Two whole months had passed. Ron was working on his large stack of paperwork.
"Hey Ron, Robards wants you in his office." Neville said, suddenly standing there in front of his desk.
Ron put down his quill and got up from his desk. He quickly marched to his boss' office. Hopefully he had some good news on Harry's case. He knocked on the door and heard Robards saying to come in. Ron opened the door and walked inside the office.
"You wanted to see me sir?"
"Yes Mr. Weasley, sit down." He said gesturing to the seat across from his desk.
Ron sat down and looked to his boss.
"We have no leads on Potter's case. Our trail has gone cold. There have been no attacks, no threats, nothing. The Death Eaters seemed to have disappeared or given up." Robards informed.
"What are we going to do?"
"Well, since we have no leads and there doesn't seem to be any threats to the Dursleys we're going to keep them there for one more week. If nothing happens in that week we'll return the Dursleys back to their home and we'll be keeping surveillance on them and Potter will be returning to his home."
"If nothing happens in a week Harry gets to come back?" Ron asked very excited.
"Yes. That is the plan."
"Brilliant! Harry's gonna be thrilled to be back home."
Robards and Ron went over some other things and then Ron was allowed to leave the office and return to his desk to finish his work. Hours passed quickly for Ron. He wanted to go home to his wife and tell her the good news and then go to Harry to tell him the good news. His time was up and he quickly went to his home. He aparated inside of his home.
"Mione, I'm home." He announced.
"Hey sweetie. How are you?" Hermione called out from the couch in the living room.
"Where are you?" Ron asked.
"Living room."
Ron marched to the living room and sat beside his wife.
"I got great news at work today."
"Really?" She asked intrigued.
"Harry will be able to come back home in a week from now." He said.
"Really? That's brilliant!" Hermione said.
"Yeah, I can't wait to tell him. So how's our little princess been doing?" He asked placing his hand on top of her large stomach.
"She's been a little fussy today- oomph." She said as she felt a particularly big kick.
"I can see that. Be gentle with your mum there Rosy." He said while rubbing her belly.
After some small talk, Ron went upstairs to take a shower. He stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist.
"RON! RON! GET OUT HERE NOW!" He heard Hermione yell out frantically.
Ron ran out of the bathroom only wearing the towel on his waist and ran to the stairs. He looked down to the bottom of the stairs and saw Hermione taking deep breaths and clutching her stomach.
"Ron, the baby's coming!"
Ron's eyes went wide.
"Are, are you sure?"
"Yes, my water just broke." She informed him.
"But, but… she's not due till the next month. She can't come out now." He whined.
"Well then Ronald, let me sit down and you tell our daughter she can't come out now because it's too early… OUR DAUGHTER WANTS OUT RIGHT NOW!" She said turning from calm to furious on a dime.
Ron started spouting in coherences, as he looked around panicked.
"WE GOTTA GO TO ST. MUNGO'S NOW!" He yelled as he made his way down the stairs and grabbed Hermione's wrist.
"Ronald, wait!"
"What?"
"Maybe you could put on some clothes?"
Ron looked down on himself and remembered he was only wearing a towel. He quickly dashed upstairs and got himself dressed. In a flash he appeared downstairs once again where he grabbed Hermione and dragged her out of the house. Since Ron couldn't drive the muggle car, Hermione had to drive to the hospital herself. Once at the hospital everything happened in a flash. Hermione was rushed into a room and her healer was on her way. Ron helped her through the contractions as they waited for the healer to show up.
"So how are you feeling today Weasleys?" The healer asked as she erupted into the room.
"Well my wife is in pain and I'm losing feeling in my hand. So what does that tell you?" Ron remarked.
"RONALD!" Hermione said chastising Ron over his treatment of the healer.
"It's ok Mrs. Weasley. So, your little girl is coming a month early I see. You must be very excited."
"Very." Hermione replied through heavy breaths.
"But it could be hours before the actual delivery so I'll be checking in on your process from time to time."
"Thank you Healer Emerson." Hermione sighed.
The healer was about to go through the door when she suddenly paused. She took a small vial with a blue potion out of her coat.
"Mr. Weasley." She called.
"Yeah?" Ron asked turning to the healer.
She handed the potion over to Ron. Ron took it with his free hand.
"What is this for?" He asked her.
"To avoid breaking the bones in your hand Mr. Weasley. This next few hours are going to be rough."
And with that the healer left as Hermione went through another painful contraction. She crushed Ron's hand as she rode through the pain while Ron whined about his hand. Once the contraction was over Ron frantically took the potion the healer had given him. He had no doubt Hermione had the strength to break the bones in his hand and he wanted to be able to hold his new born baby girl without a broken hand. Hours and hours passed and the pain intensified. It pained Ron to her cry and scream in pain. The healer came in once again for her hourly check. And confirmed to Hermione and Ron, the time had finally arrived. It was time to deliver. Hermione was taken to the delivery room. She took deep breaths and pushed. Ron constantly encouraged her with loving words as she pushed with all of her might. But a long time passed and the baby was still not born.
"We're not going anywhere you guys. We're going to have to preform a C-Section." She informed them.
Both Hermione and Ron gasped. She looked over to Ron with fear projected in her eyes.
"We have to do it or your baby might not make it." The healer informed once again.
After hearing what the healer had said, Hermione's fear evaporated. Ron gave her a supportive smile and a kiss on her forehead.
"Do what ever you have to do." She said.
The healer quickly got to work. They sedated Hermione. Ron kept his eyes on Hermione's face during the entire procedure, not looking away from her even for a second. That is until a little cry was heard around the room. Ron looked up and saw the healer hand over the crying baby girl all covered in blood over to a nurse to clean her up. In a flash, the nurse walked over to Ron and handed over the baby girl to him.
"She's perfectly healthy Mr. Weasley."
Breathless, Ron stared at little newborn Rose. Counting all of her little fingers and toes. Feeling her stretch and move in his arms. Feeling her take each and every breath. Hearing her cries lessen as he held her closer. Taking in every detail of her face. She was absolutely perfect.
"She's bloody brilliant Mione. She's as beautiful as you love. Look." Ron said sounding like an excited child as he brought Rose closer to Hermione.
Hermione gave him a very weak smile. Ron smiled faltered for a second.
"Mione?" He called concerned and very scared.
"She's losing a lot a blood!" The healer cried out.
"What the bloody hell's going on? Mione? Hermione! Hermione!" Ron cried out desperately and little Rose began to cry louder again.
"Mr. Weasley, we're gonna need you to wait outside." A nurse instructed.
The nurse took Rose away from his arms as another nurse escorted, or rather pushed, Ron out of the room. Once outside in the waiting room, he found his entire family waiting. George looked up and noticed his little brother standing by the door. Before he could even notice the expression on his face he said.
"Hey, there's Ron."
All the Weasleys got up from their seats and swarmed Ron. Molly immediately noticed the expression on Ron's face.
"What's the matter sweetie? Is the baby ok?" She asked getting concerned.
"She's fine. Beautiful. Perfectly healthy. But Hermione…" Ron slowly huffed out getting chocked up.
"What happened Ron?" Ginny asked stepping closer to her older brother.
"She's losing a lot a blood. They're trying to save her…" He said trying to hold back the tears.
Molly quickly wrapped her arms around her frightened son and pulled him in for a hug.
"Mum I'm scared. I don't want to lose her." He confessed, pulling his mother closer.
"I know Ron, I know. You're not going to lose her. Hermione is strong. She's going to make it." Molly assured her son.
Molly let him go and Arthur then gave him a hug followed by Ginny. His brothers all pat him in the back and gave him encouraging words. They all stayed the long wait to hear about Hermione. After what seemed an eternity for Ron, the healer came out. Ron looked up and then stood and waited to see what she was going to say.
"She's doing alright. Mother and daughter are perfectly safe."
Ron sighed a breath of relief as the entire Weasley family celebrated behind him.
"You can come in and see them Mr. Weasley." She said.
Ron followed the healer inside.
"They're both fast asleep Mr. Weasley." She informed him as she directed him to the room.
The healer left. Ron faced the door to his wife's room. He took a deep breath and carefully opened the door. He saw Hermione sleeping peacefully in her bed and by her bedside was Rose. With a smile on his face he walked right over to them. He looked at Rose and then back to Hermione. He gave Hermione a small peck on the lips.
"I love you so much. Thanks for staying with us."
