Next chapter's up, yeah. Thanks for all the encouraging reviews. If you have any questions let me know and I'll answer.

luvmusic87: First I planned that Magenta had her first Christmas at the age of one and a half. But I realized she's acting too grown-up to be so young. I hope this chapter will explain it.

I don't own the Mortal Instruments.

Enjoy :D

Chapter 26: Magic Magenta

Today Magenta and i wanted to try out her creation. Though she was far more mature than normal kids her age she hadn't learned anything about magic and potions. Apart from her saving Alec she'd never performed any magic herself. She'd just watched me doing it.

We wanted her to grow up as normal as possible. As normal as your life could be when you're raised by a gay couple. A gay couple consisting of a warlock and a shadowhunter. We tried hard to keep her from all violence that ruled our lives. Especially keeping her from Sebastian when we hunted him and the new race he wanted to create.

Flashback

During this time we had trouble giving her a normal life. She had missed a lot in this time of her childhood. On our hunt after Sebastian we traveled all over the world. He seemed to prefer the warmer countries maybe because he prepared for burning in hell, I don't know. We traveled to Brazil and Australia and Africa. We'd been on edge all for three years. After our honeymoon we had one week break and then we found a trace of Sebastian and we followed him. When we tracked him down Magenta was almost four years old. We hadn't had the time to celebrate the Christmas holidays as well as the Easter holidays. The only thing we came to celebrate was her birthday every year. She only had a small amount of toys with her and she was worried for her dads most of the time. We fought Sebastian on several occasions and Magenta stayed with Simon (yeah, I finally learned his name) who wasn't skilled enough to fight. Alec nearly got killed twice and it almost ripped my heart out of my chest and Magenta and I sat by him and feared for him while he recovered. Those years were brutal and all of us were glad when Sebastian was finally killed by Jace who cut his head of and punctured his heart just to be safe. When their leader was dead it was easy to hunt down everyone of his followers.

After that Magenta had already lost three years of her childhood plus the one she had with her biological mother. Alec and me now tried to make her childhood as enjoyable as possible so she could forget the pain and the fear.

Of course Alec was still a shadowhunter and he often came home with bruises and sometimes even deeper wounds but apart from that our lives were more peaceful and steady as ever. So now a half year after the final fight we decided to have a huge Christmas for Magenta. Part of her warlock side let her grow up faster than normal so she looked like a seven year old and maybe because of her background or also the warlock side she sometimes acted even older than a seven year old so there wasn't so much childhood left for her.

Said girl snapped me out of my thoughts when she entered my laboratory. I smiled at her. "You're ready little girl?" I asked her and she nodded excitedly. This time she would perform the magic that would be needed under my supervision. I had already placed the list she dictated and the ingredients we needed on the table.

"Is there a special order or do we just throw it all together and mix it?" I asked her and she watched me like a cow during a thunder*. I laughed. "I don't have this special ability. You should know how it works if you concentrate." I encouraged her. She closed her eyes. When she opened them again she seemed even more excited than before.

"I saw it." she exclaimed. "We need to throw in everything and then boil it 'till it is a smooth brown paste and then we perform the spell. It should get white by the time we finish it."

I grabbed a knife and handed her one so we could start to prepare the ingredients. But she shook her head. "We throw them in like they are." She insisted.

"But it'll take years to boil them to a paste then." I reasoned but she just threw the things into a huge cooking pot. Yes, I said pot and not kettle. We're not in Hogwarts. Then she put it on our stove and looked satisfied. I watched her in the process in awe. I was still skeptical but I trusted her.

Ten minutes later it seemed like I did good trusting her. The ingredients boiled to a brown paste and they were nearly ready. I really wondered how Magenta knew. I don't know where she got her strength from. Lucifer was my father and as far as I knew there was no stronger demon than the fallen Angel, the Prince of Hell.

It hit me like slap in the face. There was high possibility that Magenta was really related to me. Not as a daughter but as a sister. I paced through the room. Her father must have been powerful so Lucifer was the first that came to mind. The fact that she was stronger than me must mean that her mother wasn't a normal mundane but something stronger. She also couldn't be a shadowhunter because an old friend of mine had a shadowhunter and a demon as parents and she had abilities that were strong but they were much more different from normal warlocks than Magenta's were. There was only one way to find it out. I promised myself to speak to Magenta before but then I would consult my father. I would conjure him and then force the answers out of him.

It was again Magenta that snapped me out of my thoughts when she looked after her potion or paste or whatever it was. She seemed pretty proud of her work. "It's finished." She told me and I clapped my hands to appreciate her work. I stood behind her and handed her the paper where we had written down the spell. We had also practiced the pronunciation together so she wouldn't stutter or worse say it completely wrong and give it a different meaning.

"Remember what we practiced." I reminded her. She nodded and took my hands. I would promote her with my strength so the result would be even more powerful.

When she said the words the paste turned to a muddy yellow color. Well, this should be different. She eyed the result skeptical.

"I guess we need more power." I told her. "That must be the reason no one discovered this one before. Shall we call for Alec? We needn't tell him what the paste is for." I suggested.

She considered it and then ran out of the room and soon entered it again with a stunned Alec behind her. "Help us out with your strength." She told him and I offered both of them a hand. He took my hand and his other hand held Magenta's. This time Magenta took more strength of me than before. And this time we got the result we were looking for. The paste got snow white.

"What's this for?" Alec asked curious and gestured to the pot.

"Warlock stuff." Magenta and I said in unison and she struck her tongue out at him. He shrugged his shoulders and went out of the room. We would give him some love and assurance later so he wouldn't be pissed. But now we were too excited to see what our creation was good for.

Before I could tell her not to do it Magenta put her finger in the pot. And she disappeared. Shit. I should have warned her. What if it transported her into the desert or straight to hell?

Then I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. I pulled my hand up to the point where she had been standing just moments before. I sighed when I could feel her warm body still standing there. But then I panicked again. We had used lots of magic. When would this paste stop working?

I heard her soft giggle and I got confused. Didn't she get the situation?

"You should see your face now." She laughed again. Then suddenly she reappeared.

"You knew how it worked didn't you?" I poked her nose. She grinned at me and nodded. "How did you get visible again?" I asked.

"It's created so you just need to WANT to get normal. And I wasn't invisible. It uses the chameleon effect. You look like the background." She explained.

"Darling you have a great power." It reminded me of the problem with her parents. Now would be a good time to talk to her.

*Just for the understanding:

I'm not sure if the expression to watch someone like a cow during thunder exists in English but if not it means to watch someone with wide eyes.
