Jealousy
Hideki hummed as he got his ingredients setup. He didn't want a single thing out of place. Anything one could need for baking any sort of dish, he had it out and ready.
Now, he just needed the person who was going to be joining him.
"Hiro-nii, you know you could help, right?" He called up the stairs.
"Busy. I'm on the midst of a breakthrough for Kokoro."
"You said that last week!" Hideki reminded him, hearing a loud sigh. Hideki rolled his eyes, knowing better than to get Hiro to attempt to help during a supposed break through. Even if it meant later on he was likely going to have a concussion or be moody.
"Okay. Me and Kathleen will bake without you."
He heard the doorbell ring as he hurried to answer it, finding Kathleen, holding a bag of spare ingredients, a grin on her face.
"Hey Kat."
"Hey, Deki. Ready?"
"Yep!"
Kathleen grinned, hurrying inside. She frowned, noting Hiro wasn't present.
"Is he not baking with us? I thought he was looking forward to making triple chocolate cheesecake this week."
Hideki got an annoyed look in his eyes.
"He's convinced he has a breakthrough. We both know he's not but on the off chance of Kokoro not hanging him, best to leave him be. I asked and he wasn't interested."
She pouted, a sad look coming to her eyes.
"Oh."
"But, who needs him? We got the kitchen all to ourselves."
"I guess…" She leaned on Hideki a little. "But you know what this means since he's done this for like the third time now?"
"Hm?" Hideki blushed a bit, having Kathleen be this close.
"You're my new favorite."
Hideki grinned, hugging her.
"Aw, shucks."
"And this means you're my favorite taste tester now."
"Sweet!" He pulled back a bit, giving a bow. "Well, m'lady, shall we?"
"We shall."
They soon got straight to work, chatting a little bit before putting on music, both singing along happily, laughing a bit.
Meanwhile upstairs, Baymax was keeping Hiro company. While Hiro was trying to ignore it, Baymax could tell he wasn't completely focused on his project.
"Hiro. You seem to be distracted. Maybe you should go join Kathleen and Hideki."
"No, I'm fine." Hiro muttered, but unable to help himself as he went to the top of the stairs, listening in.
"Here, you can have the first taste."
"Mm… Needs a bit more chocolate shavings in the mix."
"Good plan. You really are the best, Deki."
Hiro growled a little.
What!?
"Ah, shucks. Just me."
"But you are." Kathleen giggled. "You, Hideki Hamada, are one of the best taste testers I've ever had."
Hiro looked to Baymax.
"I think I'm going downstairs now." He told him before hurrying downstairs, seeing Kathleen and Hideki were talking as they prepared a cheesecake.
"Hey, is it too late to join in?" He asked, getting their attention.
Hideki got a knowing look as Kathleen's eyes lit up.
"Of course! Come over and take a taste!"
Hiro hurried over, bouncing bit on his heels as Kathleen got a sample for him, offering it to him.
"Here you go, you workaholic."
Hiro gladly took a bite, sighing at the rich taste of the batter, all the sweet notes. Kathleen's favorite recipe for sure.
"Wow. This always tastes so good." He smiled. "Perfect balance of flavor."
She smiled, a happy look in her eyes.
"And there's my number one taste tester."
"Heh, sorry. I've been so busy lately."
"I understand but you need to relax more often and I know I sound like a broken record along with my friends saying that but it's true."
Hiro shook his head, bringing an arm around her.
"Nah, sometimes I need a reminder and I was pretty rude to Deki earlier too." He looked to his twin giving a sheepish look. "Sorry, Bro."
"It's cool, we feel ya. But doesn't mean we're not giving you a hard time sometimes." Hideki grinned. "Like you do to me and Dashi."
"Fair enough."
Kathleen nuzzled him.
"I just want my best taste tester to not miss out on anything."
Hiro nuzzled her, sighing in content.
"And I don't wanna miss out on my favorite chef's cooking… or miss out on time with my best friend."
"So… we got more stuff we're gonna make while this bakes. You wanna help?"
"Of course!"
"Let's get to it then." Hideki offered him an apron, Hiro gladly tying it on before the three got to work, putting the music back on… blasting it as loud as it would go.
"HIRO! HIDEKI! KATHLEEN!"
"SORRY AUNT CASS!"
