One Second
Chapter 26
Hey guys, I know this is super quick for me to update, and I was going to write it in the previous chapter but I thought that it was a good place to stop and a nice place for this one to continue. H
Enjoy :)
When Maura awoke in the morning; it took her a few minutes to gather her bearings and remember where she was. Once she did, she was immediately hit with the memories of the previous evening, she had a flood of emotions as she recalled Jane's face when she realized what had happened, and it tore her apart, just picturing what happened, she was sure that Jane would never forgive her, but she had to try.
She made her way down the hallway to the kitchen to see Jesse and Sofia sitting at the breakfast bar drinking coffee. They both turned when they saw her, Maura could see that both of their eyes were still red from their crying the previous nights conversation, but she didn't mention it.
"Hey Maura, did you sleep ok? Do you want any breakfast?" Sofia asked, Maura could see the disappointment in her eyes, and in Jesse's but she knew it was to be expected, she had done wrong, and it was her fault.
"No thanks, but coffee would be good." Maura attempted a smile, and with a curt nod, Jesse poured her a mug.
"I called Angela earlier and she said that Jane hasn't left her room yet, so we're going to pop over in a little while and see how she is. I would suggest that you go home and wait to here from us, I'm fairly sure that Jane wouldn't want to see you just yet." Jesse spoke. Her voice wasn't harsh, but Maura knew that's how she wanted to make it sound. Since their incident with Hoyt, Jesse and Jane had become quite close and it was understandable why Jesse was so protective over Jane.
"You're right." Was all Maura said before taking a seat next to Sofia. She didn't know what else to say.
About an hour later, they were all showered and ready to go. They got in their cars and drove in opposite directions. Their parting was quite awkward, Sofia said she'd call Maura with how Jane was doing and what sort of thing she was thinking, and Jesse just gave her a small nod before getting in the car.
Upon arriving at the Rizzoli household, Jesse and Sofia held hands and Sofia knocked on the door, it wasn't long before Angela answered.
"Hi Mrs Rizzoli, how is Jane doing?" Jesse asked quickly. Angela opened the door and they followed her into the kitchen.
"I don't know I haven't seen her yet, but I don't really know what's happened, all I know is what you told me this morning. So Maura cheated?" Angela asked, worry obvious in her voice. Small nods from the women in front of her was all it took for Angela to start crying. "This will break her." Sofia went round and gave Angela a tight hug, it wasn't long before Angela was crying into her shoulder, Jesse was just here to check on Jane so she spoke up.
"I'm going to go check on Jane." She stated simply before leaving them in the kitchen, making her way upstairs. It was barely a minute before she came barreling back down the stairs and barged her way into the kitchen.
"She's gone, she's not here. Her bed hasn't been slept in. Where is she?" Jesse nearly screamed, it wasn't until now that she realized how much she cared for the teenager.
"Oh my god!" Was all Angela said before crying more.
Across town, Maura was pulling into her driveway, thinking of the day to come, she had to fix it. She had to make sure Jane was ok. She got out of her car, and walked towards the front door, stopping dead in her tracks when she saw the lone, wet figure sitting on her porch steps.
"Jane? What are you doing here? How long have you been here?" Maura was so happy she was there, but didn't know what do make of it. She was soaked through and her clothes were sticking to her, meaning she'd been there a while, but it had been raining all night and morning, so it didn't really help her narrow down a time frame.
"What time is it?" Were the first words Jane had spoken in a long time. Maura checked her watch and told her it was just after 10am. "About 10 and a half hours then." Jane spoke. Maura ushered her inside, and Jane followed silently.
"You've been here all night? Why?" Maura was so confused. She thought Jane would hate her, but she was far from it.
"I needed to see you." Maura let out a soft smile but couldn't help feel bad, Jane had been on her doorstep all night, in the cold and rain, waiting for her to come home.
"Let's get you out of those wet clothes, go and get changed, I'll put some coffee on and then we'll talk." Jane simply nodded, she was too tired to argue. She trudged towards Maura's bedroom and got changed.
In the kitchen, Maura sent a quick text to Sofia to tell her Jane was here and they were going to talk. Maura couldn't help but think what was about to come, how was Jane going to react? What was she going to say? Maura's questioned would soon be answered as she heard Jane coming down the hallway. Maura silently gave Jane her coffee and led her into the living room. They both sat on the couch, but as far away as possible. Maura opened her mouth to speak, but didn't know what to say, so closed it again. She tried again.
"Jane I-" She tried, but was cut off by Jane.
"Stop. Maura, I'm so sorry, I know that this was all my fault. I know I haven't treated you the way I should have done. I know I've been holding out on the level of intimacy you want and so I forced you to go elsewhere and I'm so sorry, but all it made me realize is that all I want is you, there is nothing more I want. There is nothing I want that would make me happier and I'm going to do everything I can to keep you. It killed me to see you in the arms of another woman and know that I was my fault. I've treated you so badly over the last year and I know I shouldn't have done but I kept telling myself that I was doing it to keep you safe. That I withdrew from everyone because I knew that Hoyt goes after anyone I care about, and that might put you in danger and I couldn't stand the thought of that. I love you Maura, more than anything and I want you to give me another chance to prove it. I hope you can forgive me for everything that has happened over the last year and that I can prove to you how much you mean to me, and how much I will try not to let anything ever happen to you, and how much I just want to make us work. I'm sorry I made you go elsewhere, I truly am." Jane was silently crying. But Maura could barely believe it. Jane was blaming herself, why wasn't she surprised?
"Jane, none of this is your fault. It is all mine. I love you so much, and I don't know what I was thinking. All we did was kiss but I felt so bad, it wasn't your lips I was kissing, and then when you came in, I could see everything written all over your face and I hated myself that much more. I couldn't stand that it was me that put that look on your face. I never want to do that again." Maura wailed.
"You just kissed? But she was topless?" Jane questioned.
"After all I said, that's what you pick up on?" Maura chuckled. "Yeah, I spilt my drink on her and she was changing, I fell off the couch, she tried to catch me and fell on top of me, and then she kissed me. Jane I'm so sorry, it will never ever happen again. And just to clarify, whilst it would be wonderful to be with you that intimately, if you're not ready, I'm not going to force you, or look anywhere else. I will wait as long as necessary and I will never betray your trust again. Jane I am honestly so sorry, but I am so glad you're here. But please don't blame yourself, it honestly wasn't your fault." Maura explained. Jane moved closer to Maura on the couch but she didn't really know what she was going to do. She just wanted to be close. Jane took Maura's hand in her own, and placed it upon her heart.
"You feel that. That is my heart, beating just for you." Jane stated simply. It was enough to make Maura cry. "Oh baby, don't cry. I know you didn't do it to hurt me, and I love you too much to not have you in my life, so let's start again, ok? Move on, act like it never happened." Jane smiled. "Whilst I was hurt and angry to start with, I realized if it wasn't all my fault, it partially was, I've treated you so badly and you've stood by me the whole time, and I didn't know how much pressure that was putting on you, and for that, I'm sorry."
"I would like that." Maura grinned. She was slightly surprised when Jane launched herself across the remaining gap between them and pushed her lips onto Maura's, it took Maura no time at all to respond. She had Jane back.
It quickly became a battle between the two, each fighting for dominance in the others mouth. It was a heated and passionate kiss and displayed so much love and desire that neither wanted to stop. But soon, the need for air became too much and they broke apart.
"Wow." Was all Maura could manage. Jane just grinned her Rizzoli grin and lowered herself on top of Maura on the couch. Maura had never seen this side of Jane, sure they'd had passionate make out sessions before, but this was different, it felt different, there was a new kind of desire behind Jane's eyes, so much desire in fact, that they were almost black. Maura knew that her eyes reflected exactly what she was seeing in Jane's.
As Jane lowered herself on top of Maura, their lips met again, not as forceful as before, but just as passionate, but softer. Jane was attempting to convey all her love in one kiss, and Maura certainly knew that. She wrapped her arms around Jane's waist, pulling her impossibly closer. Jane had one hand behind Maura's neck and the other was keeping her up just beside Maura's head. Maura moaned into the kiss and Jane broke apart at the sound, flashing a Rizzoli grin before continuing their kiss. Maura's hands found their way under Jane's shirt, feeling across her toned abs, and to Maura's surprise, Jane didn't tense, she didn't pull away, but she could feel Jane smile into their kiss, which only urged her on. She loved the feel of Jane's abs, they were so defined, she could feel the difference of scar and normal skin as she ran circles over her stomach, as she inched ever lower, she could feel Jane's muscles tense, to begin with, she thought it was through fear, but as Jane moaned she realized it was from arousal, which made the wetness between her own legs grow.
Jane began kissing Maura's neck, finding a spot just below her ear, which made Maura writhe in pleasure below her, so she continued on that spot before trailing kisses down her neck to her collarbone, once again Maura moaned in pleasure, she was now finding Jane's shirt to be too restricting of movements and so began undoing the buttons, to which Jane didn't complain and so she continued. Opening her eyes to be met with Jane's bare chest and toned stomach, which only increased her levels of arousal. Jane chuckled a small chuckle which made Maura look at her.
"What? Mine was wet." Jane smirked.
"And you didn't have anything else on your mind?" Maura teased.
"Maybe." Was all Jane said before she continued her assault on Maura's neck. Maura moaned in pleasure one last time before she'd had enough. She pushed Jane back to see hurt on her face. Desire still in her eyes.
"Bedroom." Was all Maura could manage. The look on Jane's face changed immediately. She stood from the couch, shrugged the shirt from her shoulders and carried Maura bridal style into her bedroom before unceremoniously dropping her onto the bed before once again climbing on top of her.
Hope you liked it :) I am a hopeless romantic and love it when things work out in the end :)
