Chapter 26

Destiny- Part 2

Third Person POV

"I activate Tuner Capture to special summon Hyper Synchron (Attack 1600/ Defense 800) from your graveyard to my side of the field in defense position," Jack declared.

"Stardust Dragon, attack Red Dragon Archfiend!" Yusei ordered.

"I activate Tuner's Mind! This returns Red Dragon Archfiend to my extra deck and revives Twin-Sword Marauder (Attack 1600/ Defense 1000) and Dark Tinker (Attack 1000/ Defense 1300) in defense position," Jack fought bringing Arch back to his winged-human self.

'I need to take Twin-Sword Marauder out or he'll be able to summon Red Dragon Archfiend all over again,' Yusei thought. "Stardust Dragon, attack his Twin-Sword Marauder!"

"I activate the second effect of Tuner's Mind. This redirects the attack to Dark Tinker," Jack fought on.

"I activate the effect of Synchro Blast dealing you 500 points of damage," Yusei declared. Jack took the hit dropping his life points down to 2300.

"And due to Dark Tinker's effect, I can draw one card," Jack added doing so.

"I end my turn," Yusei declared.

"Well then, I tune Twin-Sword Marauder with Hyper Synchron. You saw this coming, didn't you, Yusei?" Jack asked and Yusei glared but stayed silent. "I synchro summon, Red Dragon Archfiend (Attack 3000/ Defense 2000), one more time!" Arch returned to his dragon form and Jayla watched tense as Arch gave a soft, worried grunt.

"I know. She's coming soon," Jayla responded.

'She still doesn't know…' Arch thought hiding his reason for his true worry.

"And thanks to Hyper Synchron's effect Red Dragon Archfiend gains 800 attack points (Red Dragon Archfiend: Attack 3800) and thanks to your monster, can't be destroyed by battle," Jack informed. "Now, Red Dragon Archfiend, attack Stardust Dragon!" Arch reluctantly followed and attacked Jayla who muffled a cry of pain.

"Are you alright, Star?" Arch asked.

"I'm fine, Arch. You don't have to worry so much," Jayla replied. "Let's… just focus on the duel." Arch gave a subtle nod of agreement before returning his attention to the Signers.

"Next I play, Fiend Cannon! This inflicts 500 points of damage to you since my monster didn't destroyed one of your monsters," Jack declared. Yusei's life points dropped to 900.

As the two dragons finished the attack, red streams of light crashed down from the sky. "Here it comes!" Jack exclaimed.

"The Crimson Dragon!" Yusei added and the lights quickly took form of the Crimson Dragon. The dragon flew around a bit.

"Crimson Dragon, welcome to my arena!" Jack called.

"Jack, we need to stop this duel right now! We still don't know much on the Crimson Dragon. We don't know what could happen," Yusei called.

"Are you scared?" Jack asked. "Someone who fears what is laid before them is not fit to be called a duelist. If all creation scatters to pieces, I will continue the duel!"

The Crimson Dragon soared above the stadium, spreading its wings out fully. A bright light engulfed all of them and it wasn't long before Jack and Yusei found themselves riding on a stream of light in a strange, starlit setting.

Yusei and the others looked around while Jayla and Arch just stared each other as Jayla's mind was being taken by the true answer to Arch's concern for her. 'M-My destiny with him… Arch…' Jayla thought.

They approached a temple where an abundance of people were bowing before five others at the temple. The stream of light, directed them upwards and over the temple.

"These must be the People of the Stars," Jack noted.

"What're they doing here?" Yusei wondered. He looked closer at the five on the temple and saw the marks on their arms. "Jack, they all have marks! They're all Signers!"

"Like us! Goodwin told me about these people. He said somehow we're all linked to the Crimson Dragon," Jack responded.

They continued to travel along the stream until they saw New Domino City and the Satellite beneath them. Suddenly, a blaze of purple fire smashed through a number of buildings drawing a shape of a large spider.

"This can't be happening! We have to stop it!" Yusei responded.

"This can't be real. It must be the future," Jack responded.

"Well, if this is the future, then we have to stop this duel right now. We gotta get home," Yusei stated.

"We will. Once we finish this," Jack responded.

"What?!" Yusei exclaimed.

"Think about it, Yusei," Jack replied, "dueling brought us here and dueling is going to bring us back! And whoever wins will show the Crimson Dragon who deserves the power to save the world, and I'm going to be that person. I set two face downs and end my turn."

"You're nuts!" Yusei exclaimed drawing his card. "But if you want to keep dueling, you'll get more than you bargained for." Jayla's dragon form was engulfed in a tornado of wind. "I just activated Silver Contrails which increases the attack of any wind monster on my field by 1000 during this turn's battle phase. And guess what my mighty beast is (Stardust Dragon: Attack 4300)? Stardust Dragon, attack Red Dragon Archfiend!" Though Red Dragon Archfiend wasn't destroyed due to Hyper Synchron's effect, Jack still took the damage dropping him to 1800 life points.

Jack groaned in pain but he felt it lighten and looked at Arch who was staring at him. He shook his head and focused. 'That attack… I could feel it, like it was real. Guess the Crimson Dragon wants us to play for keeps. Well that's just fine by me,' he thought. He turned back to the duel. "And you thought I had short memory. Since Hyper Synchron helped both our dragons out neither one can be destroyed by battle. And because it's the end of the battle phase, Stardust Dragon's attack returns to 3300 points."

"I set three face downs and end my turn," Yusei declared.

Jack drew his card. "Red Dragon Archfiend, attack Stardust Dragon!" he ordered. The attack hit and knocked Yusei's life points down to 400, though Stardust Dragon wasn't destroyed.

Yusei groaned in pain from the attack and he was relieved to feel Jayla help a bit. "What was that? I could feel his attack," Yusei wondered.

"That's right, Yusei! This duel is winner-takes-all!" Jack responded.

"Jack, the damage we take in this duel is real," Yusei reminded.

"That's right. And now you'll see what it is like to duel with more than just your life points on the line," Jack stated.

"You don't know if that's true but if it is, then I plan on defending myself," Yusei responded. "I activate Crossline Counter! When I take battle damage, I can double it and add it as attack points (Stardust Dragon: Attack 4300) and now my dragon gets to attack you!"

"Well, what're you waiting for?" Jack taunted.

"Stardust Dragon, let's not keep him waiting any longer!" Yusei ordered. Jayla reluctantly attacked. Though Red Dragon Archfiend wasn't destroyed, Jack still took another beating as his life points fell to 800 and he felt pain but he could tell that Arch was keeping it down.

"I activate the Speed Spell- Overboost! This gives me four extra speed counters this round, nearly maxing me out," Jack declared as he took off like a rocket and his speed counters increased to 11.

"With that kind of power, there's no telling what he'll play next," Yusei muttered.

"That's right. And now it's time for me to play one of my favorites. I play Speed Spell- End of the Storm! And with this card, I can finally put you in your place. And since first place will be all mine, you'll just have to settle for second," Jack responded.

"I'm not settling for anything Jack. And that's because Stardust Dragon's ability can counter your End of the Storm," Yusei retorted.

"Perhaps, but at what cost? But look! That ability only works if you sacrifice Stardust, leaving you wide open. Meaning it's the perfect time for me to activate my favorite trap, Sneak Exploder!" Jack declared. "Now on my next standby phase, you take five hundred points of damage for each monster on my field. And since I have 1, your life points don't stand a chance."

"Then I better keep this round going. So I activate Stardust Dragon's special ability, and bring him back to the field. And then I'll activate Meteor Stream!" Yusei declared. "This deals 1000 points of damage to you when I resummon a monster that was released during the same turn. Stardust Dragon, end this now!" Jayla went for the attack, releasing meteors that were surroundings her dragon body at Jack.

"That's just what I was waiting for!" Jack exclaimed.

"What?" Yusei said shocked.

"There's a reason I'm number one. I'm destined for great things, while all you're destined for is defeat. This adventure's over. I play Crimson Fire! Not only does it block your trap's effect, but it sends it right back to you, and doubles the damage. Goodbye, Yusei!" Jack exclaimed.

"Sorry, Jack, but I play my trap, Shining Silver Force. This douses your comeback and destroys all the traps and spells on your field!" Yusei returned.

Jack growled. "You're still as annoying as ever."

"I never was one to give up, and with your speed counters about to run out of gas, I don't plan on starting anytime soon," Yusei said. Jack started to lose control of his speed and he started to slow down. This allowed Yusei to pass him with ease. "How's the new view?" Yusei asked as both of them glared at each other before Yusei sped off. "See ya, Jack! Time to get us home! I play my trap, Final Attack! And since I have eight speed counters, the attack of my Stardust Dragon is doubled!"

"5000!? It's too powerful!" Jack exclaimed.

"I don't want to hurt you, Jack. But if ending the duel is the only way to get home, then I gotta attack. Stardust Dragon, take out his life points!" Yusei exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, Arch," Jayla responded. She used Cosmic Flare to end both Red Dragon Archfiend and Jack's life points.

"You're fine, Star," Arch responded before a bright light engulfed both of them and they arrived back in reality.

Jack's runner began to spin out of control and tossed him off. Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend were still present for a moment, but petrified, but their holograms however soon fizzle a bit before disappearing.

Jayla looked at Arch in their human, yet invisible to everyone else, in shock as she thought about what she saw. "Was that really…? Are we really meant to be…?" she couldn't finish any of her questions to Arch but he gave a small grin with a nod.

Yusei rushed over to Jack. "Are you alright?" Yusei asked.

"I don't know how you did it but you're the champ now, Yusei," Jack replied looking at him weakly.

"If what we saw in that vision was true, then none of this matters. The world and both our homes are in danger and we need to work together to stop it," he responded.

"You've always wanted to be the hero. Now's your chance," Jack responded before he passed out.

A stretcher was pulled up and Yusei asked, "Will he be alright?"

"Mr. Atlas will be fine. We just have to run him through some routine tests," a medic answered before driving away with Arch following beside Jack.

'Jack, what did we see in that light?' Yusei thought.

"Hey, Satellite, how'd you do it?" called a member of the crowd.

"We know you cheated!" called another.

"Get out of here!" yelled a man.

"You think you're one of us now? Well, you're not," stated another.

"Yusei!" Leo called and he turned as Tanner, Yanagi, and Leo rushed.

"Are you guys alright?" Yusei asked.

"We're fine but you're about to face a brand new enemy," Yanagi responded and pointed toward the large crowd of reporters who were being held back by a gate. "The media!"

The reporters broke into the area and Leo exclaimed, "They're loose!"

Yusei stepped back and Jayla appeared before quickly pulling Yusei along following Tanner and the two others.
