EPILOGUE
...
"Miranda, would you stop annoying your sister and help me please?" Bridget asks her youngest daughter.
The six year old girl giggled much to the annoyance of the elder and skipped over.
"Here," she continued handing her daughter a small box. "Take this inside and come right back please" she finished as the younger girl nodded and started skipping towards the house.
"Honestly John, I don't know what's gotten into Carissa, she loved this house before" Bridget says to her husband as they keep unloading the Uhaul.
"Who knows, maybe it's just teenage hormones, you know happy one minute depressed the next," he says as he picks up a large box.
Bridget shrugs as she goes through more boxes.
"Mommy," Miranda's voice carries over.
"Yes," she replies a little breathless.
"Why are there two people in our house," she asks brightly.
Confusion swept through Bridget at her daughter's question. Getting out of the Uhaul she walks over to her.
"What are your going on about?" She asks annoyance clearly in her voice.
Then Miranda looks up and points directly to the attic window.
"There," she says. "A boy and girl is standing right there!" She says excitement leaking in her voice.
Looking up Bridget sees the window, the one her daughter is pointing to.
But there is no one there.
Slowly turning she sees the previous owner, a kind looking older man getting in his car, this look in his eye as he peers at the same window.
"Sometimes children see what we cannot see, what we refuse to see" he speaks almost to himself. "Come Rosalie," he calls out to which an older woman walks to him before giving the house one last glance.
She cannot ignore the chill going down her spine as the couple leave the property.
