An anonymous prompt where Brenda finds out Andy and Sharon are a thing (not-dates or full fledged relationship). I wrote this about a week before we knew if Fritz was going to be okay in the intro to SOB episode so this, I guess, is an alternate episode ending I guess... As of next week (Nicole's first visit to the murder room) I doubt it could fit in any sort of canon narrative.

Fritz was fine, thank god. Two bullets caught by his vest and a minor wound to his arm, it was a clean shot through and through. It would hurt like hell for a few days but he would live. He was being taken to the hospital for stitches and the paramedic said something about precautionary chest x-rays to check his ribs. Brenda walked to her car to follow behind, only to slow down when she saw Captain Raydor speaking with Lieutenant Flynn. She was too far to know what they were saying, or even if they were speaking quietly with each other, but they were standing awfully close together.

She could never get a good read on the Captain but Lieutenant Flynn was like an open book, and she could tell that he was trying his best to cheer up the woman in front of him. He was turning up his usual charm up to eleven. If Brenda was a betting woman she would guess that if they weren't in public Flynn would have his hand on her chin making sure that she was looking at him and not lying through her teeth. When did they get so close?

Behind her Provenza broke her out of her thoughts. "Chief, aren't you supposed to be on the way to the hospital?"

Brenda turned to him. "Just on my way Lieutenant." She looked behind her shoulder at the couple then back at Provenza. "What's with those two?"

He sighed deeply, as if it was something that he was terribly put upon about. "If you ask them, the official party line is a whole lotta nothing."

She scoffed, her drawl getting thicker. "Well, I'm not askin' them Lieutenant, I'm askin' yew."

"They're friends," he made air quotes, "who have dinner together, a lot of dinner together." He watched as the captain pushed at Andy's shoulder as he laughed, no doubt in an attempt to make her feel better about his near death experience earlier that night. "They're a couple of idiots."

"Is she good to him?" Brenda had never seen Lieutenant Flynn with such a dopey look on his face before.

"He's never been so happy."

"Well I guess there's a first time for everythin'." She took one last look at the couple and walked determinedly to her car. She had a wounded husband to look after.
