Chapter 25: The Rise of Apollyon part 1

DISCLAIMER: I do not Teen Titans.

From the depths of the darkness, as the gap widen a hand or rather a gigantic red claw appeared. A second claw emerged as both pushed the walls of earth further widening the gap. The Titans stared in horror as fire shot out of the gap. The porthole was open and something was coming out. Two red horns appeared and slowly I found myself looking into the fiery eyes of an immense monster. As he fully got out of the gap his bat-like wings shattered the remaining parts of the barn roof. I ducked for cover nonetheless I was under at least two or more planks of wood. The demon god or whatever he was inhaled deeply.

"The mortal world, it has been many years since I have been here," It said in a deep thundering voice.

"I am Felix Faust! I summoned you now obey me Apollyon the destroyer!" Faust shouted.

The demon merely lower his head slightly looking upon the human who dared command him. Oh Faust I would have loved to tell the guy what a terrible mistake he had done but someone or rather something beat me to it.

"Foolish mortal, you might have summoned me but I do not obey your commands like some lower life form demon". It paused. "However, as gratitude for summoning me I will not kill you…Slave".

"SLAVE?! THIS IS HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE I SUMMONDED YOU! YOU OBEY ME!" Faust was turning a shade of purple. Almost tempting me to laugh in his face.

"Perhaps I shouldn't be merciful to you human". The demon challenged. "But now is not the time. I will deal with you later."

My eyes immediately went over to look at Raven. She no longer bared the mad grin or the shadows coming for underneath her cloak. She simply hung there limp; unconscious and unaware of what was going on. Wonder Boy followed my gaze.

"Joker!" My attention snapped to Wonder Boy. "We'll distract the demon! You get Faust and Raven!"

"Sounds like a plan Wonder Boy". I almost laughed but winced instead.

Wonder boy obviously caught sight of this. "Are you injured?"

Like hell I would show weakness in front of hero. "No I'm fine! Just get that demon!"

Reluctantly he and his little friends left after the demon. Faust stood there with his mouth the floor. I smirked.

"Yup no wonder Bats beats you easily", I muttered.

I glanced at Raven before making my way towards Faust.

"This is it Faust, every villain knows defeat," I said with a smirk.

"NO! I REFUSE! THIS…THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! YOURS AND THOSE TITANS!" Faust bellowed.

Faust drew another knife from his robes.

"Two can play that game old man," My grin turned wider as I pulled out a card knife out of my hoodie.

I did a quick check of my surroundings. Faust held my injuries to his advantage; however, I could still remind him of his failed plan to draw out the madness, the desire to gain control and anger. It was simple really, I merely had to taunt him until he broke; I just need to watch my injuries and avoid further damage. Though say truth a broken wrist brought more pain than this…Unless I'm running on adrenaline? Man this is going hurt like hell in the morning. Faust let out a war cry as he charged at me; I dodged and kept smiling.

"Looks like your plan failed huh? Such a shame". I said in mockery.

"SHUT UP BRAT!" Faust yelled as he launched another attack.

I blocked his knife with my cards and managed to slice his robes slightly.

"Whoops, looks like I damaged your robes old man." I smirked.

"You little…" I managed to kick him as he tried to hit me.

"Bats surely must get bored with you", I side stepped his attack once more. "I mean you're sooooo predictable, it's too easy".

"AHHHHH". Faust threw his knife in blind anger.

"Oh come on! That didn't even come close to me! You could at least have the decency to aim!" I burst laughing.

I must have flinched because there was a strange glitter in Faust's eyes. He smiled as he sudden ran fast towards me; before I could react he was delivering some fast blows to my side. I found myself on the ground a few seconds later gasping for air.

"Not so tough now eh Mr. Quinn?" Faust smiled down at me.

Damn him. He knew I was injured and if I tried anything stupid he would know exactly where to hit me. I need to be extra cleaver with this. I coughed once before standing up slowly with the most insane grin I could manage. I started laughing slowly.

"You really think that would stop me? You're a bigger fool that I expected."

"You dare rise up again?! I'll teach you a lesson about calling people fools!" Faust prepared himself to deliver more attacks.

But this time I was ready for him; reaching for my cards I swift sliced his arms as I dodged his blows. Think about how much one small paper cut hurts, now image that pain in ten different places with ten different cuts. That's pretty much what I was doing to Faust; giving him ten or more paper cuts a once. Faust howled in pain as he retreated his now bleeding arms. His face turned a nasty shade of red and his eyes showed nothing but fury. I grinned. This was perfect with his fury clouding his judgment I could deliver a series of final blows.

"What's the matter Faust? Does it sting?" I sneered.

Faust was about to reply when suddenly a blood curling howl echoed throughout the city. The earth rumbled underneath our feet. I looked up and saw how the sky blue was replace with blood red.

"It has begun". Faust gaped.

"No kidding Sherlock what gave you that idea?"

Faust growled but ran outside; I ran after him but stopped dead in my tracks. The blue sea had also turned red, the Titan tower was missing one side, and half the city was either up in flames or destroyed. I felt my eye twitch, I was supposed to turn this place upside down not some demon king or whatever. I spotted Faust laughing at the side of the road. Is that what I look like when I laugh? Completely insane with uncontrollable shoulders that can't seem to stay put? No wonder people fear me, I mean it looks like he's having a complete break down or something. I snapped out of my thoughts as I rose an eye brow at Faust.

"Um old man you doing ok? You're not having a stroke or anything right?" I asked with a fake concern.

"SHUT UP JOKER! Can't you see that this is beautiful?"

"If it's not chaos created by either me or my old man or my mother then I can't say it's beautiful. It's alright I suppose".

"It's alright?" Faust muttered.

"It's ALRIGHT?!" H suddenly turned his body towards me. "HOW DARE YOU! NO ONE CAN CREATE THIS MUCH CHAOS! NOT YOU NOR YOUR PARENTS! ONLY HIM!"

"You mean the demon that completely disobeyed you and started taking over the world without you? If so head down the road and a couple blocks down you should run into him". I said casually.

"THIS IS NO TIME FOR JOKES!"

"Who said I was joking? He's literally down the road! Look for yourself!" I held back a laughter.

"Mark my words if you are lying you'll be the first sacrifice to the demon," He sneered.

"So be it," I growled.

Faust walked down the road; I took several steps back before hearing a roar and a loud thud.

"GET OFF! NO! THE JOKER SET ME UP I SWEAR!" I heard Faust cry out.

"Yeah, yeah, save it for when you're in jail". I heard Elfie say. "I never thought I would say this but thanks Joker!"

"Whatever, go help Wonder boy," I waved my hand as a form of dismissal.

Another roar erupted from the demon guy as an explosion appeared next to his head. I saw Wonder boy attempting to hit it with his 'ninja skills' and Tin man was trying to blast him with his cannon arm. It appeared to not have that much effect on the demon. Surely he must have a fatal flaw, everyone has one, I'm sure demons are no exception. If I could find the flaw the Titans have a slight chance of winning. Wait what am I thinking? What's this feeling? It's so strange…I'm a villain aren't I? Then why am I helping them? My head started to spin, the pain settled in as the adrenaline slowly vanished. I'm a Joker? Shouldn't I stand by and watch the world burn like I'm supposed to? Maybe I do but by my own hand…not by some demon…Then why do I feel so…conflicted?
