A/N: Hey guys! It's been a while, huh? Sorry if I made you guys wait too long, I only have one day off each week for work, except this week...I'm sick :/... But, at least I got to update this book, right? So, that's one good thing that's happened today. But as always, let's get to the reviews before we get to the chapter!
Juli the Shinigami: Yes, you did :P, and yes, that was Bardock (because he's awesome). I know they did, but, I don't know if Segira was doing that willingly, as you'll read in this next chapter. Don't worry, she won't die in this chapter.
Betterdays623: Yep!
anonymous: I know how you feel about that, but I can't answer that just yet (spoilers, sorry), but I promise it'll all be revealed in a later chapter.
Razagara (from chapter 2 review): Under normal circumstances, yes. But, they're dealing with scientists that experiment with Saiyan DNA, I never said that they experimented only on Segira with all the DNA they have.
Guests 1, 4, 5, and 6: Here ya go! I'm glad you like it :)
Guest 2: :)
Guest 3: Haha, yup!
Britanika: I'm glad you love it! :D Here's the next chapter for ya!
DarkShadowEclipse (from chapter 4): Lol.
Wow, that's a lot of reviews, I'm not used to getting so many XD. Thank you all so much for leaving a review, they all mean a lot, and I love hearing your concerns, thoughts, questions, ideas, etc. and replying to you all. And for the anonymous person, I'll try to get the chapter with the answer to your question as soon as possible, I don't really don't want to leave you hanging like that :(. And, that's about it for this A/N, now, onto the chapter! Enjoy!
Gohan tensed up and bent over so his body was protectively over Segira's, his eyes shut tightly as the nets got closer to them. But instead of feeling the metal nets falling on them, he heard several explosions around them. He didn't do anything for a while before slowly opening his eyes and looking up to see what was going on, the metal nets that were surrounding them were all gone and replaced by a thick cloud of dark smoke.
"What the…?" He thought to himself as he looked at the cloud of smoke around him and Segira in shock, now straightened up.
"Are you alright, Gohan?" He heard a familiar voice above him, drawing his attention. A man, most likely an alien, was floating above Gohan. He had green skin pointy ears, was wearing a cape and mantle, a white and dark purple turban, a loose, dark purple, V-neck tank top-like shirt with loose, dark purple pants, dark orange, brownish shoes, and a dark blue belt.
Gohan stared at the green man for a few seconds as he floated down towards them before smiling widely. "P-Piccolo! Man, am I glad to see you! I'm fine, but…" His voice trailed off and he had a worried look on his face as he looked down at Segira. "She's not doing very well… She got stabbed by a pretty long knife, and I think it went all the way through…"
Piccolo looked at Segira's face closely for a few seconds. "I see…" He looked back at Gohan. "Come on, all the smoke from the explosions should give us enough cover to get to the Lookout without them seeing us."
Gohan nodded in understanding. "Alright." Not wanting to waste any more time, they immediately took off in the direction of Kami's Lookout. "That was easy…I wish I could've done that myself…" Gohan thought to himself. The only reasons why he didn't were: he and Segira weren't close enough to conceal them both at first, there also weren't enough missiles that were close enough to them, and when he and Segira were close enough, he was holding her in his arms so he couldn't have done anything without dropping her. He sighed a bit to himself. "Whatever…we're out of there and that's what matters…" And the farther they got from where they were attacked without any indication of being shot at again, Gohan felt more and more relieved, but he was still really worried about Segira.
"So that's the girl everyone's talking about, huh?" Piccolo asked Gohan after a while, ripping Gohan out of his thoughts.
Gohan looked at Piccolo with a blank look on his face for a moment before realizing what Piccolo asked him. He looked down at Segira again, she looked like she was struggling to breathe. "Yeah…" He looked back Piccolo with a lifted eyebrow. "How did you know we were out here anyways?"
Piccolo looked at Gohan from the corner of his eye. "I sensed your energies, and I heard that both of you were in trouble. I would've come sooner, but you two were pretty far out here, so it took me a little longer to get to you." Piccolo explained before looking forward again.
Gohan blinked and stared at Piccolo for a bit longer before looking back down at Segira, her face was getting even paler and her breaths were shallow and quick, she was losing way too much blood. "Hang in there, Segira, we're almost there." He thought to himself.
"Hey, Gohan." Piccolo said again after a bit.
Gohan looked at Piccolo. "Yeah?"
"Is that knife still inside her body?"
Gohan didn't say anything for a while as he thought about that, he never pulled it out, and he didn't see her pull it out. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is." He replied after a minute or two.
Piccolo nodded. "Good, leave it there until we get her to Dende. Judging by where the splotch of blood is on her shirt, I'd say the knife is really close to, or even punctured, one of her lungs and possibly a small part of her heart. Right now, that knife is probably the main thing that's keeping her alive. If we pull it out before we get her to Dende, then her lung, and possibly her heart, if they've been hit by the knife, will be even more damaged than they already are."
Gohan gulped quietly and nodded slowly. "I know…" He was trying to ignore that fact the whole time, but he couldn't help but think about it. Since he was one of the top students in school, except for the fact that he had to ditch to be the Great Saiyaman sometimes, he knew quite a lot of that stuff.
"I wouldn't worry about it too much though." Piccolo said, pulling Gohan out of his thoughts.
Gohan looked at Piccolo with a lifted eyebrow. "Huh?" He asked.
Piccolo turned his head to look back at Gohan. "Once we get her to Dende, she'll be fully healed. We'll just need to heal her immediately after we remove the knife from her, which shouldn't be a problem for Dende. We're almost there too, so it'll be fine."
Gohan stared at him for a moment before nodding slowly. "Yeah, I know. But, can we speed it up just in case? She's getting weaker by the second."
Piccolo nodded and looked forward again. "Alright, then let's go." He then sped up, Gohan doing the same.
"Dende, I'm back!" Piccolo called once he and Gohan arrived at the Lookout.
"Hey Dende, we need your help!" Gohan said as he walked forward and looked around.
Not two seconds after they called him, a green man poked his head out from around the corner and looked at them. He had the same green skin as Piccolo, but he looked like a teenager and he wore different clothes than Piccolo. He wore a long white tunic-like garment that reached down to his feet, a purple belt, a long scarlet vest that was the same length as the tunic, and light orange shoes. He also had two antennae on top of his head, and pointy ears, Piccolo had antennae on his head too, but they were hidden by the turban he wore.
Once he saw Piccolo, Gohan, and Segira, he immediately rushed over to them. "Piccolo, Gohan, what happened?" He asked as he approached them, looking at Segira's limp body with wide eyes.
"It's a long story." Piccolo replied before Gohan had the chance to say anything.
"Dende, I need your help, Segira's badly injured." Gohan said as calmly as he could.
Dende nodded. "Alright, set her down and I'll take care of her."
Gohan nodded, but before he could set her down, Piccolo stopped him. "Hold on, Gohan, that knife needs to come out before she's healed." Piccolo pointed out.
Gohan looked back at him. "But, you said that-"
"I know what I said! Just listen, I told you once, so I'll tell you again: as long as she's healed immediately after you remove the knife she'll be fine. So she won't die immediately, she'll be in a lot of pain, but she won't die." Piccolo said, cutting Gohan off in the middle of his sentence
Gohan didn't say or do anything for a while as he looked up at Piccolo with wide eyes before looking down at Segira's face, she looked like she was dead, the only way he could tell she was still alive was by her quick, shallow breaths and occasional twitching in pain. Gohan sighed slowly after a bit. "Alright, fine…" He placed Segira on the floor and carefully pushed her onto her side so he could get to the part of the bloody knife that was sticking out of her back. Once he grabbed it, he hesitated for a moment before quickly pulling it out of her back. Her body jerked and she screamed loudly in pain as a ton of bright red blood gushed out of the wound, but her eyes remained closed.
"Okay, I'll get to work on her now." Dende said after Segira's scream faded. Gohan nodded and quickly, but carefully, rolled Segira onto her back before letting Dende take over, stepping back a little. Dende kneeled down next to Segira and placed his open hands over her body, palms down, before letting his healing energy flow out of his hands and into Segira's body.
As Dende worked on healing Segira, Gohan looked at Piccolo. "Have you heard about her yet?" He asked Piccolo.
Piccolo looked at Gohan from the corner of his eye and nodded. "Yeah. I heard about her when Goku explained it over at Kame House, but, there are some things that don't make sense."
Gohan lifted an eyebrow curiously. "What do you mean?"
Piccolo looked down at the long bloody knife in Gohan's hand that had impaled Segira with a furrowed brow, the blade was still dripping with blood. "If she's so important to those scientists, then why would they try to kill her?"
Gohan paused for a moment as he thought about that, looking down at the knife as well, before speaking up. "Good question… But, how is it they could match my speed? I should've been able to get out of there easily with Segira."
"I don't know, but we're dealing with people who have been experimenting with Saiyan DNA, it wouldn't surprise me if whoever is in charge of them put some DNA in the scientists as well so they're stronger and faster than normal humans. But, that's only a guess."
"It's a possibility…" "If that's the case, then it would also explain how they managed to paralyze Dad and everyone else when they found Segira…" Gohan said, thinking the last part.
"Hey guys, I think she's starting to wake up." Dende said after a bit, accidentally interrupting their conversation.
"Really?" Gohan asked eagerly, kneeling down next to Segira to get a better look at her. She didn't look like she was in nearly as much pain as before, she wasn't wincing in pain as often as before, and, even though her skin color was already pale before she got hurt, she wasn't as pale as before. Her face twitched a little before her eyes slowly started to open, she looked like she was in a daze. "Segira?" He asked her softly, leaning in a little closer, he hoped she was healthy enough to hear him and reply.
Segira blinked slowly a few times before turning her head to the side to look at him, her eyes were half closed and she looked exhausted. "Gohan…?" She asked quietly.
Gohan sighed in relief and started to relax. "Yeah, it's me." "Thank goodness she's okay." He replied, thinking the last part to himself.
She blinked again to focus her eyes a little better. "What…what happened…?" She suddenly noticed and Dende and Piccolo after a second or two and she almost immediately jumped away from them, standing on shaky legs, she looked pretty startled. "W-who are they!?" She asked, her voice shaking. Before anyone could reply, she suddenly winced in pain, grabbing her shirt over her chest where the knife used to be, and she practically fell over. Before she could hit the floor, however, Gohan quickly caught her in his arms.
"Don't move so fast like that, you're not fully healed." Dende told Segira.
She looked up at Dende with one eye closed and the other eyes half open because of the pain, she had a fearful look on her face again, mixed with pain from her injury that still wasn't completely healed yet. She tried to struggle against Gohan's hold on her, but she was too weak to do anything that was very effective. "But…" She started to protest, but her voice trailed off when she suddenly felt too weak to even speak.
"Calm down, Segira, these guys are friends. I told you about them on our way here, remember?" Gohan told her.
She paused for a moment before weakly looking up at Gohan with a puzzled look on her face. "You mean…they're Dende and Piccolo…?" She managed to ask him weakly.
He nodded. "Yeah, sorry they scared you, but you got hurt earlier and Dende was healing you."
"I was…hurt…? How…?" She was completely confused now.
"I'll explain when you're fully healed, okay?" He asked her as he gently eased her back onto the floor. She winced a bit in pain before slowly nodding in response. Once she was laying on the floor, Dende continued healing her, but this time, he talked to her to try to make her more comfortable with him since she was still pretty tense.
Piccolo looked at Gohan. "While you're at it, you should tell her to keep her tail hidden." Piccolo told Gohan.
Gohan looked back at Piccolo with a lifted eyebrow. "Huh?" Gohan asked in confusion. Gohan looked down at Segira as she and Dende talked and saw her tail curled up next to her leg, he hadn't even noticed it until now.
"I'm pretty sure that's how those scientists recognized her so quickly. Now that they know what she looks like, she won't be able to go anywhere without the high risk of them recognizing her."
Gohan looked at Piccolo again. "Actually, that's not entirely true. We never got close enough for them to see exactly what she looks like now." Gohan pointed out. They did get pretty close that one time, but Segira pulled away before they got that close.
Piccolo lifted an eyebrow at Gohan. "Are you sure about that?" He asked in disbelief. Gohan nodded in response.
"Alright, you're all healed up!" Dende told Segira, drawing Gohan's and Piccolo's attention.
Segira sat up and looked at Dende, amazed at his healing ability. "Th-thank you." She said quietly before slowly getting up to her feet, surprised that she didn't feel even the slightest bit of pain. She didn't do anything for a while before she turned around to face Dende, an apologetic look on her face. "I'm…I'm sorry for jumping away like that earlier…" She looked at Piccolo. "And I'm sorry to you too…I shouldn't of acted like that…" She apologized to them both, ashamed of her behavior when she first saw them.
Dende smiled softly at her. "Its fine, Segira, we kind of figured you'd react the way you did." He reassured her.
"Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you." Piccolo added.
Segira stared at them both for a moment, she was kind of surprised they didn't yell at her or anything like she was used to. Since she wasn't in the laboratory and since almost everyone's she's met so far was much nicer, however, everything that she thought was normal most likely not used in everyday life, as far as she could tell anyway. She smiled slightly and nodded a little before looking at Gohan with a puzzled look on her face. "So…what happened earlier? I…I don't remember anything…" Segira told Gohan.
Gohan looked at her with a lifted eyebrow. "Really?" He asked in disbelief.
Segira tilted her head down, but she kept her eyes on Gohan. "Well…I remember everything up to being tangled up in that net, but I can't remember anything past that, except…" She paused for a moment before speaking up again, her voice a bit quieter than before. "I remember waking up again in your arms and being in a lot of pain…but then I blacked out again…"
"It's just like after her fight with Pikkon and Vegeta. Does that mean this happens every time she acts differently?" He thought to himself. He sighed quietly before explaining everything that happened after she got tangled up in the net.
When he finished, Segira had a horrified look on her face to hear about everything. She looked down at her open hands with wide, fearful eyes. "I…I killed…people…?" She stammered, a lump forming in her throat. It was true that she was scared to death of them and even hated them, but she never wanted to kill them! She looked up at Gohan with a saddened look on her face. "Why…would I do something…like that…?" She felt so horrible for knowing she did something like that, she knew she was going to break down and start crying at any second. But she suddenly felt someone pull her into a hug, it was Gohan. But she didn't really care who it was, she wrapped her arms around him before burying her face in his shirt and crying.
"It wasn't your fault, you weren't in control of yourself when you did that." Gohan told her softly as he held her in his arms, sure, it was pretty awkward for him, but he could tell Segira needed it.
"I still killed them…that energy wave was from my hand…!"
"But it wasn't really your energy and you yourself didn't kill them, someone else was controlling you and making you kill them."
She pulled away and looked up at him with teary eyes, "Like...when I was fighting Pikkon...and Vegeta…?"
He nodded. "Yeah, just like that. It wasn't you who was fighting them because you couldn't remember the last part of the fights like how you can't remember what happened earlier." He hoped that made sense.
She sniffled a bit and wiped the tears from her eyes with her lower arm before nodding slowly. "I guess you're right…" She said quietly, fighting back more tears that threatened to fall. She looked up at Gohan and hugged him again. "Thank you, Gohan." She told him, but she still felt really bad for the scientists that were killed, even if they tortured her all her life.
A/N: Yay! Segira's okay! Sort of...I don't think she's that happy that she killed people though... Yeahhhhh... Anyways! What did you guys think of this chapter? What do you think/expect to happen next? Anything you wanna see happen? I already have the rest of this book written out in, like, 5 notebooks, but I'm willing to add a scene in if you guys want. If there is, then say so in a review, PM, or a message to my Facebook page, that includes your thoughts, concerns, questions, and anything else you wanna say, they're greatly appreciated!
