As if Gibbs wasn't having a bad enough day. Now something may be seriously wrong with JL. What if it was something fatal or life threatening? The two children he had lost were more than enough. Watching Tony die of a terminal illness was torturous and he was a grown man. JL was just a little six-year-old baby. JL was crying out in pain from Jane's arms.

"When did this start?" Gibbs asked.

"The kids and I ate dinner at the Johnson's house. He was fine the whole time we were there but he started complaining of a stomach ache on the drive home. I thought he had just eaten too much. So I poured out the rest of my tea and gave him the cup just in case. Then when we got home I put him to bed and told him to sleep it off. About forty-five minutes ago. I went into check on him and he was doubled over in pain." Jane explained.

"Is Liz OK?" Gibbs asked.

"She was just fine in fact she was eating ice cream with the other kids." Jane replied.

"They usually get sick at the same time." Gibbs commented.

"I know that's what concerns me." Jane replied

"Today has been horrible." Gibbs replied.

"What happened?" Jane asked.

"I went to see Tony and my girls. When I was there Senior and Jeanne showed up and started smashing Tony's grave." Gibbs explained.

"I wish I could say I was surprised but both of them are pretty heartless." Jane replied.

"Jeanne is having his baby." Gibbs sighed.

"That will be a lovely child." Jane snarked.

"At least Senior will finally have his mini me." Gibbs replied.

"What are you doing here?" Jane questioned.

"Ziver, she started hemorrhaging and now she's in a coma."Gibbs explained.

"Oh Jethro." Jane replied.

"Now JL might be really sick.. I can't take anymore I just can't." Gibbs replied.

Part of Gibbs wanted to ask Jane if he could just leave but JL needed him. As tired and stressed as he was. He had to put family ahead of himself. He sat beside Jane resting his head on her shoulder. She held him close and tried to reassure him. While they waited in the pediatric ward waiting room for news on JL. The child had been whisked away for tests upon arriving in the pediatric unit. That was almost half an hour ago now. Gibbs glared at the cutesy paintings on the walls. It made him sick to his stomach. He knew that it was meant to make the kids feel better but it only made him feel worse. The animal prints on the walls were way to cute for a place where a person may learn that the child was dead or dying. Another half hour passed without any news.

"Are you Jackson Liam Gibbs's parents?" A doctor asked.

"Yes" Gibbs replied.

"I am Dr. Stewart." The doctor introduced.

"What's wrong?" Jane asked.

"Jackson has acute appendicitis and his appendix already burst." Dr. Stewart explained.

"Where is he?!" Gibbs demanded.

"He has been rushed into surgery. It is going to be a couple of hours before he is out." Dr. Stewart replied.

"He has a twin sister Liz should I be worried about her too?" Jane asked.

"Elizabeth already had her appendix removed just after her second birthday as the result of an accident where she walked into the coffee table. I can't believe you don't know that." Dr. Stewart explained.

"Jane is Liz and JL's stepmother. They aren't even my kids naturally. I inherited them after my cousin died. I didn't even know they existed until I got the call that him and his wife were killed in a car accident last year." Gibbs explained.

"I am sorry for the misunderstanding. I am off duty now but a surgeon will let you know when Jackson is out of surgery." Dr. Stewart explained.

After their conversation with Doctor Stewart, Jane excused herself to call Robby and tell him what was going on. When she got back Gibbs took a break to go and check on Ziva. She was still in the coma and so far was not responding to anything. Very soon Gibbs may have to make one of the hardest decisions of his life. He slowly made his way back up to pediatrics stumbling up the stairs because the elevator was too crowded for his liking. Two and a half hours passed before JL was finally out of surgery.

"Family of Jackson Liam Gibbs?" A doctor called from the doorway.

"That's us." Gibbs replied.

"I am Dr. Hill and I preformed Jackson's appendectomy. I am happy to say that everything went very well and he should be waking up any time now. You can go and see him if you would like. Dr. Hill explained.

"How long will he be in here?" Gibbs asked.

"Typically after an appendectomy with a ruptured appendix the patient stays in the hospital for five and a half days. So he will be home by Wednesday afternoon." Dr. H explained/

"How long can we stay with him?" Jane asked.

"Just a few minutes for today since visiting hours are over but you can stay longer tomorrow." Dr. Hill replied.

Jane and Gibbs spent half an hour with JL before being kicked out by the nurses. Jane went home to the kids. While Gibbs stayed behind. He returned to labor and delivery and made his way to the nursery. Unlike the other wards of the hospital people came and went from this one at all hours of the day. The only thing was the nursery was locked and the lights were off. He held up his phone near the glass and made out the outline of his grandson. He swore he could see the DiNozzo smile even in the dark. It broke his heart that this sweet and innocent little child may never get to know either of his parents. His dad dying before he was born and his mom dying with his birth. If Ziver died he would become the legal guardian to the infant. It was yet another of the promises he made to Tony on what ended up being his deathbed. Even though he couldn't see it the words "Baby Boy David" typed on the little note card taped to the crib, broke his heart. The child was six hours old and didn't even have a name. Ziver wanted to name him for his dead father but Tony didn't want a third Tony DiNozzo in the world. A fact that he never had the heart to tell Ziva that. Ziver if only the child was a girl so she could honor her mother as well.

"Which one's yours?" A nurse asked.

"Baby Boy David." Gibbs replied.

"That's a sad story." The nurse sighed.

"It is." Gibbs replied.

"How are you related to him?" The nurse asked.

"His father was my son." Gibbs sighed.

"I am so sorry." The nurse replied.

"Thanks" Gibbs grunted before turning and rushing out of the labor and delivery unit. He couldn't deal with anymore today. He just couldn't.
