Chapter 26

RPOV
Tasha laugh and continue to laugh. "Oh poor girl seems like you are a widower now, no husband have you." she laugh throwing her head back. All I could think about was Dimitri and him being dead.
The driver of the carriage was running the horses at a break neck speed especially on this road with sharp curves and dips. Tasha was still laughing at my misery of losing my husband.
"How could you kill the man you said you loved?" I ask between sobs.
"As I told you if I can't have him neither will you." she spatted between gritted teeth.
"I can't believe you are so cruel towards him." I said as I shook my head.
"Cruel no I am not cruel. Cruel is what he was towards me after you enter into his life. I have known him for years before you and have loved him for as many. Then you show up and he had no eyes for anyone else, but you that is cruel." Tasha yelled as she wave the gun around inside the carriage. The woman was a total fruit cake.
"What do you intend to do with me now?" I ask not really caring since the man that I love was dead. This is just great I can admit I love him now after he is dead and no chance for me to tell him. If I live through this somehow, I will never forgive myself for not telling him that I loved him. If I could only have another chance to tell him how I feel.
"You are going to have an accident. And die in the process, such a shame, you know you will be blame for his murder you know that right?" she chuckled with an evil smirk on her face.
"How will I be blamed. You did it, not I." I said looking at her with total disgust.
"Because it was your gun that shot him Rose. And everybody witness you hatred for the marriage, and that you had told him that many times." Tasha eyes show the fire of hatred towards me.
"My...gun...but...how?" I ask not being able to register her words in my mind.
"The man behind Dimka went into your room and got your gun and so he use that one to kill Dimka and then drop the gun and run. And then of course when they can't fine you. Well it will all fall into place your the one who didn't want to be married to him after all." Tasha laugh at her well planed scheme.
"And what about you where will you go?" I ask Tasha not expecting her to answer.
"Me my dear I will disappear for a while and will return to see you buried, and then take my rightful place." Tasha said as she yelled at the driver to stop.
"You won't get away with this." I told her through gritted teeth.
"What are you talking about. I already have." Tasha laugh as she exited the carriage.
I couldn't hear what she was saying to the driver and then the carriage was racing away again. I tried to look out to see where we were heading. What I saw brought utter shock to me. Fear ran down my spine as I saw where the carriage was heading. The driver was heading the carriage towards a cliff as fast as the horses could go.
At the last second I saw the driver jump clear of the carriage as the horses and the carriage plummeted off the cliff. I was thrown to the front side of the carriage. The doors of the carriage sprang open and at the last second I push my legs against the seat and drove out of the carriage towards the cliff face.
My hands raking and scratching at the pack dirt and rocks of the cliff trying to grasp anything to stop my falling. My hands came into contact with a tree root as I tighten my grip my hands slid down the root scraping the hide off my palms digging into the skin as they slid down the rough bark. Excruciating pain rip through my arms, but I held on until I came to a stop. Danging about a hundred feet above the bottom of the cliff I turn and look down and saw what was left of the carriage, the horses layed sprawl out in a twisted abnormal manner, clearly showing their necks broken and dead. The carriage was smash beyond repair.
I tried to look around to figure out how I was going to save myself. I was about 50 foot from the top of the cliff. The tree root didn't go far enough to climb down so I had no choice, but to climb up.
I began the painful attempt to climb back up. With ever hand hold I took brought more pain as the blood flow freely ran down my forearm. Tears pour over my cheeks, but I remain silent. I finally reach a small ridge where I could barely stand to let my hands rest for a minute. And to catch my breath.
I strained my ears, listen intently to hear anything from up top, but could hear nothing, hopefully Tasha and her driver were gone.
I rip my dress into strips and bandage my hands to stop the bleeding and to give some protection to them when I started my climb up.
After 15 minutes I decided it was time to start climbing again. With every movement the burning stinging pain rack my body from my hands to my back. Sheer adrenaline pumping through my veins was the only strength I had and a will to survive.
After an hour of slow hard climbing using every muscle in me I was within 20 feet of the top. I heard horses hooves running closer to where I was, stirring more emotions within me, remembering the words Tasha had said brought a new realm of fear to me. Where they here to help me or to punish me for Dimitri death. Were they friend or foe.
Soon I heard two familiar voices. Calico Jack and Bailey talking.
"The tracks lead to the edge of the cliff. Surely they didn't go off of it." I heard Bailey say with concern in his voice.
"I hope not for Peanut sakes." Calico Jack said fear dripping from his words.
"Oh my God Peanut oh no please...it can't be. Not her please God not her." I heard Calico Jack scream through sobs.
"What is it Calico?" Bailey asked.
"The carriage is at the bottom, if Peanut was in it she is most likely dead." Calico said as he sob.
They couldn't see me for an overhang I was near, so I shouted at them.
"Jack...Bailey I am here. Help me." I yelled at them.
"Did you hear that?" Bailey asked with disbelief in his voice.
"Aye." Jack said eagerly as he scrambled to the edge.
Jack layed down on his stomach and leaned over the edge to have a closer look. When I swung out so he could see me the root slip a little from the dirt causing me to fall a short distance.
"Peanut...Peanut...be still lass before the root gives way. We'll get you just be still." Jack shouted his voice shaking with all the emotion of fright, as he saw the root give way a little more.
"Bailey go get the rope from the horse I see Peanut hurry man, she slipping." Jack said with apprehension in his words.
Soon Bailey was back and they made a loop in the rope and sent it down to me. I carefully slip my foot into the loop and grab a hold of the rope with my hands. They began to hoist me up at a slow painstaking pace. With every jerk of the rope my hands throbbed. Once I reach the top Jack pulled me into his arms and began to sob openly along with Bailey I joined the two men in crying, but my crying for for the death of my husband.
"How did you guys find me?" I ask between sobs.
"I saw Tasha grab you and so Bailey and I follow behind at a distance so she would not see us." Jack said.
"What happen back at the Belikovs do you know anything? Is Dimitri alright?" I asked both of them looking at each one.
"All I know is that someone got shot and that they were taking them to the doctor's house a few miles away.
"Who got shot?" I ask.
"I believe it was Dimitri, but not for sure." Bailey said looking at the ground.
"I need you to go back to the house and get my scabbard and my ship clothes and dagger and meet me back here." I told them as I stood up and look around.
"Why? What for? You need to go back to the house you are hurt Peanut." Jack said as if he couldn't believe I didn't want to go and check on my husband.
"Jack I can't go back. At least not yet. Tasha and her men used my pistol to shoot Dimitri so they will think I did it and arrest me for killing him." I said frowning as I told of what Tasha had said.
"God that whore if I ever see her again I am running her through with my sword I swear." Jack said as he curse under his breath.
"Not if I beat you to it." I said smiling at him.
"Anyways I need you to go and retrieve my stuff from the house and meet me here. I have to fine Tasha and her men who did this to me." I said as I thought what she had said to me in the carriage.
"Aye, I will do it Peanut, but Bailey will stay with you until I come back, no if or buts about it." Jack said raising an eye brow.
"Fine but hurry back and bring me a horse and there is a back pack in the closet bring it too." I said as I dusted myself off and went to hide in the near by tree's with Bailey.
Calico Jack POV
After following the trail I couldn't believe that Tasha had kidnap Peanut. We were following the tracks of the carriage to find that they ran the carriage off the cliff. Thinking the worst had happen to Peanut. I was totally shock to fine Peanut hanging by a root mere inches from death. Just because of a woman's obsession over a man she couldn't have.
Then to find out the story from Peanut of how the woman plotted and planted the pistol so that Rose would be blame for the Captain being shot. Well let say that just really piss me off to no ends.
After arriving back at the house I went to Rose's room and gather all her things she requested and was on my way out when I ran into Ivan.
"Where are you going Calico with that stuff?" Ivan asked eying me suspiciously.
"I am going back to the ship it is to dangerous here for me liking sir." I said as I started to move around him.
"Do you know where Rose is?" Ivan asked with a concern expression on his face.
"No I don't why?" I asked him looking in his eyes for the answer. Hoping he could not see the lie.
"Well apparently she shot the Cap'tin." Ivan said, but not with a lot of confidence as if he couldn't believe it himself.
"I don't think Rose would of shot the Captain in the back she would of done it with him looking her in the eyes. Not in the back." I said boldly.
"Aye, I know it does seem rather odd doesn't it." Ivan said as he rub his chin with his hand.
"Odd is not a word I would of chose. More like a well laid out plan setup, if you ask me." I said showing no fear talking to the first mate.
"How is the Captain anyway?" I ask needing to know so I could tell Rose.
"He was shot, but luck was with him it hit his shoulder blade and stop. He will be sore and need to rest for a while, but he will be back to himself before long." Ivan said as he smiled.
"That is good. I need to be going I will see you later Ivan." I said as I turn to leave.
"Jack." this causing me to stop and turn to face Ivan. "I know you know where Rose is, I am not dumb. I won't question you on this. Just keep her safe until she comes back for the Cap'tin sake." Ivan said with s serious look upon his face.
"Aye I will. Please don't tell the Captain. But, Rose was setup they wanted it to look like she had shot him. But she didn't and then they tried to kill her...she is hurt, but not bad. And I will look after her and keep her safe. You look after the Captain and keep him safe for her." I said reaching out my hand to shake his.
"They what!" Ivan yelled shock etching across his face.
"Yea they ran the carriage she was in off a cliff. But Peanut manage to get out and grab hold of a root and climb back up almost to the top, then we threw a rope down to her and pulled her the rest of the way up." I said as I shutter at remembering the root slipping out of the ground it could have been a different story for sure.
"Does she know who did it?" Ivan ask searching for the answer.
"Yes and she is now on the hunt for them." I said frowning at the thought of what that bitch had done to Peanut and the Captain.
"Please keep me informed of where you are and what is going on with her and I will do the same. I will keep it from the Captain until Rose is ready to tell him. Unless I see it is causing damage to the Cap'tin then I will be force to tell him." Ivan said smiling at me.
"Aye I will, take care Ivan I will see you soon I hope." I said as I left the house and started back towards where Peanut and Bailey were.
