Crow

I groaned as we finally made it to my dorm room. I was severely out of breath. I leaned on my knees and tried to breath. Jean smiled at me. "Tired are we?" She asked, brushing some of her red hair out of her face. I nodded. I was still out of breath from lugging my stuff up what seemed like 20 million stairs. True, I was only carrying a duffel bag, a suitcase and a backpack. Jean was levitating everything else. I dumped the duffel bag off my shoulder and let go of the suitcase.

"I'm dying." She shrugged.

"You'll get used to it." I smiled, still wheezing.

"I hope so." Jean laughed and knocked on the door and we waited. The door opened and a girl with waist long black hair and pale skin stood in the doorway.

"Hey Jean!" The girl called. Jean smiled back. The girl glanced over and noticed me. She smiled hugely, revealing off her bright white teeth. "Oh my god! You must be Crow! Welcome!" She surprised me by pulling me into a hug.

"Um, thanks?" I laughed nervously. The girl pulled back and blushed slightly.

"Sorry! I'm a hugger."

"I guess!" I said, shifting my backpack.

"Crow, meet Claire. Claire this is Crow Forest." Jean smiled. Claire widely at me again.

"I know who she is!" Then she noticed my stuff. "OMG! Here let me help!" She moved out into the hallway and I got my first good look at her mutation. Two cloud white wings were settled against her back. She noticed me staring and laughed. "Yeah! Pretty cool, right?" She spread the wings and flapped them once. They were a foot longer then her span and were about as long a me laying down. I laughed.

"That's awesome!" I hesitated. "Can I touch them?" I asked. She smiled and moved on of the wings closer to me. I reached out tentatively and my finger brushed the white plumage. They were soft but you could feel the strong bones moving under them. I pulled my hand away and shook my head, smiling. "That's awesome. I repeated. She grabbed the duffel bag off the floor and grabbed the suitcase handle and carried them into the room before I could stop her. Jean and I followed her into the room. Inside was a tidal wave of white. The walls were white. The floor was white. The ceiling was white. Claire's desk was white and her bed and sheets and pillows were white. The dresser was white with black knobs. The curtains around to the two windows in the room were black. Jean looked around the room.

"Do you like to color white?" She asked laughing. Claire blushed.

"Yeah. My last name is White so I've kinda embraced it. Plus I've always been pale skinned and then my wings appeared, also white so after that I super embraced it." We all stood there awkwardly for a minute or two. "Well do you want to unpack?" Claire asked gesturing around the room.

"I would." I responded blushing.

"Just put your stuff wherever. I made room for you before you got here." I had Jean put my dresser next to Claire's and my bed a few feet away from hers. I had my desk across from hers. Jean then put all of my other boxes on my bed and dresser. I unpacked the bags I had been holding, putting all my hanging clothes in the closet and dumping all my other clothes in the dresser. Claire and Jean helped me start to unpack all the other boxes. We were almost down when Jean stood up. She closed her eyes for a moment then opened them again.

"Come along, girls. The professor wants to met you, Crow."
