"Callie." Callie looks over at her soccer coach as she jogs around on her knee a little. Callie has only been back to practice twice. The first time she just stood with her coaches and the second she worked with the team trainer a little, and now she's lightly jogging around the soccer field. It was a nice release from everything that's going on at home. After the twins left, Stef started working non-stop. Lena spent most of her time preparing Callie and Brandon for Mikes trial, and Brandon spent most of his time ignoring Callie. Jude was the only person who was talking to her and lately he has been spending time with his new friend Connor. So, Callie has a routine: wake up, school, soccer, dinner, homework, sleep and repeat. Dinner has been nothing short of awkward and it usually a quite affair. Stef with ask about their days one by one, each giving a short answer before the table is back to silence, so, for Callie this was exactly what she needed. Callie jogs over to her coach and he hands her a ball.

"Let's see some dribbling" Callie's face lights up immediately and she takes the ball from her coach and drops it on the ground. She starts jogging around dribbling the ball cautiously. She pauses for a second and is surprised to see Stef standing across the field by the parking lot. Callie takes in her mom for a moment, her heart soaring, before she looks back down. She's not in the bleachers for a reason. Callie shakes her head and goes back to her drills, pushing herself little by little.

"Alright ladies, bring it in." Her coach blows his whistle and Callie jogs over. "Great job today. Next week we are going to go over some plays I want to incorporate the further we get in the season, ok?" All the girls nod their heads. "Alright hands in." The team breaks off with a cheer and Callie grabs her things and look up to where Stef was standing previously. She is confused to see Stef no longer standing there.

"Callie!" She turns at her name being called and sees Jude smiling and waving at her. She smiles at her brother and walks over to him before throwing an arm around his shoulders and walking over to Lena. They all walk back to the car, the only thing to be heard was Jude talking about his day, filling Callie in on everything that happened that day. Callie listens carefully, taking in every detail carefully. When they get home Callie walks to her room, passing Brandon in the process, they make quick eye contact but saying nothing. Brandon heads downstairs and Callie into her room. She sets her bag down and sits on her bed. She takes a deep breath and just sits there for a minute. She closes her eyes and lets one tear escape before she stands up and wipes her tear away. She walks downstairs and takes a seat at the kitchen table. Lena starts dishing out dinner from the crockpot silently and Jude carefully puts them on the table. Declan trots in the kitchen and Callie lets him out quickly before sitting back at the table. Jude sets a plate in front of her and Callie smirks at him. He returns the smile and sits at his spot on the table. Lena takes a seat and Stef walks in the house. Lena and Stef exchange a glance before Stef makes herself a plate and sits at the table.

"how was everyone's day?" Stef asks and all kids mumble a good or an ok and Stef nods her head satisfied at the answers.

"Good." Stef says and the table falls quite once again. The only thing heard in the Foster house is forks against plates.

Later that night Callie lays in bed staring at the ceiling. She doesn't understand how this has turned into her life. She wasn't sure when her family stopped being a family, but here she was, 11:35 at night, staring up at the ceiling, sleep far from her mind. She stops thinking for a minute when she hears murmurs. She gets up and opens her door carefully. She sees a light illuminating the stair case, and she knows it's coming from downstairs. She carefully walks over to the stairs and sits down silently.

"Lena that's not fair." She hears Stef whisper harshly.

"Fair Stef, you want to talk about fair?" Stef pushes herself up off a stool and runs a hand through her hair roughly. "You lied to me, you lied to your children, and now we barely have a family." Lena says. Callie listens, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She feels a presence and looks over at Brandon who sits next to her quietly.

"None of this is fair Lena, I can't take the sole blame for our family falling apart. You still refuse to even have a conversation with our daughter, that doesn't concern Mike's trial."

"Really Stef, you don't have a conversation with any of our children." Lena says and the kitchen falls quiet.

"We need a break." Stef's voice breaks out. There is no response from Lena before Stef walks into the living room. She crosses the foyer and looks up at both Callie and Brandon. Words escape the mom, and she sighs. Callie stands up and Brandon follows. Stef continues to walk to the living room. As Callie and Brandon walk back upstairs, they split up to go to their respectful rooms without saying a word to each other.

Callie walks through the halls of her school and down to the music room, she was about to walk in but can see Brandon through the glass. She watch him stare at the piano and she can tell he hasn't even made an attempt to play. She walks in carefully and Brandon loos back before looking back at the piano. Callie walks over and looks over at what Brandon has already written. She picks up her guitar and without looking at her Brandon starts to play the notes that are on the page. This is the first time Brandon has even acknowledged she was there.

"I can't sleep tonight, wide awake and so confused." Callie starts to sing. Startled Brandon looks over at his sister, his fingers still moving across the keys.

"everything's in line, but I am bruised. I need a voice to echo, I need a light to take me home, I kinda need a hero, is it you." Callies voice begins to fill more and more with emotion.

"I never see the forest for the trees, I could really use your melody. Baby, I'm a little blind. I think it's time for you to find me." Brandon looks back to see his music teacher enter the room. He stands against the wall and allows them to finish.

"Can you be my nightingale, sing to me, I know you're there. You could be my sanity, bring me peace, sing me to sleep. Say you'll be my nightingale."

"Somebody speak to me. 'cause I'm feeling like hell. Need you to answer me. I'm overwhelmed. I need a voice to echo. I need a light to take me home. I need a star to follow. I don't know." Callie immediately breaks down and Brandon stops playing. He looks over at his sister as she sets the guitar down and leaves the music room quickly. His music teacher tries to stop her but fails as she starts running. Brandon stays frozen in his spot, his sister's song hitting him like a bag of bricks. He didn't even know she could sing like that. He stands up from the piano and his music teacher looks at him.

"Do you want to check on her?" He asks. Brandon looks at him and shakes his head sadly.

"No." He answers simply, before making his way out of the music room.
