Ch. 26

Red and Purple walked together into the kitchen, the kitchen was very large and very advanced with high ceilings, bright colors, and several cooking stations, stoves, and etc., several Irken's currently hustled around cooking and talking.

As soon as the tallest entered a chef ran over to them mixing bowl in one hand, towel over his shoulder. "My tallest! I'm glad you're here." Red and purple looked around unimpressed; they had expected the cooking to be farther along than this. Both tallest noticed all the yelling and arguing. Purple pointed over to the disorganization in confusion "what's the problem?"

Red agreed placing his hands on his hips a bit more bluntly "How hard is it to cook diner soldier?" the chef bowed apologetically "my apologies my tallest." Purple checked the time and hissed worriedly ignoring his apology

"I hope you realize that the Ondskan's will be here soon! And if diner is not ready, each one of you will be in very big trouble!" The chef bowed again clearly growing frightened "my sincerest apologies my tallest! It's just that none of us can agree on what the king and prince will eat."

Red sighed nodding stiffly at the chef, with a disgusted scoff "it's not about what they eat, they aren't very picky about that. It's how it looks. So cook what you would like, but make it look…well…" Purple finished for him "Fit for a king."

The chef thanked them both and ran off. Leaving the kitchen red and purple headed silently to the dining hall, both lost in their own thoughts moving like machines at this point. Red and Purple breathed a sigh of relief when they entered the dining hall together. Thank Irk the preparation's where finished!

The dining hall was large, with a large elegant table, a strip of maroon cloth going down the center, with candles lined up. The table was already set with their finest diner ware. The room also was littered with banners bearing the Irken and Ondskinian symbol. It also had a large crystal chandelier. And against one wall on one side of the table, were Irken servants, dressed in their finest.

"Oh! Thank the stars!" purple exclaimed as they looked around happily. Red didn't have time to respond as an Irken soldier burst into the room and exclaimed loudly

"My tallest! There here!" Red and Purple exchanged looks of pure nervousness trying to ignore the fact that Irken's bursting into rooms seemed to be a pattern now, and took off running.

"Just take small steps…yeah…there you go! Careful! You don't want to trip on the skirt!" Dib encouraged, he was watching and helping Zim, who was trying to practice walking in his new outfit. Zim growled as he slowly headed across the room, staring at his feet.

To say he was frustrated was an understatement! Gaz was snickering as she watched him, every now and than making a sly comment. Gir was copying him, while Dib smirked trying his best to be supportive. There were a number of things grating on Zim's nerves.

For one, he has never worn heels like this before. They were just very narrow and a few inches high. And to make it harder on poor Zim, the skirt was very long and trailed behind him when he walked making it harder to move.

Zim was only very grateful that his garments had a long slit in the front from top to bottom, so not only where his legs visible but he could walk slightly easier.

"I will never get used to this!" Zim huffed putting his hands on his hips. Gir giggled loudly stumbling around, before he collapsed in laughter. Zim glared at him but remained silent, pouting.

Dib chuckled opening his mouth to respond but before he could respond the tallest burst into the room almost hysterically. "Zim!" Purple shouted panting, Red said nothing as he lunged forward and snatched Zim's wrist pulling him from the room "There here!"

Zim yelped as he was forced from the room, he could hear Purple telling Dib, Gaz and Gir to wait in the conference room. Zim tripped over his own two feet leaning onto Red for support as the tallest red ran down several halls still holding his wrist.

While Purple rambled worriedly behind him, "remember Zim! Bow! And wait for them to tell you to rise! And at diner never whip your own mouth! If you get some on you, a servant will clean you up!" Red screeched to a halt in front of the tall doors that led to the landing dock.

Zim had no time to process what was going on as red spun him around and reverently began fiddling with his garment, checking the seams, making sure it was laying properly. While Purple continued fuss

"And remember! My King! And my prince! Do not speak unless spoken to! And keep your pride at a minimum! Show NO disrespect!" patting Zim on the shoulder Red stepped back "Alright. Ready everyone?"

Purple squeaked shaking his head "NO!" Red shook his head with an annoyed scoff "Don't be a smeet Purple." Zim stepped behind his tallest as they both took a deep breath before pushing the doors open.

The three of them strode into the room; Zim couldn't see the Ondskan's from behind his tallest, but as the Tallest parted so that Zim was between them and in sync the three of them bowed.

Zim remained silent as he stared at his feet. He heard the tallest then speak "Greetings my king and prince." Zim had to force himself to stay still, as his heart began to beat erratically. He hadn't realized how nervous he was until he heard the Kings deep powerful voice ring out loudly.

"Red, Purple. You may rise." It was hard not being able to see what was going on, but Zim remained bowed on one knee as he listened to the conversation. He wasn't told to rise, so he didn't.

"I trust the preparations for our stay are complete." The king asked, Red nodded hands folded behind his back "Of course, and we have prepared a diner for tonight." Zim tried to breathe in and out to retain his composure, as the king nodded slowly

"Good. I would expect as such. You may go; I'd like to speak with my son's bride now, alone." Red and Purple bowed once more before they left. Zim's eyes went wide as he suddenly felt very alone. Without needing to even see them Zim knew he was being stared at.

Zim's mind reeled through the rules in an endless loop; he took a deep breath remembering how important this was. And felt a little bit better. He could keep his composer no matter how he felt inside.

It was in his nature, don't let you enemies see fear. It was something Zim lived by since he learned it as a smeet. And as the King told him to rise, Zim was not going to fail.
