She looked up at the landing and saw Cato and Kate. Even though her blurry vision she could still clearly make out what she saw.
They were kissing.
Clove never felt so betrayed in her entire life. There was the love of her life kissing her worst enemy. She didn't know weather to cry or punch his face. This was probably the reason she hadn't been able to find him for so long. He had been sneaking around kissing Kate. But instead of killing him right then and there she walked back to the party as if nothing happened, with a few tear sheds in her eyes.
When Clove awoke the next morning it took a few moments for last nights events to hit. But when it did it gave her a sick feeling to her stomach. She didn't know why he was kissing her. Maybe it was because he had to much to drink and didn't realize. But Clove had been with him for most of the night and he only took a few sips of this and that. He may of been buzzed but not enough that he didn't know what he was doing when he kissed Kate.
Which made things even worse. He was not drunk, but sober when he did which means he had no reason to blame his actions on the alcohol. And as Clove sat in her bed in her bedroom she didn't know how things could get much worse. Just then there was a stirring beside her. She looked down and it was none other than Cato himself.
He must have followed her to bed once she fell asleep last night. Playing both girls like a playboy. Douche.
"Hmm good morning" he said rolling over to shield his face away from the sun that came though her window. "What time is it?"
"Ten thirty" she said sharply.
"Wow" he said rubbing his eyes still in his his dress shirt from the party. "My head is killing me"
"Why?" she asked. "You didn't drink hardly anything at the party. You had a clear head for everything"
"I know" he said as she stood up from the bed to stretch. "But I still have a headache"
"Well can't help you there" she said with attitude as she stood up from her bed and slipped on a pair of yoga pants as she was just in a large shirt.
"Oh well" he said running a hand though his blonde hair. "I had a amazing sleep"
"Good for you" she said as she went over to her mirror to pull her messy hair into a pony tail. "I slept terrible"
"Aw I'm sorry" he said trying to be comforting, but she just shook it off. "Was something on your mind?"
"You could say that" she said as she walked into her attached bathroom to start wiping last nights makeup off her face, as Cato followed her.
"Was it something Kate or Carter did?"
"Ya something like that" she said as she finished cleaning her face and threw the wipe in her garbage can.
"Well what is it?" he said following her as she headed out of the bathroom and down the hall to go downstairs.
"Just leave it alone okay?" she said annoyed.
Cato stayed silent as he followed Clove down the stairs. All around the house people were sleeping. On the floors, couches and even some in the backyard.
"Alright" Clove said loudly as she started taping people with her foot to wake them up. "Its late enough, now you don't have to go home but you half to leave here" Some of them groaned and rolled over as they started to wake up and one by one people were dragging themselves out of her house. Clove started in the kitchen as she picked up empty bottles and plastic solo cups and started dumping them into trash bags.
"Here let me help" Cato offered as he stuck his hand out to take the bag of trash.
Clove turned away from him taking the trash bag. "I got it" she said as she went back to cleaning.
"Okay" he awkwardly. As he slowly backed away from her and went into the living room where he found Thresh and Peeta.
"Hey" Peeta groaned as he sat up from the couch. His blonde hair stuck up in tuffs all around his head and he had a green look to him. "I think I drank to much last night" he said one hand on his stomach and the other on his forehead.
"I second that" Thresh said not even opening his eyes. "The last half of the party was a complete blur"
"Does anybody know what's wrong with Clove?" Cato asked.
"What?" Questioned Thresh just barley opening his eyes.
"Clove" Cato said again. "She's acting weird ever since she woke up. It's like she's mad at me"
"Maybe she is" Peeta said running his eyes.
"I just don't understand why though" he said running a hand though his hair frustrated. "Did I do something last night?"
"I don't know, did you?" Questioned Peeta his eyebrows raised.
"No" Cato said nonchalantly. "So I don't know why she's mad"
"She's a girl dude" Thresh said finally sitting up from the couch. "She can made about everything and nothing at all. It comes with dating one. She will be fine in a couple of days"
"I really hope so" he said.
"Alright" Clove said as she walked into the living room looking frustrated. "You guys have to leave now"
"We do?" Thresh said.
"Yes I have stuff to do and think about" she said not looking Cato.
"Can I at least use your bathroom first?" he asked wobbling as he stood up.
"If its to throw up, then no. Go outside and do it" she said leaving the living room.
"God" Thresh said as she stumbled past Cato. "She is bitchy today"
"Hey can we talk?" Cato said as he ran to catch up to Clove as she went back to her bedroom.
"No. Why?" she said not turning to look at him.
"Whats wrong?" he asked as he followed her into her bedroom. He closed the door behind him so nobody downstairs would hear them if it got ugly.
"Nothing that concerns you" she said rolling her eyes at him.
"Did I do something wrong?" he asked.
"I don't know, why don't you tell me" she said her voice raising above normal. "Did something happen at the party that I don't know about?" she asked him giving him the chance to tell her.
Cato didn't say anything for a minute. She watched him waiting to see what he would say. "No" he said calmly. "Nothing happened"
"Get out of my house!" she yelled at him.
"Whats wrong!? What did I say?" he yelled back.
"See that's the problem" she said tears filling her eyes. "You didn't say what I wanted you to say. I saw you, kissing Kate last night at the party. And when I give you the chance admit to it, you lie to my face"
Cato was taken back at realizing she knew what had happened. He stuck his hands out in default as he tried to explain. "Let me explain" he protested.
"How could you?!" she yelled. "I loved you and I find you kissing another girl, one that you said you didn't like on my birthday" she said tears streaming down her face. "I trusted you and you betrayed me"
"Just let me explain please!" he begged.
"No" she said wiping the tears off of her face. "I don't want to see you ever again. Were done. Get out of my house" she said before she ran into the bathroom and locked the door. She pressed her back against the door and slid down to sit on her butt. She wrapped her arms around her legs and let herself sob.
Clove didn't know how long she sat there crying but when she finally did she opened the door and Cato was gone. She could also no longer hear noise coming from downstairs meaning everybody had probably left her house. Clove made her way down her staircase trying not to picture Kat and Cato kissing on it. When she arrived in the kitchen for water she found Glimmer sitting at her kitchen counter with Cloves laptop in front of her.
"Your still here?" Clove asked trying not to make her voice crack.
"Yep" she said scanning the computer screen. "I heard about what happened and it all didn't make sense until now"
"What?" Clove looked at her confused. "I have no idea what your taking about"
"Here come look at this" Glimmer said. Clove went around and stood beside Glimmer looking at her laptop screen. There was a online yearbook for freshman year from a school she had never heard of.
"Whats this for?" Clove asked.
"Well Cato kissing Kate was not unexpected" she said. "I did some digging and realized they both went to the same school though elementary and high school. Until grade ten when they both moved away and somehow ended up back at the same place. But look at this" she said as she clicked her way though some photos. Finally an image popped up on the screen. It had a caption that said 'cutest couple of grade ten' and under that caption was a photo of Cato and Kate kissing.
They used to date each other.
