A/N: Evangeline in all her glory. On a not so related topic...oh wait, there is none. School has stolen my mind. (Or maybe that was Tim...no! He can't steal my brain!!) Oh dear, this is worse than I thought...please continue reading while I go insane. (For the record, that came up during Spanish. Just...don't ask.)
"Get up, pig," ordered Evangeline, standing over my bed. I mumbled, trying to wake up while sitting up. Why had Evangeline called me a pig?
"I said get up! You dirty rotten little girl, you ran after the wedding! No one could find you! You missed all of the cleaning up!" she shouted. Anger started to boil inside of me.
"Who made you queen? I'll get up when I feel like it!" I exclaimed, flopping back down onto the bed. Evangeline grabbed my wrist, her long fingernails digging into my skin. I cried out in surprise and pain, not to mention a little anger. Why was she trying to hurt me so? Bridget entered the room, confused and shocked.
"Evangeline, stop it! You're hurting her!" she exclaimed. I was glad that Bridget finally stood up to Evangeline, but still in a bit of pain from Evangeline's fingernails.
"Quiet, fool, or you'll get the same treatment!" ordered Evangeline. Bridget got quiet, but was clearly upset. Evangeline turned back to me. She yanked my wrist, dragging me out of my bed. I flailed, lashing out at her arm so that she would let go of me.
"Submission will be easier. Ask Bridget. But since you missed cleaning up after the wedding yesterday, you'll clean the entire house today," she stated, letting go of my wrist. I rubbed it. How did she get so strong?
"Where is my father?" I demanded. I knew that he would not stand for something like this, even if Lady Millicent would. Evangeline smiled.
"They already left for their honeymoon. I'm the oldest; I'm in charge. Now get to work!" she ordered, walking out of the room. I wanted to cry again. Bridget walked over to me.
"He didn't even say goodbye!" I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. Bridget patted my shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I know he would have; he's a very kind man. However, Mother holds so much power over him. He hardly notices anything other than her these days. I don't think it's all love, either," she replied. I looked up at the girl.
"What do you mean?" I asked. Bridget laughed nervously.
"It's just that my mother is a very powerful woman. Her powers of persuasion are pretty amazing. Listen, Mari, I can't tell you what's going on, but I can give you clues. You'll understand them," she answered. I frowned, but had no time to respond.
"Bridget! Stop talking with the girl!" Evangeline shouted. Bridget gave me a regretful look and walked downstairs.
"Get to work, pig!" Evangeline screamed. I sighed. At least the house would now be clean. I went down to the cleaning quarters and grabbed the supplies. Scrub. Scrub. Scrub. Like I was scrubbing Evangeline's cruel smile off her face. I cleaned, taking out my anger and frustration on the floors, the walls, the mirrors, and every other item I could clean. Evangeline stood over me, smiling.
"Very good, pig. You'll make an excellent housekeeper someday," she said. Taking her lipstick, she drew a large, red line across the mirror.
"You missed a spot," said Evangeline, walking away triumphantly. I had to control my anger. If I lashed out now, things would get messy. I had to bide my time in rebellion against Evangeline. I would bring her down to size, someday. I really would.
Little did I know that things would only get worse.
A/N: Ugh. Evangeline.
Tiger Lily21: Yes, yes they are. :) You knit?! That's awesome! I just learned this summer! Seriously, you rock! Purple knit socks...awesome! I was so mad at Leo when I wrote this. I mean, it had to be done, alas, but I'm still very sad and disappointed in him. But they are teenagers...they do tend to get insecure. The fairies are feared, mostly because they hate humans. If all my backstories line up, they actually waged war long before Mari came along. Their search...hmmm...you'll just have to wait and see for that one. I'm so glad you like my story!
Quiet Mindreader: Well...she is powerful, but part of it was wishful thinking. So a little bit of both. Shockingly enough, Millicent has nothing to do with the fairy problem. She's got her own plot to carry out. And yes, rough times are ahead. :(
Arista Everett June: Well, it's Snow White, more or less. Less, actually. It will probably follow Grimm's version more, with the prince being trapped in the dungeon and going out to rescue his princess. Maybe sequel is the wrong word. A...continuation of my characters, although I cannot reveal the female role as of yet, although you could probably figure it out. And thanks to another guy friend of mine, I now know a little more of what I'm doing. Oh, a song for Mari and Leo...I can't wait to see what you come up with! You're very good with that! Sorry to say, though, things are going to get worse. :( Hmmm...I'm going to need more cookies... It's not too cold up here...well, the snow melted and then refroze and then melted again, and now it's snowing again. Ugh. Can't I move to Florida or something? I don't mind it too much, the only thing I mind is the school turning the heat down 2 degrees...seriously, a few girls are considering making a "Bring a Snuggie to School" day. I'd just wear my robe backwards. He's watched half of it and likes it...hope is in sight for him!
Mockingbyrd's Tune: True story! Hooray for socks! Unfortunately, I can't really tell you any of these answers without revealing major plot points. Okay, so Evangeline wants to be...more noble than she is right now. Hmm...I think Mari would greatly enjoy chocolate right now. Oh, most definitely! I love making new friends! My FFn Family...so very comforting and awesome! Oh, no doubt I will always write! God has given me that gift, and I will use it to praise Him! P.S. I was already a comma addict. We'll be comma addicts together. :) And you keep writing, too!
