So I'm back sorry it's been awhile! I've actually been quite ill, so I've been in bed most of the time and my mind was trying to figure out who knew what and what needed to be said because as I said these chapters are all the reveal ones so slowly everyone's figuring stuff out :P... Anyway I'm hoping to get another chapter for you soon BUT I am now working ALL weekend :( and still poorly so finding time to write is fun... I just hope you enjoy this :), as always thanks for everything!
Oliver's mind wandered as he made his way back to the room. He thought of how Felicity had come to him that first night. How she'd stayed. How badly he'd treated her every time and yet still she came back over and over again. He would never forgive himself if anything happened now, especially her believing he never truly loved her.
He didn't even knock he just walked into the library. His father's eyes shot up from the book he was reading.
"Oliver, what can I do for you?" Robert said smiling softly.
"How about you actually for once in your life tell me the truth?" Oliver said closing the door behind him. Robert frowned.
"I have no idea what you mean son." He gently closed his book placing it in his lap. "I was sad to learn about yourself and Miss Smoak."
"Don't, don't you dare try and be the caring father now." Oliver spat out.
"I'm not Oliver. I know I haven't exactly always been there but I always had your best interests at heart."
"What does that even mean?" He said shaking his head. "Because you weren't there, you forced me into university even when I didn't want to-"
"I gave you direction Oliver." Robert said sitting straighter. "I gave your life purpose... You would never have met Miss Smoak if it wasn't for me." Oliver laughed then.
"Who are you?" Robert frowned.
"I'm your father."
"That might be, but I know nothing about you."
"Where are you going with this Oliver?" Robert said nonchalantly.
"I know... You can stop pretending now. I know who used to work for and I know you were involved with me working for them too." Roberts frown deepened.
"I honestly have no idea what you are talking about son." Robert stood up placing the book down on the side. "Why don't I call your mother, she's better with this emotional turmoil than me." Robert placed his hand on Olivers arm. Something inside him snapped as he wrenched away from him.
"No. Just tell me the truth!" Oliver grabbed a nearby book flinging it in his father's direction. He avoided it with a trained precision. Oliver grabbed another and another. Just throwing them in frustration and Robert avoided every single one, side stepping, blocking and ducking. Not a single one hit him directly. Oliver eyed him cautiously.
"Just lucky I guess." Robert replied with a smile. Oliver stepped forward his anger really starting to get the better of him. His phone ringing distracted him. He answered it instantly.
"We tracked her phone." Diggles voice sound louder and slightly distorted. "Used the satellite feeds to locate her. Her cars parked about 70 miles away, in a cafe. No sign of her there at all. I'm in the helicopter making my way to the scene, take me 30minutes tops to get there."
"So what are you telling me Dig?"
"We don't where she is but she isn't with her car or phone." His voice was loud but steady.
"She's never away from her phone." Oliver said as he ran a hand at the back of his neck.
"I know Oliver. The sound guys, they analysed the background noise..." Oliver knew it wasn't good from the pause.
"Tell me."
"It sounds like there was struggle. Muffled screams and dragging. I'm sorry man." Oliver span to meet his father who was still stood there. He felt utter blind rage.
"We need to know who has her Dig."
"I know I'm going to the scene now. See if there is… something."
"Thank you."
"No problem, she is my friend after all."
"I know."
"Oliver, don't do anything stupid, please remember she needs you now."
"I know." He said a little harder this time as he hung up the phone.
Even his father's reflexes were not good enough to stop Oliver from grabbing him round the throat, pushing his back into the bookcase lined wall.
"Oliver let go of me!" Robert said struggling for air.
"I don't want to hurt you but I need to know the truth and I need to know it now!" Oliver shouted.
"Oliver..." His father pleaded. Looking into his eyes seeing only fear, Oliver let go instantly and took several steps back. Robert dropped to the floor, his lungs aching as he took several deep breaths. Oliver couldn't look at his dad; he instead dropped into a chair. Had Felicity really got it wrong? Had he just attacked his dad for no good reason?
"What's happening?" Robert said as he slowly gained his breath back. Oliver glanced up then to see him pulling himself to his feet.
"You wouldn't understand."
"Why don't you try me?" Robert said rubbing his neck.
"I just nearly strangled you and you haven't even battered an eye lid. You don't look scared, you seem fine..." Oliver said eyeing him up feeling oddly suspicious. Robert sat down in his chair beside Oliver.
"You become immune to these things in the business world I'm afraid." Oliver crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.
"I don't believe that for a second."
"Well-"
"No. Let me finish!" Oliver snapped back, his dad gestured for him to continue. "Deny who you are all you want, in all honesty I don't care anymore. You haven't been a father to me in a long time not really..." He looked him straight in the eye. "But I am begging you dad, please be my father for once and tell me where she is." Robert frowned not staring away.
"Who is?"
"Felicity, tell me who has her. Tell me why they want me dead. Just tell me everything!" Roberts frown deepened in confusion.
"I honestly have no idea who has taken Felicity-"
"I love her dad." He saw his father's gaze drop for a second. "I know you don't understand that, I know you didn't love mum but I truly love Felicity."
"I've been in love Oliver I understand, but I honestly can't help you." Oliver closed his eyes.
"She might be pregnant with my child, with your grandchild." Oliver couldn't help the way his voice dropped, as the fear that crept into his chest. He met his father's gaze again then but this time his mouth was agape and his eyes wide.
"She... She's pregnant?" Oliver nodded swiftly.
"She means more to me than any other person out there so please dad... Tell me what happened with the Agency!" Roberts jaw tightened, his fists clenched and his eyes fell shut. "Are you the Magician or the King?"
"What does that have to do with anything?" Robert snapped furiously and he had never seen his father that angry before.
"Because that's what Felicity was looking into before she disappeared." He took a deep breath steadying himself.
"Silly woman should have left it all well alone." Robert shifted uncomfortably.
"Left what well alone?" Oliver said leaning forward.
"Oliver please don't do this, once we open this can of worms it will change everything." He could hear the seriousness in his tone.
"But you see dad my life has already changed because of her. And I would rather face whatever issues this brings up than live a life without her." Roberts's eyes flashed with empathy, and Oliver saw the recognition in his eyes before it faded to pain.
"This all happened so long ago..."
"It might have started then but whatever happened is affecting us all now."
"Let me explain, please." Oliver nodded.
"Okay, but I don't have too much time."
"I was younger than you when the CIA recruited me. I had no parents, no known family making it easier for their purposes. After a few years training as an agent I was asked to join a new branch The Agency. When we started there were only a handful of us. The Inferno, well you know all about him." Oliver nodded in recognition. "The Magician and I, The King, all met at university, all trained together we were like brothers."
"So you're the King?" Oliver asked frowning, all thoughts flying around his head.
"Yes, hence your code name The Prince."
"Carry on. What happened? Which of you was sleeping with The Doll?" Roberts eyes went wide.
"Her name was Diana." Olivers mouth fell open.
"So it was you having the affair?"
"It wasn't an affair Oliver. I loved her. She was carrying my child when she was murdered." Oliver frowned.
"What happened?"
"We all had missions all had things to do. The Inferno and The Magician married for love. I thought I married for love but I married your mother because she was pregnant. Her family were old fashioned, it's why I started up QC; Moiras parents wanted a business man for their daughter and that was easy to fake back then."
"Dad where is this going?"
"I have a point you just need to understand..." Oliver nodded him to continue, he would do anything if it meant getting the truth to be able to save Felicity. "We were given the Bratva mission after it was understood something big was going on in America." His eyes wandered as he clearly was thinking about the past. "The Inferno went in, it made sense he had a Russian background as you know. We kept our identities a secret to keep our families safe. Diana and I, we fell in love. She hated that life and we had both had enough. The Inferno found out, he told us we needed to get out, that he'd help us but to do it quickly." Robert stopped taking a deep breath. "The Bratva found out she was working for the Agency. They tortured her for information, on who she was working with and why. She never gave me up; she never even gave up the Inferno. But she gave them the Magician. She gave them his real name."
"She sold him out?" He said softly.
"No he sold her out. He let his own greed take over and she paid the price."
"At least she wasn't tortured further."
"No her husband killed her. He went against the Bratva orders so he went on the run but he was murdered too."
"By the Bratva?"
"No by the Magician." Oliver frowned.
"Why? The records say the Magician died and the King was presumed dead." Robert shook his head.
"Ah. The Bratva tracked him back to Starling. They got their men here to kill his wife. It derailed him, he abandoned everything for 2 years and then when he came back he was different. I didn't realise how altered he was until a few years ago. He's been seeking revenge for his wife, any Bratva member involved he slaughtered. He killed anyone who got in his way without mercy. The Agency said he was dead to avoid anyone else hunting his family and I told them I couldn't do it anymore. And the Inferno left his family behind to protect them." Oliver couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose the woman you loved, but he could never justify the killing of innocent people. Oliver closed his eyes briefly thinking of Felicity.
"Why are you telling me all this?"
"Because the Magician found out about Diana and I a few years ago, and since then he's been finding any way to make my life a living hell."
"But why?"
"He blames me for the death of his wife, for everything that's gone wrong. He threatened to harm you all, and when I told him I had had enough, that I wouldn't work for him anymore. He planted the bomb on your plane. He is the reason you lost a leg, I am the reason you nearly died." The tears glistened in his eyes. "I am truly sorry Oliver. I never meant any of this to happen. I asked the agency to train you, to give you direction in life, I shouldn't have got you involved and I will never forgive myself." Robert sighed rubbing a hand down his face. "If Felicity was looking into this then I'd say it was safe to say he has her..."
"Who is he Dad? What is he planning?"
"I have no idea what his plan is, but Isabel is involved because she blames me for the death of her parents, which is rightly so. She's in the company for that reason, to torture me."
"Who is he?!" Oliver said fighting the frustration.
"Merlyn, Malcolm Merlyn." Oliver felt his entire world spin wildly out of control.
"When he left Tommy and he lived with us-"
"It was after his wife Rebecca was murdered."
"You and him, you worked for the Agency... You're both trained killers... Tommys dad is a mass murderer." Oliver shook his head in disbelief. "And he might have Felicity?"
"I'm sorry for all of this, Oliver." Robert stood up walking towards him. Oliver stood up walking away.
"It's too late dad. It's all happened. Where can I find him?"
"I don't know. Your best bet is Isabel."
"She's at QC." Oliver said out loud walking to the door.
"I can help you Oliver." He span around to look at him pure anger clouding his vision.
"I think you've done enough dad... Lying to us all this time. Even now you could have told me sooner rather than denying it." Oliver grabbed the door handle, turning his head back. "If anything has happened to her I'll never forgive you." Roberts head dropped as Oliver slammed the door behind him.
