XXVI.
One hour had passed and Jeremy still laid unconscious. Kol was really beginning to panic. How could he have been so stupid? How could he not have realized that he was killing the kid? He had taken way too much of his blood... Way too much... Once again, he had lost control.
He put his face in his hands and sucked a deep breath. He was an idiot.
What was he supposed to do now? Could he give him his blood? Would he put the kid in jeopardy? He set about pacing up and about the room, his hands tied behind his back, thoughts racing in his mind. Jeremy was a Hunter, which meant that he had enhanced healing abilities – not anywhere near a vampire's though, but they could be enough. Or the kid could never awake and die. Both were possibilities.
The Original sighed and cast a worried glance at the disheveled form on the bed. Kol's hands had left reddish prints on both his arms, and the skin was slowly turning an ugly purple. His fangs had greatly damaged his jugular which was still pouring regular trickles of blood. A bluish bar smeared across his chest, from his right rib cage to his left shoulder, as the result of Kol's arm gripping him so tight. He probably had a few broken ribs too. Kol closed his eyes briefly and inhaled through his nostrils. He did not want to check what other damages his Original impulses had produced on the frail body.
His poor Darling.
He sat back on the bed and looked at Jeremy, hoping for him to gasp and wake up. After thirty minutes, he concluded that nothing of the sort would happen. Jeremy's breathing was getting more shallow by the minute. The kid was dying. He could not heal him, he could not leave him.
There was only one solution left.
"When I said, bring me the Hunter, I meant alive!" Aaron remarked sarcastically, giving Kol a disapproving look which was soon matched by all the persons in the room.
"My Darling is alive!" Kol vehemently countered, sending his "brother" a murderous glare to which Aaron replied by a roll of his eyes and a smirk.
"Well, not for long!"
"My God! What did you do to that boy?" Rebekah asked after she had checked what was checkable.
"Do we really need to ask?" Elijah intervened, his tone low and ominous, "This boy is still a child, Kol. Don't you have any moral left?"
"Eh eh eh! Everything physical between my Darling and I is always consensual" almost, a little voice rang in his head which he disregarded with a violent shook, "He even invited me inside his home! I never meant to hurt him... I just got... a little bit carried away..." he looked down in shame.
"Carried away?" Rebekah exclaimed.
"A little bit?" Aaron joined too as he assessed the damages more closely.
"Yes, in the waves of passion!" Kol replied, irritated, "Oh come on, Rebekah! Don't tell me it never happened to you!" Rebekah looked away, "Right!" Kol pointed out triumphantly, "Besides he's the one to have seduced me... I only came to talk and he went all Succubus on me! How was I supposed to resist?"
"Aw, you poor baby! A sixteen year-old human boy seduced the dangerous one thousand year-old sociopath. Life is so cruel! You're such a victim..." Rebekah mocked him, he stuck his tongue out at her.
Elijah sighed as he listened to the boy's breathing, "He's very, very weak. He needs healing before he fades for good."
"What about our vampire blood?" Rebekah proposed.
"NO!" Aaron suddenly yelled, startling everybody. The wizard calmed down and spoke more softly, "Jeremy Gilbert is a Hunter, vampire blood is poison to him. Never give a Hunter your blood, they would die a horrible death."
"Oh! Good to know"! Rebekah distractingly noted.
"Could we go back to the problem at hand?" Kol insisted, aggravated, he turned to Aaron, "Is there anything you can do or must we bring him to the hospital?"
Aaron shook his head and knelt beside the sleeping form on the couch, "He is too far gone. No apothecary could save him now. That poor kid... You really did wonders on him..."
Kol cut in angrily, "But you can do something, right?" Because if you can't I'll send you back to that sarcophagus of yours!
My magic can save him, no need to turn to threats, brother, an amused voice rang in his head.
He glared at Aaron, "Stay out of my mind!"
The warlock chuckled and placed his hands above Jeremy, fingers apart. They began to glow with an eerie blue light and Jeremy's wounds ebbed away. The bruises faded, the bloody gash closed.
"That's handy!" Kol commented upon seeing Jeremy healing so efficiently.
The boy's eyelashes fluttered, his facial muscles tensed and he opened his eyes, coughing a little. Kol rushed to his side.
"My Darling, how are your feeling?"
Jeremy looked lost and confused.
Kol turned to Aaron, angry, "What did you do to him?"
The warlock blinked, "I have just brought him back from the brink of death! It may be a little unsettling."
"Kol?" Jeremy asked slowly, "What happened?" he looked around him and began to panic when he saw all the Mikealsons staring at him. He turned to the Original with betrayal in his eyes, "What am I doing here? Are you planning to kill me?"
Kol swallowed, his heart beating furiously in his throat, "Kill you? No! Of course not, Darling! I brought you here to save you!"
"What happened?" Jeremy's voice croaked.
"Kol gave you a Kol ride!" Rebekah explained, "Can't you remember it?"
Kol glared at his sister and began to jump from one foot to the other nervously, "What do you remember?"
A few seconds passed during which the human got lost in thoughts. Finally, he locked a stormy gaze into Kol and puckered his lips accusingly, "You killed me!"
The words were shoved like a thousand fists in his chest, "I... No! It was an accident! And I didn't kill you! I just sent you to sleep... for six hours... I'm so sorry, Darling!"
Jeremy held his gaze a bit longer, then lowered his head and shrugged, "I suppose that I saw it coming..."
I shouldn't have trusted you, Kol could almost hear the bitter words in his mind and the pang he felt gripping at his heart twitched viciously, "I lost control..." he softly apologized.
Jeremy still refused to meet his gaze, "I know..." he looked at the other Mikealsons who were staring at their exchange like visitors in a zoo, "Are you gonna let me go?" he sounded tired.
"Actually, there's something we need you for," Rebekah began
"It can wait," Elijah cut in.
"What?" she cried out, "No! We don't have any time to waste!"
"The boy has almost died, Rebekah, thanks to our clever brother, he needs to rest."
The girl looked absolutely offended, "I can't believe it!" she turned to Aaron, "What do you think?"
"I think Elijah is right," Aaron, "The spell requires a lot of energy, from both sides. It would be ill-advised to use it now."
"What spell?" Jeremy looked alarmed, "What do you want to do with me?"
Kol reached to him, "Relax, Darling, it's just for your markings! Nothing extreme!"
The kid pushed him away, "My marking only grows when I kill vampires! I don't suppose you brought me here to perform an Original genocide?!"
"Well, we could still sacrifice Nik," Rebekah proposed, "I mean, sure you'd loose all your family and friends, but that'd be for the greater good!"
Elijah's tongue clasped against his pallet, "You're lucky Niklaus is not here!"
"That's why I'm proposing... Or Kol, we could sacrifice Kol! No one is related to him and he almost drained you dry! I say kill the bastard!"
Kol sent her his deadliest glare to which she replied with a sweet smile.
"No one is going to kill anyone!" Aaron promptly interjected.
"But we don't have time to lose! The others may always have found it!"
"And how so? They have no map, no location, no tools. We can wait a day or two. Besides I still have some ingredients to gather."
"But..." she tried again but Aaron looked at her straight in the eyes, "You're right, we can wait!"
Aaron smiled, then turned to Jeremy who was looking at him suspiciously, "Go home and rest, I do not mean you any harm, I swear."
Jeremy blinked, "You're the brother Kol rescued," Aaron nodded, "You want to destroy Silas?"
Kol could feel a familiar argument rising, he cut to the chase, "Jerbear I'll drain you dry again if you mention the cure again!"
Jeremy glared fiercely at him, "I'm going home now," he announced deadpan, getting off the couch.
The blood loss coupled with the magic he had received made him lose his balance. Kol rushed to his side, "I'll walk you home!"
Jeremy pushed him away, "No! You stay away from me!" he walked past him into the hall, "Just stay the Hell away from me!"
Kol could feel his blood boil. He followed him suit angrily, "May I remind you that you were the one to have sexually assaulted me?!"
"I don't want to talk about it!" he mumbled as he grabbed the door handle.
Kol slammed his hand on the door, blocking him effectively, "You never want to talk about it!" he harshly accused.
Jeremy quivered under his accusations and tried to open the door, "Let me go!"
"You never want to talk and that's your problem!"
"And you're awfully talkative for someone who doesn't understand emotions!"
Kol ignored him, "I came to you so we could talk about Aaron's deal in a civilized manner, but you didn't let me speak if I reckon!"
"I didn't have anything to say to you!" the human hissed disdainfully.
"No, you preferred going all tease and wanton instead! Not that I'll complain but do admit it already! You initiated this!"
"And then you tried to kill me!"
Kol could feel dark veins swell beneath his eyes, his wrath almost blinding him in a bloodlust haze, "First, I never tried to kill you! It was an accident! Second, I'm a bloody vampire and you let me feed on you! You know how easy it is for me to get carried away! Especially considering how much I love you!"
The muscles in Jeremy's neck had tensed, his nostrils flared and his eyes bulged, "Stop! Stop using words you can't understand!"
That was it! In a blind rage, Kol grabbed Jeremy by the throat, fangs glistening in his half open mouth, "Why do you do this?" he spat, "What game are you playing at? Do you like to hurt me, Jeremy? Do you like pain? Because I can give it to you, Darling! I can give you so much pain, you'll lose yourself in it!" he tightened his grip around the boy's neck. The latter had closed his eyes and was giving in, his breath short and shallow. Kol could feel a vicious satisfaction curse through his veins as he watched the boy surrender and submit.
"Gentlemen, what are you doing?" Aaron's voice peered in cheerfully, while sipping a brick of chocolate milk from a straw.
The Original and the hunter were too far gone to hear him. The warlock sighed a little and separated his hands from one another, as if in a prayer. The movement echoed on the two protagonists who were equally disunited and seemed to float in the air a bit until they landed half an inch from one another.
The powerful warlock let go of his straw, "You know, you really should work on those unresolved issues of yours! Domestic violence is not cool! I can get you in touch with a wonderful couple counselor if you want!"
"Mind your own business Aaron!" Kol muttered angrily.
Jeremy massaged his sore throat, "We're not a couple," he spat, opened the door and disappeared.
Kol closed his eyes and sighed. The heavy silence was only disturbed by Aaron's sipping.
"What a charming little lad!" the warlock smiled against his straw.
Jeremy was walking aimlessly in the dark Mystic Falls, hands in pocket, eyes lost on the horizon. He could only think about one thing: Kol.
The Original's face haunted his mind eye, his deep voice rumbled in his ears, his touch ghosted against his skin. Kol was everywhere. Kol had become everything. He kicked a stone angrily and sniffled. He could still feel the blood leave his body to be aspired by the Original's hungry mouth in the deepest of kisses. The way he had held him, so fierce and strong, inescapable. He could still feel the ghost of Kol's hands around his neck, gripping him, chocking him. In the last twenty four hours, Kol had almost killed him twice, and twice had Jeremy hoped he would.
It was late. Most inhabitants had gone to shelter themselves in their houses or the nearby community lots. The restaurants and bars were buzzing with music and jest, filling the night with their life and light. A couple was kissing a few inches from Jeremy. Their embrace, sweet and loving. It made Jeremy retch and cringe. How could two persons embrace each other and still keep on smiling? He cast them a dark glare and resumed his broody walking.
His feet brought him to the Grill. How convenient, he thought. He pushed the doors open. Dozens of people had gathered inside. Some were playing pool, others were jesting around the tables and at the bar. Loud music barked through the speakers.
He settled on one of the stools and tapped his fingers on the counter. Matt was washing a glass.
"Jer? Are you alright?" he asked after he had seen him, "You look like a zombie!"
"I'm fine... Can you get me a drink?"
Matt frowned, "You sure you alright?! I didn't see you today. Where have you been?"
"Out... I had a tough day... I need a drink, please?"
Matt puckered his lips, "I don't know man, you don't look too good..."
"Give the chap what he asked! It's on me!" a southerner voice drawled beside him.
Jeremy turned toward his benefactor. He looked to be in his late twenties and had honey blond hair and deep brown eyes – eyes he was currently using to compel vervain free Matt. He was a vampire. Of course he was a vampire! This town was filled with vampires!
In all honesty, Jeremy could have refused. And then let this honey blond vampire kill him in a black alley. But he needed to get wasted and was not going to let the opportunity go, even if he was to die right after.
The vampire may have sensed his abdication for he asked, "What do you wanna drink?" his eyes shinning significantly. He wanted to make dinner out of him.
"Bourbon."
The vampire smiled and ordered.
They drank too many shots for Jeremy to remember. His mind was deliciously buzzing. It was the moment when nothing mattered because everything felt so distant, nothing was real. The strong alcohol made his throat and stomach burn. The music spun in his ears, combined to the voices of the patrons around him.
The vampire whose name was Peter – or something like that – spoke but Jeremy was too inebriated to decipher what he was saying. He looked lovely, with his rich caramel eyes and the strong features of his face. He had nice hands. And his accent sent chills down Jeremy's spine, quite similar to the chills he felt whenever Kol's voice entered his acoustic field.
The ambiance vaguely reminded him of that night he had spent with Kol in that quaint bar in Denver, when he thought Kol was still human, the first time he had kissed him on that playground field beneath the moonlight. He briefly closed his eyes and gulped his newly refilled shooter.
The vampire's breath ghosted over his cheek, "Maybe we should go get some fresh air?" he proposed in a drawl that reached Jeremy right in the groin. The kid moaned but followed him.
Come a little bit closer
Before we begin
Let me tell you how I want it...
And exactly what I need
He was going to die.
He found himself up against a wall in the backyard of the bar, the vampire kissing him fiercely, passionately.
I'm here for one drug
I'm only here for one thing
So come on and tell me...
Can you fly like you're free?
Cause I need to feel yeah
He felt the other trail down from his jaw to his sternum.
I need to say...
Hands opened the zipper of his jeans and a hot mouth engulfed him.
I must confess I'm addicted to this
Shove your kiss straight through my chest
I can't deny I'd die without this
Make me feel like a god
Music, love, and sex
He gasped and shot his eyes open before closing them again.
Adrenalize me
The other's tongue circled his rigid member expertly before sucking him deep, his hands gripping at his tights. Was he really letting a complete stranger – a vampire at that – blowing him in a back alley in the middle of the night?
I crave excess
Turning wine into sweat dripping down my neck
I can't deny I'd die without lust
Make me feel like a god
Adrenaline and sex...
Pleasure built up as tears trailed down his cheeks. He could still remember the feel of Kol's mouth and tongue on him. It was the first thing the Original had ever done to him – succulent in its forbiddenness, mindblowing, so much better than all the blowjobs Vicky had ever given him. Kol had felt perfect. Kol always felt perfect.
He exploded with a Darling being whispered in his ear.
Get a little bit higher
So we can fall till we bleed
Push a little bit harder
Pull me in to the speed
The vampire straightened up with a smile and kissed him again. Jeremy could taste himself in his mouth. The bitterness made him feel sick. So did the reality of it. The hot mouth trailed to his neck and the familiar stinging pain resonated through his spine making him gasp and arch into the deadly embrace. Kol drained him, in hard, long gulps. "I can give you so much pain, you'll lose yourself in it!"
So tell me, can you feel this?
As the vampire drained his blood, his spinning mind remembered that he had a stake in the right pocket of his jacket. Kill it, whispered the Hunter voice in his mind, kill it now. He reached into his pocket and put the small stake out. Still in a drunken stupor, he shoved the wood weapon into the vampire's chest, just as Damon had trained him to do. Kill him.
The vampire jolted upward and stared at him, shocked and disbelieving.
"I'm a Hunter," Jeremy justified himself.
He watched Kol's beautiful features turn gray before his very eyes.
Come into my dream
He made his way home without knowing how he did. Sat on his bed, he stared at his hands. His pants were still strained. Bitterness still lingered on his tongue. Lost in a maze of chestnut hair, bourbon, fangs, rock riffs and British drawls, he reached beneath his bed to retrieve a poison he thought he had gotten himself rid of. People never change. When they're damaged, they're damaged for good.
Kol knew he would not be welcome. He zoomed through the stairs and entered a room which smelled like marijuana. He wrinkled his nose. What had his Darling been doing?
The boy laid asleep on his bed, still fully clothed. Kol' senses could grasp a smell of sex, still strong on his body. What had his Darling been doing?
He watched the human' sleepy face for a while with a smile plastered on his lips. Kol puckered his lips and reached a finger to his cheek.
Are you ready to awaken?
Jeremy's eyes fluttered open. Kol's face was staring straight at him. He was not dead. He was here.
"Hey, Darling! Are you alright?" said the full lips.
He straightened up on his elbows, "Kol..."
The Original frowned, "What's wrong with you?" he whispered while caressing the boy's brow, "I know you told me to stay away, but I remembered what Helen had told me about human emotions and then I called her and she said that I should pay you a visit. So here am I. Are you alright? You look very yellow."
The words did not make much sense in Jeremy's intoxicated brain. Kol was there. Kol was not dead.
"Kiss me," he wanted to die.
Kol licked his lips, confused, but obliged nonetheless. His mouth met Jeremy's dry lips. The kid tasted of drugs, tears and sleep.
Are you ready to feel?
Cause I need to feel
They deepened the kiss and Kol straddled him before grabbing his arms and displaying them above him on the bed, in a submissive stance. He stared into the human's eyes. His pupils were dilated. He was drunk. He was high.
He let go of the arms and put his hand on the human's chest, "Are you alright?"
Jeremy looked up. There was blood on Kol's clothes. There was blood on Kol's hands. The hands that were gripping him.
"Fuck me," Jeremy whispered.
Kol frowned. The blood of the humans he had just killed was still fresh, mingling with Jeremy's taste. He kissed the boy's neck and jumped. Someone had bitten him. Some vampire had bitten him. Fed from him. He was about to yell and get angry at the boy but the latter looked so lost and needy that he just let it go. He was as horny. He kissed his mouth again, bruisingly deep, forcefully possessive.
Yeah I need to say
"Fuck me," Jeremy begged in a low voice, "Drain me..." Kill me
The vampire in Kol growled. He thought about the bastard who had touched him and he bit him. Harder than he had ever bitten him.
Jeremy gasped and his eyes rolled in the back of his head.
I must confess I'm addicted to this
Shove your kiss straight through my chest
I can't deny I'd die without this
Make me feel like a god
Music, love, and sex
Kol ripped his jeans open. The kid was already strained. Someone else had already been there. Probably the same vampire who had drained him. Jeremy had cheated on him. Blinded with rage and jealousy, he tore the jeans apart and flipped the cheater on his stomach. Jeremy arose on his hands and knees.
"You little slut," Kol hissed and snapped.
Jeremy closed his eyes.
Kol opened his own pants and bent down until his mouth rested against the kid's ear, "Would you mind if I hurt you, Darling? You seem to like it rough!" You betrayed me.
Humiliation electrified Jeremy's brain.
"Would you mind?" Kol repeated when he had received no answer.
"No, hurt me." Kill me
Kol smirked nastily. It was the boy's fault. He thrusted into him dry, with no preparation. The intense pain and burning had Jeremy close his eyes and extend his arms in front of him, bent and broken.
Adrenalize me
He was the Original's slut.
I crave excess
Turning wine into sweat dripping down my neck
I can't deny I'd die without this
Make me feel like a god
Adrenaline and sex...
The pain was equal for the vampire. It burned. Physically. Emotionally. Pain was the only thing they both could think about. Pain with betrayal and shame. Burning pain. He flipped him onto his back again. He needed to see him. Jeremy's eyes were half close. He regularly gasped and moaned, from pain or pleasure, Kol did not know and tonight he would not have cared. That little slut had cheated on him.
"Bite me," Jeremy whispered lost in a bleeding twister, "Kill me."
Adrenalize me
Kol smirked angrily, "I only killed four persons tonight. With you, that'd make it five."
The biting was full of sadness and anger and made Jeremy moan.
Cuz I'm addicted to this
"Harder," Jeremy breathed.
I must confess I'm addicted to this
Shove your kiss straight through my chest
I can't deny I'd die without this
Make me feel like a god
Music, Love, and sex
Jeremy's head was spinning so much he wished he would just collapse. Kol was everywhere. Kol had become everything.
Adrenalize me
Kol came in a feral growl. He looked up at the white ceiling as he rode his orgasm out and let himself fall against the human. They remained silent and unmoving for a while, breathing hard and shallow. When Kol removed himself from the limp body, there was blood all over. He closed his eyes. He could not believed he had hurt the boy twice in such a short time. Okay, Jeremy somehow deserved this, but still... He really was a horrible, horrible monster. He betrayed you.
I crave excess
Turning wine into sweat dripping down my neck
I can't deny I'd die without this
Make me feel like a god
Adrenaline and sex
Jeremy laid on his back and gasped at the pain in his backside. It hurt so much.
"Why did you do that?" Kol asked after a while. Why did you betray me?
"I'm a horrible person," Jeremy began to sob.
This took Kol aback, "Why? Because you're a vampire slut?" he asked, annoyed, "Many are..."
"Because you say you love me," the human whispered painfully. Kol looked away, rejection twisting his heart, "Because I think I love you," Jeremy confessed in a low voice, tears dripping down his eyes.
Kol could feel tears gather in his eyes as well, "Jeremy..."
"And I shouldn't love you... There's nothing to love in you... You're a sadist, a murderer... You kill people. And I let you touch me. And I love it when you touch me. I need it. And I shouldn't," he turned to look at Kol, "Please Kol, do what you wanted to with me, hurt me, kill me, but don't let me love you."
Kol stared back at him, his eyes wet and shinny.
Cuz I'm addicted to this
Back at the Mikaelson Mansion, Aaron was sat on the floor, in the middle of a very expensive Persian rug, and was analyzing the sword Elijah had given him.
"Did you find anything?" Rebekah asked as she entered the study with a glass of scotch in hand. She sat in one of the black leather armchairs and added before he had time to say anything, "I found some of the ingredients you asked by the way. I don't really got what you meant by "channeling" but I suppose that will involve death and blood?"
"Just blood actually."
"No death?"
"Not that I know of."
Silence came back.
She watched him examine the sword closely, "So, is that sword any useful?"
"The sword is a necessity. As for useful, I don't know it yet. I cannot seem to be able to decipher the symbols on it."
Rebekah left her chair and got closer to him so that she could see the symbols for herself, "What language is that?"
"I'm not sure. I'd say, ancient Aramaic..."
"Aramaic? You mean Jesus language? Do you understand it?"
He gave her a long look, "Jesus died centuries before I was born! The language is deader than dead! How am I supposed to know it?"
"Well you did say that you were super powerful..."
"Yes, I can do magic tricks, but I cannot learn a dead language out of the blue. I'm a warlock, Rebekah, not a computer!"
She rolled her eyes and designed the sword, "So you don't understand any of that?"
He shook his head, "I'm afraid I don't..."
"What are we going to do then?"
"I'll have to think. I still have to grow the Hunter's marking so we can find the way to Silas den. That's the most important part. The rest will come by itself."
"Grow the marking, find the island, decipher the sword," Rebekah summarized, "Easy enough!"
Aaron bit his lip, "Yes, in theory..." he suddenly looked up in the air and remained focused on something only he could hear and feel for a while.
"What's the matter?"
"I guess I should hurry with the spell though," Aaron noted, still staring up in the air above him.
Rebekah looked alarmed, "Why? Has Silas awaken yet?"
"No. But if it keeps going the way it does, we might need to find a new Hunter very soon..."
Rebekah frowned, "What's wrong with the one we have now?" at the same moment she pronounced the words, she knew what, "Oh, Kol..." Aaron nodded. She sighed and huffed, "Can't we never catch a break?"
Oh! Poor Jeremy... :(
