She hadn't known what they'd wanted when they'd called her in, but if she'd known it was for one of those goddamned invasive procedures, she would have been a damned sight more belligerent about it. It would have done dick-all for her current situation, but it would have at least made her feel better. At least up until the inevitable "beat up the Lost Unit for getting angry" shit.

Making her way back to the Haven, Samarubu wondered whether or not she should try to take a shower. It would be something of a hassle, and getting out of the lab would be the first hurdle. And then, well, trying to find a shower-stall that wasn't in use, or "being held for someone else, so go away you stupid bitch" was… interesting. There was also, inevitably, the issue of actually getting to stay in the shower long enough to wash up.

She'd learned at least that much from dealing with all the shit back at the Africa base.

Then again, the procedure had made her feel really dirty. It was almost- really, the closest she had ever come to being raped. To ever having sex at all, in fact, since her power tended to activate whenever she got stressed or excited.

Some power, she scoffed, deciding not to bother with the hassle of showering, with all the shit involved. I can't even throw fireballs. All I can do is try to repel people with extreme heat. Those new models the Head Lab Rat keeps sending after me get closer every time.

Heat and light were really the only things she had in her arsenal; she really needed to put some time into actually learning to fight. Problem was, the only person Samarubu trusted enough to teach her those kinds of things was always asleep when she made it back to the Haven. Yith was nice enough, and sometimes they would catch sight of each other coming and going from the Haven, but Yith was more vulnerable than any of them, and his spindly, mothlike battleform wasn't made for the kind of scrap that she, Ralgax, and Alvade were subjected to on an almost daily basis lately.

Alvade himself was a bit young to be teaching combat techniques, and most of the moves he used came from Ralgax anyway.

She and Ralgax hadn't managed to reconnect since that bastard of a head lab rat had decided to show his wrinkled, ugly face around here. If she'd been a more paranoid sort, she might have been willing to believe that he was deliberately keeping her away from her comrades. But no, no one really cared about Lost Units enough to even notice the relationships they formed with each other in the first place. Bad luck and chance were probably enough to explain what was happening right now.

Worse luck for her, of course, since she needed enough time with Ralgax for him to teach her how to fight. She had the feeling that Yith was in the same boat as her. Sure, he had some other powers of his own, but using those would only tip off the lab rats that he wasn't exactly your standard-issue Lost Unit. That, of course, would probably end up getting him killed; which was something that all of the remaining Lost Unit Five wanted to keep from happening.

With Halvra dead, the three of them had become all the more protective of each other; none of their remaining Five were going to lose any of their members to Chronos' sadistic cadre of lab rats.

Sighing softly as she stood at the door to the Haven, Samarubu gently opened it and let herself in. Yith and Ralgax were both sleeping, as usual, and Alvade was missing; but she was beginning to expect that, lately. And it wasn't as if there was anything she could do about that, anyway.

She'd long since learned that it was best not to dwell on things she couldn't help.
