Chapter 25-Change of Plans

When Punk finally regained consciousness, he was confused by what he saw because instead of being of being in the warehouse where Luke felt him, he was in the hospital. As he tried to get up he felt a sharp stabbing pain on his ribcage so he knew that maybe he had some possible broken ribs. Closing his eyes and laying back down, he heard a knock on his door, "Well It's good to see you back in the land of the living." Punk turned to see Officer Batista walk into his room.

"You know, I don't think that's the first time I heard that one. Anyways what the hell happened, I don't remember a thing?" he asked Batista before he started to have a bad coughing attack.

"Hey take it easy come on breath," Batista coached him as he pulled off an oxygen mask that was nearby. "Here take this and breath. You have smoke inhalation because I had to pull you out of a fire," he told him as he handed Punk the mask.

Punk willingly took the mask from him and started to breathe fresh air, "Thanks man and what fire? I don't remember being in a fire." The last thing that he remembered was getting the shit beat out of him by Luke and his bat.

Batista gave him a small smile and placed his hand on his shoulder, "Trust me man there was a fire and you're lucky to be alive. See after I went back to the precinct and I called your boss like you said, I went to the warehouse to see if you needed back up and that's when I saw that the place was on fire. I also saw your car still there, so I figured that you might me inside. I ended up finding some stairs and followed them to this room and that's when I saw you on the floor. I then managed to lift you up and got you out of there before the whole place collapsed. Who did this to you man? You're pretty beat up."

"Yeah and I feel like shit too man and thanks by the way. As for who did this, let's just say that it was someone from my past that I let down and hurt badly," Punk said with a great amount of guilt in his voice.

"Yeah I get that, but you need to tell me so that I can put an APB out on them man. I man they technically the assaulted a police officer Brooks," Batista said trying to get the truth out of Punk. He knew that Punk either didn't want to tell him who did this or that he didn't exactly know who did this.

Punk just sighed and stared out the window as he held his ribs tightly. In all honesty he couldn't bring himself to tell Batista who did this to him, because he still couldn't believe it himself. "It was crazy man one minute I'm thinking that this was just some stupid idiot that I put away in jail, but then when I went up back into that room all those memories hit be like a bomb went off. Then the next thing that I know is that I'm staring into the eyes of my best friend. The friend that I thought died in that exact room."

Officer Batista looked at Punk with an equally shocked face, "No way man, are you saying what I think you are saying? Punk was it Luke?" With tears running down his face, Punk just turned his head and nodded.

Just then they heard a gasp coming from the doorway and when they looked, they saw AJ standing there in shock, "Oh my god Phil what happened? The doctor told me that you were admitted her, but I didn't believe them."

"Hey it's okay, I'm fine April really," Punk told her as he caught her when she ran into his arms crying. "I just had a little accident but everything is okay now."

"What do you mean a little accident Phil? All you were supposed to me doing was going home to get some spare clothes and to check on the kids," AJ said looking up at him in confusion.

Punk looked over at Batista who was nodding his head to tell him to tell his wife about what happened to their children. It was the only right thing to do. Then turning to his wife, Punk looked deep into her eyes and told her something that was going to break her heart, "April…Princess…there is something that I have to tell you and you are not going to like it. If you have any questions about what I have to tell you, Officer Batista here will explain what is going to happen next okay?"

AJ looked into his eyes also and knew that something bad had happened by the way that Punk had pure raw emotion in his eyes and all over his face, "Phil what the hell is going on? You need to tell me right now and don't you say that anything happened to our children…"

Meanwhile…

Across town at their hide away mansion, Luke and Amy had just gotten home and they were pissed. They had stayed behind after Luke set the warehouse on fire to watch Punk burn, but then they witnesses Batista run into the building and save him. Luke was pissed and wanted to take out Batista, but Amy warned him that he was an active cop and that his death would be investigated to the max.

"I still can't believe that you didn't let me kill that cop. Now thanks to him, that asshole Punk is still alive!" Luke shouted as they walked through the door.

"I already told you Luke that it wasn't smart to do so. If we just kill Phil then no one would see that as suspicious, but if we go and kill two cops than that will be twice as bad. We need to play it smart Luke, especially now that Phil knows who we are," Amy tried to explain to Luke and calm him down.

Luke took a second to think about what his girlfriend was saying before realizing that she was right, "Yeah I guess you're right. Things would definitely be bad considering that we are already in deep shit with the boss by not telling him that we took the kids so that's probably what we have to worry about now."

"You're damn right you have to worry about that now!" they heard a big voice call down from the top of the stairs.

Luke and Amy quickly turned and saw their boss standing there looking down at them. "Oh sir, what are you doing here?" Amy asked as they went to the bottom of the stairs to meet him.

Their boss just shook his head in disappointment, "Well I'm here because you two idiots couldn't stick to the plan and went in your own little direction. Do you know my frustration and worry when I went upstairs and found the two kids tucked away fast asleep? I thought I told you that they weren't to be messed with? They are they innocent ones and what their father has done has nothing to do with them."

"Yes sir we know that, but seeing as our plans weren't moving fast enough, we thought we would go a different direction. We know that while Punk does love AJ, he doesn't feel the same kind of love that he feels for his children. If we want him to leave AJ once and for all and hurt him, we have to take what he loves the most. However you don't have to worry sir because we aren't going to hurt the children in anyway," Luke explained to the boss and hoped that he wasn't too mad at them.

"You know what, I think you have a great idea Luke," the boss told him as he began to walk around the living room pondering about their next move. See I agree with you on needing to punish Punk and making him hurt, but taking his children away is the wrong way to go. See that will only make him more determined to get them back. No what we need to do is drive him away and we need to get the children to do that."

Both Amy and Luke looked at each other in confusion and then back at their boss. "What do you mean by that sir, how are we going to get the kids to drive their father away?" Amy asked him bit sure where he was going with all of this.

All there boss did was smile evilly before turning around and not uttering one word.

Oh no that's not good, I don't like the way that the boss was smiling. I don't know what is going on in his twisted brain, but I bet it is not good. I just hope that Punk could get to the kids in time before anything bad happens. Also I hope that AJ takes the news relatively okay and doesn't freak out to the point where nothing bad happens to Trey. Please let me know what you thought of the chapter, thanks!
