but tie my magic to it. I will change the curse so I am in control. I need to protect her. I need to know for sure that people can find their lives back. I have to ensure the happy endings, my mom deserves one. Everyone deserves one.'
"Belle.." Amy's voice came from behind her. "What are you doing?"
"I was curious." She stared at Amy putting the book behind her.
"I was too." Amy smiled. "I'm not mad, what's in here?"
"All kinds of ingredients for magic I assume." She replied. She took another book and opened it up. "This is a potion book. There is a memory potion in here. Do you think it could work on us?"
"I'll see…" Amy took the book from Belle. "It takes a month to brew, even if we could start on it today, we would only be able to use it next month."
"There has to be a way…" Belle stared at her. "To get our memories back."
"Belle, there's always a way."
"Can we try hypnosis again?"
"okay."
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle grabbed the ladder from the supply room, she knew spring started. And she wanted to do something nice for Rumpelstiltskin. She knew he would like to see his gardens through the window. They were beautiful and filled with all kinds of exotic flowers, which he could use in his potions. She pulled the ladder behind her, towards the window. She noticed he was spinning, which he filled the day with. He was good, next to the spinning wheel there was gold pined up. She knew the town could do a lot with it, but she would never point that out. She slowly went up the stairs, feeling fear in her body. She never truly liked heights, her mother told her she had fallen from a tree when she was younger and ever since then she feared heights more than anything. Yet she pushed her fear aside and climbed those steps. As she arrived upstairs, she didn't look down. Her fear would only multiply if she did. She pulled the drapes softly, hoping they would come down right away. Nothing happened. She stared to Rumpelstiltskin. A soft smile appeared on her face.
"Why do you spin so much?" His eyes went to hers. "You've spun more straw into more gold than you can ever spend."
"I like to watch the wheel…" His fingers moved over it. "It helps me forget."
"Forget what?"
"I guess it worked." He laughed. It was a more sweet laugh then other times, or did she look at him in a different way. Another smile appeared on her face as she looked at him. There was something about him, something that she had never seen before. There was a person beneath his scary exterior. A person with feelings and humour. She moved her hand back to the drapes, pulling them a little bit harder. Why was it so difficult to pull them down?
"What are you doing?" He asked her.
"Opening these up. It's almost spring, we should let some light in." She stared at him for a moment, before she returned her eyes to the drapes. "Plus you can see that beautiful garden of yours."
She started to pull them even harder, moving on her tip toes. She tried to put some weight behind it, yet they didn't move. What had this man done to the drapes?
"What did you do? Nail them down?"
"Yeah." Rumpelstiltskin said as he got up and walked towards the ladder. He stood at the foot of it, watching up. She didn't want to feel the butterflies in her stomach, why had everything make her feel like this? Why did she think of Rumpel as the phantom of the opera. She had read the book and she found herself in need of another book. Why did she even care for him? She put more weight behind the drapes and hoped they would finally come down. As she moved more on the tips of her toes, she noticed that the ladder moved just an inch. She pushed it more to the wall and pulled the drapes just a bit harder. At that moment she fell them loosen.
In a second everything seemed to move faster. She noticed her body falling down. She felt a fear to hit the ground, just like the time she had fallen from the tree. She started to remember the moments again and she got ready for the impact. How hurt would she be? Would she hit the ground? What would happen? And as her mind got thinking about the consequences she fell arms around her. He had cradled her in his arms like a baby. He looked just as surprised as she did. She had truly never seen him this up close. She smiled to him, his arms felt great around her body. She almost didn't want to let him go. She could stay in his arms forever.
"Thank you." She said.
A smile appeared on Rumpelstiltskin's face. He said something, yet she couldn't make the words out. She stared at his grey eyes, there was so much in them. They told a story, yet she could not figure out what story. It must have been an ice story she assumed. She stared at the window and noticed the flowers in bloom. She turned to him again and smiled for a moment. At that moment he released her. She felt the ground beneath her feet once more again. He took a step back, dissenting himself from the beauty.
"I'll put the curtains back up." She replied.
"Ah, there's no need." He smiled. "I'll get used to it."
"You know when I was little I once fell from a tree." She smiled. "It took up to 8 weeks for my bones to heal, I wish I would have had you there catching me. Would have saved me some trouble reading."
"You like to read?" He stared at her. "Why?"
"Because.." She paused thinking why she liked to read. "You see you only have one life time, by reading you can live some much more. You can see the world without going outside."
"I've seemed to hear these words before…" He smiled.
"From whom?"
He didn't answer.
Mister Gold entered the station, Emma had called him about the stolen stuff. As he entered the sheriff's station, he noticed some of his stuff packed on the desk. He looked for his cup, the chipped cup. The one that Belle had broken in the dark castle. His eyes searched for it, but in 5 seconds he could already see it was not there. He wanted to cry, yet he didn't want to show emotions around anyone. He had seen a smile on Amy's face as he cried, he would never feel that humiliation again. He couldn't believe that Amy after all persons would enjoy his pain. She had never looked like that person. So he kept the tears inside.
"You're welcome." Emma said as a smile appeared on her face. "You were right, your man Moe ripped you off. It was still all at his place."
"And the man himself?"
"Closing in on him."
"So, job well 'half-done', then." He shook his head.
Emma rolled her eyes as he stared at her. She sat down behind the desk and moved her fingers over his stuff. He couldn't care less about the things in front of her. They were objects that costed a lot of money. Yet the one cup meant much more to him then all the money in the world.
"In less than 2 days, I got everything back. Is something wrong?"
"You've recovered nothing. There's something missing. The most important thing is missing."
"I will find it."
"Not if I find him first."
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle had been send for straw once more again. She felt the bracelet on her arm, the one that made sure she would return. Yet she was not going to return right away. It was her fifth week in the castle and every week she would stop by the library. The girl Daniella had become a friend to her. The first week she had only take one book. The second week she had taken 3. And the weeks after than she always took 3. So as she entered the library, she noticed that Daniella was reading a book. For a moment Belle waved and Daniella stood up and walked towards her.
"There you are again." Daniella hugged her. "You're the only one I see here every week."
"What can I say, I love books." Belle stared at her. "Do you have something new? Is there something you feel I should just read?"
"I do…" She ran to the back and pulled out 7 book. She placed them right in her hands. She normally only took 3 books at the time, but as she had the feeling of these books she wanted them right away.
"Dany, what is this?"
"Harry Potter by lady Joanne Rowling." Daniella answered. "I met her on one of my journeys, she's a wonderful woman. You should read it. It's about far off places, daring wand fights and a prince in disguise. In fact, they're yours."
"Why?"
"Because it's almost my birthday and I want to make someone happy." Daniella replied. "My mother send me this beautiful hard cover version of the story."
"Aren't you supposed to receive presents for your birthday?" Belle smiled.
"I'll see you in a week?" Daniella asked.
"You always see me in a week." She stared at her. "Would you like to come over to the dark castle for some tea? Rumpel is always out of Wednesday, I would love to hear more about this Joanne Rowling. Plus I'll have read some of the books, I always feel books are meant to bring us closer."
"Okay, I'll be there at 2, Belle."
She stepped from the library and picked up the straw in the next shop. In a shop close she bought a back pack. She place the books inside and walked towards the home. She couldn't wait to read the books she just received. She couldn't believe she would actually own books in the dark castle. Books that went about magic. Books that went about things she cared about. The road home she dreamed about the book. She dreamed about meeting this Harry Potter. She dreamt about going with him on his adventures. As she moved forward, she noticed a sound right behind her. For a moment she stopped. That was when she noticed the sound of wolves. She started to run towards the castle, hoping she would make it. There was a fear that went to her body, she didn't want to die like this. Her life had been saved once by Rumpelstiltskin. Yet now he was nowhere near. She ran faster and faster as she noticed the sound of the wolves getting closer and closer. She turned around to find the wolf, jumping at her. She ducked, the wolf flew over her head. That moment she noticed she was surrounded. She closed her eyes. Ready to invite dead inside. This was it, she assumed. She was never going to see the world. She was never going to tell Rumpel about her feelings. This was it. Yet as she waited for pain to come, she noticed it didn't. When she opened her eyes, Rumpel was right in front of him . He moved his hands so the wolves would stay in a safe distance. Her eyes went to his arm, there was blood coming from it.
"You're hurt." She said.
He waved his arms once again and the wolves ran away in fear. She stared at the wound, it seemed rather deep. She was sure it would hurt him. She placed her hands softly on his shoulders and pulled him along. In the castle she pushed him in the chair and went for some water. She took a sponge, a piece of a piece of fabric and some water. She returned to him, he was still sitting in the chair. She kneeled in front of him.
"Here now." She said as she pulled his arm closer. His eyes changed and he pulled his arm back to his body. "Just hold still."
Belle moved the sponge back to his arm and moved it over his wound.
"That hurts!" With a sharp movement he pulled his arm back to him. She took his hand in her hand and pulled it back once again.
"If you hold still, it wouldn't hurt as much."
"Well, if you had come back right away, it wouldn't have happened." He yelled.
"I have the right to talk to my friends." She replied. "Plus, I do everything you ask me. I can do what I want for a few moments every day, don't you think?"
"I don't think so." He turned away.
"Well, you should learn to control your temper." She replied. She noticed he wanted to say something, yet he didn't. He just stared as she moved the sponge over the wound. For a moment she thought about the salve. He moved his hand and it appeared in front of her. She slowly put some on the wound. "This may sting…"
His face moved in a grin from pain. She moved her fingers over the wound. After that she started to put the fabric over it. She draped it around his arm.
"By the way, thank you for saving my life."
"You're welcome."
"So you love Joanne Rowling?" He said as he took a book from her bag.
"My friend says she's amazing." Belle replied. "I still have to find out for myself."
"Well, if you read it…" He replied. "You come find me."
"You read Harry Potter?"
"Which honourable person in this world has not…"
A smile appeared on her face.
"Are you okay?" Amy stared at her as Belle awoke from another memory. She turned to Amy for a moment. A smile appeared on her face as she thought about the memories that had happened before her.
"I love him." Belle replied. "I'm in love with Rumpelstiltskin."
"An how did you figure that one out?"
"He saved my life twice." She smiled. She stared at the potion book and opened it. She stared at the page of the memory potion. She pointed to the ingredients and asked Amy if they could make it. Together they decided to make as much as possible. If they didn't need it, they could give it to someone else. Making the potion was a whole new experience for . It seemed that Amy was still good at it. It seemed that all the movements came easy for her. Easier then she would have expected.
"Are you going to see him?"
"And say what: I remember I love you." She shook her head. "I can't do that, I want to have my memory back. I want to know how I was captured, I want to know all." +
"And you will, Belle."
"Can we do hypnosis for just one more time…"
"Just one more." Amy nodded her head. "But that's it for today."
ENCHANTED FOREST
Belle stepped around the table, she had been reading Harry Potter. She was on the 5th book by now, yet she wanted to finish the book before she talked to Rumpelstiltskin about it. It was something they could bond about. Now she stared at him, he was standing right next to her. What would he say if she told him, she loved him. Would he actually believe her?
"Why did you want me here?"
"The place was filthy."
"You are so handy with magic." Belle sat down on the table. "You could have cleaned the house with a sweep of your hand. Why would you take in someone?"
He didn't answer, he just took a sip of tea. She stared at him as he drank the tea. She wanted to know everything about this man. She wanted to know how he became how he was. She wanted to know more than he had ever told anyone.
"I think you were lonely." She replied. "I mean any man would be lonely."
"I'm not a man…"
"So I've had a month look around, you know. And upstairs there are small clothing as if they were from a child. Were they yours? Or was there a son?"
"There was." He paused. "There was a son, but I lost him as I did his mother."
"I'm… I'm sorry. So you… You were a man, once. An ordinary man. If I'm never going to know another person in my whole life, can't I at least know you?" She looked to him in pain. He was having pain and she felt sorry for reminding him of it. She didn't want to cause him pain, she wanted him to love her as she loved him. She stared at him.
"Perhaps, perhaps." He stared at her. "You just want to learn the monster's weaknesses."
"You're not a monster." She said. "You are a complicated man, you think you are uglier than you are. That's why you cover all the mirror isn't it? You don't want to face yourself. I think you are amazing!"
"Amazing, huh dearie?" He laughed. "Have you finished that book of yours?"
"I'm on the fifth one." She smiled. "They're amazing. I love this Snape character, so dark, so complicated."
There was a knock on the door. He stood up as he moved towards the door. He saw a man there, he knew it was Gaston. He never truly knew everything about the man, just that he was engaged to Belle. Right now he didn't want to see him
"I am sir Gaston. And you beast have taken…" He moved his hand and in a cloud of smoke, the man changed in a small red rose. He slowly moved inside, Belle was still sitting on the table. She stared at him, slowly he handed the flower to him.
"Who was that?"
"Just an old woman selling the flowers."
She stared at him, she walked over to the cabinet and pulled a vase from it. She filled it with water and placed the flower in it.
"You have to let me read the last books…" She smiled. "And then I promise I will talk to you about the book all night long."
"I hold you to that one."
He stared at her, for a moment he wondered about where Belle was before they met. Was she actually happy? Did she love the man he turned in to a flower? Did she miss her father? What was her mother like? He wanted to know more about her.
"You had a life, Belle." He stared at her. "Before this you had friend, family. What made you choose to come here?"
"I didn't truly have friends." She replied. "People in town thought me to be strange. They thought I should get my head from the clouds. My mother died a few months before I came here, she saved my life…"
"I'm sorry, Belle."
"I miss her every day. That's why I came here, I wanted to be brave like her you know. She saved me from the ogres and I wanted to do the same for my people.. You know, there aren't a lot of opportunities for women in this land to… To show what they can do. To see the world, to be heroes. So, when you arrived, that was my chance. I always wanted to be brave. I figured, do the brave thing, and bravery would follow."
"And is it everything you hoped"
"Well, uh… I did want to see the world. That part didn't really work out. But, uh… I did save my land."
"And what about your, uh, betrothed?"
" It was an arranged marriage. Honestly, I never really cared much for Gaston. You know, to me, love is… Love is layered. Love is a… A mystery to be uncovered. I want a man to love me like Snape loves Lily." She smiled. "Yeah, I could never truly give my heart to someone as superficial as he. But, um, you were going to tell me about your son"
"I'll tell you later."
Belle moved her glass of wine to the one of the others. A laugh followed as the girls laughed about the movie they just seen. The age of Adeline was an amazing movie, they all agreed on it. Ashley had laughed during the movie.
"I specially love it when she stopped aging." Mary Margaret replied. "Can you imagine your daughter being the same age or older as you?"
"According to Henry that's true." Belle smiled. "I'm so glad I got out of the library."
"We are glad you went with us, Belle." Ruby said. "I don't understand we haven't seen you around the town before. "
"I have been…" Belle paused. "Otherwise employed."
"Pace yourself." Mary Margaret laughed.
"I am!" Ashley laughed. "This is my first night out since I've had the baby. I've been working hard for the past weeks. I deserve this, I'm making up for lost time."
Ruby stared around in the bar, she noticed 5 cute boys on the side of the bar. They all had messy hair, there was one blond guy and for the rest they all had dark black hair. She stared toward them. She thought that there was one for each of them.
"Ooh, check out those guys." She said as the group stared to the.
"Oh, honey, I'm still with Sean." She turned to the rest of them.
"I'm with Archie." Amy replied. "We're great together."
"My relationship status is: it's complicated." Belle replied.
"Mine too." Mary Margaret took a sip of wine. "Very complicated."
"You're not married, not any of you. And none of them are here."
"Sean is working."
"He's always working." She stood up. "Have fun moping."
"She's right, he is always working." Ashley replied. "I thought love would be different."
"Me too." Mary Margaret said.
"I thought my love life would be some Jane Austen novel." Belle replied. "It turns out that I'm in love with a guy who is…"
"Who are you in love with Belle?"
"Mister Gold." She closed her eyes. "I know, it's strange. I can't help but seen some good man behind the persona he holds up."
"Mister Gold?" Ashley opened her eyes wider. "He's like at least 50 years old. Isn't that a bit too old for you, Belle?"
"Love knows no age." Mary Margaret smiled. "My father married a woman who was 25 years younger than him and they love each other madly every day of the year."
"That's a beautiful story right there."
"I kind of have to go." As she stared at her phone. She had a message from Archie telling her to get the store right away. They were going to have a lovely evening together. She stood up. "Archie called, he wants to have a date. Belle will you get home?"
"I'll drop her off at the library. " Ashley replied. "Or Mary Margaret will. Either way she'll get home."
Amy walked out of the bar, outside she noticed that Archie was waiting for her. He pulled her in his arms right away. They kissed, it was nice to see him. Archie had been busy with therapy all week, she couldn't believe that so much people in Storybrooke needed a therapist. So she hardly ever saw him. Right now they took the time to kiss each other. As they pulled away, he smiled at her.
"You sure are a good kisser for a cricket." He smiled at her. "So what is it you plan to do?"
"What about we get some ingredients at the local store?" He said. "We cook up something and have a lovely dinner."
"Sounds like heaven." She smiled.
"How was your girl's night out?" He asked her.
"Good, we saw a movie." She rested her head on his shoulder. "It was a good movie, Belle is still with them. She deserves a night out. Thank god that they don't know she's the one."
"Regina never hits the bar." He smiled. "She'll never figure it out."
He put his arm around her shoulders, slowly they walked on the side-walk. She put her head on his shoulders and their hands melted together. She was led by him, as they got to the store, he headed in the other direction. He was going to get some ingredients as she waited. At the register she noticed mister Gold. She walked towards him.
"Good evening mister Gold, what brings you here?"
"A few…" he paused. "things I needed."
"That's good, mister Gold." She smiled. "How are you?"
"I'm fine, considering you won't let me see Belle." He paused. "Do you know what she's been through in the curse anyway? She was placed in an asylum, because she remembered who she was in the enchanted forest. Her file says she was violent. She set her eyes on a dress from our land and all her memories came floating back. They gave her heavy electroshock therapy. Anyone would suffer. They gave her drugs, they sedated her. Do you know about all that?"
"No, I didn't." She paused. "She's okay, she's remembering your life together. Soon she'll be able to see you, I'm trying as hard as I can to make her remember."
"Why?"
"Because even you deserve your happy ending."
She headed away from him and joined Archie. She stared at him, she told him to put the items away. Together they headed outside. On Archie's face there was confusion. She stared at him, slowly she pulled him to the flower shop of Moe French.
"Amy, what are you going to do?"
"Isn't it obvious?" She replied. "Belle remembered her life when she saw a dress from her life in the enchanted forest. What we're going to do is steal that dress."
So, what would you love to see more? Who would you love to see in this story? Don't worry you Snowing fans, there will be Snowing part. I just put their parts off for a while, but don't worry they'll come. I wanted to do RumBelle before that. I hope you understand, but there will be Snowing! I promise it to you! Thanks for reading! And I hope I'll see you back for chapter 25.
Thank you,
TempeGeller
