(Summary)
The Third immortal has been unleashed on the beach of Tenrou Island but is quickly sent to an unknown area far away. Meanwhile at Tenrou all remaining guilds, dark guilds, magic squads and the imperial armed forces have gathered to create a force against the armies of the Third. Erza and a number of soldiers were sent out on their first recon/ambush mission only to face a crushing defeat. All the while Natsu has been stuck in an unknown space and taunted by the ghost of Lucy.

(Tenrou beaches)

A loud bell began ringing from a watch tower on the beaches of Tenrou island where the watchman could see the sails of their ships approaching in the distance "THEY'RE HERE!" He cried out to the men and women below "GET THE MEDICS READY!"

Tenrou sprang into action to prepare for the incoming allies as they finally return from their battle. However, what the watchman failed to point out is that there was a ship missing from the small fleet.

The ships lay anchor off the pier and began securing the gangway where stretchers were given priority and rushed to the mainland. Most of the people on the stretchers were magical soldiers from the Imperial Army and Navy. Erza followed soon after she had gathered her things from the boat and jumped straight from the bow to the pier, bypassing the gangway que.

Her brisk step and shadowed face allowed her to slip through the crowd without being interrupted as she made straight for the hut where the leaders of several guilds and generals were. With a large motion she threw the door open and stared down the older men and women in the room.

"We were crushed. We never stood a chance." She said but Makarov could hear the pain in her voice, to which he quickly walked up and embraced the taller warrioress in a calming hug. "Don't fret my dear, we will find time to discuss this once everyone has been tended to. In the meantime, I will call anyone whom you think deserves to hear about what happened." He reassured her

"Call Mika and the members of Fairy Tail who knew Natsu. I think there's something bigger happening with him and I don't believe he is dead." And with that she slowly moved from her Masters embrace and left the hut, making for her quarters.

When she arrived Erza dumped her bag of things and slumped into her bed, laying her face straight down on the pillow and letting a muffled cry out. 'They trusted me and I failed them. If not for that strange event with the lightning everyone would be dead' The words of the soldiers that were trapped on the other side of the barrier stuck in her mind. She remembered the young woman killing her friends out of mercy and then ending her own suffering. 'MAKE OUR DEATHS MEAN SOMETHING!' and by god, Erza would do that. They would not be in vain.

(With Natsu)

Ever since the events a few days ago, Natsu had been all alone. Lucy disappeared moments after he attacked and never returned. His power was completely restored but no matter how hard he tried he could not escape the cage around him. He brought it to white hot and it never budged. He tried freezing it but it wouldn't crack. He tried destroying the ground around him but nothing ever worked.

With nothing to do and no one to talk to he grew bored very easily, but most of all he was worried that his last act on the Tenrou beach had failed. You see, as the Third began to take over Natsu's body by flooding it with his own magic power, Natsu felt light headed and hollow. As if his soul was being ripped from his body, which is exactly what happened to the Third on his last defeat. He was trapped inside of the Katana and Bracer that he used to wield.

"Man, that feels like years ago that happened." He sighed, laying down on the floor of his blank space and staring at the blank ceiling above him.

In a last ditch effort to fight the Third for control, he expelled every ounce of magic he had and tried to do exactly what the Third had done previously. He tried to trap fragments of himself inside the things that meant the most to him and they were all standing on that beach.

"When the Third was reborn he needed the three fragments to join together and form his whole self. With the sword, the bracer and the fragment inside me. That's how he came back. If what he said is true, and that he and I are the same people then there's no reason that I can't do that too, right?" He asked the cage around him. Not that it would answer, but talking to the only inanimate object there was better than talking to nothing.

And that right there was when Natsu had a moment of realisation. "The Third and I are the same people!" He jumped up in excitement, rattling his brain harder than ever to try and recall the information he needed. "So Mavis, the first immortal. She's the essence of life. And Zeref is the essence of Death, and he's the second Immortal. And the Third was one that could be replaced but they first started out as Mother nature! The Third is the essence of nature!"

He paused

"What the fuck does that mean?!" He smashed his palms into his temples as he fell back first onto the ground "Like, does that mean I'm in nature? Am I just stuck in the middle of bumfuck nowhere? No it can't be. I'll just be stuck in some dumb portal or weird magic realm." This was beginning to hurt his simple mind. Like a young brat without his toy Natsu started kicking his heels into the indestructible ground.

"I need to get out of this cage and check this place out! Fucking hell, I wish it would just go away!" He yelled in frustration as he clenched his eyes closed and continued to rage away on the ground at his inability to figure this out. With a sigh of defeat, he stopped moving and slowly opened his eyes only to find no cage around him.

He bolted upright and scanned around him. Same place but no cage… "What?" he breathed out. Natsu stood up to his full height and immediately he felt different. His body felt warm and cosy, as though he were wrapped in the best blanket ever invented.

For the first time in a long time he was comfortable, likely from being out of that cage. "Thank god for that! Now, let's find out where I am!" He quickly pointed his finger in a random direction and set off as fast as he could, running into nothingness, from nothingness. If it wasn't for his legs moving he wouldn't know he was moving. There was no breeze, no sound of his feet hitting the floor. But he pressed on and on and on. For how long? He didn't know. This place didn't seem to have any concept of time at all. No day or night. He also never felt the need to sleep because he was never tired.

Eventually Natsu ground to a halt out of sheer boredom and lack of belief that there was anything here besides him. It was hard to get the Dragon Slayer to feel hopeless, most would call it an impossibility, but this time he was truly without hope.

He raised a fist to the sky and set the hand ablaze, leaving it to burn at a steady pace. He then closed his eyes and focused hard on forming a small barrier of lightning around his body, giving him a slight jolt to keep his awareness up and finally he called upon his newest magic and held his other hand out in front of him and formed a small ring of ice that he propped up by venting cold air through his hand.

"All this power and I can't do anything. I learned so much from those scrolls. I had several lacrima infused with my body and I still can't do anything!" He screamed out in frustration, spiking all three forms of his magic from his body. His power remained at the higher output as he continued on

"All my old friends from Fairy Tail that I betrayed, all my new friends that stuck by my side with The Fraternity- "He drew a deep breath as he felt his heart turn to stone "-and Mika. I have to help them all god dammit!" A bead of sweat formed on Natsu's brow as he pushed his magic further. At this point the fire in his hand was streaming upwards like a tower. His lightning was arcing to everything around him in a 15-meter radius and the small ring of ice was now flailing in his hand like an arctic tornado ripping through the air. The area around him lost its clear white colour and began to go a dull grey, as though his magic were poising it. Magic fuelled by something new to Natsu. Despair

(At Tenrou)

Tenrou was still in full swing several hours after the arrival of the troops but Erza was yet to leave her room. Master Makarov was getting backed up to the point that the debrief was actually yet to be arranged, so she remained alone until a knock at her door caused her to stir.

"Hey Red, it's me, Homura. Can I come in I've got something to tell ya?" Erza recognized the voice. It was the shadow mage from the dark guild that was with her on the mission. She honestly didn't know what happened to him since he had been totally absent during the return trip.

"Come in." She answered, sitting upright and fixing her posture. She did her best to look composed when he entered and it seemed to work as he slowly closed the door behind him, being cautious not to make an awful lot of sound.

Homura sat down on a small chair in her quarters and looked into his hands. "Listen, Erza I did something a bit dumb and I need your advice on what to do next. I'll be blunt about it. Do you remember us being told to capture a sample of the fire the enemy used? Well I went a step above it and actually captured one of em'. It's sitting inside my shadow right now and has been since the battle."

Erza's frown was enough to tell him that it was a poor choice. "You brought an enemy directly into our base of operations? Past all our defences and straight to our leaders. Have you any idea how foolish that was?!" She scolded him, thumping her hand into his forehead.

"Hey I- "He was cut off as a loud cry from outside bellowed through the air.

"TIE UP THE SHIPS AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND EVACUATE, EVERYONE GET INSIDE!" The duty supervisor yelled to the dock workers.

Erza stood up and walked to her small window where the blue skies from a few hours ago were totally gone and instead there were huge grey clouds as far as the eye could see and it almost looked alive with the way it moved and rocked through the skies above. "Where did this come from?" She said in disbelief and just then a massive fork of lightning struck the top of the Tenrou tree with a deafening boom.

Erza rushed from her room and made straight for the Master, with Homura in tow. As she ran through the massive camp and blistering wind caught her from behind and pushed her off her feet faster than she could realise, the same goes for Homura.

"This weather, is it an attack?!" She questioned. It was too ferocious to be natural and it had to have been influenced by something with insane power. Erza spotted the Master a few meters away and struggled towards him until another fork of lightning split the skies and tore through one of their command ships, reducing it to splinters and ash that peppered Erza.

"MASTER! WHAT IS GOING ON?!" She yelled to him, just hoping he would have any information on what had happened or how this storm appeared out of nowhere.

Makarov turned to Erza and outstretched one of his elongated arms to pull her towards him but not without difficulty. "Erza my dear! We need to help get these people to safety immediately!" He commanded, ignoring her question as he simply didn't have an answer to it.

The pair felt a light rumble in the ground that began to grow stronger and stronger until they could feel the ground start to physically rupture until, out of one of the volcanic vents on the ocean floor, a breath-taking pillar of steam and fire erupted from it like a jet. The rising steam seemed to effortlessly clear the skies of all previous weather and gave everyone on Tenrou a clear look at it. The fire, it wasn't some red hot product of lava, or molten pieces of sand being launched into the air. It was the beautiful orange flames of a dear friend.

"NATSU?!" Makarov yelled as he gazed upon the diminishing spectacle before him. "I'd recognize those flames anywhere! It has to be him!" He yelled again

Shortly afterwards the area was calm. Almost eerily so. The enormous blast had cleared the sky and disrupted the storm until it completely disappeared and now, the one question that everyone was asking.

"Where is Natsu?"

A/N: Here we go ya'll! This one was never going to be brilliant because of how much I had going on in this story before I stopped so I did the best I could to bring a few of the more important information to the surface. Anyways I'm not going to be starting the Next chapter of Natsu Deathbringer for a few days' cause today is my Birthday and I'm not expecting to see much of tomorrow either so yeah, hope you all have a good one and I'll see ya later!
