Celia could tell that Aiden was feeling a little bit freaked out as two of her co-workers seemed to have descended on him as he sat in the corner booth furthest away from the front door of Charlie's but close to one of the many television sets mounted on the walls. Mel and Christie were stood at Aiden's booth laughing and chatting away with him; but from what Celia could it was them who were doing the chatting and laughing, Aiden wasn't really the type to be overly talkative. Celia stood at the bar with Jason, both looking over at Aiden's booth where Mel was clearly attempting to flirt with him; flipping her long, blonde curly hair over her shoulder and Christie was trying to sound as girly and feminine as possible with her squeaky laughs. Celia and Jason stood and watched them, letting out to the odd chuckle every so often.
'Haha ahh I suppose I'd better go and rescue the poor bastard or something.' Celia cackled as she took a clean Guinness glass from under the counter and started to fill it from the draught tap. She expertly stopped the tap as the dark liquid reached about two-thirds of the way up the glass and left it to settle for a few moments. Celia looked at the watch on her wrist, she would be finishing at ten o'clock in about fifteen minutes time. She flipped down the Guinness tap again and topped the glass up before finally shutting the tap off. She come out from behind the bar with the pint glass in her hand and made her way over to the booth. Celia saw the brief flash of relief on Aiden's face as soon as she appeared behind the two chattering girls who both separated making way for Celia to put the pint down on the table.
'Having a nice time Aiden?' Celia asked him with a grin on her lips as she slid the pint glass in front of him.
'Yeah.' Aiden replied with his raspy voice and a slight smile. 'Christie and Mel here have been keeping me entertained.'
'Wait you two know each other?' Mel said looking surprised as she furrowed her eyebrows.
'Uh huh. Aiden and I have known each other a long time now huh?' Celia said. Aiden nodded at her.
'A long time.'
There was a moment of silence in the group before Christie excused herself as a few more customers had just entered, she ran over to them and grabbed a few menus on the way to the table they had just sat down at.
'Well I suppose I'd better go do some work or something and leave you two alone.' Mel mumbled as she rolled her eyes and wandered off. Celia had to smirk at Aiden who had let out a rather audible sigh.
'Thanks for rescuing me.' Aiden said to Celia who was still smirking at him.
'I figured you needed saving. Those two can be pretty relentless sometimes when they take a shine to someone.' Celia giggled.
'So I did what you asked and found some info on Shaun Sorenson.' Aiden said to Celia.
'Excellent. Give me five minutes to finish up, I'll grab a pint and join you.' Celia replied. Aiden nodded at her as she turned to leave. Celia took off the apron she had tied around her waist as she jogged over to the door leading out to the back of the bar, saying a few quick words to Jason on the way who then began pouring her a pint of Guinness. A minute later she came back through with her coat under her arm and grabbed the now full pint from Jason at the bar. Celia quickened her pace as she noticed that Mel who was on the other side of the room had begun to saunter her way back over to the booth where Aiden was sat. As soon as Celia got there she flung her coat in to the booth and rested her pint down on the table. She saw Mel out of the corner of her eye slow down her pace and turn back around.
'So, what have you got?' Celia asked Aiden as she sipped her pint. Aiden already had his phone out and was thumbing the screen looking for what he had found to show to Celia. He passed the phone over for her to take a peek.
'Jesus Christ with a rap sheet like this he should've been prisoned.' Celia murmured. 'Two counts of assault, three overdue parking tickets and one for speeding, what else have we got here… several cases of property damage, criminal trespassing ooh here we go. Stalking. Aiden where did you find all of this?' Celia asked as she handed Aiden his phone back.
'The barely remembered parts of the Chicago P.D's system. Most of this stuff is hidden away but it was easy enough for me to find.' Aiden said.'
'So what happened then after all that? Nothing?' Celia questioned.
'No charges at all after arrest, they'd bring him in for questioning then he'd leave with barely a slap on the wrist.' Aiden said.
'Hmmm obviously Walt has something to do with it all. Either that or whoever was going to press charges knew who they were dealing with or…'
'They got a special visit. You know how the Old Man operates.'
'Oh God why does my sister always get involved with nutcases?' Celia sighed as she slumped her shoulders back. 'And what happens then if Shaun decides to start stalking her or something?'
'Just cut the head off the snake.' Aiden said as he raised an eyebrow at Celia.
'Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting Aiden?' Celia asked.
'Think about it. Nobody's ever really gone after the Old Man, it'd be easy getting info on all the bribes he hands out to court judges and the police. Shaun wouldn't have a leg to stand on then.'
Celia thought about it for a moment. Aiden had a really good point there. Nobody had ever proved just exactly how crooked Sorenson Senior was, they knew he was a dodgy guy hence why all the mob bosses and criminals with plenty of money hired him as their lawyer. But nobody had ever even tried to show him in his true colours or in fact any of the judges or police officers who had been bribed by him. People were scared of him and what he was capable of doing.
'I don't know if I could get involved in all that again Aiden, I really don't.' Said Celia as she bit her bottom lip. She felt unsure, but there was a little voice in her head that was telling her that she would love it if she got involved in that world again and the voice was telling her to do it.
'Celia what's on your mind?' Aiden asked her after he had taken a huge gulp of his pint. He only had to look at her to know she was in deep thought.
'I'd do it if I could. I wouldn't want you to be burdened by my problems.'
'Sounds like you do want to get involved Celia.' Aiden raised an eyebrow as he replied.
'Well it concerns my sister. I'm just…' Celia hesitated. 'I'm just scared that if I do what I did back in the old days that I'd get caught again and end up back in prison. Then where would my family be huh?'
'I could do it all for you.' Aiden said. Celia looked shocked at his offer, but her face soon changed.
'Absolutely not.' Celia retorted. Her pride wouldn't allow Aiden doing everything for her. He knew right now that he was fighting a losing battle trying to convince Celia that he could take care of everything should it come to that point. Celia was far too stubborn and proud to even think about letting him.
'Okay, so it sounds like you're intent on doing this yourself. Why don't I wipe you from the P.O.I. list?' Aiden suggested. Celia who was halfway through taking a mouthful of her Guinness started to cough slightly at Aiden's idea.
'You can do that?'
'It'll take some time, but I'm sure we can figure something out; make you less obvious to the system.'
Celia was speechless. She sat opposite Aiden looking a little dumbfounded. Aiden nearly laughed at her as Celia was very rarely stuck for words and she did talk a lot anyway and had some kind of answer for everything. She still sat in silence as is she was trying to process what Aiden had just said to her.
'Okay drink up. I'm taking you somewhere.' Aiden said to Celia. He quickly stood up and finished his own pint before putting the glass back down on the table.
'Where?' Celia asked, she had come round from her moment of spacing out and looked at Aiden stood beside her. She lifted her pint glass to her lips and downed the rest of the black liquid.
'It's a surprise.'
'Aiden you know I hate surprises.' Celia mumbled as she stood up. She grabbed her coat and pulled it on and made her way to the door with Aiden in tow.
'Oh don't worry it's nothing weird.' Aiden said as he tried to reassure Celia that the surprise was genuinely nothing weird at all.
Celia turned around and waved goodbye to everyone in the bar and she had to have a bit of a laugh to herself when she noticed Mel was scowling at her when she left with Aiden as he had guided his arm around her waist as they strode through the door. Aiden led her out in to the chilly Chicago night and round to an alleyway at the side of the building where there was a fairly new, rather nice BMW parked. Aiden glanced around briefly before he pulled his phone out of his pocket a pressed a few buttons. Within seconds, the locks in the car clicked signalling that the doors were now open.
'Get in.' Aiden instructed Celia. She wasn't about to start arguing with him so she did as she was told. Aiden had climbed in to the drivers seat and pulled the door to when he then started messing around with the bandanna he had around his neck. He untied the back and pulled it out from his sweater and handed it over to Celia.
'You wanna blindfold yourself?' Aiden said to Celia as he held the bandanna in front of her.
'You're fucking kidding me?' Celia exclaimed. 'Blindfold, seriously?'
'Celia, just in case you get a visit from the police about me. So you genuinely don't know where we're going.'
Celia stared at Aiden and his bandanna for a moment. She sighed and snatched the length of fabric off him and quickly tied it round her eyes; she couldn't see a damn thing.
'Happy now?' Celia huffed. She took the sound of the car's engine bursting to life as a yes from Aiden.
'Aiden are we there yet?' Celia quizzed. She felt that the car had stopped after what seemed to be around twenty minutes of driving. She had no reply from him but just after she had asked him, she felt a cold breeze down the right side of her body. She felt Aiden's hands guiding her out of the car and heard the sound of the door shutting behind her.
'Not far now.' Aiden said to Celia. He led her carefully over to a small door on the side of a large warehouse and made his way inside, gently tugging Celia in the right direction. As soon as both he and Celia were inside, he shut the door and quickly took the blindfold off her.
'It's a musty warehouse Aiden.' Celia stated, making it known to him that this was obviously not a surprise to her and quite the disappointment. Aiden grabbed her hand and dragged her through the warehouse, soon enough Celia wasn't disappointed at all with the stinky, musty warehouse. What she was seeing now earned Aiden a "woah" from her lips from what she had just seen.
'Surprised?' Aiden asked Celia.
'I'll say. Jesus Christ.'
Celia was looking at several large desks with what appeared to be some very powerful desktop computers at them with a few monitors on each desk. To her left, a rather strange humming noise could be heard. She had to gasp as what she saw; in the back of the warehouse there were rows upon rows of blinking servers. To her right on the furthest away back wall was a huge collection of large monitors. It was almost looked like a gargantuan TV screen or a theatre screen.
'So, what do you think?' Aiden asked Celia who was yet again dumbfounded by what she was looking at.
'What do I think? I don't think anything it's like, it's like a dream come true!'
'Well there's a voice I haven't heard in a long time.'
Celia stopped her gushing over all of the goodies in the warehouse and furrowed her eyebrows as she tried to remember the voice that had just spoken to her. She peeked around Aiden who was stood beside her to see a tall figure shuffling over to them. Celia screamed as soon as the figure wandered in to the light.
'T-BONE! FUCKING HELL!' She screeched. The man not more than five yards away from her started to laugh as Celia screeched.
'How's my girl huh?'
