No death threats last night- I'm honestly surprised. I was expecting at least two! :D
They briefly had hopes that Tobias had just been transported somewhere, hopes that were smashed to dust by the nova arrival of Athena.
The goddess was absolutely livid, her stormy grey eyes fixed on the Poseidon twins with a hatred far more potent than what she had for their father.
"Mom, no!" Annabeth cried, hands raised as she took a step forward, only to be blasted back. "No!"
"I have given them enough chances!" Athena raged, towering over them in full godly-size. "They cannot redeem themselves now!" Her eyes blazed with power. The twins dropped everything, crumpling to the ground and yelling. Pain didn't even start to describe what they were experiencing, the cries inhuman with the levels of agony.
"Stop it!" Alvie threw out his hand, a shock wave rippling through the air and snapping Athena back. Tension flooded from the twins and they lay still, ragged breaths trembling them. The only clue they were still alive.
"You dare!"
"Leave them alone!" With a flick of his fingers, Alvie had his father and aunt encased in a vibrant crystal-white dome, his eyes burning the same colour.
Athena raised her hand, godly power crackling from her head to her feet. She wold have vaporised Alvie had Poseidon not appeared.
"That is enough." He spoke calmly, but his eyes churned with the full ferocity of the sea. "They have enough to deal with, they don't need you as well."
"They swore on the Styx!" Athena spat. Poseidon sighed.
"I know. However, I believe failing is punishment enough."
Athena sent a final godly glare at them, starting to glow. Once she was gone, Poseidon instructed Alvie to remove the dome.
"Percy!"
"Lou!" Annabeth and Leo surged forward, tending to their partners.
Sophia had no-one to tend to.
"Mammy?" Samantha pulled on Sophia's hand. "Mammy, where did Daddy go? And why big lady angry?" Darcy burst into tears, burying her face in her mother's leg. "Mammy…" Samantha started crying too and it took everything Sophia had left not to follow suit.
Tobias was gone. Sophia couldn't- wouldn't believe it. He couldn't just be gone. He had always been there, had always promised to be there. Tobias always kept his promises.
She kept expecting him to walk through the door, beaming, with flowers in one hand and a back of ice-cream in the other. She sat and stared at that door for four hour before it clicked.
Tears split forth, a trickle at first, and then a flood. She sobbed and she sobbed, calling his name, calling him an idiot, saying she loved him, that he was so stupid, that she needed him. The one thing that drove her mad, that kept her anchored… was gone.
And she hadn't told him.
She hadn't told him how much he really meant to her. She hadn't told him he completed her.
She hadn't told him she was pregnant.
:D
