Chapter 26

Note: Kittens can change people, even ninjas

~Laura's POV

I am happy-happy-happy~! I know because I am grinning very happy-like right now~

I am not at all a very good dancer so I just let Dei lead me as he has his hands entwined with mine while moving them randomly.

I giggle a little while thinking that thought as he grins to me before pulling me much closer, the music slowly getting softer as they change songs. "Are you having fun, yeah," he asks while laughing a little as I let go of his hands to just barely wrap my arms round his neck as he wraps his round my waist, making me blush a bit as we sway with the music.

"Yes, lots and lots of fun," I say with a smile while glancing to the band as a really upbeat song comes on but quickly dies down as I see Onoki walking onto the stage with Kurotsuchi and I think that's her dad by their side.

The music comes to a stop and I look round the… lower… I shall call it lower… stage area to see many people gathering as Onoki looks down to everyone with a somewhat small smile.

Deidara pulls me closer as more and more people gather round the stage and I see Inuyuki is holding Mitsuko up as Onoki clears his throat.

"Arigato, everyone here this evening, another year has gone and Iwa remains as peaceful and vibrate like it was when I was a normal ninja like everyone here," he says while looking round the crowd as I stay close to Dei as many more people come till my kimono is against his. "Let us pray that next year will be even greater than this year, thank you everyone for coming to tonight's festival and please be safe on your way home," he says with his smile as everyone around us starts cheering loudly while clapping.

I slowly look to Deidara who isn't clapping nor does he look happy, truthfully he looks quite annoyed for some reason. I glance round the crowd and I see Itachi with Kahlan close by, Itachi isn't clapping either as Kahlan looks up at Itachi, confused.

"Deidara?" I ask as he looks down to me while throwing his unhappy look out of a window… a very tall building with a window… he smiles a little while looking to Inuyuki before down to me.

"Let's get go before everyone starts to rush home, yeah," he says while grabbing my hand and starts softly pulling me out of the mass crowd of clapping people~ that sounds soo happy but it soo loud!

"Okay?" I say kinder confused as I look to Itachi who grabs Kahlan's hand before leading after us. I smile and wave to Kahlan who smiles and waves back before Itachi walks just behind us.

"Have fun?" she asks as I nod my head a little while taking a small bag of konpeito out of my sleeve, these are the best sugar sweets I have ever-ever tried.

"Try these, its konpeito~" I sing while handing her a few as she tries them before shaking her head while smiling a little.

"They're nice but not my thing," she says with an apologetic smile.

"It's fine, Deidara doesn't like them much either," I say with a shrug while eating a blue one, I love these. "Did you get anything?" I ask with a tilt of the head as she smiles happily with a small blush on her face.

"Yeah, but I'll give them out at the base," she says as I nod my head a little as I see Inuyuki and Mitsuko make their way out of the crowd and over to us as Deidara and I stop.

"Deidara-nii-san~ Laura~" Mitsuko yells while running over to us in her cutie kimono before trying to hug us both, she's so tiny and soo cute!

"Yo," I sing while hugging her back as Dei just chuckles and gives her a half hug back.

"Rin, Ren, can you two stay behind with me as everyone else heads home," Inuyuki asks Rin and Ren as they look to each other before grinning.

""Yeah,"" they say together while grinning as I blink then look to Mitsuko who pouts till Dei chuckles and starts leading the way home. I grin happily while following everyone but trip suddenly onto Kahlan.

"Sorry," I say while pouting a little and steadying myself and notice something, the strap on one of my sandals broke.

"Nuuu," I whine while reaching down to my sandal to fix but alas… proper British word there for everyone… it is broken. "No fair," I whine softly as I see Kahlan and Itachi stop and Dei kneels down in front of me.

"Come on, hmm," he says while grinning a little back to me as I smile back and take my sandals off before hopping onto his back as he stands up, holds my legs up and starts walking after Itachi, Mitsuko and Kahlan.

"Deidara-nii-san! Look-look! Come over here!" Mitsuko yells while waving her hands about, her hands hidden in her kimono as she waves us all over.

I cling close to Dei as I watch many people walk pass us, probably heading home since the moon is now in the sky… well its hidden behind some dark clouds but it's soo pretty and epic like. I cling to Dei as he walks over to where Itachi and Kahlan are kneeling down beside a box.

"They are so cute," Kahlan says while reaching into the box and picking up a… A KITTEN! She has a kitten! It a very fluffy kitten with light and dark brown fur, well the underbelly is light brown while it has little dots of light brown here and there… it's so cute!

"Dei put me down pleeease," I whine as he chuckles and puts me down just as Mitsuko picks up a black and white kitten, its mouth, neck, underbelly, paws and nose are white while the rest of it is black.

I plop behind the box and see two kittens also in there, a calico kitten is curled up in a ball and an adorable Bengal kitten is pawing at the side of the box… so cute! "Come here baby," I say softly while gently picking up the Bengal kitten which starts meowing really cutely and loudly.

"Isn't she adorable Deidara-nii-san?" Mitsuko asks Dei while showing him the curious kitten which meows loudly at him; causing him to chuckle while petting the kitten so softly like he/she will break… awe that's super cute.

"She is adorable, yeah. How do you know she is a she, hmm?" he asks as Mitsuko blinks before shrugging her shoulders in a 'I-don't-know' fashion as I pet the tiny kitten in my hands, it looks like this kitten is the smallest in the litter as well. I lift my kitten up slowly to check the gender then confirm that this kitten is a very loud girl.

"Let me see," Itachi says as Mitsuko quickly hands Itachi the kitten as Deidara glares at Itachi… Dei can be so mean at times. Itachi slowly lifts the crying kitten up softly before nodding and handing Mitsuko the kitten back, "you are right, she is a girl."

"Yay," she sings while holding the crying kitten close while petting her softly, making her slowly quiet down.

"What is going on?" Inuyuki asks while walking over to us with Rin and Ren carrying some bags while chatting to one another, grins on both of their faces… they must be planning something… yes they must be.

"Look a kitten!" Mitsuko sings while slowly running over to Inuyuki as I watch Rin throw all of her bags at Ren before running over to the box and looking in to see the calico kitten as it yawns and starts waking up.

I giggle a little as Rin picks up the kitten gently as it starts yawning and meowing at the same time.

"I see that, but shouldn't you put it back," Inuyuki says but a snap of lightening fills the… well air as I look up and see rain starting to fall as a drop hits me right in the eye.

"Owie," I say while rubbing my eye with my sleeve before petting the loud little Bengal kitten as it starts meowing loudly as it starts raining, all of the kittens including Kahlan's very fluffy one starts meowing as it starts raining.

"Inuuuuyuuuukiiii," Mitsuko whines while covering her kitten with her sleeve which seems to calm it down a bit as Kahlan, Rin and I follow her example by covering our kittens with our sleeves.

"Okay, we can keep them, we have to head home," Inuyuki says with her normal motherly smile which reminds me of Konan for a second before Deidara picks me up in a different way, making me blush as he starts running in the direction of home.

"Meet you guys there, yeah!" he calls back while grinning as I hold the small and loud kitten to my chest to keep it warm till we get to the house. Dei puts me down for a split second to unlock the door before picking me up again and walks inside before settling me down in the living room.

"Thank you," I say with a smile as I lean up and peck his lips as my thank you. I blush a little as he grins and heads in the direction of the kitchen.

"I'll make some warm drinks for when everyone gets home, un," he says as I nod my head and sit down at the large, square… kotatsu if I remember correctly… the tables with the heater and covers. I put my feet under the covers while lying down on my front, having the small and slightly damp kitten in front of me which continues to meow very loudly at me.

"Deidara~ can you bring two cups of warm milk in pleeeeaaaswseee~!" I yell to the kitchen as I get a 'UN' in reply, making me grin as the little kitten meows more while walking over to me and curling up beside me, making me yawn since the kotatsu is soo warm. "Dei, if I fall asleep can you feed the kitten?" I ask sleepily as I hear another 'UN' in reply as I yawn and lie down on the pillow while having the kitten curled up close to my chest… I think I'll call this kitten Taiga like Tiger.

"We're home!" I hear Mitsuko yell into the house as I curl up more into the kotatsu while closing my eyes completely, I wanna sleep more.

"Mitsuko, quiet, it looks like Laura fell asleep under the kotatsu," I hear Inuyuki say as I feel the kitten/Taiga rub her nose against my neck, making me shift a little while curling up more.

"Okay," Mitsuko whispers as I yawn a bit more and let myself fall asleep under the oh-so-warm kotatsu. I start to drift off as everyone separates but the sound of adorable meows continues... I hope Kahlan has fun with her kitten.

Sorry for the late update, I got caught up in some things and then I lost interest in the Naruto fandom. I still don't have 100% interest in Naruto, but it is starting to come back, I guess I just needed a break from it all. But no worries we will finish this series. And anyone else who reads any of mother stories, I WILL finish those as well. Updates for this will happen at random, probably either once a week or once every two weeks. I need to get back into my writing. However, there will be another chapter update tomorrow.

Anyways, the reason for the lack of updates is my fault and I deeply apologize but none of you lovely readers need to worry about this being abandoned. Again, I am sorry.
