Arriving at Stephanie's dressed smartly in a suit Hunter retrieved the flowers from the back of his car. Checking his pockets to make sure he still had the ring he locked his car before he made his way to the front door. Ringing the doorbell he shuffled his feet nervously as he waited for her to open the door.
Curled up on the couch in her pyjamas underneath a blanket she had one of her oldest favourite movies on and she was enjoying her evening alone and in silence. It was just getting to her favourite part of the movie when the doorbell rang. Groaning she reluctantly paused the movie and got up from the couch.
Padding over to the door she looked through her spy hole and rolled her eyes seeing it was her supposed boyfriend on the other side. Reluctantly she opened the door not taking any notice of how he was dressed or what he was carrying, "you can come in if you want I guess. I'm going back to my movie on the couch though."
Standing there he felt really awkward that she didn't even notice him standing there all dressed up and carrying a bunch of flowers. Watching as she just walked away from him he reluctantly followed her and would attempt to get her to agree to come out with him for the evening.
Settling back on the couch under her blanket she was just about to start the movie again when she saw him carrying a bunch of flowers, "here to apologise for being a complete ass? Or maybe you're here to apologise for completely checking out on your relationship."
Standing at the bottom of the couch he held the flowers out towards her, "I'm really sorry about these past few weeks. I have really had a lot on my mind and to make up for it I have an entire evening planned out for us in the hopes of making it up to you."
Crossing her legs beneath the blanket she took the flowers from his outstretched hands, "thank you for the flowers. Why would I want to bother getting dressed up to go out with you? I really don't want to be ignored all evening again."
"I swear on everything that I hold dear that tonight is all about you. I have dinner booked at Gino's in about forty five minutes and then there are a couple of other things planned for afterwards but I can't tell you what they are as it would totally ruin the surprise."
She did love him and he did look smart and like he had put a lot of effort in to the evening, "I guess I could make myself look vaguely presentable in less than thirty minutes if you promise that you won't ignore me at all tonight."
Nodding his head he was okay with that, "I promise."
Throwing her blanket off of her Stephanie got up from the couch placing the flowers on top of it and jogged up the stairs, as much as she wanted to stay angry with him she couldn't. Walking into her bedroom she immediately started rifling through her closet looking for the perfect outfit that she could throw together in as little time as possible and still look beautiful.
Taking the flowers from the couch he turned the TV and DVD player off before he went into the kitchen and put them in a vase of water. Once the flowers were in the water he took the ring from his pocket opening the box to look inside, "please like this."
Hearing movement upstairs he quickly shut the box and put it back in his pocket before he left the kitchen to greet her as she got to the bottom of the stairs.
Straightening out her skirt for the last time she carefully made her way down the stairs and smiled softly when she saw Hunter appear at the bottom, "so will I do?"
Taking a moment to admire the view he could only nod his head unable to form a coherent sentence.
Slipping on her jacket she looped her arm through his, "I'm not taking my purse, this evening is all on you."
Turning his head he pressed a soft kiss to the side of her head, "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Placing his hand over hers he squeezed it gently and led her out of the door.
Two hours later and they had finished their dinner and were now on their way to the park to enjoy a little dessert.
Shaking out a blanket he placed it on the floor before he placed the picnic basket on top of her, "would madam care to join me for dessert?"
Smiling softly she nodded her head, "I would love it very much."
Carefully sitting on the blanket trying to protect her modesty she looked up at him and her mind drifted, she was so glad that she allowed herself to be persuaded to come out with him tonight as he had been the perfect gentleman and so attentive.
Sitting down beside her he slid his arm around her waist and held on gently, "is this okay?"
Turning around a little so she was leaning against him she pulled his arm around her waist further, "thank you, it's perfect."
Opening the picnic basket with his free hand he pulled out the chocolate dipped strawberries out and placed them beside him.
Closing her eyes Stephanie just relaxed enjoying the cool evening breeze as it passed by them.
Taking out a strawberry he lifted it and pressed it gently against her lips, "open up."
Opening her lips and her eyes she smiled when she saw the strawberry and eagerly opened her mouth and took a massive bite savouring the taste.
A few strawberries were exchanged silently as they just enjoyed the evening but Stephanie needed to get up and stretch her legs so she went for a short walk alone to just make her feel better.
Seeing as Stephanie told him to stay where he was Hunter sat silently and panicked thinking of how he was going to ask her. Picking up a strawberry to eat he went to put it in his mouth when the idea hit him. Looking around to make sure she wasn't close by he quickly took the ring from his pocket and pushed it into the strawberry before he placed the strawberry back in the picnic basket and waited for her.
Taking a short walk around the trees Stephanie made her way back to Hunter and took a seat next to him leaning back into him, "you know I'm so glad that I gave you tonight. I was starting to think that maybe we just weren't going to work and we'd have to split up but tonight you've showed me just how much you love me."
Hunter gulped, now was the perfect moment to put his plan into action. Pulling her a little closer he moved her hair behind her one shoulder before he pressed a soft kiss to her newly exposed neck, "I do love you, so very much." Taking the opportunity he took the strawberry out of the basket, "open your hand, you can quit being lazy and feed yourself."
Laughing she held out her hand and watched as he placed it in her hand. Not paying any attention to the strawberry she turned her head and pressed a kiss to his lips, "I love you."
Smiling he watched as she lifted the strawberry to her mouth and went to take a bite but the stars caught the rock on the ring momentarily blinding her causing her to stop and look at it. Unable to understand what was going on or why there was a ring in the strawberry she made light of it. "I think you need a refund on these strawberries."
Laughing softly he reached up and took the ring out of the strawberry, "I should try it but I don't think they'd buy my reasoning. Stephanie I put this ring in the strawberry, I wanted to ask you something. I love you so much it hurts, I can't believe after everything we have found our way back to each other and I just can't lose you this time. Stephanie, will you marry me . . . again?"
