Keeper
Chapter 26
Raw continued...
As I zipped up the side of my skirt, I couldn't help but smile. There was just something so hot about doing things you aren't supposed to do. My eyes were drawn over to Dolph who was tying his trunk strings. He caught me staring and grinned. He stepped towards me and cupped my face with his hands.
"You are so gorgeous…" he said softly, giving me a big kiss on the lips.
"Thanks, babe," I said almost sheepishly, pushing my disheveled hair behind my ear.
"Seriously, this was hot."
"I think so too, Champ," I said with a wink.
"Ooooh I think I like the sound of that! Say it again!"
"Champ," I whispered.
"Mmhm, love it," he said before pressing his lips up to mine again.
"I'm glad. Now get out of here! I have to work!" I joked.
"Oh, fine. I'll see you later, K-Steele."
"Okay, bye babe!" I said as he walked by me. I slapped him on the ass on the way out. He only looked back and smiled before heading out of the door.
I quickly made my way back over to my desk and set all of the things that had been shoved off back onto the desktop. Once my desk was good as new, I sat down and pulled my compact from my bag. I touched up my makeup to ensure that I hadn't just had an office tryst mid-show.
That's when my phone began to ring. I grabbed the phone with urgency.
"Hello?" I greeted.
"Hey Kid, I need you in my office immediately."
"But Hunter, I-"
"Now!" he said very urgently.
"Okay, okay. You don't have to be cranky!" I scoffed. I hung up the phone and grabbed a few swipes of lip gloss across my lips before shuffling down the hall to Hunter's office. I never worried about being called down to his office before but tonight it felt a little different. Something was up, I could tell by his tone that something was stressing him out.
When I arrived at Hunter's office, I wasted no time to knock. I barged right in…although I was surprised with what I saw. Hunter was not alone….in fact he had a room full of people including: John Laurinitis, Ricardo Rodriguez, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler. My jaw dropped a little. I immediately tried to hide my surprise at the ensemble of people who stood arguing in the room, especially Dolph.
"What the fucking hell is going on here!" I yelled. The room fell silent and their eyes fell on me. My hands instantly began to ball up into fists, as if my body were preparing for a battle of some sort.
"Kennedy! Glad you could make it!" Triple H boomed. "These gentleman here were just complaining as always," he said gesturing to John and Alberto.
"Not surprised one bit. Alberto dear, just accept the fact that you lost. Mr. Ziggler here was the better man tonight!" I cooed.
"No! No, he was not. Swagger busted up my knee before Dolph cashed. I was hurt! I shouldn't have been have been allowed to compete in that match!" he argued.
"Nearly every Money in the Bank briefcase has been cashed that way. So I guess that means you'll have to suck it up!"
"You set him up for failure tonight and you know it!" Big Johnny said hoarsely.
"Bullshit! I made a match between Alberto and Swagger. It was nearly a rematch of last night, John, it's standard."
"It was a handicapped match! The champion was at a disadvantage!"
"I don't give a shit. He used Ricardo to cheat and get the upper hand last night. So tonight I let Jack have the advantage. It's all fair," I insisted.
"You tipped off Ziggler!" Alberto accused.
"She did not! She doesn't even like me, for god's sake," Dolph spat convincingly. Which only the two of us thought was funny.
"He's right. Like I wanted this pompous idiot as champion. As far as I'm concerned we traded in one annoying asshole for a cocky show off. Not much of an improvement if you ask me," I snapped.
"You hate me and you'll do anything to piss me off, including screw over my dear friend Alberto," Laurinitis accused.
"You don't know shit about me, John! I, on the other hand, know a hell of a lot about you. You are the worst kind of person. You are a snake in the fucking grass. This time, you weren't able to manipulate the situation in your favor and now you are whining in the COO's office like a little bitch!" I said sternly as I got up into Johnny Ace's face. His jaw tensed. His wrinkled hands balled up into fists.
"Hunter, are you seriously going to let this fetus treat me like this?!"
"Fetus? How dare you! I'm your boss!"
"I've been in this business since you were in god damn diapers. And yet you still seem to think you've earned your spot!" he growled.
"I have earned this fair and square. You could have been great too if you didn't waste your whole young life being mediocre in the ring," I said seething.
"How dare you...you…you little trollop! Had sleep your way to the top!"
My jaw dropped and I felt myself lose control of my body . I lunged at the little weasel but I didn't make contact with Johnny. I was caught by a pair of strong arms that pulled me back close to their body.
"Whoa, whoa!" I heard Sheamus coo as he restrained me protectively. Alberto was holding back my foe. "I could hear this nonsense from the damn hallway. Hunter, what the hell are you letting happen in here? Are you seriously going to let this moron call my lady a trollop?"
"I'm sorry, guys. This whole thing has gotten out of hand," Hunter apologized.
"You think?" I muttered sarcastically.
"Kennedy, I said I'm sorry," he said seriously. "But I have had enough of this. So here is what we're going to do. Alberto, you still have a rematch. So at Extreme Rules it'll be World heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler versus Alberto Del Rio in an Extreme rules match. Everybody happy?"
"Yes, thank you!" Del Rio said smugly.
"I guess if he's happy, I'm happy," Laurinitis replied.
"Dolph?"
"It sounds fair, Hunter," he admitted.
"Good. Kennedy?"
"I don't give a shit," I spat.
"You know, I have something to say here," Sheamus interjected, removing one hand from around me and using it to point at John.
"Uhh…okay, shoot big guy," Trips replied a little curiously.
"I could care less about this World Heavyweight championship match. I do care about how my girl gets treated. Johnny boy, consider this a warning….if you ever, ever talk about Kennedy in such a poor fashion ever again, I will brogue kick your head straight off of your pathetic little body. I will beat you to a bloody pulp. Do you understand me, fella?" Sheamus asked threateningly. I could hear his heart pumping fast with adrenaline. His protective grip on me became a little tighter. I almost instinctively put a hand on his arm that was sitting across my chest as an attempt to calm him.
"I hear you loud and clear, Sheamus," Laurinitis said with a voice full of cowardice.
"Good. Do you have anything to add Dollface?" the Irishman asked me thoughtfully. I smiled. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Dolph's glare. He was trying his best to conceal his jealousy. Sheamus was laying it on thick this time. Although I had to admit it was kind of nice to have somebody stand up for me who isn't a part of the McMahon family.
"Yes, I do actually. Thank you honey," I said with a smirk. "John, tonight was unacceptable. If you ever change the card without my approval again, we are going to have a problem. Also, if you have a problem with me and the way I do my job, come talk to me like a damn man. Don't run to the COO. It makes you look like a coward," I said with malice.
"I'll make a note of that, Ms. Steele…" he said very quietly as he headed out the door followed by Bertie and Ricardo.
"I uh….I appreciate you guys backing up my title win tonight," Dolph said formally as he extended his hand to Hunter who shook it.
"No problem, Ziggler. As far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure Kennedy would agree, you've earned it fair and square."
"Absolutely. We'll stand behind you as champion. Alberto himself has one the championship via post match cash in. He has no grounds to dispute the legitimacy of your reign," I said with a grin.
"Well, either way, I appreciate it. So thanks again."
"You're welcome, Champ," I cooed. Dolph nodded and headed for the door leaving Sheamus and I alone with Hunter…who didn't look very happy. "Who shit in your cheerios?"
"Sheamus, I love you man, but how dare you barge in here and demand answers from me. It made me look bad in front of Laurinitis."
"I'm sorry, Hunt, but I was not going to let Laurinitis call her a trollop who slept her way to the top when in fact we know that not to be true. The rumor exists because of you and you just let people slander her with it. I thought you'd be the man to stick up for the people dear to them," Sheamus pointed out. Hunter's look of anger immediately dispersed and was replaced with a look of guilt.
"You're right. I should have gotten involved. I'm sorry that I let him talk about you like that, Kennedy."
"It's okay, Hunter," I said softly.
"No, no it's really not. I love ya, Kid!"
"Love you too, Trips," I said with a smile.
"I'm going to head back to my office. I've got work to do."
"Alright, Dollface. See you tonight," Sheamus said releasing me.
"Bye, Kennedy!" the COO called out. "Oh, and Kennedy?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't know what kind of rivalry feud is going on between you and Laurinitis but keep that shit out of my office!" he commanded.
"Yes, sir," I said with a salute before heading out.
I made my way down the hallway trying to clear my head. I was so not prepared for such an explosive altercation. It definitely wasn't what I had expected when I was called down to Hunter's office. Not to mention that Bertie and Laurinitis were onto me tipping off Dolph. This could spell out trouble down the line.
I pulled out my cell and typed a message to Brad Maddox.
"Got called to the COO's office. Laurinitis told on me to Hunter. A little warning next time?!"
"Sorry. Just heard. I'll do better next time. I promise."
"You better! I'm counting on you Maddox!"
"I wont let you down!"
I slipped my phone back into my pocket and flung open my office door. I sat down exhausted. Thinking about the night. It had started out so well with Dolph's win and our office tryst. Some how it had taken a turn when I was otherwise occupied. My phone buzzed again. I picked it up and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Boots!"
"Oh hey, Papa. What's up?"
"I just wanted to be the one to tell you that your tour bus is finished a few days early!"
"That's wonderful! I can't wait to see it!"
"Well you won't have to wait very long! It's waiting for you in the parking lot!"
"Shut up!" I squealed.
" I will not shut up!" he joked. "A-Ry has the keys. I've already had him switch your things from your rental car to the bus. You should be all set once the show ends," he said proudly. He loved providing surprises for his kids and we loved receiving them.
"You are the best, Papa!"
"Oh, I know sweetheart. I'll see you when you get back to Connecticut!"
"Sounds great."
"Good. Have a good night."
"You too. Bye."
I hung up the phone and squealed with excitement. I couldn't wait to say goodbye to long drives in those rental cars.
The rest of the show went very uneventfully…especially in comparison to the other half of the night. I rested easy with no major issues to amend. Then my door opened to reveal my sneaky assistant.
"Hey A-Ry!"
"Hey Kennedy, I have something for you!" he said as he pulled out the bus keys.
"Thanks! I'm so excited."
"I can imagine. Your bus driver is already out there. His name is Bill." I grabbed the keys and eagerly snatched up my belongs.
"Bye, Alex! I'll see you later!" I shouted as I made a beeline for the parking lot.
Once there, I looked around and spotted my bus. It was black with some red accents. It looked pretty damn classy if I may say so. As I approached, I saw that the doorway was open. Without hesitation, I waltzed right up the stairs. I set my belongings down on the floor.
"Took you long enough," I heard a male voice say. I froze.
"What the fuck are you doing in here?" I asked seething.
Cliffhanger! Guess you'll have to read the next chapter to see who is paying Kennedy a visit…
