So this is being typed on my phone again so, I apologize for any grammar mistakes. For those of you who asked, I am sorry it seems like it is taking forever for Stiles to wake up (technically it's only been six days since he fell to bardow). When or if he will wake up, you just have to see... ;) I like this chapter because it is full of feels and happiness, a good combination. I really enjoyed writing this. And since today is august first, for those of you who are supernatural fans, happy croatoan day! Okay back to teen wolf, chapter 25!

Chapter 25: A New Threat-Who Am I Hunting?

The two boys sat in the hospital, both unusually still; not even swinging their legs back and forth due to their inability to keep in one place. But the two boys sat there in a mutual silence, both understanding that nothing could be said. Both so young yet both dealing with family problems that no one should face at that age.

Stiles heard a conversation between his Dad and Scott's mom, how Scott fell down the stairs two nights ago and Rafael walked out...hasn't been home since. Stiles doesn't say anything, for he knew it would break Scott's heart...especially since the young boy yearned for his father that would never come home.

But now Stiles' mom is in the hospital...and the younger Stilinsli didn't know what to think. His mom has to get better...she just has to...

Melissa comes rushing to the boys and ruffles both of their messy heads with a smile. Putting on a brave face, she looks deep into their pure, innocent eyes.

"Scott honey, I promise I'll be done with work soon," the now struggling mother promised. "I have to take care of some paper work and then we will go home-"

"Is Dad coming home?" Scott said suddenly making Melissa's breath falter. He didn't know it then...but his dad would never come home and Scott would grow to resent him...but that was the last moment that he had hope for his dad. Melissa knew the truth, but didn't want to break her sons heart. She forced out a smile and said truthfully:

"I don't know baby. But i promise everything will be okay." Scott nodded, trusting his moms words, but still no toothy smile appeared on his face. She then turned to Stiles who was unusually quiet the whole time and not bouncing in his seat.

"Stiles, kiddo your Dad called," now Stiles looked up, his eyes filled with hope. "They asked him to stay an extra shift, so you and Scott can have a sleep over." The boys in the quick second were filled with delight. Their first sleep over was on that day. Scott was still smiling as little Stiles lowered his head, a sad and small smile on his face.

"Can I say goodnight to mommy?" Stiles asked, eyes pleading. Melissa had to fight not to burst out crying in front of him, but she was amazed that she held it together. Forcing a smile on her lips once more, she nodded quickly making Stiles beam.

"Of course you can kiddo." She breathed. Stiles smiled as he jumped off of his chair, racing into the room next to the chairs where he and Scott were placed. When he ran in, Claudia Stilinski was wide awake, not yet consumed with exhaustion from her condition. She didn't look sick...at least not yet. But Stiles noticed the little things: she did get thinner...a lot thinner...and it took a lot more effort to preform simple tasks. But young Stiles thought it was a faze and that in hospitals where people get better. Not even knowing that in a few months she will...

"Mommy?" Stiles asked with a beautiful tone in his voice. Claudia's eyes lit up as she looked to her baby boy whose head barely peaked over the lifted bed.

"Hey pumpkin," she breathed with some effort, though a gorgeous smile was on her face. "Come here and lay with mommy."

Stiles eyes brightened as he tried to pull himself onto the bed. His arms wobbled beneath him, and he grunted in agitation when his strength betrayed him. His cheeks flushed as his mom giggled at his adorable struggle. Stiles slipped and fell down, causing Claudia to gasp with worry. Stiles groaned before hurrying to the chair that his dad was usually placed, sliding it with a screeching sound next to the bed. Claudia then laughed as Stiles used the chair as a stepping stool to climb on the bed with her. Carefully, little Stiles snuggled up next to his mother who stroked his brown hair joyfully. She was blessed to have a baby boy, who would grow to be strong and brave like his father. But thankfully, he had her honey brown eyes.

"I'm spending the night at Scott's house mom," Stiles said excitedly. "It's gonna be so much fun!"

"I know sweetheart," Claudia chuckled. "I'm glad you'll have a wonderful time with Scott." Stiles' smile slowly disappeared and Claudia furrowed her brow in confusion.

"What's wrong honey?"

"When are you gonna come home mommy?"

Claudia bit her lip, unable to bring herself to lie to her only child, but unable to say the truth. She simply kissed his small forehead and said with a sad smile:

"You know how much you mean to me? You mean the world to me honey. All I want you to do is be happy and strong my darling. Can you do that?"

Stiles knew something was wrong then, but he didn't know just how wrong until months later. But that day, he smiled because he thought everything would be okay. He sat up on the bed with his toothy smile, beaming with joy.

"I'll be strong mom," Stiles said lifting both arms to flex his small muscles. " I'll be more than strong!" Claudia chuckled, exhausted as she pulled Stiles back to her, once again kissing his delicate forehead.

"I know you will my darling," she sing sleepily. "You go have fun. I'll see you tomorrow...I love you honey."

"I love you too mommy."

Back outside the room, Scott watches as Stiles hurries inside to his mom. Scott peaked over in time to see Melissa hastily wiping away the tears she tried to conceal. Scott never saw his mother cry...he's seen her angry at his dad...but never once cried.

"Mommy, are you okay?"

"I'm fine Scott," she said forcing back her smile. "Everything is fine, mommy is just tired from working."

"Oh." Scott said puzzled lowering his head. Melissa pursed her lips before squatting down to her sons eye level, gently caressing his small frame.

"Scott honey, I want you to do me a favor okay?" Melissa said sweetly. Scott nodded rapidly, ready to carry out whatever request his mom was going to ask him. Melissa sighed before looking deep into Scott's eyes.

"Scott, I want you to look out for Stiles," Melissa instructed gently. "He's going through a lot right now, and he's gonna need you...I need you to watch out for him. Make sure he is happy...just look after him Scott. Can you do that for me?"

"I promise mom." Scott said softly understanding. Something big was coming, and he had no idea what. But Scott promised he would look after Stiles during this time...he made it his personal mission.

Stiles slid off of the bed, clumsily hitting the floor much to Claudia's worry. With a smile, he bid his mom a final good bye for the night before rushing out to meet with his best friend. Scott and Melissa greeted him with a warm smile as Scott began to tell jokes, making Stiles laugh. Melissa exited the scene, hurrying off to finish paper work, finally letting her sorrow tears fall.

Claudia was exhausted, for her body was growing weak. Still, she listened through the door, the sound of Stiles's laughter like a lullaby for her sleep. Scott and Stiles didn't know what inevitable was going to happen, for in that moment they were happy. Scott worked extra hard that night keeping that smile on Stiles face.

it was the first time Scott promised to protect Stiles...and he vowed that day he would always protect Stiles...no matter what it took.

...PRESENT...

We pulled up to the Sheriff'a station sooner than I thought we would. Lydia and I quickly unhooked our seatbelts, hurrying inside the unfamiliar building. The federal agents helped move the sheriffs station to this place? Well it's nice...it's just...huge. The building that was rented out was a three story, the top floor being used for the local sheriffs department. I huffed in urgency, wanting to find answers as soon as possible.

"Adriana." Lydia said then. I turned back to her when I saw Lydia motioning towards the parking lot. I didn't know what she was talking about until I saw Deaton's car.

"He's probably asking the same thing we are." I said tilting my head. Lydia simply nodded as we hurried off inside. We made it to the elevator, both of our feet tapping with impatience. The ding signaled that we made it, and the door opened revealing a scatter of cubicles filled with officers and agents hurriedly working. Lydia led the way as I walked through the isles, searching for any familiar faces.

Suddenly, something popped out of one of the cubicles making Lydia jump, gasping out of fear. At the same time, I pushed her gently to the side fists ready when my cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Alec you scared me!" I said bringing a hand to my chest as Lydia did the same. "Why are you pointing your fingers like that?"

"I'm playing a game," Alec whispered. "Deaton is talking to the sheriff, so I'm passing time. But my opponent is very sneaky."

"Who is your opponent?" I asked furrowing my brow. Alec was about to speak when suddenly, a long arm stretched out from a cubicle , fingers forming the shape of a gun "firing" at the sound of someone saying "bang bang" before retracting their hand. Alec upon hearing this collapsed to his knees while grunting, though he quickly rose to his feet.

"It's a complicated point system game," Alec said quickly while running behind me, using me as a shield. "Don't worry, I'm ahead enough points to be still in the lead and safe."

Just then, a deputy popped out of a cubicle on a rolling chair, sliding from one cubicle to the next . Lydia and I couldn't help but chuckle at Deputy Parrish saying "bang" pointing his finger guns at Alec. In response, Alec cringed falling to the floor, clutching his stomach. Now was when Lydia and I really started giggling. We moved forward towards the cubicle to see a bashful deputy Parrish.

"I see you won that round." Lydia teased as Parrish chuckled.

"What can I say, he's a good shot." He smirked. A grin formed on my face, thankful for a guy like Parrish to be around.

"Thank you for watching out for Alec," I said honestly. "Not just when the Sheriff is busy but-"

"No worries," Parrish smiled earnestly. "Besides, Alec has grown on me. It's hard not to like him."

"They need a lot of guys like you out there deputy." Lydia said. By the tone of her voice, I can tell she meant guys who protect others. Parrish must have sensed this, for ha gave that smile that said, "I know what you really mean."

"Please, you can call me Jordan."

"Bang!" Alec cried hopping from behind me. Parrish clutched his chest before forming a fake gun himself and began to "shoot" at Alec. They both laughed and giggled as did we until Parrish went to shoot again, turning crimson red while rising to his feet. I spun around quickly as did Lydia, staring wide eyed at a tall man wearing a federal agent badge.

"I didn't know they paid you to babysit," the man said coldly. "Good to see what use these deputy's are for this department." I just met this man...and I already hate him.

"Lydia Martin," he said lifting his head up high. "Why do I get the feeling that I'll be seeing you and the rest of your group a lot."

"Nice to see you too Agent McCall."

I mean it when I say, that my jaw dropped to the floor at the sound of that last name. This man...is Scott's dad? To be honest, and I don't mean this in any degrading way, but he looks nothing like his Dad. He looks more like his mom. Agent McCall then stared at me, and I instantly got defensive.

"You must be Adriana Sky," he said confidently. "Deaton's oldest god child...and disturbingly joining the most troublesome group of teenagers in Beacon Hills."

"Great first impression from agent McCall." I said rolling my eyes, crossing my arms. "Got any other heartless remarks up your sleeve?"

"I'm starting you off on a clean track record Adriana, you should consider yourself lucky that you aren't grouped with this one, Isaac Lahey, Kira Yukimora, Stiles-"

"Do NOT mention Stiles!" I spat stepping forward. This surprised agent McCall and even deputy Parrish, but I didn't care. "Don't ever mention his name ever again." his eyes widened and I looked to Lydia who instantly had her head down...i knew the tears were forming.

"How dare you, especially considering the state he's in." I said lowly back to agent McCall who seemed awestruck as I held Lydia, consoling her. I was surprised to see the look of shock on his face.

"What's wrong with Stiles?" He asked deeply concerned. Now I was really in shock. How does he not know what's going on? I ignored him and continued to console Lydia as Parrish escorted agent McCall out. I focused on Lydia who was hastily trying to collect herself.

"I'm sorry it's just...it's hard sometimes." Lydia said through a sad smile. I am just amazed at how strong she is trying to be through all of this...it's just too much to handle. Lydia forces a smile, her eyes still glossy as Alec hurried to her side, engulfing her in a warm hug. Lydia smiled, even chuckled at the gesture, returning the hug.

"Everything will be okay." Alec said comfortingly. Lydia sniffled, a brighter smile on her face. I am so proud of Alec, his words warming my heart.

"I know it will," Lydia breathed pulling away. "Especially since you have such an amazing sister. Parrish is right, you can't help but melt to this little boy."

"Yeah I know." I beamed ruffling Alec's hair. Parrish can in at that time and hastily began to put on his coat.

"Are you leaving Deputy?" Alec asked as confused as I was. Parrish gave a light grin while nodding his head.

"I'm going back to the station. See if there is anything I can find."

"I'll go with you." Lydia said casually. This got Parrish to furrow his brows with a smirk.

"Let me guess...you have some friends down there already and you want to check it out yourself...as you always do." I held my breath at that moment as Alec squeezed my hand. Lydia sneered with her jaw partially open.

"I can't be a curious teenager?"

"Curious enough to always be at the center of every crime scene?"

"Are you saying I have a reputation?" Lydia said raising her eye brows as I stayed perfectly still.

"An interesting one yes." Parrish smiled. "You seem very...initiative. Like you seem to know a lot more than you let on."

"Don't tell me you believe in all of that psychic nonsense." Lydia sneered as she picked up her purse.

"I wish I can say I don't believe in anything." Wait what? Parrish do you know something? But Parrish didn't say anything more as he grabbed a pair of keys, pausing at the cubicle for Lydia to follow.

"I'll see you tonight Addie." She smiled. Translation: I'll tell you everything later. Good luck with tonight. The two of them walked out as Alec and I stood there frozen.

"I swear I said nothing." Alec said numbly.

"I didn't think you did Alec." I kept a hold on his hand as we walked out to agent McCall who was speaking to some other deputy's. I looked past him to see the sheriff and Deaton walking towards us. My heart tugged a bit seeing the sheriff, how distraught he seemed today. Why is he so depressed? He usually is in a better mood, well as good as you can be. Oh no did something happen?

"Special agent," the sheriff said tiredly. "You wanted to see me?" Oh god, agent McCall if you decide to be a total douchebag right now...

"I just wanted to let you know that you can go home sheriff." Oh hell no!

"Excuse me?" The Sheriff replied. "I thought you said you were done trying to get me fired-"

"I didn't mean it like that," agent McCall said putting a hand up. i then saw his expression...sympathetic. "I mean...go be with your son."

The sheriffs eyes watered as did Deatons. I too had to contain myself, feeling water build up in my eyes. The sheriff nodded as agent McCall extended his hand to which John shook. He gave us a farewell before rushing out of the building. Agent McCall frowned before turning to go to his office probably. I turned to Deaton who was braving a smile.

"Deaton, can we go?" I asked urgently. Deaton stepped back in surprise at my demand, but I can't stand just waiting until nightfall to go to Stiles. Not when there is so much at stake.

"Yes, but not with Alec there." Deaton said after contemplating. This got Alec worked up and he was ready to protest. But I refuse to let him watch.

"Alec, you can't."

"But Addie-"

"No but's Alec," I said sternly, looking into his frustrated brown eyes. "Go with Deaton, and i'll see you later tonight." Alec lowered his head, and I felt bad for doing this to him. But it's for his own good...for his own safety.

"How do you plan on doing this Addie?" Deaton asked concerned.

"I'm going to call Scott and meet him at his house," I whispered. "I'll say the words myself."

"I never taught you the words." Deaton sneered. I bashfully let out a smile To which Deaton rolled his eyes, bringing a hand to his head. "Of course you would. Just...call me when you get there." Translation: be careful. I nodded to Deaton before lowering to Alec's level, giving him a kiss on the forehead. I met his eyes with a bright smile, to which he couldn't help but return.

"I love you Alec," I breathed. "I'll see you tonight. Okay?"

"Okay." I didn't want to press on Alec's objections anymore, so I just gave another kiss on the forehead and rose onto my feet. I looked at Deaton and gave him a look that said "please watch out for him." I turned on my heel and walked out of the building, hastily rushing to an elevator that was just about to close. After rushing in, I pressed my back against the elevator to which I hissed in pain. I shut my eyes, letting the cold air hit me. At the sound of the ding, my eyes fluttered open and I gasped to see Isaac there.

"Dear god! You just love scaring me don't you!" I said bringing a hand to my chest. Isaac just pursed his lips as we both walked out of the building together.

"Jackson and Malia are heading back to Scott and Kira. Peter confirmed it...Kate did turn by a scratch."

"Damn it Peter," I scowled as we walked towards the woods."What about Derek? Anything from him?" Instead of answering my question, Isaac's eyes widened greatly.

"What?"

"I know what's different about you! It's not just your powers! It's Derek!" Now my eyes widened, what did he mean?

"What are you talking about?"

"Well...I did say you smelled different," Isaac smirked leaning closer to me. "Derek was in patrol at your house last night...anything interesting happen?" My cheeks flushed, but I shook off Isaac's pointless banter as we continued to walk. We have bigger things to worry about.

"Getting back on track now," I said quickly as my heart rate sped up like crazy. "Any clue what Kate wants? Or what she is doing here?"

"No idea...but I'm pretty sure she started the fire at the station." Isaac spat before shaking his head. "Its strange though. I don't see any motive for her to start the fire at the sheriff station. Jackson said that the first thing she would have done was go after Peter for killing her or even Scott. But there was no motive for the fire-"

"Isaac wait," I gasped, pausing in the woods. "You said that Kate was...was Allison's Aunt...what if..."

"If she knows about that, than we are in serious trouble," Isaac shivered. "But that still doesn't explain the fire. What if it was the Calaveras?"

"But why would they start the fire?" I countered. "As far as we know, their main concern is hunting Kate. So far that's all it has been...but still, who would start the fire?"

"Let's just hurry to Scott. Let's see what he thinks." Suddenly, a low rumble sounded from behind us, and both our eyes widened in fear. Slowly, we turned around and I couldn't help but let out a shaky breath. My eyes widened at a massibe man...more like a beast standing tall...what made it terrifying was the low grumble escaping it...and the large bones covering it. The thing twisted it's fingers before clutching it into fists.

I heard Isaac growl, and I turned to see him in full werewolf form, snarling at the thing. The huge beast growled again as two more massive things appeared on all sides of us. Isaac's eyes widened as my pulse quickened.

"Berserkers," Isaac gasped suddenly, and i knew that wasn't a good sign. "Adriana. Run!"

The two of us turned around and broke off into a full blown sprint. With Isaac at a supernatural advantage, I was falling a bit behind, but not by much. Damn it I knew I should have brought my fathers gun! I can hear them getting closer, but I pushed myself to go faster. My muscles were already burning and I grunted desperately past my aching back.

Another rumble sounded next to me and I looked in time to see the Berserker get ready to swing at me. My feet skidded to a stop as I ducked underneath its massive arm. I went to run past it when it swung it's back hand towards me. I didn't have time to brace myself when I felt the impact on my left side. Everything was a blur as the wind hit my body before I slammed into a nearby tree.

I yelped at the impact of the tree and my back, my eyes watery at just how hard I hit. Gravity then took over as I crashed onto the forrest floor, the leaves and twigs crunching beneath me. I could barely lift my head up when I saw the berserker run towards me. It's massive hands pulled me up to my feet by my throat as I gasped for air. I tried to loosen its grip to no avail and I couldn't hold my breath any longer. I tried to scream for help, but my voice was hoarse and nothing came out.

Suddenly, air entered my lungs as I collapsed back onto the floor, coughing loudly as my blurry vision began to clear. I focused ahead of me when I finally saw the berserker that attacked me swinging at Isaac who was just barely holding it off. I looked to my right and saw the other two berserkers run at a full sprint towards Isaac who wasn't noticing this.

My eyes grew wide when Isaac finally noticed, but when he went to claw at the berserker, it gripped onto his wrist tightly.

"ISAAC!" I screamed, burning my throat. But it was too late, the thing threw him to the other berserkers who had him tightly restrained, tying these weird looking ropes around him. The one that threw him turned towards me, and I didn't want to face this. Isaac howled into the air before being gagged then knocked out by the other two, and I began to fear the worst. Panic was flooding through me, so I began to say the words.

"Asperiesque ostium in corde suo," I shakily said as the berserker got closer. "Ire per mundum novit puellae-" i couldn't finish the words...the berserker hoisted me up and knocked me out cold. The last thing I remembered was my head throbbing...and darkness.
