Faberry Week 2014

Day Six: Doppelgangers

"Hey, Quinn, would you and Rachel mind looking after mini-me over here for a couple of hours? Frank's driving me to the mall on his way to work to get the little one's school supplies; it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I just got to find some Adventure Hour or something backpack, with the Pink Princess… whatever her name is."

"Princess Bubblegum!"

Quinn and Little Frannie speak at the same time and it makes the little girl giggle.

"And it's called Adventure Time, mom! I've told you like a billion times!"

Frannie rolls her eyes at the little girl's antics but laughs softly.

"Riiight, sorry baby I'll try to remember the next time. I guess she's more a mini-you than a mini-me, huh Quinn?"

Quinn smiles proudly and raises her hand to high five her niece.

"Hell yeah!"

"Language, Quinn! Remember this little one is also a smart copy cat and I don't want to have to scold her again for yelling that whenever I ask her if she wants dessert!"

"Sorry, Frannie."

"Yeah, you look sorry. Anyhow, I'll be back in a couple of hours, ok?"

Rachel, Quinn and Little Frannie nod and Frannie leans down to kiss her daughter's forehead and give Quinn a final glare as warning before heading out the door.

"So you were the leader in Glee and auntie Quinn was the leader in the Cheerleaders, I don't get it. Why would you not get along if you were both the leads in your clubs?"

Quinn, Rachel and Little Frannie are sitting in the living room floor looking up at old photo albums that Quinn found in her bedroom, Little Frannie had been asking about their highschool years and Quinn thought there might be some evidence still left somewhere.

"Well, it is not the same thing to be the Head Cheerio than to be the leader in the Glee Club. I understand that Glee is a little more popular nowadays but when we were in highschool, being in Glee club made you kind of an outcast whilst being on the Cheerios was the complete opposite."

Rachel and Quinn turn to look at each other, remembering their highschool days and how it really did got better after all.

"I dunno Rach, Glee might be a little bit more popular today but I can guarantee that there's not a single singer there that can even get close to the shadow you left there. This one here, kiddo, she has the best voice you will ever listen to. She is going to be a superstar and you are going to be related to someone famous."

Quinn kisses Rachel's hand as the girl blushes.

"How about you Auntie Quinn? Were you the best Cheerleader too?"

Rachel is about to answer for her when they hear the door closing and all three girls turn to the hall that leads to the door.

"She was a legend actually. Her legacy remains even a million years after she graduated."

Frannie walks in with more bags than she seems to be able to hold and Quinn rushes up to help her.

"Don't exaggerate Frannie. It's not like that kiddo, don't listen to her. I was just the Lead Cheerleader back then and that's it."

They leave the bags in one of the couches and sit down in the biggest couch, Little Frannie jumping to sit in her mom's lap.

"No, I mean it Quinn. Let me tell you what just happened to me:

So I was walking through the mall trying to find this one's backpack, I hadn't even been there twenty minutes when I hear some whispering not far behind me so I turn around and there's this group of 4 or 5 Cheerios outside a store I had just came out from. But I didn't think anything of it because well, they're Cheerleaders and they are never really discrete when the gossip so I assumed there was someone else around and I kept on walking.

So, an hour in and all I'm missing is the backpack, I promise I went into six stores and nothing. So- "

Little Frannie lets out a gasp and looks worriedly at her mom.

"But you did find it, right mommy?"

"Yes, baby. I found it."

Little Frannie squeals and hugs her mom tightly, making everyone laugh.

"So, as I was saying. I was leaving the sixth or seventh store when I notice the same group of Cheerios walking just few steps behind me, still whispering and pointing and generally just being incredibly not subtle at all… Hey! Maybe that's why you were such a great Cheerio, subtlety is so not your thing!"

Quinn blushes and smacks her sister in the arm, it's not a heavy punch but it's not a light one either.

"Shut up! Are you going to finish that story or what?"

Frannie laughs again and hits Quinn too.

"So, I decided to just walk around aimlessly to see if I was just being paranoid or if those girls were really following me. I got an ice-cream, went inside a music store, a men's wear store and every time I left a store they were there. It was rather annoying really, I've never been fond of loud gossiping. But I decided to at least make something out of it and at least see if they could be of any help to me.

So I'm walking to where they are and I swear that the two girls that saw me approaching had a small heart attack they gasped so loudly, one of them started pulling on another girl's uniform until all of them were staring at me. They seemed to be in need of a second or two to regain their breaths so I gave them the time, but before I could ask them if they knew where I could find the backpack, one of them blurted out:

'Oh my God! Are you Quinn Fabray!?'

I swear I wanted to laugh so hard but they all seemed so star struck that I tried my best not to, that's when another girl said:

'Coach Sylvester talks about you all the time, you are a legend. We all know all the stories and routines you ever made.' "

Rachel starts laughing loudly and Quinn just hides her face in her hands, muttering an embarrassed 'Oh my god' as she shakes her head.

"I'm not even done yet Quinn, it gets better! So, after them blurting it out that Sue has you basically in a pedestal in her office they all started going on and on about how you are their hero and that no one will ever be like you and so on. I swear by then I had tried at least three times to tell them I was not you, but apparently it's still tradition that Cheerios in large numbers never stop talking. I literally stood there for at least five minutes while the girls gushed over you and told me how much they all wanted to be like you when finally one of them realizes I am still standing there and they haven't stopped talking and goes:

'Oh I'm so sorry, you're probably in a hurry though, right? It's just that we all really admire you and stuff, maybe you could take a photo with us before you leave?'"

"Geez, tell me you didn't take the photo Frannie!"

"Well, I did think about it but I was not going to be held responsible for breaking a bunch of fifteen year olds hearts! So I said sure I'll take it. Smiled for the photo and then they all hugged me, it was really weird, and I asked them if they knew where I could get Frannie's backpack and they all pointed me in the right direction. It was, well…weird doesn't even begin to cover it."

Rachel is trying her best not to laugh because Quinn seems honestly embarrassed because of the whole story, her face hasn't lifted from her hands yet but Rachel could see the blush all the way to Quinn's neck.

"Frannie, oh my god, that must've been really weird!"

"Weird doesn't even begin to cover it, but on the bright side I think you should take that as a compliment really. I mean Sue Sylvester, the woman who hates everyone and thinks everyone is replaceable, still remembers you."

Quinn lifts her face from her hands and sits a little straighter on the couch, absentmindedly playing with Rachel's hair.

"Yeah, I guess that's true. She always did say I reminded her a little of a Young Sue Sylvester."

Rachel hums in agreement and then, seemingly out of nowhere, she starts laughing again, a sudden outburst that had her almost shedding tears.

"What? What's so funny?"

Rachel tries her best to breathe deep so she can answer.

"I'm sorry babe, it's just that I imagined Sue's face when those Cheerios show her the photo and realizes that the woman in the photo is not you, at all. Those poor cheerios are gonna have a rough day."
