The morning after the outing, Sam walked into Tony's room. Well, lab. He had claimed it for himself and it was the same place where the entire team had been fighting. Of course, the room had to be repaired of course, having had the explosion occur right beneath them, leaving a gaping hole in the floor.
Pulling her hair back into a ponytail, she made sure that the stray strands stayed out of her face before rubbing a hand over her face.
"Good morning, Sammy!" The billionaire greeted her without even risking her a glance. He was staring at a monitor before he pressed the pads of his fingers to it, obviously working on something.
The female only winced slightly, not enjoy how obnoxious he was, considering that it was nine in the morning and that she wasn't entirely ready to wake up yet, considering how precious sleep was to her. Mumbling a quiet hello, she dropped down onto a nearby stool.
"So, how was your date yesterday?" Sam just kind of groaned slightly, rubbing a hand over her face. "You two kiss and make up?"
She snorted slightly through her nose, not believing that he was actually asking that question. "No... we didn't 'kiss and make up'." She imitated him, using a lower tone and a dopey accent.
Stark just chuckled and shook his head in disbelief.
"Sam, I know you're lying to me. We're friends now. You can tell me... anything." He said as he still fiddled around with the screen before him. Sam just looked over at him with weary eyes.
"Thor and I are just friends." She told him quietly and he frowned upon hearing her sad tone. "But I'm pissed at him... So, we're kinda friends..."
"You can't stay mad at him forever. You just need to work out your differences." Stark finally looked away from the screen, stopping his work to look at her. "I mean, I honestly don't know what you see in him. Sure, he's good looking, has a great body, and is probably the only man left on this planet who has a sliver of chivalry in him and that's probably the reason why you two haven't kissed yet..."
Stark waited and gauged her reaction and found that she pursed her lips and looked away, her cheeks burning bright red.
"Or maybe you two already have kissed...?" He smiled slyly, at seeing how red her cheeks had gotten. "Oh! You have!" He beamed like a mad man and clapped his hands together in pure glee. "Thor, that dog!"
Tony continued to watch her blush and he gently prodded her with his elbow, trying to get her to smile yet her cheeks only continued to get redder.
"Lighten up, Sammy. It's not like it was your first kiss or anything..." Stark's brown eyes widened as he simply watched her twiddle her thumbs and say nothing else upon the matter. And then he realized. "You-You can't be serious?" Again she said nothing and her eyebrow twitched slightly, her lips pursed. "H-How?" He looked her over, finding that it was nearly impossible for her to have never had a boyfriend before Thor. She was a nice piece of woman. If they weren't friends and she was't interested in someone else, he would have totally pursued her. He didn't even care about the age difference. "No... You're playing me."
"There's a first for everything." She said, her eyes still locked on the floor, her cheeks still ablaze.
"So that means that you're a...?"
"A what?"
"A... virgin?"
"OH GOD!" She used her hands to cover her ears. "YES I'M A... THAT WORD." She shouted, her ears still covered. She had always been a bit squeamish about that part of relationships.
"Yep. You're a virgin." He murmured, finding it rather hilarious that she couldn't even say the word. "I think it's really funny how you blush when we talk about sex." Again she flinched and covered her hands with her ears.
"Anyway, onto a more comfortable subject..." A voice said from the other side of the lab and Sam turned then, having found that Dr. Banner was in the lab as well. Sam hadn't even known that he was in the room with them.
"Uh, of course. Sorry, Dr. Banner. So... Where do we want to start on this project?" She asked Tony who sat down on a stool across from her and looked over at her.
"Well, right now Brucy and I are working on the electrical. You aren't really needed until we are ready for the redecorating so shoo!" He suddenly stood up and walked over to her. Forcing her to stand up, he began to push her towards the door which hissed open as they approached.
Shoving her outside, Stark remained inside but peaked his head out before she could leave. "And Sam?"
"Yeah?" She turned back to face him.
"I'm kind of having this little Avengers send off for Thor and I was wondering if you wanted to come?"
"Oh, s-sure!" She said though her heart sunk in her chest when he reminded her that her friend and ally was leaving.
"It's going to be at the beach near my Florida beach house. So, suit up if you know what I mean!" He then clucked his tongue at her before winking and disappearing back into the lab.
Shaking her head at his antics, she could only smile before proceeding down the hallway and to her room.
The Thunder God only paced about his room, his temper flaring about what had occurred the day before.
He had stayed up nearly all night, trying to sort out his problems that lay before him. However, he was having a wide number of problems and he had begun to get desperate.
He was still disturbed by the fact that Samantha had taken to hugging random mortals on the street.
He paused mid step for a moment before the thought occurred to him that he may require help.
Exiting his room, he walked down the hall until he reached the lab frequented by the two scientists. Stepping inside, he found the two men inside, working on some strange building. They heard him enter and turned.
"Oh. And the God of Thunder appears. What can we help you with Big Man?" Tony asked as he looked away from one of the monitors.
Sighing, Thor mopped a hand over his face, letting his frustration clearly show.
"I seek out... relationship advice." He murmured and his face heated up ever so slightly. But that was the affect that Samantha had on him. She made him blush like a child.
"No, you mean to say 'I need help getting Sam to not hate me'." Tony replied, already knowing what the two people were going through. Thor just nodded. "Well, it should be pretty easy considering that she's never been in a relationship before. She'll be like clay in your hands."
"Well, yesterday when we went out together, we met one of her old friends..." Thor began to explain, his fists balling up in anger as he thought about the events that had occurred the day before.
"And...?"
"He was male. And they embraced." The anger inside of him continued to grow and fester.
"And you didn't like that?" Stark said as he swiped through a number of pages on the monitor.
In anger, Thor slammed his fist down upon the countertop. "Of course not! I have feelings for her!" He snapped suddenly. His nostrils flared and his blue eyes were wide in surprise at his own admittance.
He had tried to ignore them up until that moment in a desperate attempt to remain attracted to Jane Foster. However, after they had returned back from the moving picture show, he had found that he was extremely possessive of the blonde mortal.
He had found her first, therefore signalling that he had declared a silent ruling of 'dibs'.
Tony just turned away from Thor to smirk for a moment, knowing that he had been right about the feelings the Thunder God help for the blonde woman. It seemed as though both of them held feelings for the other, they just had yet to actually pay mind to them.
"Then it's a good thing you came to me!" Stark said as he turned around, intertwining his hands together in thought. "I'm the love guru and I know just how you can get her back..."
"What do you suggest?"
"We make her jealous." Thor raised a blonde eyebrow at Stark, confused about his words. How could that ever help him with his situation? "Do you have someone that we could use to make her feel that way?"
Jane. Was the first thought that came to mind. The previous day when they had visited her in the remote little town, she had kissed him. He had been completely off guard.
Apparently, the feelings that she held for him a year earlier had not diminished in the slightest, only intensified.
He had devoted nearly every single one of his nights to seeking council with Heimdall, asking him how the brunette mortal was. And she was always faring well, just as the God of Thunder hoped she would be. Thor had been immensely excited to return to Earth for the simple fact of visiting Jane again.
However, he ran into a bit of a problem when he had met Samantha.
She had also lingered in his mind for that entire year. Having first caught a glimpse of her in the compound in the desert, he had immediately felt a spark of attraction between them. Yet, he had never bothered to ask Heimdall of her.
He had only eyes for Jane in that Jane. That is, until he truly came to know Samantha. She herself had caught him off guard with her powers much like his own. Both her sharp mind and her beauty had also caught him off guard.
The God of Thunder had never expected to give his heart away so easily. And it seemed as though Samantha had taken it by force.
"I'm having a party tonight. Bring this woman and have her draped all over you, okay? It will drive Sammy crazy. It won't take long before she'll come crawling back to you!" Stark patted the blonde man on his bicep. "You got a phone number I can call?"
Thor frowned slightly and reached down into the pocket of his pants to retrieve a business card that Jane had given him the previous day. Handing it over to Tony, the man's dark eyes scanned the information before he found the bit that he wanted.
Pulling his phone from his pocket, Stark quickly dialed the number in and made the call, waltzing around the room as he talked quietly into the microphone. It wasn't a moment later before he smiled and hung up.
"Alright! Everything is good to go, Big Man! Now, we just need to get you some trunks!" The billionaire gestured for the God to follow and he slowly walked behind him, unsure about what 'trunks' were.
The time set for Tony's party was rapidly approaching and Sam frantically paced about in her room, freaking out due to the fact that she had not yet acquired a date. Running her hands through her thick hair, a disturbing thought came to mind that made her freeze in her pacing. Thor was probably going to bring Jane.
This caused Sam's lip to curl up slightly in disgust, having never liked the woman, considering that she had nearly killed her with her van nearly a year ago.
She could bring Steve if she really wanted to but she figured that he was already going anyway so asking him would just be anticlimactic. However, as the brooding blonde began pacing once again, a shot of brilliance nearly caused her to fall over.
She could bring Adam. He was in the Florida area. And the more she thought about it, the more the idea began to blossom in her wonderful mind.
Maybe if Thor saw her with another man, he would become jealous.
Oh, this could work out nicely... She thought to herself, a mischievous grin pulling back her lips as the cogs continued to turn inside her skull.
Pulling her phone from her pocket, she immediately unlocked it and dialed Adam's memorized number. So many times, she had punched this number into her phone during her year alone. So many times, she had been tempted to press send.
She had once actually. Buying a new phone, she had gotten a new number and had actually called him. She had listened as he picked up his phone and answered. Yet she found that she could not make words.
Instead, she would place her hand over her mouth and sob silently, knowing that if she wanted him to be safe, she could not talk to him.
Taking in a shaking breath, she pressed send and the phone began to ring. Raising it up to her ear, she waited with baited breath and nearly swallowed her tongue when he picked up on the other end.
"Hello?"
"Adam?" She whispered into the phone, wanting to make sure that she actually had the right number.
"Hey, Sam! What's up? I've been waiting for your call!" He said and she couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her lips.
"I'm sorry I haven't done it sooner. Anyway, my friend is having a party at his beach house tonight and I wondered if you wanted to come with me?" She crossed her fingers and wrinkled her nose up in hope.
"How could I pass it up?" He practically shouted into the phone and she jumped up and down in her chair slightly.
"Awesome! Bring a suit and I'll meet you at the movie theater we saw each other a few nights ago, alright?"
"Sounds good!" He replied.
"Alright, I'll pick you up. You better not be late!" She could hear him laughing on the other end of the phone and smiled widely again.
"Talk to you later, Sam."
"See ya, Adam."
Hanging up the phone, she couldn't help but lean back in her chair slightly and smiling up at the ceiling. Maybe, just maybe, her life would go back to normal.
Seven o' clock rolled around quite quickly for the blonde woman. She sat patiently outside of the movie theater in a car issued to her from S.H.I.E.L.D. It was a loan though she was hardly complaining about it.
Sam had nearly spit out the gum she had been chewing when the black Ferrari pulled up to the curb she had been patiently waiting beside. Needless to say, she had been very excited.
Dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a lime green tank top, a gray and neon orange stripped bikini lay underneath for when she was ready to get into the water. Her hair was tied back in a messy bun and a pair of white flip flops clung to her feet. Her hazel eyes were hidden from view by a pair of reflective aviators.
Stark had sent her the directions on her phone and she had already plugged them into the GPS feature. Luckily, the trip was only a half hour away but it was mostly on busy roads so the journey getting to the beach house would most certainly be fun.
Hearing a sudden knock on the window of the car, she jumped in her seat and looked over at him. Rolling down the window, she frowned slightly. "Don't hit the car." She warned, her aviators tilted down slightly so that she could glare at him.
"New car?" He asked, peering inside her window so he could get a better look. She just grit her teeth slightly, not liking him getting fingerprints all over it.
"Yeah and it's not mine. So if you would just get in the car and stop touching it, that would be great." She told him and he only smiled and shook his head in disbelief before pushing off the car to walk around the other side.
She always had been protective of her cars.
Sliding inside, he shut the door behind him, slamming it a little to hard in Sam's opinion. Clicking his seat belt into place, Sam shifted the car into drive and sped off down the street.
It wasn't until they got on the busier roads that Adam did start to panic. Driving at insanely high speeds, the blonde driver wove in and out of the slower traffic. Letting out a yelp, the man simply grabbed onto anything he could get his hands on so that he had something to hang onto.
"Don't like my driving?" She teased him, looking away from the road for a moment.
"Watch the damn road!" He warned her and she frowned slightly, still not looking at the road.
"Adam, I'm paid to do this for a living. I think I'm aware of what I'm doing..." She scolded him slightly, looking back to the road and calmly weaving about the traffic as she had before, completely disregarding the looks of disbelief the man kept sending her way.
