...

"Inuyasha," Kagome said quietly, laying a hand upon his tense shoulders.

The half demon turned slightly to look at her; a sharp feeling of guilt plagued him for worrying her so.

"Can we go for a run, just like we used to?

Inuyasha was surprised. He thought she meant to nag and yell at him about the way he was acting; it was then that he took a good look at the girl who meant more to him than anything else in the world.

She had grown, matured into a beautiful woman. Where there had once stood a gangly girl who could not survive his world, there now stood a woman, more beautiful than his Kikyo had been, strong and powerful enough that she did not need anyone to rescue her anymore, and somehow she remained untainted from the horrors of his world.

He slumped.

I was a fool.

"Sure, wench. Set up camp, guys. We will be back in a bit."

As Kagome moved to get on Inuyasha's back, she felt a pulse of anger come from the demon lord. She turned to look at him and ask him what was wrong, and then she felt the triumphant aura of her friend and sighed.

"Yeah, be right back. There are some things I would like to talk to Inuyasha about something shouldn't take too long."

"Alright, Kagome," Sango replied.

"Yes, Kagome-sama, a chance to rest would be quite nice in this heat," Miroku said as his hand slowly made its way towards Sango's bottom.

Sesshomaru said nothing, his expression hardened as he stared at her and Inuyasha making it unreadable. Suddenly he flicked his hair before swiftly turning around to find a suitable place to rest.

Kagome sighed, unsure what his problem was, and climbed onto Inuyasha's back. "Let's go."
