Chapter 25
She didn't even deny it. I sat on the dirt ground and laid my head on my knees. Aunt Lexi sat next to me and put an arm around my shoulder. My first reaction was to move away.
"Why?" I whispered. I refused to cry, I was tired of it.
"I didn't want you to know."
"But why? What's your reason?!" my voice rose up in level.
"Your father is Marcus. Your mother was Didyme. Aro didn't want them to leave, but it was their wish. During a battle that they were fighting, Aro had her killed. He dished her out to one of the enemies and let them kill her; he couldn't do it himself. It was either her or Marcus and his gifted proved more useful than hers. I snuck in to the castle and learned everything. Marcus is bond loyal to them and I can't save him without drawing attention to myself and you. If I were to be caught by Aro he would know everything by one touch."
"But you have powers right? Why not use it?"
"I have limited gifts of four. I can-" I cut in.
"You should explain this to my family as well," I told her. My mind was working slowly from all the stress.
"Of course." We ran back to the house. As soon as we entered Felix stood beside her.
"I told you," he said smugly. Aunt Lexi stiffened and sniffed the air. I was confused on what he meant. I told you? What does that even mean? But as we walked closer to the living room, I finally registered a different scent (something I've smelt before). Entering I saw my family and... Demitri talking.
At our approach he turned to face us. An apologetic and sad look on his face. I turned to my aunt; she seemed to be fighting against something. Maybe it's the urge to run into his arms? Ugh! Everything sounds so dramatic like in those old timing movies - dramatic actors that thought they could act, but as the decades went on the acting became more real.
"You both need to leave now, or I'll force you." Her demand was serious and deadly. I shivered at the thought of what she would do; though I knew she would go easy on Demitri.
"Alexandria, I'm sorry," Demitri said sincerely. "But I can't leave. Jane sent to find Felix."
"Oh? Your so loyal. Aren't you?" I shook my head in disapproval. This is wrong.
"Stop," I ordered her. "Felix wants to stay. If you want to leave go ahead, but I know you don't. Besides Aro will know everything if you go back." He gave a surprised look.
"Hello to you too, Ariella," he said politely, with a hint of sarcasm. I nodded. "You are right, I can't return - not that I wanted to." A look of love was thrown at aunt Lexi. Being stubborn she looked away with a frown.
I quickly remembered why we returned in the first place. We had a lot to discus with the family and I would prefer to get it over with now, for I was dying to get the answers to my many questions. Either way I was going to get them today and I didn't care about the unwanted guest that showed up. Whether they really wanted to help or not. It would be fairly easy to light them up.
"Look. We have thing to discus. If you want to stay, fine, but if not... good luck surviving because, as of now your a traitor to the Volturi. Now please explain yourself Lexi." I sneered a little. I didn't even want to call her my aunt out loud. I saw her flinch at my hostile words.
"Yes of course. I owe you all an apology - you see I lied to you about a lot of things. I thought that I was protecting Ariella by doing so," her voice held pain and embarrassment.
"What do you mean?" Jasper asked, his posture was stiff and rigid.
"Ariella's father is alive."
"How?" Carlisle questioned.
"He's... Marcus," Everyone's eyes were wide with shock and disbelief. I shook my head and sat down between momma and daddy.
"Marcus, as in the Volturi Marcus?" Emmett asked. I rolled my eyes at his clueless behavior.
"No Marcus Agius," I said - voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Who's that?"
"I really don't know. I googled the name Marcus and he showed up. I think he's the Barclay chairman."
"Everyone lets focus, we're leading off topic," daddy interrupted. Lexi nodded in thought.
"Centuries ago I gave my brother Marcus and his mate, Didyme, the gift of a child. It was a secret no one, but us three knew of. Thanks to another gift I possess, I made it so that all thoughts outside of the Volturi and vampire life could not be seen. Aro and his few followers - at the time - went looking for more members to join. Marcus was able to convince him to let him stay this time. "
"You can make vampires pregnant?" Rosalie asked in amazement.
"Yes. Umm... her pregnancy lasted for two weeks. It was good thing that Aro was gone; though she wasn't showing. We thought it would be best that way. No one could tell she was with child, the baby's heart beat was imposible for others to hear. After Ariella's birth, they intrusted her to me. I was to take care of her until they could leave the Volturi. Sadly Didyme died."
"How did she die?" momma asked before I could.
"There was a battle against newborns, and Aro threw her to one. It ripped her apart and he burned the pieces. After, he killed the newborn as well. Her death is the reason Marcus is the way he is. Honestly he would have killed himself had Chelsea not been using her gift to keep him loyal to the Volturi - at Aro's request."
"Why would he do that, she was his sister yes?" daddy questioned.
"Yes, but his love for power out weighs that. It was her or Marcus and Murcus' gift was much more useful,"
"What was her gift?" Jasper asked next.
"An aura of happiness. I sometimes caused others to fall in love with her."
"Why didn't you save her?" I looked her in the eyes, well more like glared. Part of me was angry with her, while the other part was conflicted with a mixture of emotions.
"If I had we would have all been killed for lying to Aro. Your mother would have killed me first, for getting you involved. I promised them when they gave you to me for protection, that I would put your safety before theirs or my own. And so far I have; though she wouldn't be happy that you met anyone of the guards." Lexi gave out a chuckle of amusement.
All went silent and all eyes were on me. My mother is dead... killed by her brother, her own flesh and blood(doesn't even fit vampires), My father is a Volturi leader, and Aro is my malicious, cruel, and soulless uncle. Calling him my uncle sickens me.
"Wait how could I have been born so long ago and yet be so young?" It made no sense.
"You were asleep all that time. When I thought you were ready, I woke you from your long centuries sleep and put you in the orphanage," Lexis said. I'm not sure I want to call her my aunt right now.
"Someone had a long ass nap," Emmett commented, trying to loosen the tension.
"Emmett McCarty Cullen, watch your language," momma scolded him. I giggled and sighed. Its good to know the truth.
"I really do apologize for lying" Lexi said. I want to forgive her, but I can't, I'm officially at a crossroad.
"I forgive you," daddy said with momma agreeing. Soon it seemed as if everyone forgave her but me.
"So..." Lexi looked at me.
"So?" I asked.
"Do you forgive me?" I thought about it. I was tired of being upset.
"Yes, Aunt Lexi." I walked over and hugged her. Forgiveness is an important element in happiness.
