Chapter 25
The day seemed to go on as normal for Zim. By the way Dib was antagonizing him, Dib had no clue that Fin was still alive. He turned in his homework to his teachers. In his Home Ed class, he informed the teacher that Fin would be out of school for a while and wasn't sure if she would be there for the remainder of the project.
He took his seat next to Gaz. Neither spoke till they were given free time at the end of class.
"How's she doing?" Gaz asked.
"She slept till the crack of dawn, but woke up in some pain. So I put her in a medical vat so she can heal faster."
"So how long before she's healed?" she asked.
"You care too much about her," Zim commented as the bell rang. "If she spends a good portion of an Earth day in there, a month." They proceeded to leave for the class. At the point where Zim would turn to go to his next class, he stopped. "Gaz, do you want to come to my base after skool to start the project sooner. Plus Fin could use a tutor in a couple classes...I could get pizza."
Gaz thought for a moment. "Right after skool?"
Zim nodded. Gaz agreed.
So after skool, the two walked back to Zim's base. They found Fin sitting on the couch sleeping where music videos were on the TV. Before dealing with her, the two did their Home Ed. homework. It was reviewing the basics of child care like how to change a diaper, feeding, and how they didn't sleep through the night.
Unbeknownst to them, Fin had woken up and was watching them. She smiled at the way the two were interacting. Zim was trying to be a show off when he really didn't know what he was doing. Gaz on the other hand was trying to get Zim to let her do it. Zim held the diaper out of reach. She tried to get it but the both ended up falling out off their seats. The two looked at each other as they blushed out of embarrassment.
Fin watch closely to see what would happen next.
The two got up and sat there. Zim smiled nervously; Gaz quickly gave a half smile. Zim gave Gaz the diaper before moving some hair out of her face. Zim was about to get up, but Gaz stopped him. The two scooted closer. However before anything could happen, the doorbell rang. Zim stood up and adjusted the wig and walked over.
Fin closed her eyes when Zim was about to pass her and waited for him to walk back. Fin opened her eyes. Zim set the pizza on the table as Gaz took a seat, They accidentally touch hands and pulled away just as fast.
The exchange might have gone on for a while, but Zim noticed that Fin was awake and watching. He gestured for her to join.
When Gaz left for the night, Fin spoke up. "Zim, do you like her?"
Zim turned to look at her. "What make you say that?"
"It looks like she likes you."
Zim paused. "Fin, it doesn't matter, I can't be in any relationship. And from now, refer to me as your father figure when we're not around anyone from the skool.
Before Fin could get another word in, the TV monitor in the next room sounded. They looked and saw it had the Irken symbol on it.
"Fin, stay in here and don't believe everything I tell the Tallest."
Fin nodded as she stood where she wouldn't be seen.
Zim walked in front of the monitor as it revealed the Almighty Tallest. "My Tallest," he greeted, "it's been a long time since you last contacted me. What did I do to earn this pleasure."
Tallest Red spoke first. "What noticed that another PAK was activated, but it wasn't in the premises of the Irken territory. What are you doing, Zim?"
Zim got nervous. It was the first time the tallest have contacted him in a few years. He thought he was ready to share his success with his leaders, but he had the urge that he shouldn't. Against his gut, he said, "My tallest, I have conducted an experiment; similar to cloning but not quite. I wanted to see what would happen when I fussed my DNA with a human's." Zim paused
"And?" Tallest Purple asked as he got inpatient.
"It was successful." The Tallest looked at each other as Zim explained. "As it turns out in this case, she is stronger than an Irkin. Pure water doesn't burn her. After being shot at fatality, she survived and is healing rapidly."
"Wait, her?" Red questioned. "What's her name?"
Zim hesitated. He glanced at her. Fin shrugged. He looked back. "Fin."
The tallest turned around to converse among themselves. After a few minutes, they turned back around. "Alright, Zim, we want to meet her. When can she be shipped out?"
"Six weeks. That way she can heal and have a little time to prepare for the journey."
The Tallest nodded as they looked at each other. "We'll be waiting to see the results," and the screen turned off.
Fin spoke up as she stopped out of the kitchen. "I don't like this, Zim...I wouldn't think the Tallest...would take time to meet me."
"Either ways, I'm just happy they didn't feel threatened." He then replied what she had said in his head. "I thought I told you to refer to me as some sort of father?"
"It's hard to adjust,...Dad." She paused. "That feels a little better," she commented unsure.
Zim gave a small smile and became lost in his thoughts. In a few days, Fin has proven herself in various ways. Zim got this feeling he wasn't familiar with. He watched as Fin down downstairs to the bedroom to relax.
