Amazons vs Hunters

"'Don't forget to clean the uniforms'" I mocked my boss when he wasn't looking "'Don't leave the helmets stinking', 'Make sure they pay every munition', blah, blah, blah!" I groaned from my spot behind the register machine, cleaning it again "I didn't sign up for this!"

"Um, excuse me?" A snob male voice took me off my rant. I breathed out and gave him my biggest fake smile.

"Yes? What can I do for you?" I gritted my teeth. As a reply, he tossed me the used helmet and protection, staining with paint the counter and wishing me I don't pass out because of the combination between paint and sweat. I forced myself not kill him and do the math of his check "That'd be $300, sir"

"What?!" I shrieked and winced a little, but didn't back away "No way, I paid $250 for the game, what are you charging me?!"

"Munitions, sir" I explained, like I was dealing with a little boy "Each recharged of 50 munitions is $10. You and your group, sir, recharged 30 times"

"That's not true!" he complained, crossing his arms. He wasn't very far from throwing a tantrum. I sighed.

"Very well, sir. Then, you do the math" I tossed him the chart where the guy who handed the munitions gave me. I saw him crutching his eyebrows in concentration and his tongue poke out while he was doing the math. When I heard a huff, I knew he reached the same result as I did. In silence, he pulled money out of his pockets and paid me "Thank you so much sir. We hope to see you soon" I smiled at him (still fake).

"Don't hold your breath" he spatted at me, walking away. I sighed and started to clean the newly used uniforms and protections.

"What a day" I mumbled to myself.

"Eva" I heard my boss calling me. I turned to him, never stopping scrubbing the paint out "Go home. The last group is here. You'll do that tomorrow" And, with that, he turned around and left me alone again. I looked around me to see the mess of helmets, protections, guns, paint and sweat and I groaned, kicking stuff.

"I'm never finishing this by tomorrow night" I complained to myself.

"Excuse me?" The voice of a girl interrupted me. I wiped my tears and turned to face a girl of around 16, maybe even 17 years. She was dressed in a black T-shirt that said 'Romance ain't dead. You are' and silvery cargo pants, along with boots. Her short spiky black hair contrasted with her pale skin and her blue electric eyes. She was also wearing a headband in her forehead.

"Yes?" I answered her.

"We have a game reserved" I nodded and started to look in the registers.

"Um, I have one game for twenty people under the name of Hylla Ramirez" I admitted, looking at her "Are you Hylla Ramirez?"

"Nope, that would be me" Another voice said. This time, it belonged to a elder girl, with braided brownish hair. Her skin was tan perfectly and her brown eyes were fiery, like she knew how to handle herself.

I compared the girls in from of me and it was obvious both were leader-kind-of-girls. The way they looked at each other made me think they weren't in the best terms all the times.

"In- In that case, please sign here" I handed her a form "It's a form that says that understood our safety rules and that you'll follow them" Hylla signed it without a word and returned it to me "OK, the uniforms are there..." I pointed at a basket full of uniforms "I apologize for the bad smell ahead"

"They smell that bad?" the first girl (which I don't know her name yet) asked, curious.

"Yes. And nothing takes that away. Also, they're a bit warmy" I warned them "What else? Oh, helmets here, protection there, gloves next to the uniforms... You need to choose teams-"

"No need" Hylla cut me, smirking and watching the other girl, who smirked back "We're winning this time, Thalia" The girl, Thalia, started to laugh hard, wiping a fake tear from her eye.

"I'm sorry, I thought I heard you say you're winning this time? You know that ain't happening, Hylla" she stated, serious "The Hunters always win"

"Not after the Amazons wipe the floor with all of you" After that exchange of words, both girls walked away and formed teams, white for Thalia's (which I noticed is made by teens) and red for Hylla's (made by young women).

I just hoped they didn't kill each other on field.

I decided to take some dirty protection at home, put it on a big can filled with bleach and that cleans itself during the night, that way the paint would be gone, the sweat stains would be gone, I don't have to scrub and I have less work tomorrow. Instead of two, four birds with the same stone!

"Eva!" my boss yelled at me, when I was climbing onto my car. I groaned and turned to him.

"I'm leaving" I announced to him.

"You're not going anywhere" I stared at him, confused.

"Excuse me?!" I said to him, getting frustrated "Not an hour ago, you were almost kicking me out!"

"Well, now you're staying! I need a judge" I frowned and glared at him, giving up.

"Fine" I muttered, climbing off my car "Just because I can use the extra cash" I admitted, walking to the field. In there the group of twenty girls were waiting for me. When they saw me, their jaw drop.

"You're the only girl in this place?!" a blonde girl screamed, between shock and insulted.

"You asked for me?" I frowned at them, not understanding.

"That jerk was flirting with us" a brunette scowled, pointing at the judge of the game.

"Yeah, the guy's an idiot" I recognized "Did he gave you the security speech?"

"Yes" a blonde elder girl nodded, as well as the rest of them.

"Do we need to follow it?" a dark haired girl asked me, almost whinning.

"Yes" I emphasized "Now, how do you wanna do this? Little quests? Capture-the-flag? Free time?" A second after I made those questions, I wished I hadn't.

"Capture-the-flag!"

"Are you insane?! Quests are the best!"

"Free time!"

"There's no way we're having capture-the-flag! They're experts on it!"

"Enough!" Both Hylla and Thalia shouted, putting a bit of order.

"Here's what we're doing-" Thalia started.

"Quests!" Hylla cut her, smiling proud. Her group cheered, while Thalia and hers glared at her.

"No, we're doing free time" she stated, trying to be reasonable. Soon, they started to scream and shout again. I sighed and took a whistle to catch their attention.

"Girls, you look like a bunch of drunk men over a football match!" I scolded them. I don't know why I said those words, but they were enough to shut them all up and look down, in a mixture of anger and shame "Since you can't decide, I will do it for you" I decided. Everyone looked up, expectantly "You'll be doing the three of them. First, two little quests. Then, capture-the-flag. And, whatever time and munitions left would be free time, got it?" Everyone nodded in agreement "Very well, the first quest..."

The first quest I assigned them was 'deactivate' a bomb (not a real one). One member of the team (the Amazons went first, and a girl named Amanda did it) was in charged of setting it in enemy ground. The other team (the Hunters) goal was to 'kill' Amanda or whoever was send to plant the bomb. Once the bomb was settled, the Hunters should 'disarm it', taking it to their base, while the Amazons fired at them. Once the quest was done, I ordered them to do it the other way around (Hunters plant the bomb, Amazons disarm it)

The second quest was to 'stole' a flag from the other team. I placed a flag in the middle of the field and the teams should start stealing it from each other, endlessly.

Normally, this kind of missions or quests take between fifteen to twenty minutes. But this girls... Each mission was one hour staright! They were actual fighters! The Hunters had excellent aim, not missing their targets ever. The Amazons were equally good, as well, but they were upfront attack, while the Hunters were more sneaky. Watching them play was like watching one of those strategy games or war documental on TV. It was amazing.

Soon, their time was up. All the girls whined when I blow my whistle, signaling the end of the game.

"Five more minutes!" A couple of girl begged me, pouting. I smirked and shook my head.

"Sorry, girls, but your time is over" I admitted, also sad because I wanted to let them keep playing.

"Don't worry" Thalia patted the girls' back "I'll book one for next month and bring some campers, what do you say?" Whatever she meant by that, the girls started to jump and cheer around her.

"Well, I'll leave you girl to take off your protections and uniforms" I announced, walking out the field and checking the grid of munitions. I almost faint at the amount of extra munitions.

0...

Zero...

Cero...

I looked up from the grid and them, the girls. They were talking and laughing. Their protections were splattered with, at least, ten shots each! And they didn't reload?!

"This was one Hell of experience" Hylla commented at me, taking me out of my faze.

"That's what everyone says" I noticed.

"So, how much do we owe you?"

"Nothing" She frowned at me, like not understanding "You don't have to pay extra" I showed her the grid and she smirked.

"I though we had to. Sorry" she apologized "Can we book one for next month?"

"No! We wanted one for next month!" Thalia butted in, a faint trace of orange paint in her hair.

"We asked first!"

"We asked in the field!"

"We're older!"

"We're older than you!"

Great God, do they really argue all the time?!
