Chapter 25
Nyota.
She could here the screaming. Bones cracking. Blood splattering. Spock's roar.
From behind the inverted plexi-glass she watched her beloved annihilate the weakened human. She watched how his face twitched, smirked and laughed almost, her placid husband became an outraged monster. She had never witnessed such rage. She hit the glass with her fists as hard as she could, screaming for her K'diwa. He could not hear, see or even feel her. Burning hot streams of tears ran torrent down her face, her eyes burned from her own tears. Her throat was sore from screaming his name, he still could not find her.
She watched him as he left the bridge, his tensed and bloody form entered the turbo lift, his head hung in despair, she needed to get to him. She needed to be there for him. She needed him.
Her fists started to ache and bruises began to appear on her skin, she fell backwards in tears. She had to get out, if not, he would not find her. She got up from the hard floor and paced the room which Haji had moved her to. since she had lashed out when he had he come too close he had moved her from her luxurious room and planted her drugged form in a mirrored glass box, the only wall that she could see out of was the one facing he bridge. Allowing her bear witness to Haji's most corrupt plans. she had watched helplessly as Haji displayed what had become of Captain Pike. She had watched her Husband break down in front of the entire Enterprise, her tears were spent with him. She knew that he would never recover fully from this, she knew that this event would haunt him, even if he never admitted it, she would know.
She turned away from the transparent wall, only to face herself. Her battered body. Bruises decorated her skin. Black ad blue. Her left eye was bulged and puffed out, her lips cut from where Haji had attacked. He had gone from the obsessive carer, to an obsessive megalomaniac. He had hit her, daily. Sometimes hourly. For his pleasure, her pain.
She shut her eyes, the image of herself was imprinted in her mind. She opened them again and stared into the depths of her own eyes. Use this. Use this to empower you, do not run. fight. She nodded to herself and searched the edges of the cube for a imperfection. Haji got in somehow, she must be able to get out.
Puri
he and his team watched their Commanding officer leave in a had never seen a Vulcan so emotional before in their entire lives. Dismissing him from their minds Puri addressed his team.
He lined them up against the corridor wall, they redshirts stood with the phaser's drawn. "Right i have some readings showing a lot of life on deck 5 in room 31-35, i imagine either Pike or Uhura will be present there, because it seems, Mr Spock has dealt with the other life forms aboard this ship, however this is only an uncertain guess, we may encounter other crew members along the way so lets keep our guard up."
"Aye sir" The redshirts replied in unison. Puri felt good, it was nice to be in charge of more than just the med bay. he set off running down the corridor, his redshirts followed at his side.
They reached the end of the corridor and stepped into the turbo lift. The robotic voice called out as they stepped in:
"Destination please"
Puri froze, what if it had voice recognition? "Argh what the hell, Deck 5, please."
The lift started to move, the shift in their stomachs told them that, along with the whirring of the motors. Puri sighed inwardly.
The doors swished open and Puri and his team stepped out, the corridor ahead was not the sterilized beauty that existed a few decks above. Before them was a badly lighted, damp and darkened corridor.
The two redshirts ran ahead sweeping the area before them with their tricorders, Puri stepped cautiously behind them, his tricorder too set to full scan. All three men looked at each other and nodded to one door. Thirty-four. Behind it the tricorders revealed a life form. it read human-modification. Puri stared at his readout. Pike.
He brought his index finger to his lips in an attempt to tell them to be silent, they nodded. He pointed to the door and then motioned them to open it. They did so. the two men moved to the door panel, keyed in an opening sequence and the door swished open...
The room before them was dark, incredibly dark. So dark in fact that they had to utilize the torch on their belts to see inside the room. Three circles of light danced around the room as the three men attempted to make out the room before them. The officer to his left jumped as he held his torch focused on one part of the room, his hand shaking. The circle of light flickered on and off of the object that had scared him. It was Pike. Puri darted his torch to Pike, so did the officer to his right.
His eyes were open, glaring. The yellow pupils stared straight at Puri. His hands were still chained at the wrists and Pike bore his teeth. The sharpened bones were thick in green saliva and Puri lifted his hand palm open to tell his officers to stop. They did so. He alone approached Pike. His captain.
A tear escaped his eye duct and left a trail down his face, it splattered against the floor hitting a puddle. He looked down, his torchlight following him, Blood, Pike's blood. Puri traced it back to Pike, it was dripping from his knees, or where his knees should have been. This Haji guy wasn't the master surgeon he made out to be, unless this was intentional. To cause Pike an un-measured amount of pain. Puri moved closer to Pike, with caution. He treated him like a wild animal. If Pike's conscience was still intact then Puri would be fine, however if he had been reduced to a monster then Puri would have be incredibly careful, wary of his every move. Pike tilted his head. His eyes not moving from Puri's.
Puri tuned to face his companions, "I Think he recognizes me."
The two redshirts began to move forward their phaser's were still raised, Pike roared. His tongue lashed out towards the guy to his left. "Move back!" he ordered. "I think that he's got trust issues." His men did as ordered and Puri stepped forward again. Pike's attention was on him again, his yellow eyes burned with curiosity once more, his head tilted in recognition.
"Pike?" Puri asked gently, "Is that you?,Its me,Puri." Pike's tongue retreated back into his mouth green saliva flicked off and hit the officer behind him, "Argh!" he called out and Pike roared in response. Puri raised his arms, palms open he shushed to pike, "Calm down." Pike did so. He stopped rattling his wrists on the chains, his teeth were no longer bared.
"I think he's calming. Right i'm going to talk to him, and while i do I want you slowly move closer to him, put your phaser's away, show him you mean no harm." the two officers gulped simultaneously in another circumstance it would have been candid. "Pike?" Puri asked, Pike looked at him. "Pike, these two officers will not hurt you." pike's head tilted again. " Pike," the creature looked at Puri, his eyes had lost their former glare, and were now sullen, asif upset. "Pike i'm going to sedate you, so that i can fix you. okay?" The monster saw the hypospray, It roared.
A deep bellowing growl echoed throughout the room as he broke his chains, Pike snarled, he charged at Puri. Knocking him to the ground. Puri called out his head hit the deck, Pike lunged for him Puri did only what he could have done, he stabbed the hypo into pikes neck. The great creature's eyes rolled back into it's head, Puri watched frozen. "Sir move! he'll crush you!" Puri couldn't move, he could only marvel at what his captain had become, only watch as the beast fell. It snarled and dropped it's legs beneath himself, Puri looked up. "It has been a pleasure serving with you sir." Those were his last words. Officer Jackson stared mouth agape as the ships chief medical officer was crushed by their own captain.
He and the officer Sayles moved over to the heap that was their captain. He pulled out the stretcher from his back pack and folded it out,
"Roll him onto here, and get Puri to the Enterprise, now!" The stretcher was loaded with Pikes unconscious body, the stretcher began to hover and Jackson ran to the ships med bay immediately, quickly followed by Sayles with Puri on the other stretcher.
Spock
He searched the ship, running frantically, his tricorder showed nothing, only the four bodies on deck five, that would be Puri. He ignored it and carried on his own search. He had scanned every section of the ship and seen nothing of Nyota, he went back to the bridge. The turbo lift opened and Haji's body was still strewn dead over the command chair. He could have spit at the body.
He walked over to the science station, it was a comfort even in this terrible situation. The science station could provide him with facts, and facts are what he needed. The console blinked to life and he began to read through all of Haji's blueprints on the ship. all the scans checked out, they matched the ones his tricorder had picked is until he checked the bridge. A square, 4ft by 6ft had been detected. strange. Spock ran the scan again, this time running his tricorder aswell. The tricorder did not show the room, it had to be cloaked. Spock worked out from where he was standing where it would be.
He paced the bridge, stood infront of the main view screen and turned his back to it. he looked at the plans again. It should be straight ahead. He thought to himself. Stepping towards the back wall, he pressed both palms against it. a voice called out, "Handprint not recognised."
Spock turned and face Haji, the mans body hung limp over the chair. Spock picked him up, carried him to the wall and placed both of Haji's hands onto the wall, the voice rung out again.
"Handprint, Dna analysis matched, welcome Mr Budahba."
The wall hissed and parted. it revealed a bright white mirrored room. A woman was curled in the corner crying. His eyes widened. "Nyota!" He cried.
"Spock!" lifting her head, her tear streamed face was beaming with a ear to ear smile.
He wrapped his arms around her, she was his. His.
