Chapter 26

Love Will Find a Way

Legolas would be leaving soon, as would my brother. To say I was depressed was an understatement. I had thoroughly enjoyed the time I was able to spend with Legolas and Thorin. But knowing that they would be leaving soon…it was breaking me slowly.

Today I was lying beneath my favorite willow tree by the lake. All I had over me was a silk sheet and my pants. My hair was being held up by a single silver stick and my back was showing. I sighed and closed my eyes.

"Kasumi?"

I smiled at Legolas' voice. I looked over my shoulder and saw him looking away. I smirked and shook my head. I made sure I was covered and then walked over to him.

"Legolas look at me please." I whispered.

He did so and when he did he blushed. I smiled and shook my head.

"Legolas you have nothing to be embarrassed about."

"My apologies."

I smiled at him. He was adorable in the way he acted with me. He was so proper and formal at times, especially with me, and I did not want him to be. I smiled and touched his face. He looked into my eyes and my smile fell. I had never let myself cry over a man before, but this was different. I loved Legolas so much and knowing that he would soon be leaving was starting to tear me apart. Tears filled my eyes and I looked away.

"Sumimasen." I whispered.

He gently turned my face back to his.

"I know." he said.

I just stared at him, not knowing what to say. He kissed me hard on the lips, unlike ever before. The tears rolled down my cheeks, but I still kissed him back with as much force as I could. He pulled back but I could still feel the warmth from his lips.

"It matters not where I go, I am always with you Kasumi. I love you than anyone else in the world. You are my greatest treasure. I would ask you to come with me, and someday I will, but for now your place is here. Here with your father, brothers and sister." he whispered.

I took his hand and squeezed.

"Ask me to come with you Legolas. I will come without hesitation." I cried.

He sighed and pulled me to his chest.

"No meleth nin. That would not be fair to your family. They need time with you. And if you really do love me as I love you, then we shall be together again soon. Gweston a'mealamin."

I did my best to stop crying but I could not seem to find a way. Legolas stroked my hair and tried to calm me down.

"I do love you Legolas! So much that it hurts every time you are far from me. Yes I love my family, but I love you too! That is why I cannot bear the thought of you leaving." I sobbed.

His hold on me tightened a bit.

"It is almost hard to believe how much I love you. Even though I have only known you for a few years. But I do love you. I want to take you with me, but this is your home Kasumi."

I looked up into his eyes.

"My home is wherever you are." I said.

Legolas' POV

My eyes widened. Her devotion to me would never cease to amaze me. I had to smile, for I knew not what else I could do.

"Kasumi my love….this is not goodbye. I will see you again and you have Emerald. You could visit me anytime you wished or I could come to you. But your father only just got you back, they need time with you first. I will always be thinking about you."

More tears flooded her eyes and I pulled her back into my arms. I never thought I could love someone so much, but I loved Kasumi. Words could never express it, no amount of action could ever prove it. And yet I somehow knew that she knew how much I had come to love her.

"Spend time with them. I will come back as often as I can until you cannot stand me."

She laughed a little.

"I will never grow tired of seeing your handsome face. Daisukidesu, Legolas."

"I love you too Kasumi." I whispered.

Being there with her was the best time of my life. Just holding her in my arms was enough for me. I pulled back so I could look into her eyes. She smiled at me and I pressed my lips against hers. She leaned into me and her hands went up my back. She nipped my lower lip and I moaned, giving her tongue easy access. Her hands fisted in my tunic and I held her tighter if possible. She pulled back and looked into my eyes. Just like she had so many times before, she took off her amulet and put it around my neck.

"Take this with you, I want you to have it."

'Kasumi I cannot take this. Your parents made it for you."

She smiled and nodded then put her hand over the stone.

"And they gave it to me to protect me, now I am giving it to you. Look…."

I looked down and she pulled something from under her wrap. It was another amulet with another name on it. My name. She smiled and took my hand.

"I made this. No matter where you are or long it takes for you to come back, I am always with you. And you with me. My parents had amulets similar to these. My mother taught me how to make them so one day when I found the man I loved I could make one for him. You are the one I love Legolas."

I just smiled at her and squeezed her hand.

"From what you have told me, your Japanese parents were very good people with kind and loving hearts. I wish I had the honor of meeting them."

She smiled and looked up at the sky, closing her eyes as she did.

"You have met them, because you have met me. They still live within me, in the things I do, the things I say. They will never truly be gone from me. Just as I will never truly be gone from you."

Tears welled in my eyes and I kissed her soft lips. She wrapped her arms around me and I tunneled my hand into her soft hair. Leaving her was proving to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do. So I kissed her herder than I ever had before. I felt one of her hands on my face and I smiled into the kiss.

"Sugu ni watashi ni modotte kuru. Watashi wa anata no fukki o matteimasu. Come back to me soon. I shall await your return." she said.

I rested my forehead against hers and then walked away. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Kasumi's POV

He walked away and tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Sayonara watashi no ai." (Goodbye my love.)

"If I am not mistaken…."

I turned around to look at Thorin.

"There is a tower that overlooks the entire valley. Being that you are indeed an elf…."

I smiled and hugged him.

"Arigato my brother."

"Go now before he is out of sight."

I smiled again and ran off. I knew exactly what Thorin was talking about and climbed up the tower. Once at the top I saw Legolas and his father. I smiled and whistled loudly.

Legolas' POV

I heard someone whistle so I turned. I smiled and almost laughed when I saw Kasumi standing at the top of the highest tower. She was smiling at me and watching me. I held up my hand to show her I saw her. She bowed her head and then blew me a kiss. The wind blew her hair all around her and the leaves as well.

"I will return to you. And I will marry you." I whispered.
