He walked out of the taxi and paid the cab driver. He stood out of the building for a minute and looked around. It had been a long time since he was here, standing outside his father's house and feeling the way he always felt, worthless. Okay Vakarian, you've fought Saren, destroyed a Collector base, hell you've worked alongside Miranda and Cerberus. You can talk to your father. He would be proud. He took a deep breath and walked inside.
His father opened the door and hugged Garrus. It had been almost three years since he last saw his son. The hug surprised Garrus. He did not expect his father to greet him with a hug but it was good, different but good. Garrus hugged him back.
"Hi dad. How are you?"
"I'm good son. I'm so happy to see you here. Come come, sit. Tell me everything."
"Yeah… everything. Where do I start?"
"Sounds… quite amazing son. Shepard sounds like a great leader and a better friend. I would love to meet him some day and hear his stories."
"It's all true." Garrus looked down at his Turian Brandy and took a drink from it. "The Reapers are a great threat, one that I don't know how we are going to stop without Shepard."
"Well Garrus, you know that a leader is only as strong as his team. He needs you and he needs your advice and support. I know that this is bothering you. The fact that The Alliance doesn't support Shepard the way you do but they are simply covering their asses. It's politics. Any good soldier goes through that. Great soldiers are caught in the middle.
"I wish it were different. It shouldn't be this way." Garrus felt uneasy. The thought of Shepard locked away while the threat of the Reapers still being out there angered him. He didn't agree with the Alliance but he trusted Shepard enough to know that he could change their minds.
"Son," Garrus's father stood up and looked out the window. "I know that you're considered about the Reapers. To tell you the truth, after listening to you, so am I." He stood there in silence. Garrus didn't know what he was going to say. He wasn't completely sure that his father believed him but he wanted his advice. His father turned around and looked at his son. "I will talk to Primarch Fedorian. Maybe he can help us deal with the Reapers."
"It won't be easy. I'm surprised you believed me father. Didn't think you would." Garrus said. Their relationship was never perfect. Things didn't get better the moment that Garrus's mother passed away. She was the bridge that connected the two.
"I know son but I'll talk to him. He'll help us." Suddenly the door opened. His sister walked in. It had been years since he saw his baby sister. She had changed so much. Garrus wondered how many males his father had to "chase" away.
"Garrus? What are you doing here? Spirits, I thought… Dad why didn't you clean for Garrus? Why didn't you offer him something to eat?!" His sister said.
"Relax, kitten. Garrus just came for a visit."
Garrus stood up and his sister ran right into his arms. It had been a long time since he held this baby sister. He was glad to be home.
"So Garrus, tell me everything. I want to know from YOU about the great Commander Shepard. Is he really as good-looking as he appears on the extranet."
"Oh boy." Garrus's father said, shaking his head.
"Umm.. he is… quite… dashing…"
"Can humans even be dashing?"
"Dad, only if he's the Commander."
