"What in the name of Cybertron?!" I heard Barricade curse in the hallway. "Squishy!"
"Ya?"
My mech creator stumbled through my door and shot me a confused look. "Why in Primus' name is all your stuff in the hallway and why are you standing upside down?"
"It's called a handstand."
"W-What are you doing?"
"Staring at a wall."
"Why?"
"I'm thinking on what color to use."
I saw Barricade face the wall I was looking at. I had drawn my own version of 'Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima'. The only difference with my drawing and the original picture was that instead of United States Marines, I had drawn the Autobots and it was on Cybertron, not on earth. I had drawn Optimus, Ratchet, Ironhide, Jazz, and Barricade placing the flag.
I looked up at Barricade for a second and saw that he had a small smile on his holoform lips.
"What?"
"It's good." He walked over to the wall and touched my drawing carefully. "You got your mother's talent."
I dropped myself from my handstand and sat up. Barricade had never said a word about my mother. I didn't know my mother could draw. It actually made me want to not draw. I didn't want anything in common with the woman who left me behind. I huffed and crossed my arms as I felt something course through my veins. "I'd rather not."
"Static-"
"I don't want anything to do with her!" Sudden hate flashed through me. "I'm nothing like the woman who left me behind! I have nothing in common with her! I have nothing in common with anyone! I am no ones! I don't have parents! Sunstreaker was right; I should stop acting like a spoiled little brat! I should see the way I am! I'm orphaned, a freak, a loser and nothing but a waste and useless!"
"Phoebe-."
"No! Don't Phoebe me!" I didn't know what was coming over me. "The only thing I have in common with my mother is that I'm just as blind! She didn't see the danger you were to her and I don't see the thing I am! I tell myself that I'm normal, but I'm not! I'm far from it!"
"Rho, that's enough!"
"I'm going to see if Ratchet brought any painkiller with him… I got a headache." I stood up and wrapped my arms around myself before walking away. I didn't understand why I suddenly burst. Why was I so angry all of the sudden?!
Tears of confusion ran down my face as I walked down the stairs. Ratchet, Ironhide, Chromia, Arcee, and Elita-One were unpacking the boxes and giving everything a spot in the living room and kitchen. Their holoforms were chatting and laughing.
I walked out the front door; everybody was too busy to notice me.

Barricade's POV
I growled at myself as Phoebe stormed out. I didn't understand where her outburst came from all of a sudden. Something was not right in her processor.
I bit my glossa and shook my head; I should have known that the sparkling didn't want anything to do with Cynthia, but when I thought about when she broke down two days ago and called out for Cindy…
I shook my head again.
Why was the sparkling so difficult?
"What did you do?"
My holoform head shot to the door opening where I could see Elita's holoform glaring at me. I could see that she wanted to beat the slag out of me. Her pink hair was pulled back in a ponytail, as I remember it was called, she wore a black leather jacket with a pink shirt underneath, tight dark pink jeans and black boots like Phoebe always wore. A human could think her cute and nice, but her glare and posture said different.
I growled at her and fisted my hands. "I didn't do anything." I answered as calmly as I could. I didn't need to tell her anything!
"I know you did something." She growled back. "I'm her guardian, Barricade, you answer to me!"
"And I'm her creator so I don't have to answer slag to anyone!" I snapped. "What happens between me and the sparkling are none of your business!"
"So that's why she just walked out of the house BY HERSELF as if no one notices?!" Elita yelled. "I've know her longer than you, anything you say to the sparkling is my business! You don't know her like I know her! So if something or somebot hurts the sparkling then they answer to me! She's my charge!"
"And she's my sparkling, so don't push your luck!"
"Your sparkling?! Ha, don't make me laugh!" I didn't like the sarcastic tone in her voice. "She isn't your sparkling, Barricade. She is far from it! Oh, sure, she might be your energon and you might be her creator, but she is not your sparkling! Creators are supposed to take care of their sparklings, but what do you do? You tear everything apart! You weren't there when she got hit in the face. You weren't there when she had nightmares. And I'm sure as Pit that you weren't there when I saw her staring at a knife!"
"What do you want from me Elita?!" I asked. "You don't think my spark breaks every time I see Static? She reminds me of my biggest mistake, of the one thing I wish I could take back! Is that what you wanted to hear?! You want to hear me say that I regret having her sparked?! Believe me, Elita, there is nothing more that I wish to take back… I'm trying my best to put everything straight! I'm trying my best to fix her! But I see you think you can do it much better than me. You know what? From now on, you can be her creator! I'll go say my goodbye and leave this miserable island since nobody seems to have one bit of faith in me except for that slagging medic! Good luck with Static."
I slammed my shoulder against her on my way out. Ratchet, Ironhide, Arcee and Chromia all looked at me when I reached downstairs. I could see that they had heard our fight, they knew enough. I nodded my head and walked out the front door.
Of course Ratchet decided to hurry after me!
"Barricade-"
"Don't!" I snapped and turned around to face him. "Elita is right, I tear everything apart!"
"Barri-"
"Enough!" I roared before taking a deep breath to calm myself down. "Enough… I made my choice… I'll say goodbye to Phoebe and fly to the mainland." With that I transformed into my bipedal mode and started to search for Phoebe.

Phoebe's POV
"Stupid mood swings, stupid tears!" I growled to myself as I headed towards the beach I was at last night. I roughly brushed away my tears with the sleeve of my Marvel Studio hoodie, but them damn tears kept on coming! "Fucking tears! Why am I even crying?!"
"Static…"
I turned around and saw Barricade heading my way. Something was wrong; I could see it in the way his bipedal mode walked. He wasn't walking with the same arrogant swag he always used to walk in. He was almost slouching.
"What's wrong?" Worry filled me up. Fucking mood swings! "If it's 'bout what I said, I'm sorry. I don't know why I freaked. I'm sorry! I didn't mean it. Well, not all of it at least… I'm sorry-"
"I'm leaving."
"Where to?" I asked. "I never heard the Decepticon alarm."
"I'm not staying here, Squishy."
"Well, where are you going then?"
"I don't know."
"When will you get back?"
"I'm not coming back."
My head snapped up so fast that my neck cracked. He was dead serious. "Wh-What?" I asked through my shock. "Wh-Why?! Y-you can't leave me! I won't let you go! I don't want to be alone! If it's because of my outburst, then I'm sorry! Those things sometimes happen, I can't control it! I'm sorr-"
"It is not something you did." Barricade said as he bent down a little so I could face him better. "Not everything is your fault. Elita and the others will take good care of you and fix whatever is wrong in there." His finger moved over my head and wiped my tears away. "Listen to Darla and Thomas, they will raise you right."
"B-But you're supposed to raise me!" I managed to say with a hiccup. "You're my dad!"
"No, Thomas is." He said with a sad smile. "They wanted you Phoebe. From all the kids they could have they chose you. They wanted to keep you and protect you. They are better parents then I will ever be. You deserve something good for once, Static."
"B-But!"
"I can't be something I'm not!" He snapped. Barricade's eyes flashed for a second before he calmed down a little. "Listen to your parents." He said before he stood up and walked away.
I grabbed the skin above my heart. I felt like a door was being slammed in my face. It felt like my whole world was falling apart. He couldn't leave me!
My eyes widened in understanding, it must have been something with the spark bond Ratchet once mentioned.
"Dad." I whispered to myself. There wouldn't be a better parent for me then Barricade. He knows why I am who I am. If he didn't think he would be a good parent, why did this bond thing hurt? And he knew my Cybertronian name! How had I even gotten that name? How did everybody know that name?!
"Barricade!" I shouted and started to run after him. I ran as fast as possible when he disappeared from my view. I wasn't going to let him go now that I've found him. We didn't know each other very well, but I've only known him for like three days!
-Bracing energon for maximum speed-
I frowned at the alert in my sight, but before I could stop or do anything I felt my blood heating up and I was able to run faster.
-Speed 25 mph. Warning! Overheating. Warning! Speed form preparing.-
"What?" I asked myself. I looked down at my feet and saw them moving faster than I could wrap my head around. My legs suddenly gave in and I AUTOMATICALLY curled in a ball before I felt myself being shot off.
I shot through the sky like I was a bullet before I slammed into something hard and fell to the ground as I uncurled.
Stars appeared in front of my eyes when I opened them. I was too damn dizzy to get up and focus my sight. All I could see was a black and white blurry object.
"What in Primus name?" I tried to smile as I heard Barricade's voice. I had caught up with him. "Are you alright sparkling?!"
"Hurts…" I managed to groan out in a whisper. I couldn't feel my body.
"Wha' happened?" That sounded like Jazz. Barricade must've shrugged because I didn't hear a reply before Jazz continued. "I'll get Ratchet, get 'er to the Med Bay."
XxX
Barricade stepped into the med bay with me in the crook of his arm. My head and view had gotten a little clearer, but my sight still told me that I was overheated. I wonder what that was all about. Barricade gently tried to place me on the mech-sized berth but I kept hold of his armor. I wasn't going to let him go anywhere.
"Sparkling, let go." He said softly and tried to loosen my arms with his sharp fingers. "Ratchet is going to be right over to check on you."
"Stay." I managed to say through my pain. "Please, papa."
I noticed him slump down a little. I knew that word would get to him.
"Alright." He sighed or vented or whatever you want to call it. He tried to reach for one of the giant chairs, but it was a little hard for him since I hadn't let him go. "You have to let me go, Phoebe."
"No…" I whispered and bit my lip. "Hurts too much."
I caught the small smile on Barricade's face as he cradled me in his arm and held me close to his chest like I was a little baby. He took a seat on the bed and leaned back against the wall. I nuzzled into warm metal and sighed happily before it turned painful. I hoped I hadn't broken anything.
"Tell me about mom." I said suddenly. I looked up when I didn't get a response. Barricade was looking at me in utter confusion. "Where did you meet her?"
"…At a bar." He said carefully with confusion still clear on his face.
"Cliché." I mumbled when it hurt too much to snort.
"That's what she said when she thought back."
"How long were you two together?"
"Three years."
My eyes widened in shock. They had really been serious! "What happened?" I asked
"I got word of Decepticons that were in the neighborhood, I just went over to greet them. I hadn't seen some of my comrades in stellar cycles! They weren't supposed to find out about her, but I couldn't keep my mouth shut." Barricade turned and looked out the giant window before he continued. "I had told them about the human woman who had stolen my spark as they laughed in my face. They found the thought of a member of the Defense Force and a human together hilarious. One I considered comrade went to Starscream and told him about Cindy. Starscream's holoform knocked on our door one day and asked if I wanted to join the Decepticons, but I declined. He started threatening me with Cynthia's life in a way that I couldn't decline, but I still said no. Then one day I got home from a drive and our apartment building was on fire, your mother was still inside and I had to rescue her. She had to stay in the hospital for three months because she got too much smoke in her lungs. Starscream came to me again and he said he would kill her if I didn't join. I joined and went to "work", but eventually Cindy was getting in the way and Starscream gave me two options. I couldn't kill her or…"
"Was I planned?" I asked in a whisper, tears for my mech creator fell from my face. He had a life if it hadn't been for those stupid Decepticons. "I mean… Did you know I would happen?"
"No."
"How did you find out?"
"Your mother moved back in with her parents after what happened." Barricade sighed. "I always passed by to just see if she was alright. Then one time I saw that her parents weren't home. I decided to apologize to her and explain everything. I had just parked in the driveway when she came out of the house. I could already see your spark in her abdomen; you were already shining through her white shirt. The glare she shot me told me enough, I knew you were mine and that everything was my fault. She was on her way to the hospital for her abortion appointment. I don't know why she agreed with me to keep you, all she said was that she wanted nothing to do with me ever again after you would've been born."
"I really am unwanted, ain't I?"
"You know you're not."
"I feel like it." I sniffed. Damn, I could feel my tears coming up again. "Mom didn't want me, twenty-two foster families didn't want me, Darla and Thomas wouldn't have wanted me if they could have kids, you're leaving me…" I bit my lip when a sob escaped me.
"Oh, sparkling." Barricade mumbled and lifted up so he could nuzzle into my side. "I won't leave you, I promise."
"You two done?" I turned my head and saw Ratchet standing in the door opening. There was a hidden smile on his face, but I don't know why. "What happened?"
"I hurt myself." I said with a small smile.
"What did you do now?!"
"I don't know." I said as I gestured Barricade to help me sit up carefully. "Barricade told me he was going to leave and then as he walked away it was like a door was slammed in front of my face. I knew it had to do something with the sparkbond you once told me about and I knew that the only person who could raise me right was Barricade. So I ran after him and I ran as fast as I could before my visor thing popped up again and told me it was preparing itself for maximum speed and the next thing I knew was my body giving in, curling into a ball midair and being shot off like a bullet. I can't feel my body anymore, Ratchet. I don't know what to do…"
"It must have to do something with your sparkling system." Ratchet said as he stepped closer to have a better look at me. "The energon rush you had back in the house must have set something off in your system." The tip of his finger turned into a little light, which I automatically started to follow. "It looks like you overheated your body." He hummed. "I suggest you stay in the med bay for tonight so we can start examining you tomorrow morning."
I whined and dropped myself from my sitting position back into the crook of Barricade's arm, I didn't care if it hurt. "I'll never finish my room this way! If anyone touches my drawing-! What about my gift?!"
"You'll get it eventually." Barricade smiled for a sec before it was gone again.
I wanted Ratchet to go away. I liked the happy Barricade better than the grumpy one, but he only showed his happy side if we were alone. Ratchet, GO AWAY!
"Will you tell me what it is?" I asked, my eyes sparkling with hope. Maybe that look would help me.
"You already know what it is." Barricade huffed, which made me glare at him. "It's on the wish list you showed Elita back on the mainland."
I frowned in confusion. I never showed Elita anything, unless she saw the page when I threw my sketchbook at her head.
"Did you get me a dog?"
"No."
"Marvel Studios?"
"No."
"Piece of space debris?"
"No."
"Art stuff?"
"No."
"A fountain pen?"
"No."
"Do you know how long my wish list is?!"
"Apparently long." Barricade huffed and placed me on the giant bed, which made me yelp in pain, but it was over not long after. "You need to recharge. I'll tell your parents about what happened today… Sleep sparkling." He added when I was about to protest. "Ratchet, can I talk to you for a click?"
Ratchet just nodded his head and walked out of the med bay and Barricade quickly moved a finger through my hair before he followed after.
"Don't make me come hunt you down." I called after him. He looked over his shoulder and smiled before closing the mech-sized door behind him. Not soon after my eyes got heavy and I fell asleep.
XxX
Barricade's POV
"I see you're still here." Ratchet smiled, which made me roll my eyes. "What do you want?"
"Something is wrong with Static."
"I know that-!"
"Do you?" I questioned. "Her behavior has been uncontrollable ever since she got here. You saw how she reacted to the energon, but there was more. When I went to her room to see how she was, she got mad at me all of a sudden when I said she had her mother's talent. I've never seen anyone's optics glow that deadly red! Then she left and she was talking to herself and leaking out of her optics i told her I was going to leave. The next thing I knew was her flying past me faster than a bullet. She blew a dent in one of the hangar walls! Not just a small dent, Ratchet! The whole wall needs to be repaired unless we want to tear the building down! And a fragging bullet, Ratchet! And she survived the hit! How can she overheat her body if she's not even mechanical?!"
"The girl is developing strangely, I will give you that." Ratchet put a servo on my shoulder and for some odd reason it made me calm down. "But we don't know how much of her is Cybertronian. Sparklings her age would start to develop their own marks, such as door wings or details on the helm. I remember that Blurr got his fast speed and talk around this age. It's nothing to worry about. I will start examining her first thing in the morning before she starts her training with Ironhide and her driving with those Terror twins."
"I'm not liking that idea."
"Neither do I." He smiled. "Get your recharge, Barricade, you've been worried enough for one day."
"I'm not being worried!"
There was a loud clang before I got a processor ache. The slagging mech had hit me in the head with one of his wrenches!
"Recharge now or I will sedate you!"
"Fine!" I grumbled and walked away.
