Naruto had grabbed the blade as it cleaved through half his torso. Naruto snarled as Julius head-butted him and ripped the sword out as Naruto stumbled back as his blood was flowing. Julius snap kicked Naruto in the jaw as the Nephilim flew off the edge and landed on a rocky outcropping over the molten river. Julius just watched as Naruto struggled to get up but passed out from the pain. The elder Belmont simply flicked his sword as the blood flew off it and sheathed the weapon as he let the molten river take him someplace else. The scene was paused as Lucifer saw Nyx raise her hand.
"Yes, little girl?" he asked in slight annoyance.
"Why is grandpa in hell? What has he done to warrant his imprisonment?" she asked as Yasha answered.
"Julius found out about the threat to his family and decided to take action, so he sided with Lucifer. Running into the Nephilim was only a minor setback. No more interruptions from now on." The god said as he snapped his fingers and the scene began playing again.
"Ugh, shit hurts worse than that time Akua kicked me in the dick and through a wall." Naruto muttered in pain as his wound healed up and sat up as he looked around.
"Now where did that old fart go?" Naruto asked as he stood up and resumed his journey. He felt something starting to grow out of the palm of his left hand and took off his glove. Sticking out of the palm of his hand was a small metal shard, as his Nephilim aura was coming off it. Naruto also felt that something was inside his arm, curious, he pressed down on his wrist with his other hand as the metal shard, which was a lot longer than he anticipated, shot out and embedded into the boulder in front of him. Naruto looked at the sword that jettisoned out of his body as he pulled it out. It looked like a simple katana, the hilt was made from solid bone with a simple design of a dragon etched into it. The blade itself was metal and polished to a mirror sheen. He also noticed that there was no tsuba on it. He shrugged and placed it through a belt loop on his pants as he continued along his way. He eventually found the exit as the two ghost appeared again.
"You look like you've seen a ghost." Virgil said as Naruto rolled his eyes.
"Very funny, bookworm. What's in store for me below?" Naruto asked as he stood on the elevator and looked to them.
"The next circle is Anger, those who have let their anger and hate consume their lives are now denizens of the black marsh that flows through it." Deante said as Naruto guessed that the place was a giant lake.
"Another thing I want to inform you, your new weapon is the most powerful in your arsenal. It is your soul personified into a weapon that fits you most. You will need it in the upcoming battles ahead. We wish you luck and safe passage as you venture through." The scholar/warrior said as both ghosts disappeared. Naruto shrugged his shoulders and pulled the lever as he went down. He made it to the fifth circle and soon arrived at the black river/marsh. Without pause he stepped on the 'raft' as it began to move. Naruto noticed the other side was quite a distance away and the fact that the raft was moving slow, he sighed in annoyance.
"This is going to take fucking forever." He said in slight anger as he sat down and brought out his guitar as he was playing a tune as the raft ride was going to take a while. Eventually the ride came to an end as Naruto out his guitar away and got up.
"Finally." He muttered, that when the 'raft' started to rise as it was actually a large demon/fallen demigod. Phlegyas growled as Naruto jumped off him and landed on a nearby platform. Immediately the demon began attacking Naruto as the young adult was dodging and egging him on to the bridge leading to the city of Dis. Once the demon was in place, Naruto brought out Rebellion as it switched to the Ophion angel whip and quickly pulled himself to Phlegyas' head/crown as he took his soul weapon and planted it in as he took control and rode the demon as they made their way into the damned city. Eventually the floor underneath the two began to collapse as Naruto jumped off as the demon fell to his doom, roaring in anger. Naruto just dusted his coat as he continued, taking in the sights and sounds of the damned as he came across new demons along the way.
"Hello, what's this?" Naruto said as he saw a statue of an old bald man with a big goatee clad in a robe. Naruto approached the statue and examined it. He felt a large source of holy energy coming at him from behind and flipped to the side as a large beam/flash of holy light obliterated the statue. Naruto looked at the remains and shrugged.
"Seems like people upstairs don't like me either." Naruto mused as he got out of the city and into the next circle. Naruto felt as if he was unleashing something big every time he destroyed the large chains that impeded his path, but pushed those thoughts back. The Nephilim landed on the incline leading to a river of boiling blood and walked over to the two that have been giving him helpful advice during this journey.
"So, what's with the lake of blood?" he asked as he pointed to it.
"In this circle those who have committed acts of violence are placed here, the circle itself is split into three parts. Violence against man, violence against thyself and violence against god." Virgil said as he watched Naruto's brows furrow at his words.
"And what is this, 'violence against god'?" Naruto asked with a slight tone of mockery. Virgil and Dante glanced to one another before Dante answered.
"Violence against god is when those who have acted under the belief of the 'false deities'. God himself sees them as beyond redemption and has them sent to the Abominable Sands as their punishment for not following his word and siding with those of 'lesser rank'." Dante said as Naruto's face showed anger.
"So let me get this straight, this whole place, all the circles and damned who arrive, are all sent here because they simply didn't follow the big bald guy in the clouds. Who, from the way he sounds, wants everyone to follow his rules and those that show the slightest amount of independence, are sent here to suffer for their 'sins'. Tell me, which sounds more fucked up, living free without any gods to command and control every aspect of one's life, or letting the big guy throw you to the wolves if you find some of his commands strange?" Naruto asked the two as he paced back and forth in front of the two. Dante and Virgil were rendered speechless as Naruto raised a valid point, why is it that God was to be seen as the one and only god as all others were considered inferior? Naruto just left them to their devices as he walked down the incline.
"If you need me, I'll be heading lower until I can get some answers as to why I'm here." He said as he made his way across the river of blood and through the suicide woods. He arrived to the end of the woods as he looked out to the Abominable Sands.
"Go back. As your friend, Dante, I'm telling you. You're not ready for this…" Lucifer's voice echoed out throughout the burning wasteland.
"Like that's going to convince me, Lucy. Let's see what else you can throw at me?" Naruto replied as he smirked.
"Ah, Dante, my friend… you're always so persistent." Lucifer said as Naruto started walking into the sandy wasteland.
"You might find that you just… can't go on. He-he-he." Lucifer said as Naruto continued through the desert, putting up his hoodie to cover from the blowing winds. Menma was curious about what could be Lucifer's reason for taking an interest in his brother as he continued to watch. Naruto climbed up the remains of stone tower as he noticed something odd about the burning iron maiden hanging above it. He heard the faint sounds of a woman moaning in pain and investigated. He took the lock off with his sword as it burst open and a woman fell out and conveniently onto him as both hit the floor. The woman was slowly healing and barely conscious. Naruto was about to ask who she was when he felt a pair of fangs sink into his neck as she started feeding. Naruto just sighed as he poked her in the ribs, hard.
"Ow, what the hell was that for." She demanded as she rubbed her side.
"While it is nice to have a beautiful, nude woman such as yourself on me biting my neck, I think you should ask if you're thirsty." Naruto said as he laid his hands behind his head with a smirk. The woman got up and realized she was nude. She quickly dished out a tiger palm strike that broke Naruto's nose as she attempted to cover up and looked around as she got off him.
"How dare you look at me when I'm naked." She hissed in anger as Naruto held his broken nose.
"Fucking hell, what's your issue?" Naruto groaned as he got up and his nose healed up. He noticed a small compartment on the back of the iron maiden and opened it as he handed the clothes and weapons inside to her. The woman head the decency to look embarrassed as she realized he broke her out of the torture device she was stuck in. he turned around as she put her clothes on and told him he could look. He let out a low whistle as she looked sexier in the leather get-up as her weapons only added to her sex appeal.
"May I please know the name of the young man who freed me from my imprisonment?" she asked as she folded her arms. Naruto just gave a mock bow and replied.
"My name is Dante Alighieri, and what of yours?" he asked with humor. The woman gave a smile of her own and replied.
"Rayne, now here's the big question, how do you know my daughter?" she had a small glare at him as Naruto gave a deadpanned expression.
"Let me guess, you read some of my memories when you consumed my blood?" he asked in a bored tone, she nodded and he shrugged.
"She's an old friend really. Let's just leave it at that." He said as Rayne agreed and the two began walking in a direction.
"So, Dante, how did you end up here?" Rayne asked as she glanced at him. Naruto was silent at first but answered anyway.
"I don't really know why, but it seems big old Lucy has taken an interest to me and wants to keep me around." Naruto replied as Rayne stifled a giggle at the nickname Naruto had for the Devil.
"What about you, how'd a classy lady like yourself end up in the burning desert?" Naruto asked as Rayne looked depressed for a moment before replying.
"I don't know why. Maybe it was the fact that I was not human, the fact that I fought corrupt priests who hid under the façade of the church during my many battles, or maybe it was because I died and left my little girl with that asshole of a husband." She said as a couple tears flowed down her cheeks. Naruto placed a hand on her shoulder and replied.
"Hey, don't beat yourself up about something you had no control over, she wouldn't want you to either. If I remember correctly, she was an energetic one, if a little shy." He said as Rayne wiped away a tear. Rayne was about to ask more about Akua when a horde of demons surrounded them.
"Hey, want to play a game? Naruto asked as they were back to back.
"Sounds interesting, what did you have in mind?" she asked as she had her arm blades and blood-guns ready.
"First one to kill 100 demons gets the bag of O- blood I have in my coat." He said as Rayne smirked.
"You're on, young man." She replied as they both went on the offensive and started moving down the demons. Both Vampire and Nephilim were having a blast as they tore through the denizens of hell and Rayne found Naruto to be a good partner when it came to coordinating attacks and having her back covered. Soon they took the last demons down as Naruto smirked as he had Rebellion in one hand and his soul weapon in the other.
"Looks like I win." Naruto said as he gave her a dashing smirk. Rayne returned one of her own as she sat down on a rock but was surprised when the blood bag landed on her lap.
"Keep it, looks like you needed it more than I do." Naruto said as she opened the bag and drank its contents. She finished as Naruto took off his glove on his right hand and looked to her.
"Ready to get out of here?" he asked as she raised an eyebrow but noticed that the marking on his hand was glowing. Realizing that he was going to free her from the clutches of hell, she nodded.
"Despite our short time knowing one another, I can tell that you would make a wonderful friend for my daughter. But before I go, may I have another sip of your unique blood?" she asked with puppy dog eyes as Naruto shrugged and tilted his head to reveal his neck. Rayne took advantage and bit down as she hugged him and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"Whoah there, if you wanted to get things started you just have to ask." Naruto said as Rayne bit down a bit harder at that. She soon finished and got off him as she stood back. Naruto rubbed where she bit him and held out his right hand as she took it and placed it over her heart as she smiled.
"Make sure my daughter is safe, fishcake." She said as she floated into the light above her and vanished. Naruto noticed an ornamental wooden box in her place with a note that had Akua's name on it.
"Must want me to give this to her." Naruto said as he picked up the box/case and placed it in his coat as he started walking in the direction he felt a large demon's presence. Akua noted that her mother left the case she would eventually receive in 'Dante's' hands, does that mean he was the one who freed Jasmine and the others that night?
(Inside a fleshy prison mixed with metal)
Kat was still trying to figure out how exactly she deserved this, she was chained to the inside of what looked like the intestinal tract of a large creature and forced to endure electric shocks that coursed through her body at random intervals. But, there was some light in this situation, she got to meet Naruto and Menma's parents, though their dad was in the form of a wolf and their mom was in the form of a large crow. Oh and there were these other two that went by the names of Sparda and Eva.
"How long do we have to deal with this?" Cereza asked with a pained tone, she was pinned to the fleshy wall as large pikes impaled her and stuck her to the wall, Soma was in a similar situation.
"I don't know, but hopefully someone could come to help us." Eva said as she tried to get comfortable with her bindings. Sparda then sensed something as he raised his head.
"Do you all feel that?" he asked as this got the other's attention.
"What is it, Sparda?" Soma asked as he looked to the demon knight.
"I can sense a familiar presence, like a mixture of you two." He said as Cereza's eyes widened.
"That means one of our sons is in this place?" but what are they doing here?" She asked her husband. The little group heard Naruto yelling from the outside at the demon that held them.
(With Naruto)
"Hey, asshole, watch where you're swinging that." Naruto said as he looked up at the titanic demon. It looked humanoid, but looks can be deceiving. It looked like a horrific combination of flesh and metal. Its form resembled that of a giant armored man/beast thing. It had multiple arms, some smaller and others bigger. Several large sections of its body were composed of metal and machinery. However Naruto wasn't focused on that, but rather the familiar presence he could feel coming from inside the large demon. The demon paused its walk and turned as it noticed Naruto and leaned in.
"Well this is a surprise, the legendary elder Nephilim son here before me. It seems that both the heavens and hell are smiling upon me. But first I want to let you hear something." The demon said as it rose up and shuddered and Naruto watched as electricity and power surged through its body. But that's not what caught his attention.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Naruto heard a familiar voice and knew who exactly it was.
"Shit! KAT!" He yelled as he charged at the demon, the demon growled as it moved back and away as Naruto followed it across the dunes. The Nephilim brought out the Claws of Hades as he latched onto the demon's hide and pulled himself onto it as it lumbered across the desert and attempted to shake him off. Naruto put away the claws as he grabbed his soul weapon and stabbed down right on the base of the neck. This caused the demon to roar out in pain as it collapsed forward as Naruto jumped off it and turned around. The demon snarled at the Nephilim as it tried to crush and hit him with its many hands, but he always dodged, blocked or destroyed them when they got close to him. The demon got up as it punched at him again, but Naruto wasn't aware of the other hand that came from behind as it grabbed him.
"Now you will be my meal." The demon said as it chortled in glee. However it was not prepared for Naruto to unleash his angel mode as the Nephilim released a burst of energy that caused the hand holding him to wither into ash. The demon freaked out as Naruto shot forward in a burst of speed and used one of his sickle-shotels' to act as a fishing hook as he stuck it into its lower jaw and threw the demon onto the ground with little effort. The demon looked around to see its opponent, but was caught off guard as Naruto appeared in front of it and with a swipe, destroyed its eyes. The demon howled in pain as it started firing off energy spheres in random directions as it let out a stream of insults and curses. Naruto just returned to his normal form and folded his arms as he watched the demon thrashed about.
"Damn you and your kind, half breed. I was overjoyed when I took part of the mass extermination that wiped out your race. I will not fail my master and will devour your soul, just as I did with your parents." It growled out as the last part got a reaction out of Naruto as he summoned the Barbarian Hammer and lunged in and smashed the weapon against its leg. The demon howled in pain as Naruto destroyed its lower legs and was brought to its knees. Naruto switched to the Aquila as he sliced off the limbs attacking him. The demon was desperate to destroy the Nephilim and began gathering its energy to release a shockwave of power, but was distracted as Naruto brought out the Blade of Olympus and literally blew a hole the size of a minivan through its torso as he jumped onto its back and stabbed the sword in as it was crackling with energy. Naruto hopped off it as it fell down face first and tried to get up.
"Now then, let's see how your soul will taste." Naruto said as put away the divine blades and brought out the Claws of Hades again. Naruto launched them forward as they embedded into the demons collar and he started pulling as the demon's soul was starting to come out.
"I will not be defeated by you, I… will not… fail." The demon managed to get out as it roared and sent lightning and fire through the chains connected to the hooks as they hit Naruto as they gave him a painful experience in hopes that he'll let go, but the Nephilim wasn't going down easily as he grit his teeth and his eyes flashed a royal purple as his energy spiked as it threw the demon off guard. Naruto took advantage of this and pulled harder as the soul was being pulled out further. The demon wailed in pain and defeat as its souls was ripped out of its gargantuan body and flowed into Naruto as he called back his weapons. Naruto watched as the demon fell forward onto the floor as he simply approached it. Naruto watched as it turned to stone and reared his leg back as he gave it a kick as the entire corpse shattered. He put away his weapons and was about to walk away when he heard a familiar voice.
"Son, is it really you?" quicker than anyone though possible, he looked to the source of the voice and saw Kat stuck to a large stone piece as well as four others. He knew who the crow and wolf were as he ran over and broke the bindings holding all of them.
"Kat, what are you doing here?" Naruto asked as he set her down, however Soma asked a question of his own.
"Here is a better question, son. How did you end up in hell?" the vampire/demon asked as Naruto replied.
"I don't have a clear answer for that, pops. But why the hell are you guys here? What warranted your imprisonment inside this demon that I just killed?" Naruto asked as he had a fierce glare on his face.
"Is it because you two came together and fell in love, mom's past as an angel hunter, your past as a reincarnation of Mathias, or is it because I and my brother exist?" he said with an angry undertone. Soma and Cereza were startled when they noticed his eyes flash a demonic red and seemed familiar to something from Soma's past.
"Son… do you blame us for whatever happened to you?" Cereza asked in a hesitant tone. Naruto just walked away from the group and stopped a few feet from them with him looking out over the burning desert.
"I should… but I find that I have no reason to. You both didn't know or bother with the 'law' about my kind being forbidden from brought back. I don't blame you for leaving me in the care of the demons disguised as humans as they made my life hell since age 7." Naruto said as he looked to them and sat down on a boulder.
"What do you mean by that?" Jeanne asked as they six moved over to where he was.
"Well, after the attack on our home led by Mundus and your death at his hands. Dad took me and bro as he wiped our memories and hid us amongst the humans in Limbo city. Bro got the easy way out and was adopted by a rich family whereas I got the short stick and was tortured and examined like a lab rat by Mundus' demons that ran the orphanage. After a while I broke out and lived on the streets, occasionally getting caught and sent to various foster homes, institutions, youth correction facilities and orphanages. All of them were run by demons under Mundus's command. I always managed to escape and dropped off the grid as I grew up. I took to alcohol and sex to escape from the harsh reality as demons hunted me and dragged me into Limbo over and over." Naruto paused to break out a bottle of Jack Daniels as he poured himself a glass before continuing.
"I decided to live my life out as a thrill seeker hedonist because I knew I wasn't going to be around for much longer with the demons hounding me. However, I eventually met Kat, who led me to bro. Together, the three of us took down Mundus's demonic empire and freed humanity from their grip, though I don't think that was the best course of action as the humans saw them and freaked out as the demons were killing them. Back t the main point, bro revealed hi plans to rule over the human race and I sort of over-reacted because he sounded like he was going to be the next Mundus. We fought and I ran my sword through his heart, Kat convinced me to spare him and I did. He left and I realized what exactly I just did to my only family member left alive. Kat died in a demon ambush that lured me out as they got to her." Naruto said as he took a sip of his drink.
"Where is your brother?" Soma asked as he looked around.
"Last time I saw him, he said he was going to travel around and see if he can make contact with out old friends, that and try to atone for all the shit he caused." Naruto replied.
"Don't worry, we settled our differences and made up." He added as Cereza gave him a hard stare.
"In other news, why do you remind me of my son?" Sparda asked as he tapped his chain. Naruto looked at him before recognizing the person before him.
"You must be Sparda, I know about you through your kids." Naruto said as he answered Sparda.
"Really, and how are my boys, are they behaving well?" Eva asked as she looked at Naruto. Naruto thought the best way to reply to that without pissing her off, but thought 'fuck it'.
"Well, Dante is essentially a giant man-child who likes to party and drink as he flirts with all the ladies including Lady and Trish, who I might add is a demonic clone of you that your Mundus created in an attempt to draw out the big red and kill him. Vergil is a cold and aloof individual who is sort of a dick when it comes to trying to befriend him, Oh and he also has a low viewpoint on humans." Naruto said as he watched Eva and Sparda's faces go through a myriad of expressions ranging from embarrassment to disappointment. Naruto then spoke up to help the two.
"But, the two are some of the best friends a guy like me could have." Naruto said as the parents smiled. Naruto then thought of something and asked.
"You wouldn't happen to have fathered a third kid by the name of Nero, right?" the Nephilim asked as he pointed to Sparda. Sparda had the decency to look a bit embarrassed as he replied.
"Let's just say that Nero is my third son and also my 'reincarnation'." Sparda said as Naruto thought about it.
"Meh, I still call him Vergil's kid, drives him nuts. I also remember how me, Nero and Dante got Vergil to start appreciating humans." Naruto said as he smiled at that particular prank.
"Really? How did you change him?" Eva asked with a raised eyebrow. Naruto snapped his fingers as a vision mirror formed as it showed the three friends spiking Vergil's food and drink one night with a lot of 'special' spices that would change him into a crazed mess of pent up sexual energy, and then pushed him in the room Jennifer (Psylocke) was in, who just so happened to have a crush on the Cambion. Needless to say the trio was hunted and beaten most heinously when Vergil regained himself the next morning, but hey, it worked as Jennifer managed to break into his cold heart and become something more than a friend. Sparda found himself chuckling at the incident as Eva had a small smile. Naruto ended the mirror as he pulled off the glove on his right hand.
"Son, I would like to ask you a question." Cereza said as she looked at him.
"Shoot." Naruto replied.
"If you had the chance to keep your younger brother safe and those he cares for at the cost of your life, would you do so." She asked as she wanted to know how her twin boys were in terms of sibling relationship.
"I'm going to make this clear, although it's going to sound a bit corny. Right now, my brother is the closest person that I care for. It pained me to fight him to the point where I questioned my own identity after I stabbed him through the heart. The truth is simple, I will tear through the gates of hell and heaven to make sure that he is not in danger. I'll make sure he is safe from any large threats like Mundus, whichever young lady that manages to capture his heart and any family he starts will also be protected be me. I don't care if I have to tear a hole through reality and dimensions to get to him, I will be there to keep him safe and out of harm's way. If worse comes to worse, I'll keep him out of the battles while I deal with them myself, even if it means my death. The same goes for my old friends back home and the new ones I made." Naruto said in a fierce tone. The others could tell that Naruto meant what he said and would do anything to keep his only family left alive. Naruto then pointed his palm at them as the marking glowed and a larger on formed under their feet.
"This will get you out of here, I still got unfinished business here." Naruto said as he lowered his hand. Kat hugged her friend and pressed a finger on the right side of his neck as a tattoo of the glyph she always created to access Limbo appeared.
"There, with that, you can easily see and travel into dimensions that are like Limbo. While you do possess the natural ability to travel between realms, this also allows you to bring along those who can't if you wanted to. It was nice getting to know you and your brother." She said as she hugged him one more time and got back in the circle.
"We love you son, we love both of you. Please watch after your brother. We are sorry for not being there." Cereza said as Naruto waved it off.
"It's not your guys' fault, I'll keep an eye on bro." Naruto replied as he smiled. Eva then pulled a sealed letter from inside her dress and handed it to Naruto.
"Could you please make sure that my boy's get this? Inside the letter is my final gifts to them and a message for them." She said as he took it and put it away.
"Will do, ma'am." He replied as they waved goodbye and vanished as the sigil faded away. Naruto noticed a large horde of demons start to appear as more joined, all ranging from the demonic babies to large Onyx demons that his brother faced in the past. However something else drew Naruto's attention as his form started to let off smoke before quickly setting on fire, however the fire had no effect on him as he felt something primal growing inside of him. He started laughing in a dark tone as the flames grew brighter. He sprouted a pair of fiery demonic wings as he took to the air with a flap and was 600 meters above the demons. Naruto had a crazy and sadistic smile on his face as his eyes were a fiery red. He said one sentence as he shot back down to the desert with a streak of fire.
"I'm going to fuck shit up, hell yeah!" he yelled as his form impacted the ground and a large shockwave exploded from him as many demons were incinerated that were the closest to the blast zone. The smoke rose as the demons saw something large and demonic begin to move within the cloud of smoke as they hesitantly moved forward.
