Chapter 25: The Breaking Point
Dan was in the throne room next to Luna who was next to her sister with Discord on the other side of her. Dan was having a slight problem concentrating because of the fact he rarely used the soul check ability. Since he didn't use it often he didn't have full control of it. so he was feeling the souls off all the ones around him. That was a weak moment that would prove to test Dan's mental strain limits.
The head of the head of the guard, that was below John, came into the room noticeable annoyed. "Sir I must talk to you about that creature you brought back with you! He seems dangerous to both you and Luna. Let alone the other rulers and everyone he come in contact with. I must urge you to through him back where he came from before he causes any harm to the princesses." Dan had some of his patience back, but that was before this stupid pony insulted his brother. Dan stood and walked closer to him as he spoke.
"I told you that thing is my brother. Now show him some respect. He is only dangerous to those who attack him. And if you are worried about the rulers then ask them if they trust him. They looked at his soul and know he means no harm to anypony. And I also told you he can not be returned because of dangers in the other world. So to be frank I don't care if you like him or trust him. I do and so don't my wife and the others. So you will just have to deal with it. wait…." Dan's eyes flashed as his soul checker power kicked in without him wanting them to. What Dan saw was terrifying to him.
Dan took a defensive position with his wings flared. Only Luna knew what was going on, and only because of their mental link. Luna then whispered to Celestia what Dan had seen. Celestia was appalled. Dan was furious, so he started a spell that would allow him to see everything from thoughts to fantasies in this ponies mind. What Dan saw made him go crazy with anger. Dan was realing in this ponies plans for Luna and even him. "So you don't think I deserve Luna? Why? And dare I ask what you think instead of me that would be suitable. Let me guess, you." Dan's tone was blank.
The ponies knew what was going on. He had seen it happen to many before. So he knew lieing was not a good idea, and it wouldn't work anyway. "Yes I hate the fact you are with miss Luna! Who are you to just show up out of nowhere and just take her for your own? I have been loyal to her for years, and what do I get? Not even noticed. So yes I think I could protect her better and could treat her the way she needs. With a firm hoof and maybe a belt to keep her from going insane again." Dan's eyes flared with fire.
Something in Dan snapped at this point. That long hidden side of Dan was now free to run rampant. Dan was no longer in control of his actions, nor aware of the world around him. Another presence was now in control of Dan. This thing had not had control of him since he was forced below long ago by Dan. But now he was back and ready for vengeance. But he wanted to play with these ponies before he killed them all and took Nightmare Moon as his true bride. But before all that he had to deal with insolent fool that threatened Luna. He didn't much care for Luna but he loved Nightmare, and Nightmare was a part of Luna, so she needed to be protected.
Then this new Dan decided to get this pony locked up so he could kill him for his crimes later. "Don't want to give away who I am just yet." Then Dan made a paper and quill appear next to him. "List of crimes past, present and future. Start with your soul." Then this Dan went and listed everything this pony had done in the past. Then what plans the pony had in motions now, including one to kidnap Luna and force her to get rid of Dan. Then the future plans were counted out. Dan wrote all of this down as he saw and said them out loud. Dan was walking forward with a horrible look of hate on his face. This mixed with his voice of anger made even this eragent pony treble with fear.
Dan's eyes narrowed at this pony. "Punishment will be decided as I feel fit when I see fit. Until then this will do." Dan made an anti-magic brace appear and placed it on the ponies neck. It was heavy and drained all his energy. "Now guards, take him to the dungeon and make sure it is the darkest one you have. And make sure he is alone. No more plans. No more hope of caring them out. This ends here and now. Take him away!" Dan turned and trotted over sitting next to Luna who was looking at him in shock. She could tell something was off about this whole thing, but she couldn't tell what. She couldn't get her mental connection to him to work correctly, if at all.
"Are you ok my love?" Dan smiled sweetly at her. "Yes I am now that you are safe my love. Let's finish this so we can go relax after a long day." Luna nodded slowly and continued their work. But she couldn't help feeling something bad was going on. She knew she had to speak to Nick and ask him about this. So when they were done with work Dan said he wanted to go run some errands and left Luna to her own activates. So she went to see Nick right away. She knocked on the door and head Nick coming to it. when he answered he looked tired and surprised to see her.
"Oh hey Luna what's up?" Luna shifted her weight. "We need to talk about Dan. I think something is very wrong." Nick looked worried all of the sudden seeing her worried face. "Come on in and tell me about it." Luna did as told and sat on his bed next to him. "You have known him longer and even better than I have so can you tell me why he would do something like this?" She then explained what had happened and Nick knew something was wrong. "Did he seem to blank out then come back with a slight grin? Then that's when he didn't seem right?" Luna thought for a second and nodded. Nick's eyes went wide with worry.
"Where is he now!?" Luna shrugged. "He said he had errands to do and ran off somewhere. Why?" Nick got up and ran to the door. "I know where he is and I think I know what is going on. We need to hurry before shit gets out of hand. Take us to the Dungeon now!" Luna did as he said and the two teleported to the outside of the cell that the used to be guard was in. what they saw shocked Luna and made Nick know exactly what was going on.
