Chapter 25: Some Progress

A/N: I'm back with another update! Please read and review and I hope you enjoy it!

The next morning Rocky got to school feeling a little hopeful. The fact that Adam was talking to someone at the park and especially that the someone was a she was a good sign. He so hoped they could work things out and get back together because they were so close and they deserved to be happy. He also knew all this fighting between everyone had to stop. It was tear the team and their friendships apart.

He knew it was up to Adam and Trini to work things out between them but maybe there was a way for him to bring the group back together. He thought about this as he opened his locker and took out the books he would need for his morning classes.

An idea was starting to come to him when a voice spoke in his ear. "Hey, good looking!" It said warmly.

Rocky found himself grinning as he recognized Jason's voice. "Hey yourself, handsome," he replied as he turned around.

Jason grinned back and squeezed his hand. "You look a little happier this morning," he said. "Did something happen?"

He nodded. "I think I have a way to bring the group back together," he replied.

"That's cool!" Jason exclaimed. "We sure need it! What is it?"

Rocky hesitated. "I haven't got all the details worked out yet," he said. "And I don't even know if it will work." His tone was uncertain. The more he thought about it, the more uncertain he became.

"Hey, don't be so hard on yourself," Jason told him, putting his hand on his shoulder. He hated to see his boyfriend so unsure of himself. Rocky was so smart and he just wished he'd see it for himself. "I'm sure it's great. Will you tell me what you have so far?"

Rocky sighed, but he really didn't have anything to lose, so he outlined the parts of his plan that he had so far.

When he was done, Jason smiled. "Baby, it's awesome!" He exclaimed happily. And it was. It only needed a few missing details, but he was confident that between him and Rocky, they could be worked out.

"You really think so?" Rocky asked, not quite believing what he'd just heard.

Jason nodded. "I know so," He said firmly. And I also know that between us, we can get the last few details worked out in no time!"

"I really hope so," Rocky told him, his voice soft. "We're falling apart and it scares me." These were the best friends he'd ever had(aside from Aisha), and he didn't want to lose them or to have the group split apart.

Jason wrapped his arms around him. "That won't happen, love. I promise," He said reassuringly, holding him close.

Rocky felt better, but that could have been because he was in his boyfriend's arms, or maybe it was his reassuring tone and words. Either way, it felt good.

"Hey, I hope we're not interrupting anything!" Zack exclaimed as he and Tommy came up to them.

"Actually, you sort of are," Jason said as he and Rocky reluctantly pulled apart.

"Sorry about that," Tommy apologized. "I just wanted to know if Rocky had talked to Adam and if he knew what was going on between him and Trini."

"All I know is that Adam was at the park talking to someone yesterday and that it was a her," Rocky replied hurriedly. He just wanted to get back to Jason. "That's all his mom knew when I called his house."

Jason nodded. "Yeah," He agreed, not taking his eyes off Rocky. "We're hoping it was Trini and that are trying to work things out, but we don't know for sure."

"We can only hope," Tommy replied.

"Yes," Rocky agreed, his eyes still on his boyfriend.

"And we haven't seen either of them yet this morning," Jason added.

"Darn," Tommy said. He was disappointed.

"Hopefully, we'll see them at lunch," Rocky put in.

Tommy nodded. "I hope. But now I have to go. My pre-calculus teacher wants to see me."

"Oh, that sounds like loads of fun!" Rocky quipped. Jason giggled.

Tommy just rolled his eyes. "Very funny," he said. "See you guys later." He hurried off.

Rocky smiled at Jason. "Finally," he said.

"He does have a habit of rambling on and on," Jason agreed. 'Anyway, might I suggest we return to what we were doing when we were interrupted."

Rocky grinned. "Great idea, baby!"

Jason smiled back. "So where were we again?" His tone was light and playful.

"I think I know," Rocky replied slyly. He reached out and took his boyfriend in his arms.

"Yep, this is definitely it," Jason agreed as his arms came around him. The both relaxed as they held each other close.

Later, at lunch, Tommy, Kat, Rocky, and Billy were at at table when Jason came walking up.

"Hi, Jase!" They all greeted him.

"Sit here,' Rocky added, scooting over.

Jason grinned and sat between his boyfriend and Tommy. "Man, Mr. Wilton's class was brutal today!"

"His classes are always brutal," Tommy said. "That's why he's the toughest teacher at Angel Grove High."

"Oh come on, guys, he's not that bad," Rocky put it. "He's tough, but he's fair."

"To you maybe, because you're his pet!" Tommy replied.

"I am not!" Rocky protested. The idea was ludicrous! A teacher like Mr. Wilton wouldn't and didn't have pets!

"Uh huh, that's why he never yells at you or anything," Tommy countered.

"He doesn't yell at me because I don't goof off or horse around in his class." Rocky came back.

Tommy started to speak but Jason cut him off. "No one is his pet. He's not that kind of teacher. He-" Jason cut himself off as something caught his eye. It was two people who had just come into the cafeteria. He grinned broadly.

"What is it Jase?" Asked Zack, who's back was to the entrance.

"Yeah, what is it?" Rocky added.

Jason grinned again. "It's not a what, it's a who," he replied. "In fact it's two whos." He waved them over.

"Jason, will you just stop beating around the bust and just tell us-" Rocky stopped in mid-sentence when he spotted who it was. "Oh my gosh!" He squealed happily, bouncing around in his heat.

Tommy spotted them too and smiled. "That's a good sign!" He exclaimed.

And it was. Coming toward them was Adam and Trini carrying trays with their lunches on them. They reached the table and everyone scooted over to make room. Putting their trays on the table, they sat down. "Hi guys," Trini and Adam said shyly.

"Hi, guys," they all replied.

"Hey, does this mean you guys are working things out?" Rocky asked, hope in his voice.

"We're working on it," Adam answered. That was met with grins all around.

"That's great news!" Rocky exclaimed. I know you can do it!"

"We're trying," Trini said, the hope evident in her voice.

"That is so good to hear," Tommy said. "We're all behind you guys." This was a great sign. If they did work things out, that meant the team was one step closer to being back together again! Of course, he and Kat still had things to work through, and he wasn't sure where things stood with Tanya, but was hopeful that those things would work out too.

"Thanks," Adam replied. He grinned shyly. "That means a lot."

They were all grinning and feeling optimistic. "We should celebrate!" Rocky exclaimed.

"Yeah!" Tommy agreed.

"Whoa, whoa!" Adam broke in. "I think you're getting a little ahead of yourselves."

"What?" Rocky asked, shocked. "But you and Trini just said you were working things out!"

"We said we're working on it," Trini corrected. "We still have some talking to do."

Adam nodded. "It takes time." he added. He patted Rocky's shoulder. "Don't worry, if we are able to work things out, a celebration will definitely be in order!"

"For sure," Trini agreed. "We just need a little more time."

Rocky felt a little better. "Ok, just let me know when and I'll take care of all the planning," he told them.

"Hey! That ain't going to work, babe!" Jason exclaimed.

"Huh? Why not?" I can plan great parties!" He said, upset. And he could too! He didn't understand why his boyfriend wouldn't want him too!

Jason smiled. "Do you really think that I and the rest of us would let you do all the planning?" He asked, playfully punching his shoulder. "We want to help too!"

"That's right," Tommy agreed. The others nodded.

Rocky blushed, feeling pretty stupid. "Yeah duh," he said, shaking his head. He was a moron for not realizing what Jason meant!

"Hey, don't worry about it," Jason assured him. "I know you through great parties, and the others do too." He smiled reassuringly at him. The others nodded.

"I can't help it," Rocky replied. "I just made a fool of myself for the second time in under ten minutes." He hung his head a little. He wondered if he would ever stop doing that and if Jason would ever get tired of it and walk away. That thought scared him more than anything!

Jason put a hand on his shoulder. "Look at me," he said gently, but firmly. Rocky reluctantly looked up at his boyfriend. "You did not make a fool of yourself! You got a little carried away in your excitement is all. People do that all the time. It happens. It's not a crime." He hated to see Rocky beating himself up like this!

"Jason's right," Tommy agreed.

A mischievous look suddenly came into Jason's eyes. "But I know you can make up for it," he said, slyly.

"And how's that?" Rocky asked, puzzled by Jason's abrupt change of tone.

Jason grinned. "Like this." He looked Rocky straight in the eyes and subtly puckered his lips.

Rocky grinned back as he got it. "You got it." He leaned forward and kissed Jason gently on the lips. Then he started to pull back but before he could, Jason's arm came around him, holding him close as he kissed him back deeply.

Rocky slipped his arm around him as he started to lose himself in his boyfriend's embrace and love.

But before it could get any further Tommy's voice broke in. "Uh guys, I think that's enough."

With a groan, they pulled apart. "Tommy, what are you talking about?" Jason asked, not taking his eyes off Rocky. "We're just-"

"I thought you were ok with us," Rocky added, interrupting Jason, but not taking his eyes off him.

"I am," Tommy assured him. "It's just that I don't think the cafeteria is the best place for that kind of PDA," he explained.

"Oh," Jason said quietly.

"We do have a tendency to get carried away," Rocky added.

Tommy nodded. "I know, and if it was just us, I wouldn't care. But the whole school is right here and probably saw that."

Jason knew he was right, even though he personally didn't care if the whole school saw them. But it might bother Rocky and even stir up stuff and he certainly didn't want either of those! But he did notice that Rocky looked disappointed and wanted to reassure him. "He's right, love," he said softly. "But don't worry, we'll pick this up right after school."

"Right where we left off?" Rocky asked him hopefully.

"Exactly right where we left off," Jason replied firmly.

"I'm already looking forward to it," Rocky said.

Jason smiled. "Me too!" And he was. He couldn't wait to get his boyfriend alone!

Across the table, Zack had tuned the whole conversation out. As happy as he was for the two of them, he was feeling sad. Tanya had entered the cafeteria and made her way to an empty table. Now she was eating alone and Zack felt so bad for her.

He heard his friends laugh and suddenly came to a decision. "Excuse me," he told them, standing up.

"Where are you going?" Tommy asked him.

"I just remembered something I have to do," he answered, not wanting to tell him the truth. he didn't know how any of them would react. And before they could ask any more questions, he hurried away.

"That was weird," Rocky said after he was gone.

Tommy nodded. "It was," he agreed. "But he has been acting a little weird lately."

"And I see something weirder," Jason added. He pointed across the cafeteria.

They all looked where he was pointing and saw that Jason was right. It was weird, and surprising. Tanya was by herself at a table and Zack was sitting down by her!
