Ellie watched as Alice climbed up the walls of the house, holding onto anything that protruded outward. She had to admit it was cool to see her climb straight up with perfect ease. The wolves were on edge as they watched their master disappear through the open window. She waited at the back of the house, her blood rushing through her ears, she felt close to crying just thinking about Joel. Yes she had been without Joel before, but he wasn't held prisoner last time. Ellie heard the sound of somebody dying coming from the top of the house.
"Alice?!" Ellie half whispered half yelled. That's when she popped her head out the window to peer down at Ellie. She gave her a thumbs up and went back inside the house. Ellie waited for about another minute, she heard nothing but the sounds of the forest and nearby guards being social. About another minute passed and she had a plan.
"Kommen." Ellie announced to the pack. And she doubled back and around the town, thankfully staying out of sight the entire way. There was a small building with heavy machinery and piles of logs. Ellie had a few small Molotov cocktails on her person and a plan. The wolves followed close behind her, and they all waited low to the ground as the next patrol walked off.
"Bleiben." Ellie commanded, and the wolves lay down and waited. She quickly ran across the short distance it was from the forest to the log house. There were two small generators with long thick cables that sprawled out in various directions to various houses. Fuck. Alice had been wrong. She couldn't believe that they didn't even hear these generators in the first place. There wasn't a master breaker box at all, their only source of energy were these generators. Alice went in their blind. Ellie's heart dropped at the thought. She had to create a diversion. Now. "I'm gonna get you both out of there, just hold on for me." Ellie though to herself as she rushed to get the bottles of alcohol out and strips of cloth. Ellie quickly went over to the three generators and poured the contents of her alcohol on each of the generators and the giant logs around her. She then unscrewed the generator notches and shoved the strips of cloth down the drains and lit them on fire. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her back into the cover of the trees.
"Kommen, kommen kommen!" She ordered the wolves. The first generator exploded, sending a powerful shockwave out into the ground. The ground seemed to ripple and wave under her feet. And it was so incredibly loud! Holy shit, Ellie feared she might go deaf. Finally the second and third generators exploded almost simultaneously. The shock and awe the explosions created was far more extensive then Ellie originally assumed. One of the nearby houses was starting to blaze; she could see molten debris lodged in the sides of the house. Dozens of men came barreling out of the houses. The wolves were growling and barking menacingly at something, Ellie could hear a pack of infected heading her way. Chaos was at an all-time high. The power had cut out entirely and all they had was their flashlights and the fires. "Kommen!" Ellie screamed as she went racing back towards the town, avoiding line of sight as much as she could. She kneeled and aimed at a nearby guard and fired the arrow into his abdomen, he went sailing back, howling in pain. Hopefully he'd turn quickly. Ellie retrieved the arrow and continued on back towards the large house.
Everything was fine for the past couple minutes, Alice had taken down two men and she was on her way downstairs. There were three extremely loud explosions outside. The electricity cut out right after. "Jesus Ellie! What the hell?!" Alice thought. Terrified shouts could be heard after; Alice could hear people yelling deeper downstairs. It was utterly black now. About the only light she was able to receive was the faint light from the fire. There were more screams from downstairs, Alice hustled down the stairs and just before she saw the door a tall figure came barreling towards her. Her bow jammed and the man grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.
"You stupid little fuck! I'll kill you!" The man threatened, Alice reached into her boot and withdrew her knife and stabbed him in the throat. She let go of her and withered down to the floor, choking on his blood. Outside Alice could hear the howling of infected. Then there was gunfire, and a lot of it. "Shhhhhit. Fffuck Ellie, I hope you're being safe." Alice whispered. She startled when she heard somebody roar further down stairs. Alice moved quickly and moved back upstairs into the darkness. Someone started storming up the stairs from the basement. Moments later the door swung open and hit the nearby wall so hard the handle stuck into the decaying drywall. Whoever it was stormed over to the front door and swung that open too. Fire light poured into the house. It was chaos outside now. When Alice was sure he was far enough away from the building Alice continued down into the basement. Pitch fucking black. "Joel!...Joel?! Are you in here?" Alice half whispered half yelled. "Huh?...Ellie?!" He growled out. His voice was gravelly and uneven. Alice turned on her spotlight she had on her crossbow. The first thing she saw…well smelled was the overwhelming scent of blood, shit, and decay. Old blood smeared the wall just below the steps and bloody foot prints caked the stairs. "No. I'm a friend of Ellie's. We're here to bust you out!" Alice explained as she traveled down the steps. When she made it down her boots splashed into something wet, she shined her light down to see she had just stepped into a thick pool of blood. Her stomach lurched forward at the sight of it all. There was so much blood. She directed her light up until she saw Joel chained to the wall, battered and bloodied. "Oh my God…" "AHHHHHHHHH!" Alice turned and looked up back the way she came. There was a high pitched blood curdling scream coming from outside. It was Ellie. Alice felt the goose flesh raise on her skin and all the blood leave her face.
"ELLIEEEEE!" Joel roared from his spot. He rose to his feet and despite the pain throughout his body he pulled and yanked as hard as he could against his chains. It was a useless attempt. But the rage and hate Joel felt was absolutely justifiable "GET THESE CHAINS OFF OF ME OR GO GET ELLIE! NOW!" He roared at Alice. She took the flashlight off her bow and put it in her mouth. These shackles were old and rusting and the bolts that were holding Joel to the wall were starting to wither away. Alice took the butt of her crossbow and slammed it down onto the decaying metal. It echoed into the room with loud clacks and bangs. After a few good whacks the first one came loose and Joel was able to get one arm free. Now for the other…
"ALIIIIIIICE!" Ellie screamed. Alice was in mid-stride to hit the final shackle anchor when she full on turned on the ball of her heel and started to run up the stairs. "GET THE FUCK BACK HERE AND HELP ME!" Joel roared at her. "I HAVE TO SAVE ELLIE!" She yelled back as she ran up the staircase. When Alice got outside she saw Ellie down on her back crawling away from somebody. A man who was following her slowly, standing over her menacingly. "ELLIE!" Alice screamed to her. She took a knee and aimed at the man and fire. The arrow flew across the great distance and struck the man into his back. She could hear the arrow hit its mark with a sickening sound of flesh breaking. She man's arms flew out in pain as he screamed a nasally scream. It gave Ellie the time to scramble up and dash over the Alice. She dove for Alice. Chaos exploding around them, men and infected chasing each other. Gunfire popping around them. The man she just shot was on his hands and knees spitting up blood. He was still alive. More houses had caught on fire. Everything seemed to slow down and Ellie dragged Alice to her knees. Her arms wound tight around her neck, she was crying her eyes out. "I SAW THE DEVIL! I SAW THE DEVIL!" She was crying out.
Hey guys. Yeah I know everybody is mad at me. Sorry. And I know this chapter was rather short. Lately I have been encountering a terrible case of writers block. It's a very contagious disease you see. Lol. Anyway, most of you don't know that I have recently started a new fanfiction with a different fandom. The Frozen fandom to be specific so I've just been working on that here and there. So I am sorry for this extremely late update. I'll try to update more often but no promises. So I hope you guys enjoyed this installment. I had it in my saved folder for like two full weeks. Lol! I love you guys! Best fans ever! Endure & Survive!
