I sit and stand planning about how I could possibly beat Tokoyami, but I can't think of much. Remembering what he said just before the USJ, light is an issue for him, which means darkness will either have no affect or benefit him. He has the perfect attack and defense Quirk; I can't win.
My focus returns to the next match as Kirishima and Tetsutetsu walk into the stadium. They are like copies of each other…
"Okay! Let's see who we've got for ya next! The second match up includes two completed redundant Quirks! One is a passionate, manly fighter made of steel, the hero course's Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsuuuuuuuuu!"
"BRING IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!"
"Versus, a passionate, manly fighter made of rock, the hero course's Eijiro Kirishimaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Kirishima clenches his fist. I can't see what he says, but he doesn't look too pleased that even their intros are virtually the same.
"Wreck him, Kirishima!" I shout from my seat.
"I can't wait to see how this one ends! BEGIN!"
They both run towards each other, take a step and punch, their fists meeting and causing a burst of energy to ripple through the arena. This is going to be one hell of a fight.
Midoriya turns to me. "Hey, you seen Uraraka? She was right here."
"Er, I dunno. She's probably gone to the waiting room."
"Right." Midoriya gets up and leaves.
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE STRONG!" Tetsutetsu knocks a blow into the side of Kirishima's face.
"FUNNY, I HEARD THE SAME LIE ABOUT YOU!" He returns the blow to his opponent in a similar fashion.
The fight between Kirishima and Tetsutetsu goes on for a really long time. The two both throw solid punches that would knock anyone else out in an instant, but they keep going as if a fly landed on their face. They're both the perfect brawlers.
"Go on, Kirishima!" I shout, leaning over the railings. "Crush him!" They exchange more punches, yo-yoing back and forth between who has the upper ground, but they're pretty much in complete equilibrium.
"AAARRRGGGHHHH!" They both shout at each other as they wind up a punch. Practically mirroring one another, they step forwards and swing a right hook into the side of their opponent's jaw.
They both fall to the ground, unmoving.
"It's intense just watching these guys! Is it over?! The hard-heads look like they're k.o.-ed, but who is the winner?!"
Midnight walks up to the two and looks at them both. "They're both down, it's a draw! When the contestants recover from this battle, the round shall be determined by a simple contest!"
Robots carry away the two guys as Yamada carries on his commentary. "While we wait for Tetsutetsu and Kirishima to recover, we'll move onto the next round!"
The screen flicks to a photo of Bakugo and Uraraka as the crowd cheers excitably.
"This might be the most disturbing match yet," Tsuyu states.
Jiro shudders. "I know, I almost don't want to watch."
"It will definitely be interesting." For this is…
"The eighth and final battle in the first round of matches! He was kinda a hotshot in middle school, and just look at that determined face! From the hero course, Katsuki Bakugooooooooo! Versus, also from Class 1-A, Ochako Urarakaaaaaaa!"
For this is the battle between the compassionate friend and the violent warrior.
"Let the eighth match BEGIN!"
Bakugo detonates explosion after explosion. Uraraka does well to dodge as the floor becomes a mess of broken debris, using her jacket as a decoy for part of it, earring the approval of Yamada. It's not good enough though, Bakugo's reactions are too good.
But relentlessly, after each explosion, Uraraka leaps forward to try and close the distance between her and Bakugo; if she can touch him and get him to float, he can't use his Quirk aggressively as he'll shoot himself out of bounds.
Of course, she's just met with another explosion.
...But then something catches my eye.
The crowd's grown silent, concerned for Uraraka as they start asking if the teachers should step in.
Even Yamada's usually harsh commentary has leant towards sympathy. "Looks like she's not resting between attacks...the poor girl…"
Some hero in the audience stands up. "This is shameful! Listen kid, you really want to be a hero?! Then stop acting like a bully - if you're so good just throw her out of bounds!"
The audience starts booing Bakugo as everyone starts getting a little riled up.
"You call yourself a man?!" Kirishima shouts down crossly.
I then elbow him sharply in the side.
"Ow! What was that for?!"
I point up.
"The crowd is now booing Bakugo!...And you know what, I don't blame the-"
The screen displaying the commentators shows Aizawa elbow Yamada in the face and take the microphone off him. Huh, I guess we are kinda similar.
"HEY WOAH! WHAT THE CRAP?!"
"Where is the man who started this uproar?" Ooooohh shiiiiiiiit, Aizawa's initiated his 'harsh voice of major disapproval' - I love it when this happens because it's usually at me, so it's really entertaining to see someone else get the shit. I feel a slight hint of pride. "Are you a Pro?"
The crowd falls silent.
"Because if you're being serious, you can go home and hang up your cape. I'd suggest looking into another career."
I can't stop sniggering to myself - this is too good.
"Bakugo's fierceness is an acknowledgment of his opponent's strength. He knows she deserves to have made it this far, so he's making sure he does whatever it takes to come out on top."
"Kurono, what's so funny?" Midoriya asks.
"Oh, it's just that I'm usually the one who gets this sharp, disapproving tone - it's so recognisable I've even given it a little name - I just think it's funny when someone else is experiencing it, especially when that person is a Pro who's just been publicly told to quit his job." I look to Kirishima, who's lost for words, gazing up above the arena. "Besides, Mr Aizawa's not wrong." I look up at the masses of floating debris in the air. "It's understandable Bakugo didn't see, but for the people in the stands - nevermind a Pro - to not notice is a tad humiliating."
Everyone gazes up in awe at the sudden realisation of Uraraka's igneous plan.
"Release!"
Debris falls down from above the arena as everyone gasps in sudden realisation.
"A meteor shower?!"
"Now you notice."
Uraraka runs at Bakugo as the chunks of concrete come raining down. This is it! She will finally have a chance to get Bakugo!
He looks up at the 'meteor shower' and raises an arm as Uraraka closes the distance, preparing to touch him and se-
Skadoom!
The shockwave from the explosion blasts the air back, sending my hair flying madly behind me. The monstrous detonation destroys any debris in the sky as the ground itself shakes around us. That was so powerful!
A couple of bits of charred rock fall as the heavy cloud of smoke starts to clear.
"Ah...Bakugo makes a huge demonstration of power! He blasted apart Uraraka's finishing move and remains untouched!"
But Uraraka still stands, exhausted and turns to face Bakugo. Jeez…
Bakugo starts to run towards her, but Uraraka can't even take enough step before her body collapses again. She's gone, her body has reached it's limit…
"Uraraka is down!"
But she still keeps scrabbling, slowly crawling towards Bakugo who's readying himself. Midnight walks onto the stage and puts a hand up to Bakugo as she kneels down beside Uraraka. She stops moving.
"Uraraka is k.o.-ed, Bakugo moves onto the next round!"
