Alphabet Love Story – Reverie

They're lying in the park on a cotton blanket doing nothing at all. There are no meetings, no coronations, no work, no searches. Just them, basking in the sun and enjoying each other's company.

It might be the happiest he's been in 20 years.

He's caught in some living daydream where he has everything he has ever wanted. Though his heart isn't used to it, it is full of joy, and it clenches tightly in his chest.

Hatter squeezes the fingers entwined with his. Alice sighs contently and rolls into his side.

"This is nice." She rests her head against his chest. He raises an eyebrow, even if she can't see it.

'Just nice?"

Alice tilts her head up and offers him a smile.

"Wonderful?" Hatter slides his hand to her waist. He tugs her upwards until they're face to face.

"Lovely." She whispers against his lips. She reaches up to run her fingers through his hair. He pulls her to him and closes the distance between them.

Even if they both live to be a hundred years old, Hatter will never get tired of the way she kisses him, the way her lips feel pressed against his or the way her nails graze against his scalp. He'll never forget the warmth of her pushed up against him or the curve of her waist beneath his palm.

Alice pulls back and rests her head against his. "Perfect."

Hatter smiles, all of the happiness bubbling forth as he kisses her once more. "Much better."
