A/N: I'm in a bit of a groove so yay another chapter! Hope you guys like this one!

As a nurse, Elizabeth would have been the first to say that no news was good news but as a mother, she couldn't help but wrack her brain with worry. Every second that went by with her boys fighting for their lives, it broke her heart. She just wanted to trade places with them and know they would be okay.

It was the same way she felt when Cam was just two years old. He contracted pneumonia from his day care and he was sick for days. She just had to watch as her baby coughed and complained of shortness of breath. There was nothing she could do and it destroyed her to know that.

Just like when Jake was older and he broke his arm or the time he was in the hospital after a serious illness. All she could do was hold his hand and be there with him.

This time was different though. There was nothing she could. She could be there for them and she had been every single moment since it happened but anything more than that was out of her control.

When they were boys they could feel it. They knew she was there and she had to think it did some sort of good. But now, she had no idea what Cam and Jake felt. She just hoped, God did she hope, that her boys knew their mother was there. And just like when they were little, she was just waiting for them to be okay like they always were, like they always had to be. There was no other alternative.

Elizabeth knew the toll of the accident, the return of Jason and AJ and the little sleep she had gotten was starting to take its toll because as she looked down the hall from her sons' rooms, she could have sworn she saw a little boy. And from behind, he was a spitting image of Aiden.

Could that have been her youngest son? Elizabeth shook her head. It was much too late and Nikolas would have said something if he was bringing him by. No, it must have been her imagination. It was too late for any child to be wandering the hospital halls by themselves.

As she continued to watch the boy, it became more and more clear to her that this wasn't an illusion. This boy was real and he seemed lost.

Elizabeth slowly walked over as not to startle him.

"Hi," she said when she got close enough that he would hear.

"Hi," the boy turned around.

This gave her a chance to take in his features. He no longer looked like Aiden but she had already known that was going to be the result. He had short black hair that curled slightly in front of his face and his eyes were a deep hazel. He looked to be no more than eight years old.

"It's really late and there aren't many people here," Elizabeth said softly. "Does your mom know you are wandering around the halls alone?"

Suddenly the boy's face froze and he looked scared. "Please don't tell her," he begged. "She stepped outside and told me to wait by the nurse's desk but I couldn't. I have to find him."

"Find who?" Elizabeth questioned.

"I don't know his name but mom said he is here," the boy sighed as he slumped down against the wall. Instinctively like she would have with her own sons, she sat down next to the boy and put her arm around him. It seemed to help.

"My name is Elizabeth Webber," she told him. "I'm a nurse. What's your name?"

"My mom said not to talk to strangers," the boy said shyly.

"Your mom taught you well then," Elizabeth smiled as she couldn't take her eyes off the boy in front of her.

"Are you okay?" he asked as he noticed her staring.

"Oh me," Elizabeth said, snapping out of it. "I'm fine. It's just, you remind me of my own sons."

"You have kids?" the boy perked up with curiosity.

"Yep, three boys," Elizabeth replied as she pulled out her phone to show pictures. "Cameron is the oldest, he's 18. Jake is 16 and Aiden is my baby. He turns six in a few months."

"Oh," the boy said softly.

"Is something wrong?" Elizabeth asked with concern.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"Sorry for what?" she asked.

"Those are your boys' in those rooms aren't they?" he asked inquisitively.

Elizabeth bit her lip and took a deep breath. "They are. How did you know that?"

"I saw their names on a chart when I was at the nurses' desk," the boy responded. "Are they going to be okay?"

"I hope so," Elizabeth sighed.

"Me too," the boy smiled. "You seem really nice. I hope they are okay."

"Thanks," Elizabeth said as she wrapped her arms around the boy. A few seconds later however, she realized what she was doing and quickly pulled away.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that," she apologized.

"It's okay," he said as he hugged her again. "You look like you could use a hug. My dad said hugs are the best medicine. Maybe I can go hug your boys."

"That's a sweet though honey," Elizabeth smiled tearfully. "But how about we find your mom before she starts to worry where you are? I know what it is like to worry about your kids."

He shrugged. "I guess you're right. Thanks for your help." The little boy grabbed her hand and then smiled. "My name is Daniel by the way, Daniel-"

"Edward Morgan," that oh too familiar voice rang out.

Danny looked up at Elizabeth nervously as her face just betrayed a blank stare. Confused, he ran to his mother and gave her a hug.

"What did I tell you about staying put?" Sam chastised. "And what did I tell you about talking to strangers?"

"I had to find daddy's son and make sure he was okay," Danny said innocently. "And she's not a stranger. She's a nurse. Her name is,"

"Yes I know exactly who that is," Sam interrupted her son again. "Go back to the nurses' desk while I have a word with Nurse Webber okay?"

"Okay," Danny shrugged, not really having much of a choice. He looked back at Elizabeth. "It was nice to meet you. Thanks for helping me find my mom. I really hope Cameron and Jake are okay."

"Uh thanks, thanks Dan, Danny," Elizabeth said as she smiled at the boy who she now knew was Jason's son.

It seemed almost impossible. Danny was the product of Sam and Jason's affair. She thought she would hate him or at least hate what he represented. But she could never hate a child, especially one as sweet and kind as Danny. And even though physically he was all Sam, the emotional connection she made with him almost instantly could only be explained because he was Jason's son. He raised that boy to be wonderful and caring just like he had with Michael, Cameron and Jake in the time he was in their lives.

Seeing Danny brought back memories of those times but it also served to give her some perspective. It didn't mean she was forgiving Jason for leaving but at least she started to understand. Jason had always been a great father and Danny was proof of that. As much as she hated to admit, he did right by his youngest. The hardest part about that revelation though was that he didn't do right by his other sons.

That's what crushed her and that's what brought Elizabeth out of this fantasy. It brought her back to reality, a reality that saw Sam, the last person she wanted to deal with, right in front of her.

"Elizabeth," Sam said sharply. "Have you seen Jason?"

"No uh, I haven't seen him in a couple of hours," Elizabeth replied.

"Well, we're here to see him and to see the boys," Sam softened a bit. "How are they doing?"

"No news is good news I suppose," Elizabeth shrugged.

"Well, I know Jason cares about his son and Cameron so I'm here to support him," Sam said.

"I know he'll appreciate that," Elizabeth said.

The tension continued to palpitate the room so Sam decided it was best to take her leave. "If you happen to see Jason, let him know Danny and I are staying with Alexis and Julian."

"I guess I can do that," Elizabeth said, wondering why Sam didn't just contact her husband herself. "Oh and by the way, you've got a great kid there. You and Jason must be proud."

"Yeah thanks," Sam said curtly before leaving Elizabeth alone in the hall again.

Taking a minute to think, Elizabeth sat down. There was a lot to process with everything that had happened. Her mind was trying to wrap itself around all of it.

The accident. Jason and AJ. Michael. The truth. The lies. The past. And now Sam and Danny?

This really had been the most complicated three days of her life. She just prayed that tomorrow would be better. She prayed that her boys would wake up and that things would go back to normal. She prayed that whatever was going on with Jason and AJ would be resolved and that once and for all, they would be in their sons' lives.

Maybe it was a lot but she had to have hope, didn't she?

A/N: So, what did ya think? I know the hatred for Sam is at an all-time high especially with recent findings but she is back and seems to be intent on sticking around PC for a bit. That means whatever she has been up to, no matter how big or small, will have a way of coming out.

As for Danny, he is a sweetheart. I loved getting to write him with such a big heart like that. Because whether he is Jason's or not, Jason raised him and I can only imagine (thinking real GH now), that if Jason had the chance to raise either of his sons, that they would have turned out to be just like how I am writing Danny.

But as always these are just my crazy opinions. All thoughts and ideas are welcome!
