Chapter26

"Lucy, will you open the door?" the pink haired stood there in front of the blonde's door, hands in his pocket as he tried as much as he can to be calm and quiet. He waited for the blonde mage to open the door while standing beside his blue cat Happy who had that worried look in his eyes.

"Lucy" Happy called trying to ease on her by just calling her name. No one answering as they kept waiting and waiting. Suddenly Natsu sighed sitting down on the ladder that was in front of her house. Happy looked at him astounded of what he had just done.

"Okay" he said looking at the people's movement. "I know that you are sitting behind the door" he said raising his head to the sky looking how pure the sky was and how beautiful the birds that flew in it. "I will be staying here until you open the door, Lucy" he said putting his elbows on his knees.

"Natsu, we are really going to wait here?" asked the blue cat sitting down beside the dragon slayer. He looked at him with nervous confused look. He stopped understanding his friends who had known him along ago and stopped understanding in what he is thinking.

"Lucy needs someone with her" Natsu said simply not even looking at the blue cat. Natsu spaced out after telling the answer to the flying exceed. He started to think about those 5 years that passed. It was sure enough to make anyone die from suffering. But the pink haired were able to survive. In spite of the fact that he had felt weak, he had at least to act that he was fine. He sighed looking at the sky. He always wished he wouldn't care for something like that but he simply couldn't. He has endured a lot and he finally reached his limit.

Hours passed and the both were still sitting in their places not doing except staring at the people who were walking in the street. "Ne, Natsu" the blue cat called looking at the salamander.

"Hmm?"

"You said... that you are going to tell me later" Happy said.

"Tell you what?" Natsu answered without looking at him.

"Tell me... how did you change in this person and why are you always running away?" Happy asked glaring at Natsu. Running away.. yes Natsu was running away, he wasn't pretending to be strong he was only running away from reality. He spaced out again as he started to think about Happy's words.

"I-I don't know what you are talking about" Natsu said trying to avoid the question by looking to the other direction.

"Natsu, I'm not stupid" the blue cat stood on his legs looking at the pink haired's right side "What made you leave after becoming s-class mage? And why will you leave again?" he asked in a serious tone making the other's head snaps towards him. Natsu stared at him to find that serious eyes with the dead look. He sighed rubbing his hair while looking at the street. He finally decided to talk.

"I have been suffering for a 5 years already" Natsu finally said earning a wide eyes from the flying cat. "I.. I fell in love and I wasn't able to reach this person" Happy looked at his eyes to find he was staring at some people in the street. "How pathetic I was.. but, unfortunately those years I left the guild wasn't able to cure my deep injury"

"It kept bleeding and bleeding as I reached to a limit that I can sacrifice anything around me in order to just not feel the pain" Natsu looked at the sky. "I will do whatever I can to stop that bleeding"

"Natsu" Happy finally said as he felt that heavy burden on the salamander's shoulder. "W-who is that g-girl?"

Natsu paused as he kept silent looking at the street. "Lucy.." A shock hit the blue cat's heart as his eyes widened from being astonished.

"W-wha-" he tried to ask again in case that he didn't hear him well.

"That what happened five years ago, the day I'm become pathetic was the best day in Lucy's life" he said feeling his heart tighten "Seeing how happy she was prevented me to became irritated or jealous" he buried his face in his hands "That's why I left. To let her live her life to the fullest"

While Natsu was hugging his legs to his chest and looking at the pure blue sky, Happy was thinking of what the dragon slayer went through. He had endured the pain and the love without anyone knows it. He is superman.

Suddenly Happy found Natsu looking at him. "Happy, you have to go to the guild and tell everyone that we are back" he ordered the flying cat.

"But, Nats-" he wasn't able to complete his sentence when the dragon slayer cut him off.

"If that bastard didn't tell them that we came back then the guild will worry about us for being this late" and with that Happy nodded standing up and showing his wings to be ready to fly.

Natsu stared at the ground not focus in what's happening beside him. He just kept silent not even hearing the sound of people.

The pink haired was resting his head on the wall crossing his arms as his eyes were closed. He wasn't sleep but he simply tried to rest a little and clear his mind of what happened today. The pink haired's snapped open, he quickly looked at the right side to find a blonde standing in front of him crossing her arms and looking at the ground. "Come.. inside" she stated as she entered her house.

As the both were entering the pink haired kept staring at Lucy's back as he was silence not even making a single sound. The both sat, the blonde in the couch and the pink haired in the table's chair. Finally Lucy broke the silence "He wasn't the perfect one to me" she said as her tears slowly came down without any warning. Natsu looked at her not thinking of anything he just kept silent.

"He told me he was in love with me, he proposed me in front of everyone" she wiped her tears. "I should have known his true color since the first" she buried her face in her hands. "I'm so ridiculous"

Natsu looked down at the ground to realize that she stood up heading to where he sat. "Natsu" she sat on her knees looking at his face. Natsu grabbed his hands with her ones "You are the one to me" she smiled softly. "I know you better than I know him" she raised his hand to put it on her cheek "You will never cheat on and betray me" she looked at his eyes. Natsu's eyes widened as she looked at the blonde not believing what he was hearing. Was she really Lucy?!

"I'm sorry" she apologized "You loved me but you didn't get except pain" she said nearing her face to his. "I will do anything to make you happy again" Lucy was about to press their lips together when Natsu grabbed her shoulders and pushing her away from him. Her eyes widened when she found him like that. She looked at his eyes to see that dead serious and emotional eyes.

"Are you kidding me?" Natsu asked in anger shaking her. "Are you aware of what you are saying?!" he asked as her eyes kept widening. "You are not awake I can't be with someone that doesn't have a single emotion towards me!" he shook her from her shoulder. "You said that you made me suffer but with the words you are telling me are hurting me more" He paused looking at her eyes.

"You can't simply say something like that thinking that you are healing me, you are not healing me you just make my burden heavier!"
